The witch hunt continues. I’m be so pleased when the term A.I slop finally dies.

I don’t think I have any platinum trophies. I don’t even look at them to be honest. I have a friend who is a completionist and I swear it stresses him out more than anything 😂

I think it’s a whitewash for Clair obscur. It’s my game of the year by a long way and I don’t see it being beaten.

It’s no threat to the ps5, but if the price is right I’ll pick one up. I like my steam deck but I’d probably sell it to buy this because I’d appreciate a bit of extra power.

I’m intrigued by how they price and position this.

I’m in no man’s land at the moment. I’ve fallen off ghost of yotei (although I plan to return) and have been dipping in and out of:

Balatro (someone help me!)
Witcher 3 (3rd attempt to click with this)
Arc raiders (enjoying but it’s more of a short bursts game for me)
Undertale

Nothing is holding my attention for long so I think it’s a me problem.

I've only played a few hours. I've enjoyed what I've played but I'm not sure that I fully ‘get it’ yet. I'm going in collecting some scrap and evacuating without doing much else.

I've opened up a few more maps but not ventured oit of the first one yet.

Need to find some time to sit and play for longer than an hour to get my head around it all.

I bought rogue trader on steam deck but it doesn't run great. Might have to double dip now.

I sold my portal to buy a steam deck. I like the steam deck and access to so many cheap games, but the portal was so much nicer to hold and use. I rarely stream from my ps5 to the steam deck anymore as it just doesn't feel great.

Ghost of Yotei is great, but I'm finding myself struggling to finish it. It's absolutely beautiful but feels a little less captivating than GoT for some reason.

I voted for Arc Raiders as that's distracted me and I'm really enjoying the loop so far.

As an aside… balatro has a similar effect on me that tiktok has on people who use it - I become an addicted wide eyed zombie! 😂

I made some seemingly contradictory votes in this one. Tiktok is not changing my gaming habits but it's certainly changing the way people engage with other entertainment. It's incredibly addictive and is effecting peoples attention spans. Personally, I'm fine, but I've seen the effect it has on other people and the amount of their time it consumes.

It is not just young people on tiktok, nor is it only dance routines and makeup tutorials. Everything is on tiktok, from wood working, to fishing, to reading and gaming.

@Nem i didnt say ai can ‘discover’ anything. It can take information and find patterns and solutions way quicker than humans though.

I've now booted up Halo 2. Never played it before but looking forward to diving in.

@TensuraFan7 yeah, that could happen (I don't think it will, but it could). But it's already happening and it's not going to stop or slow down.

Graphics look like a huge upgrade!

I played the original for the first time a few months ago and really enjoyed it. I won't be getting this but it does look good.

Of course. All games companies will use ai in the very near future. There won't be a business around that isn't using it in some form or another within 5-10 years.

I understand the ethical concerns but it is 100% too late. When it's capable of creating vaccines that scientists have been working on for years, in a matter of hours, you know we've reached a point of no return. It's just become too effective and too useful.

It's not worth arguing about - its already happened.

Ghost of yotei and chained echoes.

I will probably buy it on launch as long as the price isn’t above £500-550, but I’m not especially excited at the prospect. I love the ps5 but it hasn’t done anything particularly exciting or felt like a big jump forward from the ps4.

I’m torn between an 8 and a 9. I am really enjoying it but I’m not sure it reached the very upper levels. I’m only 15 hours in so it may end up being a 9.

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare I've played around 10-15 hours I think. I enjoyed it but I've fallen off a couple of times. I think it's mostly because cowboys aren't my thing, but I've also never completed a GTA.

With the exception of truly ground-breaking, mindblowing open worlds like botw and elden ring, this and ghost are my favourite open worlds. They've nailed the balance of exploration and map markers and it makes the whole experience feel free and organic without being overwhelming.

Ghost of Yotei will be my main this weekend, although I plan on spending a bit more time in octopath traveller 2 and Hogwarts legacy if time allows.

@Titntin Once again… I never claimed anything was more expensive than it used to be. You’ve created a straw man.

