Crimson Desert Release Times: What Time Can You Start Playing?

Pre-ordering a game where the developer is continuously obtuse about a lot of reasonable questions is madness, especially digitally.

I sincerely hope this is a good game, but people need to stop rewarding developers for such lousy practices.

Not being able to play until 6PM on release day digitally in America is so strange. I don’t get that one at all just release it at either midnight or even noon in each individual time zone like every other game in history.

@Number09 It's perfect for me too. Now can the game hold that? Is it buggy? Is it too ambitious and just a mess of ideas that it doesn't nail fully? Is the gameplay actually any good?

@MrPeanutbutterz I don’t get it, what’s the big controversy? That they haven’t shown PS5/Xbox gameplay? That they haven’t disclosed the whole game before reviews come out?

It’s not unheard of that a game that’s clearly prioritized PC isn’t promoting console gameplay, the Digital Foundry video on PS5 Pro is impressive to say the least and that alone convinced me to preorder a physical copy, if you still feel unsure about it just wait for reviews or gameplays to come out, don't let it bother you that someone else has pre-ordered it lol.

@Colour they want a world wide launch, everybody gets to play at the same time,i suspect it has something to do with fact that some people have the game early but they've implemented a lock on it until your countries release date , probably to much hassle to unlock it at different times for everyone , rockstar should do this to stop spoilers.

It’s going to be a 7/10. But I genuinely do hope it is a good game.

How much more information you need? If you dont like that you have seen till now, then ofxourse, dont pre order. I watched all stuff they posted, I am satisfied with what I saw, I have preorder. They have been pretty open and transparent. Because game is so massive and "complicated" it is very hard to show everything in even 30min overview

Wait....so the games release date s 19th March but I can't start playing it until 10pm that day?? Wtf is up with that? That's ridiculous.

Looking on the plus side, even if this game is a disaster it will hopefully serve as a salutary lesson for game developers about over-promising and under delivering and for consumers about the perils of pre-ordering and falling for yet more *****. It will be referred to in the same way as No Mans Sky and Cyberpunk 2042 and...oh. bugger. Yeah. Nothing will be learnt.

Yes, I know DF have had access to PS5 Pro code, but the lack of ANY base console codes being sent out is a 🚩to me. Don't get me wrong, I really hope the game turns out to be great, but I’m definitely waiting for reviews being ordering.

I've preloaded the physical deluxe steelbook edition.

@Nightcrawler71 I'm hoping it turns out to be fine too, but with some of the oddball stuff surrounding it idk something just feels off. No console footage being shown, no console review codes being distributed, their PR guy getting overly defensive about people asking questions. But if there is indeed something wrong with the console version, I'm (low-key) hoping they put the blame on nondescript "saboteurs" 😂

@MrPeanutbutterz Oh I do remember and it’s why I only preordered it after watching Digital Foundry’s PS5 Pro gameplay, ironically what impressed me the most wasn’t the technical side (which does looks impressive) but the game itself, the systems, interactions, openness that resembles BoTW or TOTK, that alone is worth a try for me even if performance isn’t perfect.

Again, if you don’t got the Pro and are still concerned about performance on base PS5 it’s perfectly understandable to wait and see, but this “controversy” is being overblown, I remember same thing happened with Black Myth Wukong as they only kept showing the PC version and it turned out fine, but now some people even seem to be actively rooting for this game to fail which I don’t get at all, didn’t we say we wanted more single-player games?

This whole map time zone thing seems very free-to-start for a $70 game. If you're paying $70 to own a game you shouldn't have to wait until late in the day to play it. Free to start games can do whatever they want, it's free.

@IOI Oh people rooting for any game to fail is just bizarre. I'm rooting for this to be great; on paper at least it's very much my jam. Call me cynical or a bit burnt out by how the industry operates in general, I just can't get hyped for this until it's out in the wild and regular people have had proper time with it.

Funnily enough, the Pro footage is what has made me even more suspicious - it's probably the console with the smallest install base, yet this is what they chose to show it off on when pressured for console footage. To me it feels like they're being obtuse, deliberately so. The last line of this article is a massive red flag too. Pearl Abyss know fine well people are hungry for base console footage, but have yet to furnish any.

No BASE PS5 performance yet?

@MrPeanutbutterz I'm confused by this comment. You're asking if the game is any good or not, and developers don't typically provide reviews of their own games. Do you really expect them to tell you, "Yeah, our game sucks, please don't buy it!". That's what reviews from gaming outlets (or users) are for.

@rjejr I will be passing on the game for this reason. If I buy a game I want to play it at 9 AM, 10 AM at the latest. To not be available until 5 PM (where I live) is madness. It is very strange. I will be leaving a 0 review on Metacritic as soon as able and playing Turtles in Time that night instead.

@MrPeanutbutterz There’s no need to hustle around a pre-order. It’s nothing special or anything that will be sold out. Wait for the reviews next week and then let’s see.
A game of this size will of course get tons of additional patches over the upcoming months. No need to rush here.

Guess i wont be playing it for a few days after release 10 pm uk release cheers devs work Friday morning.

Plot Twist the actual footage released by Digital Foundry was from the base PS5 and not the Pro.

I think it will launch pretty busted but otherwise sh*t looks hype. PS5 might have a game to rival BotW, nine years later!

I smell smell cyberpunk, no console codes given out, only gameplay available from a super pc at Nasa, and well we all know how that turned out, currently this is looking the same, I hope im wrong because I like what I see

So if I buy the physical copy at 9am on release day in the UK. It won't be playable until till 10pm? Or is this just digital releases?

Already preordered for PC some time ago simply because of hefty discount found then on standard version.
For now i'm "hopefident" the game will run well on PS5 (OG and pro) as well as PC after the inevitable day one patch.

I ended up getting a refund from Steam. It didn't have Denuvo listed on store page when I bought it but it's been added now so I'm out.

Gonna wait until weekend to see opinions

Probably 6-12 months down the line once I'm through a small chunk of my near endless backlog and it's been patched to high hell.

I agree with you: pre-ordering this game is high risk, and the only ‘reward’ is a useless cosmetic skin.

@Nightcrawler71 DF didn’t have access to any code, they explained they received a fully functional PS5 Pro with pre-installed code. This in itself is odd, and only adds to the aura of doubt.

Day one for me. The only opinion I worry about is mine, and I will decide when I personally get to check it out. Admittedly, it’s weird how up in their feelings some are over what people choose and choose not to do. This is Push though, so the demo checks out.

I don't get it you guys visited them doing PR but couldn't get an idea about why they aren't providing Console codes that you have to call them rumors?

The Digital Foundry video with the pro footage made me excited for this, but the information that they were given a PS5 pro with the game installed so they couldn’t sample the base console versions is perplexing to me. I don’t have a pro and this seems deliberate.

I really hope the game is good, because it sounds really cool! That last sentence of the article is eye brow raising.

Just so many oddities surrounding the release of this one.

My pro is ready, pre-ordered last night. Hoping to get a majority of the way through Monster Hunter Stories 3 before Thursday!!! Been waiting on this game for YEARS and i'm so ***** excited.

86Gb for the PS5, that is much smaller than I thought it would be! That's equivalent to RE Requiem, crazy for the amount of stuff thats packed into it

I haven't pre ordered more than 3 games in my life. And those were sequels to games I loved from developers who earned my trust. Imagine the base PS5 not looking as good as a high-end PC or the Pro. Shocking. If it reviews well, I will pick it up next month, after the first 4 patches have dropped.

Will PushSquare have a day 1 review or will you guys be reviewing it when it releases and uploading your review later on?
