FromSoftware's massively popular open world RPG Elden Ring is one tough nut to crack, but while it's possible to master the combat and overcome the challenge, the lore stays fairly impenetrable.
That's why YouTubers like VaatiVidya are also popular, specialising in covering these games and going over every last detail of their narratives and characters.
To that end, the aforementioned FromSoft expert is putting together an unofficial book all about Elden Ring's lore:
It's called Lore Bound, and it represents Vaati's own interpretation of the story and narrative details across every facet of the game. He calls it "my [YouTube] channel in physical form", which sums it up nicely.
The book is a serious deep dive on the action RPG, comprising over 400 pages that also include contributions from other creators in the space. It'll cover the main game as well as Shadow of the Erdtree and Elden Ring Nightreign.
You can pre-order Lore Bound now, in either the standard softcover (£32) or the deluxe hardcover edition (£73). There's also a free sample chapter, if you want to check that out first.
The book is targeting Q3 2026 for release. Will you be getting stuck into Lore Bound? Tell us in the comments section below.

I've listened to a few of his videos before so it's really cool he's writing a lore book about it.
That is a beautiful! I honestly thought the version they were showing initially was the premium hardcover version, but it's not, that's shown later. £32... hmmm. Might just bite!
The good ending is actually the bad ending.
There. That's Elden Ring's lore.
Looks beautiful, and I'm a sucker for anything Elden Ring these days, so yeah, I'm gonna get one of these.
Vaati should release an audio book version. He has the calmest voice on Youtube I've heard.
When playing other games and feeling sleepy, I just start a FromSoft game and then I'm wide awake.
Presentation is magnificent, but he’s not necessarily in unanimous agreement with whatever’s going on in Miyazaki’s mind when it comes to his lore breakdowns. Better than most, but not perfect. Something about buying a lore book where said lore isn’t guaranteed accurate is disconcerting. As much as I’d love to have this adorn my shelf, I think it’d need the blessing of Miyazaki, or at least FromSoft itself, for me to pull the trigger.
Will the book have his voice and accent?
No mention of George Martin? Didn't he write a ton of lore for the game?
@Balaam_ I agree. I do enjoy his videos and interpretations on the fromsoft games, but id be a bit chuffed buying this book only for fromsoft to come out with their own that contradicts some points in vaati's book. Like you said if fromsoft endorsed this book then it would be different.
Looks very nice, but 80+ euros is a tad too much for me.
I'll be sure to add it to my collection. I own Grace Given: The Mythology of Elden Ring, also from Tune and Fairweather. It is also a brilliant read, as I am sure this one will be.
Absolutely love his stuff, will be adding this to the coffee table collection.
Fromsofts lore is next level. Love some of the YouTube channels like Brothers code who narrate it all. Wonderful
If you like a good book construction, I recommend this company. I have the art competition book by Vaati and it's so well made. Hard cover is excellent too
Not sure why people in this comments section are acting like From would release a lore book.
The whole point of the story in From games is to fill in the blanks yourself - this is just Vaati's interpretation of what is in the game.
I pre ordered instantly but I'm a suckee for these and own all the 'Souls books' from Tune and Fairweather
So many years after the game was relevant, is there still a market for this?
