Random: Fans Can't Believe Halo Is Coming to PS5 Before Killzone

Yea Killzone is a no-brainer. It's absolutely wild that Sony doesn't have a 1st party FPS on PS5 (Concord doesn't count, you understand). Amazing tweet though 🤣

I loved Killzone 2 and 3 on PS5 and felt epic and a lot of fun!

The problem Killzone has is that one, the last game was a huge disappointment, and two, how big is the Killzone fanbase really? Going to the Killzone Reddit page, it only has five thousand members, which is a tiny amount, old game franchise or not.

It’s a shame because I like Killzone 2, but in Sony’s mind at least, there probably isn’t any evidence that a new Killzone would sell well, or even be received well.

I really liked killzone 2 and Mercenaries (3 wasn't too bad either) but any want from me for that series to continue died with Shadow Fall, when taking into account developer pedigree and budget etc that is the worst game I've ever played and left one hell of a nasty taste in my mouth. I'd rather play a remake of halo now. Wish they added the multiplayer though.

It’s a travesty to me! I’m a huge killzone fan! I was very disappointed with the PS4 one as it didn’t capture the ethos of the trilogy. I don’t trust today’s Guerrilla to make a Killzone with the previous ethos. So better not to make it. But a Sony studio should have some type of shooter. Bring back MAG since they are all in on the F2P model.

I tried several times to get into the PS2 original and not enjoyed it any time I have (bit like it is for me with Gears of war).

I really liked 2 and 3, especially 3. It was quite short but it looked and played great back in the day

@Vaako007 Guerilla has already stated that they were of bored it and have zero interest in returning to the franchise.

I think sony’s resources would be better spent on another live service game because there’s the possibility that game might actually turn out to be good……or porting over games like puppeteer.

I think people forget or maybe its nostalgia but Killzone just wasnt that much of a hit.

It had its cult following. It just wasnt a huge success.

Not many talk about the great first person shooters over the years and even mention the killzone franchise.

Halo on the other hand, everyone knows of mastercheif.

Honestly I couldnt even name any characters from the killzone franchise off the top of my head.

While Killzone is dead from Hermen‘s perspective, I can’t believe that Sony tricked us so badly with its PSVR2 support. I invested more mony in my PSVR2 than in my PS5 console, and all what SIE offered me was Horizon, a patched GT7, Firewall Ultra (?!) and a non-game called Climate Station.

Sorry, I saw some outrage here and wanted to vent my anger.

Nevermind Killzone or Halo, let's get a new entry in the Resistance franchise. Failing that remasters of the original trilogy.

This weird trend of the people on the internet going for likes and ‘cool’ cred by embracing long dead franchises they probably never touched in the first place never ceases to amuse.

I bought and played all the Killzones bar Mercenaries (which I didn’t see anything in) at launch and the only two I thought were great were 2 (which was partially overshadowed by Sony’s infamous fake gameplay trailer) and Liberation (which almost nobody played).

Helghast designs are great (I often use KZ armor in Helldivers 2) but the franchise doesn’t need to come back. If the most interesting thing that can be said about a franchise is it once was intended to kill another franchise there is clearly nothing to be said.

People are surprised that Halo is being brought over before a shelved Sony franchise?

Sony should just remaster Killzone 1-3 along with Shadowfall, Mercenaries, and Liberation in one single collection. Let's see if Killzone fans and these people who keeps complaining on twitter gonna buy the collection or not.

If the collection sold well then there's a proof the series still has strong demand. But if it's a flop then the series deserves to stay dead and buried.

I'm not a fans of Killzone. I only played Killzone Liberation but none of Killzone 1-3, Shadowfall, and Mercenary. So i don't care that much if Killzone stay dead or not.

I actually bought the trilogy box set on PS3 the other day as it goes. Direct from Sony America, so it was still shrink-wrapped and everything. Still, I’d buy and play a ps5 remastered trilogy over my recent purchase if it was an option.

@johncalmc That’s unfair on Killzone. The series certainly had its ups and downs, but it has a unique aesthetic and it does genuinely have a different feel to Halo

@Max_the_German I'm looking at getting the psvr 2 soon so I've been doing my homework and looking into the games that are supported. GT7 is obviously the main one for me being a sim racing nutter but there are plenty of others that have piqued my interest. Seeing all these negative comments about lack of support really got me thinking maybe it wasn't worth it but I'm still going to get one because the pros out weigh the cons for me.

Sony has say they are done with killzone why u guys want to keep on bringing up this topic no one at Sony wants to make a remake

Since we are already getting remakes after remakes after remasters after remasters.... give us a remaster of the trilogy....same for Resistance....

@Northern_munkey even taking into account the lack of support, if you can find it at a good price it's worth it for GT7 (especially if you have a wheel) and Resi Village/4 Remake alone.

There's plenty of other good stuff - Rez Infinite, Beat Saber, Tetris Effect I'll give shout outs to. And we got a good version of Hitman in VR recently by all accounts which I've yet to get round to trying tbh.

I'm glad Halo is coming as that is my favorite fps out there but I also really enjoyed Killzone a lot as well. They don't play anything alike really so I doubt Killzone would be overshadowed.

Killzone may not be the most popular shooter out there but they made 6 games in that franchise. Clearly there is an audience for them. Also keep in mind Killzone never released as a multiplatform title. It's sales potential was always cut short by that. Considering how Halo is coming over, what harm would there be in getting Killzone on Xbox and especially PC? Might as well if they would revive it.

