Its been a bit of a mixed bag since last week

Resildent Evil Village - Despite my weak heart and tiny balls I managed to finish the game ๐Ÿ˜… Thank ***** it didnt get worse than House Beneviento as that would have been to much for me... its very hard to play games and hide behind a pillow at the same time ๐Ÿ˜‚ Very happy it dropped on Plus so I could give it a go, very good game and I enjoyed it a lot despite some near heart attacks and such!

I've also given both Arknights Endfield and Highguard a fair try but neither of them is really good enough to be worth my time. They're both pretty okayish games though, so others may like them better than me. Highguard has some potential but for my own part they would need to make some big changes to get me back, the gunplay and worldbuilding was nice though.

Fallout 4 - Watching the show made me want to play Fallout 3 or New Vegas but since the remasters/remakes seems to be years away, I decided to play Fallout 4 instead as I've only played it once before. Its the weakest of the three imo but its nice to play the ps5 version, 60 fps makes the gunplay a lot better and its still great to explore the Wasteland and all that but I also remember why I only played it once. Feels like the first real step in the wrong direction for Bethesda. Hopefully Fallout 5 and Elder Scrolls 6 will be ***** awesome and that they've learned their lesson with this and Starfield. But, I'll finish Fallout 4 and might even go for the platinum ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 617

played since last week

Cyberpunk 2077 - Finished the Phantom Liberty DLC, which is very good imo, chose two for me new endings and picked the one where you basically go back to Night City and continue from where you were before you went to Dogtown, which was pretty neat as I got to finish the game of with my favorite ending with Panam. As I've said so many times before, this is such an awesome game despite some flaws imo and one of my all time favorites. Probably not the last time I do a full playthrough either ๐Ÿ™‚

Resident Evil Village - Perfect game to drop on Plus for me, been close to buying it several times but I've been unsure if I have the balls to play it so figured I'd wait. And thankfully, its not as scary as I feared meaning my tiny balls can handle it, and on top of that its very good. Iยจve met and defeated the tall lady it was so much fuss about some years ago (cant say much about that, I'm all over Panam so... ๐Ÿ™‚). Looking forward to continuing the game. But I'm not ***** playing it in VR, that would be the end of me....

Far Cry Blood Dragon - when I need a breather from Resi 8 I've been playing Blood Dragon. The new 60 fps patch was a great excuse to revisit this classic, which has aged a bit but its still very good imo and I like the old school humor in it.

Iโ€™ve been playing a few different games this past week instead of focusing on one or two games. I think its mostly because Iโ€™ve already finished my current โ€mainโ€ game and feel a need to switch things up a bit moreโ€ฆ Anyway, the games:

Cyberpunk 2077 Iโ€™m now in Dogtown, and the Phantom Liberty dlc is really good imo. Love going from a story mission to doing some gigs to a nice date with Panam ๐Ÿ˜ CD project har really added some nice small bits and things to do over the years. As I said last week, one of my favorite games ever!

Epic Mickey Rebrushed - Never played this back in the day, so didnt know what to expect. Its about good enough to keep me playing it but not that much more.

Subside PSVR2 - this is pretty good. Looks great, its immersive and fun. Great combo!

Pirates VR Jolly Roger - it was cheap, ok? All this talk about the Black Flag remake made me want to be a pirate again. This game does let me be a pirate sure, but its pretty bad so Iโ€™ll probably drop it and wait for Black Flag instead ๐Ÿ˜’

NHL 25 - visited a mate a while back and after some beers we always end up playing some NHL game and I got my ass kicked which usually doesnt happen so Iโ€™m secretly going to practice a bit until next time we meet and then Iโ€™ll crush him ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 615

Mafia The Old Country - so I picked this up a week and a half ago and I've finished the story which I really enjoyed and I'm now finishing up the last few trophys for the platinum. The game is a bit on the slower side which I dont really mind, I found the voice acting and the setting to be really good, the game looks great and the recently added free ride mode gives some extra things to do. Overall a really good game imo.

Cyberpunk 2077 - again?? well... yeah Met an old mate of mine over a beer recently who had just finished the game for the first time and was lyrical about it so I was hit by a strong desire to start a new game and finish the main story and then replay Phantom Liberty which I've "only" played once. And it feels really awesome to be back in Night City, sure its not a perfect game and there are some missed opportunities but I just love it. One of my all time favorites

Dispatch - finished and platinumed! Such a good game, really enjoyed pretty much everything about it and playing through the different choices felt rewarding. Looking forward to what they do next!

