PS Portal Push Square

Sony is planning to release a new model of its PS Portal streaming device with an upgraded OLED screen, according to the latest online speculation.

Via KeplerL2, who has shared various reports in the past, Sony is apparently looking to put out a PS Portal OLED version later this year. It's not stated whether there'll be any other upgrades for the PS5 accessory to go alongside the enhanced screen.

Should the claim prove to be true, it will build on the base version, which has been a big success story for Sony. Having repeatedly spoken of how the device exceeded the company's expectations, the latest estimates in the USA have 7% of PS5 players also owning a PS Portal.

An updated model could also work as a stopgap before the rumoured PS6 handheld hits the market, which will run PS5 titles as a result of the recent Power Saver mode introduced in a firmware update.

Alongside being able to stream your PS5 library via the Remote Play feature, the PS Portal was recently upgraded to allow streaming of any title in your PSN library on PS Plus Premium. You no longer need to have the game downloaded to your console in order to stream it. With an OLED screen on top, your PS5, PS4 titles will look even better on the go — if the claim is true.

Would an OLED screen tempt you to pick up a PS Portal, or upgrade from your current one? Let us know in the comments below.