Sadly though it doesn't seem like Sony is interested in the series at all at this point so I wouldn't hold my breath. At least I can soon play Halo again on my primary system.

Personally I think Killzone is far better than Halo but then I’ve only played the MCC so things might have improved since then.
It is a real shame that Killzone hasn’t been given a basic remaster plus given additional psvr2 support (just basic DualShock will do, nothing fancy with the sense controllers) especially as Killzone3 had 3D (and Move) support. I’m sure it probably wouldn’t be easy but the psvr2 fan base would love it.
Plus I actually think Shadow Fall is extremely underrated, I last played it in 2019 and thought it was an exciting campaign.
Miss the MP which was in-depth.

Microsoft has been going multi-platform for years. Sony has been doing nothing with older IPs for years.

Let’s be honest Sony chased GAAS and wasted so much developers time and millions in money.
Also they do have a good few studios but compared to the amount Microsoft own now, it must be less, especially staff count wise.

Killzone is dead and people need to come to turns with that, the last game sucked and even the previous games were flops by sales metrics. There's just not enough interest in this game (same with Resistance) for Sony to take a gamble.

Killzone and Resistance Remaster Collections with all the games would be pretty neat. And the games would be 10 times as awesome in VR.

@CaptD yeah that would’ve been cool. I did hear that fans were somehow able to get the Killzone 2 servers back up a year or two back… who knows, maybe they’ll be able to do the same for 3.

Alternatively, a project like remastering these or the Resistance trilogy would seem the perfect job for Bluepoint or Nixxies… but instead their sat on their hands or porting exclusively to PC 🤬

Personally, if we’re talking Sci-Fi FPS, I’d be more interested in a Resistance remake. Killzone never interested me, nor Halo. I know I’m in the minority though.

Killzone was never ever a Halo beater, didnt even come close ! The single player was merely ok but the multiplayer was great. Shadowfall was very poor though so fans thinking Killzone should resurface and be a CoD beater are living in cuckoo land

Maybe Sony could take a lesson from Microsoft and re-release some of those old games like Killzone or Resistance remastered as multi-platfom releases including PC, Switch 2 and Xbox. It worked well for Gears of War: Reloaded. 😏

Forget Killzone - what about Resistance?? I always preferred Resistance FAR more than Killzone and have been wanting a remastered trilogy or new entry in the series on PS5 for ages. And yes, I know RESISTANCE: Retribution is available on PS5 complete w DLC but that doesn’t count in my mind any more than KILLZONE: Liberation does.

Killzone wasn't that good. None of them were when stacked up against the third party offerings at the time. Call of Duty: Finest Hour and Black were both much better PS2 shooters. On PS3, Resistance: Fall of Man is still one of the best PlayStation exclusives ever, really. I didn't like the second one as much, but the first one caught lightning in a bottle. Their creativity was off the charts.

We can still see Killzone just not from GG. I’ll be happy to have a remake from another team.
But there are other titles that made PlayStation memorable.
Socom needs a reboot from a team that could do it right.
Warhawk, the game was so much fun with so much going on. I would love to have a new one.

The timing of Sony killing off all their 1st party FPS/TPS franchises all seemed to lineup with them obtaining the CoD marketing and timed exclusivity deal in 2015. Nowadays it seems Sony only sees FPS/TPS as an excuse for live service chasing which is sad.

I still can't believe how badly Sony failed to take advantage of their franchises this generation. They have so many great multiplayer modes across franchises and not a single one was able to become a game worth releasing. An abject failure of development and leadership across the board.

PSVR2 support with „big games“, which are more than random FPS or arcade games, is really dire.

I even saved RE4 Remake for over a year, and now I‘m saving Hitman, so I know that I can look forward to at least one great PSVR2 game in future. And this is just sad.

There's a lot of games stuck on the PS3 that need to be brought to modern platforms.

At least Killzone got a collab with Helldivers.

Loved Killzone, especially that weighty, grounded feeling and those PS3 graphics were way ahead of their time. Way better than the resistance trilogy where movement and shooting felt so impactless. Killzone's story never amounted to much however and Halo is generally the better game.

Also, who here finished Killzone 3 with the sharpshooter in coop? So much fun!

I got Killzone shadow fall at launch with my PS4 and really enjoyed it... I thought it was quite cinematic and looked amazing at the time.

PS. Resistance and killzone are in my top fav FPS, not my fault Sony don’t want to make them anymore.
Therefore I have to get excited about the halo remake and COD etc.

it feels like way more people have good memories of games like killzone and resistance then people that actually bought the game. Sadly the first horizon game sold the entire killzone and resistance series combined , including psp , vita games. if more people supported the games back then they would still be around.

@NathanUC i mean we still have that un-named project delta which people can fly is working on , why they are keeping it so secretive and haven't announced a single detail doesn't give it much promise.

KZ2&3 were epic, Shadow Fall was a disaster IMO. So it's better be Halo than another SF

Well.Sony had many shooters IPs, had PS3 era live service games but why bother these days to compete smartly or for other key audiences instead.

Surprised Killzone even got a Hellsivers 2 feature. Not just PS+ releases of fhe old ones.

Also Shadowfall put it in an old place so who knows. Or are they out of ideas for reference to translate for story.

Let alone gameplay was not much. Heavy, a store front and odd 1 gun slot used up among other ok vehicles and more. It didn't do much. But I have played many PS3 era shooters woth their gimmicks so yeah.