Now with Christmas coming I'll be spending less time playing games and more time with family and friends so I wont start anything new for a while, which is nice timing as I dont know what I want to play next. Hoping to get some inspiration from all the comments here ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Holidays!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 611

Red Dead Redemption PS5 - I've been wanting to replay RDR for a while so the PS5 version dropping on Plus meant it was time to grab the hat and get on the horse again. Its not the most impressive remaster but it gives me the best version of the game and its still a very good game, however after maybe 5-6 hours I just felt like I had my fill. I remember much of the game and this version adds nothing new and its not a remake either so.... I can always pop in now and then and for a short while, maybe play a round of poker, so I'll take this sweet stroll down memory lane and ride off in to the sunset!

Dispatch - after all the great reviews and comments from you all about the game I just couldnt wait any longer. I've finished my first playthrough late last night and its a really, really good game. The graphics style, humor, feeling etc is top notch. Maybe the actual dispatching and hacking got a bit tedious towards the end but I cant wait to start over and make some other choices. Very good game, very nice to see this kind of game be successful ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 610

Basically the same as last week;

Dying Light: the Beast - been pretty much playing only this which means quite a few hours so I've managed to finish and platinum it, and I've really, really enjoyed it. Its not quite as good as the first, and its not without its flaws, but the combination of all its parts makes it a really good game. It was all I hoped for and more, which is probably why I got so obsessed with it., Fun gameplay, combat, exploration and story and some good side missions and a sprinkle of goofiness made this great fun!

LEGO Horizon adventures - been playing with my daughter and we're having fun. It looks amazing, gameplay is decent and a great game to play with a kid but not something I would play by myself much as its a bit simple and repetetive but weยดll se how long she wants to keep playing - hopefully we can finish it!

Next up I'll try the Red Dead Redemption remaster ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 609

mac_da_man

This past week I've focused on

Dying Light:the Beast - and I'm really enjoying it. Its obvious it started as a DLC as the map is smaller compared to the other games. Its not as good as the first game imo, but I like it quite a bit more than the second and Iโ€™m having a blast playing it. For me its one of those 7/10 games that is just so much fun to play I totally overlook some minor flaws here and there. Story is fine, side missions are varied, exploration is fun, parkouring is great, being out at night is scary as ***** especially when the volatiles come for you and popping zombie heads is awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 608

Update since last week ๐Ÿ™‚

Alan Wake 2 - finished and platinumed! I'm very happy with myself that I decided to play this even though horror/scary games are really not my thing anymore ๐Ÿ˜… Ended up really, really enjoying this game! Almost started a new game plus immediately after finishing (you'll get why) but decided that would take to long and my curiousity was killing me so I watched some YouTube videos instead ๐Ÿ™‚ Very well written story imo!

Thank goodness youre here - been waiting for this to drop on plus, so very happy it finally did! Its brilliant, so fun and so worth a playthrough. Finished and platinumed in about 3 hours maybe, brilliant game ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

The Crew Motorfest - so I left it with some trophies unpopped, one was an online trophy and it was a bit of a pain finding games and more importantly filling them with enough players as the trophy requires you to destroy three opponents in one game but with the game being on Gamepass there was suddenly new players so I finally got that trophy and then the platinum, so that was nice! Very good game imo!

Dying light: the Beast - picked it up in the sale. Loved the first but not the second so was a bit hesitant about this until I watched TheRadBrad play it on YT praising it and saying it was a lot more like the first game than the second. I'm only like 1-2 hours in but is seems very promising so far ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great weekend

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 607

mac_da_man

Played since last week ๐Ÿ™‚

CoD Blops 7 - I was looking forward to a good CoD campaign, especially after last years Blops 6 that was great, but had completely missed that this year had some twist to the campaign - its online, co-op forced utter garbage that basically cant be played solo as you get no AI companions to fill empty spots so they are there on the radio and in the cutscenes but vanishes during actual gameplay. This was so ***** bad I uninstalled the ***** before even finishing the first mission since I had to take a quick break cause kids and when I got back I had gotten kicked to the start screen and would have to restart the whole thing since there are no checkpoints... ๐Ÿ˜‚ Havent touched the mp so that might be good. I'll stick with Battlefield 6!

