Like we said, it's a strange month, which means that August 2018's free PlayStation Plus games won't be announced until Wednesday, 1st August. Don't worry, though, you'll find all of the news the second we have it right here on Push Square, and on our YouTube channel.

August 2018's free PS Plus games will be made available on the first Tuesday in the month, which is 7th August this year.
What are August 2018’s free PS Plus games?
The main new PS4 game due out on 7th August is Overcooked 2, but it's been a long time since Sony gave away a brand new indie title day and date. The company's generally been leaning into its archives instead, like with July 2018's PS+ offering of Absolver and Heavy Rain. We still wouldn't be surprised if some third-party publishers used Sony's service to try and promote one of their upcoming holiday titles, so games like Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Hitman seem possible to us – especially seeing as both franchises have sequels on the way.

Dead Cells and Detroit become human are my picks.
I’d be down for Hitman. I’ve never played a Hitman game. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I still would suggest the same games I mentioned in previous months:
Night in the Woods, Prey, Nex Machina, Witness. Or a couple new ideas - how about Doom or Wolfenstein A New Order for those of us that skipped those. All games that are well loved yet older and oft discounted but I just can’t seem to crack my wallet open to buy.

Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice since we are not getting a VR version and the fact that Ninja Theory partnered with Microsoft..

Mafia III and Rise of Tomb Raider have been reduced in lots of places recently sometimes that's an indication. Would be typical as I finally got round to buying Tomb Raider last week.
God of War and Assassins Creed Origins (totally unrealistic I know).
Being realistic, I'd say Nier Automata, Uncharted 4, the last of us and/or the last guardian.

Anyone who says Detroit Become Human doesn't understand how this works. There is no reason they would give away a new $60 where there is a back catalog of PS4 games they haven't given away yet.

Beyond and Heavy Rain were both remasters of a PS3 title. Detroit is a brand new title exclusive for the PS4.

It is still more realistic than detroit or dark souls remastered which were released this year.
Are there specific rules for a game to be on ps plus?
I know the game is barely 1.5 year old but it is widely available at a cheap price.

It still sells for $40 to $50 and its a major exclusive for the console they will not give it away for free this early. There are launch games, like Killzone Shadowfall they have never given away. I wasn't being aggressive, just confused by you saying it makes more sense for it to be given away.
guys, I know it`s not a good place, but should I give No Man's Sky a try? last time was pretty disappointing. Did update do anything with it?

No Man's Sky would be a good choice because its old, very inexpensive ($19.99 new at Walmart right now) and the update makes it feel like a whole new game. The multiplayer adds some much needed flavor to the whole thing.
The Flame in the Flood and Hidden Agenda
HELLBLADE: Senua's Sacrifice is my pick, but the game is still relatively new so I doubt we'll see it as a freebie anytime soon. Still, would love to have that eventually.

Yakuza 0 would be a great PS plus game. It's in a weird situation where you have to try it to see if you like it.
I already have it, but I am --expecting-- Tomb Raider. Personally hoping it will instead be Rise of the Tomb Raider since I do NOT have that one.

@LaNooch1978 Yeah it's because it's a weird month where the last day in July is a Tuesday, and the first Tuesday in August is on 7th August. The PS Plus games always come out on the first Tuesday in the month, so the lineup won't be announced until 1st August.
