Given that December's PlayStation Plus lineup was leaked more than a week before the official announcement, we had assumed that there wouldn't be much drama surrounding the selection. But boy oh boy, we couldn't have been more wrong.
In fact, this has turned out to be one of the most controversial PS Plus updates of 2021. In case you somehow missed the outrage, Godfall: Challenger Edition — the new version of Godfall that's launching on PS Plus — is not the full game. It doesn't include the title's core, story-driven campaign, or its expansions. Instead, it throws new players directly into endgame content, with the idea being that they can jump straight into the action with the best character builds and weapons.
Needless to say, the decision to include Challenger Edition as part of PS Plus has not gone down well with subscribers. Many feel as though they're being given a glorified demo rather than a full game, once again calling the value of PS Plus into question. Others have reasonable concerns over the fact that inexperienced players will have to adapt very quickly to some of Godfall's hardest challenges. The whole thing's a mess.
But hey, at least Mortal Shell is a solid Souls-like and LEGO DC Super-Villains is fun, right? Are they enough to distract you from the Godfall situation? As always, have your say in our polls, and then give us your honest opinion in the comments section below.