Battlefield 6 - so, I got the platinum!! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Enjoying this game so much, I can see myself playing it regurlarly for a long time!

Alan Wake 2 - really been enjoying this one too! I've had some moments where I've felt my heart skip a beat but its on a level I can handle which is nice since the game is really good. Closing in on the last few chapters, hopefully finishing the game over the weekend. The We sing chapter was pretty epic!

Have a great weekend!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 606

Played since last week ๐Ÿ™‚

The Outer Worlds 2 - so I've already finished the game! It took me about 17 hours, I expected it to be longer but then I didnt do much of the side content so theres probably a couple of hours of content I havent played. I had a lot of fun with the game and its a pretty big improvement all around from the first game imo. Lots of different ways to play and build your character and many different solutions to problems during missions etc which is really great and important in a game like this. So all in all I'm impressed and really enjoyed the game!

Alan Wake 2 - So I've surprised myself by choosing to play this, and again by not quitting at the first scare. Cant really handle scary ***** anymore ๐Ÿ˜‚ but this is more creepy and less scary imo so maybe I can get through this... a couple of hours in and so far its really good!

And of course Battlefield 6 in between ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy gaming!

Update since last week ๐Ÿ™‚

Ghost of Yotei - Finished and platinumed. Loved this game! The gorgeous world, the soundtrack, the gameplay, the story - even got some dust in my eye at the ending but then I had a window open so...... Brilliant game imo! Its a game Iยดll be returning to every now and then and just take in the atmosphere and views and play the shamisen for a bit!

Battlefield 6 - having a blast with it and will for a long time. I even enjyed the campaign, but its no where near as good as a good CoD-campaign. Iยดve done all the trophies except the grindy ones, which will take me a long time to get and Iยดll enjoy every game along the way. Feels great to have a good Battlefield game again.

The Outer Worlds 2 - about 3 hours in an Im impressed, both with the game itself which is good fun so far and that it runs as good as it does on my poor old series S so I dont feel any need to get this on my Pro instead which is nice since we have GPU until december I think. (I should have finished bith this and the upcoming CoD campaign by then.)

Happy gaming!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 604

Update since last week

Ghost of Yotei - I'm loving this game. There are some epic moments in the story imo, and I'm closing in on the end. I've done all the side content and collectibles etc so now I can just enjoy the rest of the story ๐Ÿ™‚

Battlefield 6 - Very fun to play, impressed with how Dice could turn things around from 2042 and it feels like this will be a game I play regularly for a long time. I plan to play the single player campaign, I'll update you when I do ๐Ÿ™‚

Keeper - So, this game has so much potential but after playing for 20 minutes I feel like my Series S isnt really delivering the best experience and I want to enjoy this game at its best so I'll wait and see if it doesnt show up on PS5 in the future.

Also- I just wishlisted Halo for my PS5. We knew it was coming but still feels a bitโ€ฆ wierd?โ€ฆ seeing Halo on playstation. Anyway, that will probably be ***** awesome!

Ghost of Yotei - loving this game, its just so much fun to play! The open world, apart from being absolutely stunning, really invites exploration and I constantly get sidetracked in a good way and the combat is good and imo its just as fun to play stealthy as it is to just openly challenge the enemies. Soundtrack is also very good! Currently hunting the Kitsune ๐Ÿ™‚

Battlefield 6 - so, my plan was to wait for this to be in a deep sale at least before buying it (didnt want to support EAs new owners) but then some friends I played a LOT of Battlefield 4 and Destiny with reached out and wanted to get the crew together again and I simply couldnt resist. So, despite giving EA and co my money which leaves just a little sour taste in my mouth (apart from the small chunk going to the actual people who made the game, you are absolutely worth giving money too) weยดve had som much fun playing multiplayer. Its really the best Battlefield since 4 imo, looks and plays great and I cant wait to play more, especially awesome when you have a good squad ๐Ÿ™‚

What Iยดve been playing since last week

Gears of War Reloaded โ€“ Me and the son finally finished the campaign! Its been so awesome to play this with him, and a little surprising that he also found the game to be really good (despite being 20 years old which for him is ancient). We might have to play more GoW ๐Ÿ™‚

The Crew Motorfest - Im moving on from this game now, having played around 30 hours. Its been fun, some of the playlists have been really impressive with high production value but Im switching to play more Sonic Racing Crossworlds instead.