@Titntin I don’t think I made any claims that it was more expensive now than it was then (objectively speaking). I merely stated that I can’t bring myself to spend £70 on a game, which is a psychological barrier. When games were £50 or less (even if that was the same amount of money) I didn’t mind buying them. Unfortunately, I believe, that barrier also exists in many other people’s minds so it will effect game sales on day one.

I just cannot bring myself to pay £60-70 for a game. I earn decent money and can afford it, so I can’t even imagine the effect this is going to have on day 1 game sales across the board.

Loved GoT but couldn’t justify the price of this one at the moment…

Then I saw the topcashback deal for £15 back and ordered it from Argos 😂 I’m so weak!

Horribly stuck on Silksong. I just can’t beat the gauntlet in the high halls.

I’ve been playing octopath traveller 2 as a way to decompress. Seeing as I’m sick as a dog I think that will make up most of my weekend’s gaming time.

GoT is probably my favourite open world game that isn’t Zelda or Elden Ring. The first one was so beautiful and so polished. I might not pick this up day one because of my backlog, but I’m excited to play it.

I’ve never played any of these games before but I’m playing the demo at the moment (8 hours in) and I think I’m going to buy it when I’m done. It’s just such a nice change of pace as I struggle my way through Silksong.

Silksong. I think this game might break me.

When I get too stuck I’ll be dipping in and out of the trails in the sky demo. I’m enjoying it so far other than the cringe inducing anime tropes/characters.

I think my answer for the next few weeks will be silksong. I'm still in act 1 after 30 hours. This game is HARD. It might be the hardest game I've ever played and I've completed all the From Software games.

I'm loving it. I've played around 25 hours since launch and I don't think I'm even close to the end of act 1.

I'm giving it a provisional 9/10 with my main complaint being some of the cheap difficulty. Bosses who summon minions are always annoying but there are multiple instances in this game. I'm also finding some of the locked rooms with swarms of enemies frustrating.

Despite those minor issues, the game is a masterpiece. It might end up being 10/10 but will have to see how the rest pans out.

My cousins had one at launch so I played it quite a bit. Finally got my own around 1998 with WWF Warzone and (I think) crash bandicoot.

I don't think the games have held up very well but at the time they were amazing. I'd always played games starting with a zx spectrum, nes, snes, megadrive but it was the PlayStation that got me hooked.

I would buy every issue of official PlayStation magazine and play all of the demos to death.

Silksong - damn this game is hard!

I've been playing for the last hour or two. I was a little worried how I'd get on with it because of how much I enjoyed hollow knight, but its giving me the same feeling as when I played that for the first time. Brilliant so far.

I need to uninstall Balatro again. The game is like crack.…

I bought AC Valhalla on sale so ill finally be diving into that. I'll be getting silksong day 1 so I'm sure that will take over my life when it finally drops.

I’m in a bit of a rut at the moment. Got metaphor refantazio and far cry 3 (first ever far cry game) on the go but struggling to get through either. It’s me not them!

Probably going back to metaphor refantazio after taking a break for DK bananza.

I loved ghost of Tsushima. Excluding breath of the wild (and now Elden ring) it was my favourite ever open world game. I pretty much completed everything in the game, which is something I rarely do. Very much looking forward to the follow up!

Randomly playing binary domain after hearing about it on a podcast. It’s so good!

Coming towards the end of cyberpunk. I took a gamble on this one because of a problem with motion sickness in first person games, but I’ve eased myself in with shorter play sessions and I’ve been mostly fine.

I’ve really enjoyed my time with this game but it’s def more linear than I was expecting. I’m mostly just travelling from point a to point b and ticking off objectives. I should probably spend some time just exploring map markers and seeing what happens before I finish the story.

There’s a lot of outrage around the use of ai but it’s honestly too late. Ai is here to stay and will be used in almost every aspect of our lives within the next couple of years. Every major brand and business will be using it. It’s honestly a waste of energy getting worked up about it.

I’m about 10 hours into cyberpunk at the moment. It’s a bit more linear than I was expecting so far, but I’m enjoying it. Playing in short bursts to avoid motion sickness.

Clair obscur is going to be hard to beat for game of the year. I still need to get back into KCD2