Ghost of Yotei - Loving this! Its just what i wanted, a gorgeous game thats more of what made Tsushima great and Im motivated storywise to get my revenge ๐Ÿคฉ

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 601

What Iยดve been playing

Gears of War Reloaded โ€“ Me and the son only managed to play for 30 min this past week so still on act 5. Iยดm hoping that we can get some playtime later tonight and maybe finish it off ๐Ÿ™‚

Sonic Racing Crossworlds - The whole family played some 4 player split screen, its a lot of fun. Pretty solid game

The Midnight Walk - Finished and platinumed. Really enjoyed this one, Good story with some great art design and soundtrack and playing it in VR made quite a big difference in immersion and being chased by monsters was pretty intense at times ๐Ÿ™‚

Ghost of Yotei - rare day 1 for me but loved Tsushima so got this preordered after reading some positive reviews. A couple of hours in and this is pretty much exactly what I hoped for. It looks amazing and plays great, really polished from my experience, and a story of revenge is very fitting for the setting. This is going to be awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

Played since last week

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle โ€“ finished and platinumed. Love this game, really enjoyed exploring and doing basically everything and also getting the secret ending!

Gears of War Reloaded โ€“ Still the same as last week, slowly making progress in the campaign playing split-screen with my son, and still loving it. We're on act 5 now, getting closer to the end.
Sonic Racing Crossworlds - very solid game and a lot of fun. Maybe not Mario Kart level good but still. Havent had the opportunity to play with the whole family in 4 player split-screen yet but very much looking forward to it!

The Midnight Walk - wow, what an unexpected gem of a game this is! Playing it mostly in VR the atmosphere and the art design are great. I love it, but its not a game for everyone.

Baby steps - so silly, so fun! Havent played much but we've had fun playing it. You can turn the nudity off if you like me are playing with kids around.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle โ€“ I'm having a blast playing this again. In Suhkothai now, so I'll probably be finishing it off in a couple of sessions. Love it! And theres a lot I didnt do or missed on my first playthrough which makes it all the more fun!

Gears of War Reloaded โ€“ Same as last week, still slowly making progress in the campaign playing split-screen with my son, and still loving it. We're on act 4 now. He's very impressed by the game being so good despite it being so old, and it really is!

Sonic Racing Crossworlds - The whole family sat down and played the demo, shame it didnt have 4 player split screen as the full game will have but we all really liked it taking turns to play so I've ordered two more controllers and cant wait to play all together! As a bonus, Sackboy will be awesome with 4 players as well ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 598

Iโ€™ve had quite a lot of game time this week, which is nice ๐Ÿ˜Š

Gears of War Reloaded โ€“ Still slowly making progress in the campaign playing split-screen with my son, and still loving it. Iยดve had plenty time to play this week but the son has been rather busy so weยดve not played much sadly. On act 3, maybe halfway through that.

Robocop Unfinished business โ€“ finished and platinumed, enjoyed it quite a bit. IT didnโ€™t overstay its welcome either!

Forza Horizon 5 โ€“ finally popped that platinum ๐Ÿ˜Š Its been a very fun ride, and Iโ€™ve enjoyed it a lot. Time to switch to The Crew Motorfest for more relaxed open-world racing!

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle โ€“ replaying this awesome game going for the platinum this time, and I love it. The first playthrough I just did the main story, so doing everything and exploring etc is great fun and thereโ€™s a lot I missed the first time (on purpose but still). In Gizeh right now, enjoying every second ๐Ÿ˜Š

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 597

Sword of the Sea - finished and platinumed! Such a nice little gem of a game, great gameplay flow, nice soundtrack, nice graphics. Really enjoyed this!

Gears of War Reloaded - Slowly making progress in the campaign playing split-screen with my son, and loving it. Sure, it shows its age sometimes but overall its still a very enjoyable campaign imo, but the co-op is what makes it awesome!

Also been trying to like the multiplayer but thats so much harder to enjoy. Its just not that Im not the best player but also its some wierd coding, hit detection and some obvious cheating going on that just drags the experience down a lot. Will probably not play versus anymore.

Robocop Unfinished business - having some fun with this. Its literally more of the same as the first game, this being a stand alone instead of DLC. Im missing the open world sections of the first game but aside from that its good. Im nearing the last few chapters so should finish this up pretty soon and then its time to play Indy again!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 596

mac_da_man

Since last week

Sword of the sea - This is awesome ๐ŸคฉSo much fun to play with smooth gameplay, it looks great and has a good soundtrack. I've finished it once and I'm now doing a new game plus playthrough. The snowboarding feeling is great in the game, makes me want a new and good SSX game or a remaster of any of the first three!

Gears of War Reloaded - fond memories of playing this all those years ago, it shows its age sometimes but its a good remaster and I'm really enjoying it playing it split-screen with my boy (which adds so much to the experience). He likes his game hard, so we're playing on insane level ๐Ÿ˜… really looking forward to playing more!

Indika - So, saw a friend play this on the friend list and thought I'd try it going in blind. It sure is special ๐Ÿ˜‚ You play as a nun, just that is an experience I didnt expect! So, without giving away any spoilers I kind of got stuck after playing for five minutes and now I just have to know how it ends ๐Ÿ˜‚ Just know its a bit wierd if you try it ๐Ÿ˜…

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 595

mac_da_man

Hellblade - finished and platinumed. really enjoy this game, great upgrade imo.

Hellblade II - I went straight on with Hellblade II. Played it on the S at release but playing it on the Pro in 60 fps is a huge upgrade. The game simply looks amazing. Iยดve finished the story and I feel like I enjoyed it more this time for some reason. No platinum yet, the ***** added a new trophy meaning you need to finish the game in Dark Rot Mode, meaning its on hard and you can only die a total of four times with most enemies killing you with 2 hits or even 1... Will probably give that up but still, really enjoyed the game. Neither of the Hellblade games are for everyone, but if you like these kind of games they are very good imo.

Delta Force - Nah. I had some hopes for this but its really not good, looks like crap and its buggy and badly optimized. Moving on.

Forza Horizon 5 - still going strong, still working on that last trophy and still having fun!

Sword of the sea - Iโ€™ve only just started, played maybe 20 minutes but this seems very, very good and Iโ€™m likely going to enjoy this a lot!

Happy gaming ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 594

mac_da_man

Banishers - Iยดve finished the story. I felt like the game started to drag on a bit in the end so I didnt do all the optional stuff, which led to me getting the bad ending. Which I actually dont mind, it fits the grimness of the story and the world. I dont see myself going for any of the good endings so I watched them on youtube instead. Overall, a good game with a nice story but gameplay mechanics, a world looking pretty much the same everywhere and a bit of bloat dragged it down for me a bit.

Forza Horizon 5 - still going strong, just the one trophjy to get before the platinum. This game Iยดll keep installed, pretty nice for some short plays here and there.

Hellblade Senuas Sacrifice - So I stumbled on a free ps5 upgrade the other day that I had missed was coming so I thought Iยดd check that out just to see, but then the opening is so good and its been a while since I played it so I just got stuck playing for two hours straight wich wasnt the plan. Anyhow, its a great game imo, much more "game" than the sequel, and its a good upgrade so Iยดll be finishing this and then I might go for Hellblade 2 to experience it on the Pro. Even if the sequel isnt as good as this game, its pretty short and I kind of want that platinum in my collection ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy gaming!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 593

mac_da_man

So summer leave is over, and weโ€™re back home which should mean more gaming ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

CoD WWII - Iโ€™ve finished the campaign and even if its not my favorite its still very enjoyable in that old school FPS blockbuster action kind of way. I hope we get all the older CoDs on gamepass, and Iโ€™ll happily play/replay them.

Banishers - Iโ€™m enjoying the story, and the grimness of the world, however the gameplay (the fighting mostly) and that many locations look very samey (especially caves/mines) is starting to have a negative effect on me. Should be getting closer to the end though, so thats good cause Indont want it to overstay its welcome. Probably not going to platinum this game.

FH5 - gotta say that after getting the Eliminator trophy this is a pretty fun platinum to get, and I enjoy playing shorter sessions each day ๐Ÿ™‚
