It’s a weird game. I don’t think it lived up to the excitement I felt watching the trailer and reading reviews but I’ve only just reached the second area (bahtaal?) about 28 hours in.
I love the pawn mechanic. It’s such an interesting system and has genuinely surprised me at times.
Combat is quite fun and I enjoy changing up vocations and skills, etc but I do wish it was a bit more skill based (I’m a dark souls guy so I enjoy being more in control of the combat rather than setting everything up in the menu then button bashing).
Exploration is good and the world looks amazing on the whole.
I don’t enjoy the lack of fast travel and having to walk back and forth between locations constantly. I don’t mind the system but I’d like more ferrystones so I could fast travel a little more often.
Enemy variety is definitely lacking. But I guess if the combat strategy doesn’t change that much it’s not that important.
I wanted to love this game, but I think I only like it. I would recommend it but with caveats.
Dragons Dogma 2 - I have mixed feelings about this game. I do wish there were more fast travel options. I enjoy exploring and opening up the map but when I have to go back and forth between the same locations I do find myself getting frustrated. It’s still probably the best game I’ve played in ages despite that.
Also HD2 which I think is going to be an ongoing love affair. It’s the first time I’ve ever got into an online multiplayer game.
Yup. Took me an hour or two to get to grips with it but I’m rolling now. I can see myself sinking a lot of time into this game.
If you’re avoiding because of micro transactions you’re missing out. They literally make no difference to the game if you ignore them. Performance has been ok so far but I’m still early on in the game.
Played an hour of dragons dogma 2 last night and it seems fun but also a little overwhelming. Looking forwards to a free afternoon/evening to really spend some time getting the hang of it today.
I’ve finally accepted that I’m not going to finish RE4 remake and uninstalled it. I don’t know why I couldn’t get through it but for some reason it’s not clicking for me. I loved the original and have beaten it multiple times in the past.
I’ve tried to get into a few other games but nothings held my attention for long. I ended up picking up Jedi Survivor in the latest sale and I’m actually enjoying that - I think From Software ruined a lot of games for me, and this is a similar style of gameplay to dark souls etc.
And Helldivers 2 of course. Liberty isn’t going to fight for itself.
I got mine at launch and I love it. At least 50% of my gaming time is spent on it now and it’s increased the amount of time I spend gaming massively because I don’t need to fight for tv time anymore.
It works great on my WiFi - nothing is hard wired. I’ve even had a great time on Helldivers with it.
Still plodding along with RE4 remake. I’m struggling to get a longer play session in so it’s taking me ages doing little bits at a time.
It’s also the first game I’ve come across that I haven’t enjoyed playing on the PS Portal. I find it hard to see what’s going on and even harder to aim.
Slowly working my way through RE4 remake. It’s really good but not so good I can’t put it down. I’m playing an hour or so every now and then. Only just reached the castle.
Also It Takes Two with my wife which is super fun (although it’s her first ‘proper’ 3D game and she’s struggling with controlling the camera)
Coming towards the back end of BG3 (2nd time through). Just got the final bosses to beat. Family arrive today for Xmas so I won’t have much time for gaming unless I can sneak away for some Portal.
I enjoyed Blasphemous 2. Until the final 1/3 I LOVED it, but I felt it really let itself down towards the end by just throwing huge numbers of (recycled) enemies at you. It became annoying and frustrating for all the wrong reasons.
I’m not against this but I want the option to turn it off.
I love difficult games, I’ve beaten every From Soft game and eventually made my way through Returnal (after an embarrassing number of hours/attempts) but I don’t want every game to be super challenging. The combat in BG3 was annoying me so I turned it down and I’m enjoying that game so much more now.
Finally finished BG3 this week and was excited to move on to RE4 remake or one of the other smaller games I bought in the Black Friday sale…
What actually happened is I created a new character and started BG3 again from the beginning. I’m now 9 hours in to a second playthrough and so far everything has been completely different. Such a great game.
I got my portal this week so I’ve been dipping in and out of different games to test it. Over the weekend I plan to crack on and make some progress through BG3 act 3.
I got mine yesterday and have only spent an hour or so on it. I was worried about performance as my ps5 isn’t hard wired into the router but it’s been perfect so far (in the same room at least) - no noticeable lag and way less blurry than remote play on my iMac or phone.
Only issue so far is how long it takes to wake up my ps5. Sometimes it fails to do so completely which is annoying.
I wasn’t sure I’d like this game and was going to hold out for physical so I could sell it if it didn’t click. FOMO got the better of me and I took the plunge on release week. I regret nothing and it’s a game that will have a permanent spot on my hard drive along with Elden ring, bloodborne and Returnal.
I’m still near the beginning of Act 3 in BG3. Flew through 1 & 2 but short on time the last few weeks. I think I’m also a little overwhelmed with how much there is to do.
BG3 it’s been slow progress lately due to a lack of gaming time. Almost screwed myself last night getting into a battle I was unprepared for by mistake and my previous save being over an hour prior. Scraped through in the end.
BG3. Finally reached the outskirts of Baldurs Gate last weekend but got overwhelmed and stopped playing. This week has been rather stressful so I plan on detaching from the real world and making some more progress through act 3. Such a great game.
Finished act 2 of Baldurs gate 3 last night (although I managed to miss one of the primary objectives so no bear-man friend for me)
I love this game so much. I’m excited to get to Baldurs Gate. Unless act 3 really falls apart this is my GOTY and quite possibly my favourite game of all time.
I’ve never used my ps5 vertically with a stand. It’s stands up fine by itself. I didn’t realise that was a problem re: airflow. I’ve not had any problems so far but should probably look for the stand sometime soon.
Especially with the hours I’m putting into BG3 at the moment.
Just bit the bullet on Baldurs Gate 3. I’ve been on the fence due to the digital only price and not knowing if I’ll like it. But the hype has gotten to me and it’s unlikely to be discounted anytime soon.
Completed Blasphemous 2 this week. I absolutely loved it until the final 1/4 of the game which had a ridiculously frustrating difficulty spike out of nowhere. It felt like they tacked the end on to make it last longer. I was sitting at 9/10 until that point. I’d give it a solid 7.
I also abandoned my playthrough of super Metroid last night. I got all the way to Ridley but ended up underpowered and couldn’t face backtracking for energy tanks. It’s a great game and way ahead of its time but the controls were driving me mad at times. I didn’t always feel like I had full control of Samus. It probably wasn’t a good idea playing this immediately after Blasphemous.
I’ve been playing divinity original sin 2 to see whether this is something I would enjoy but I’m too undecided to pay full price. I’ve put about 25 hours into divinity and still don’t really know what I’m doing or how anything works.
Trying to get my head around 4 different characters and what to level them up and equip them with is pretty overwhelming.
I will almost certainly buy BG3 but am most likely going to wait for a sale. Unless I bite the bullet on the Portal in which case I’ll get it then. Seems like a perfect game for handheld.
After a lot of googling I’ve finally found a decent emulator for iPad that works offline. I’m off to Spain for a week so will be spending time with some snes/gba/DS classics
Trying to play divinity original sin 2 to get an idea of whether I’ll like Baldurs gate 3. So far I have no idea what I’m doing or how anything works… I want to like this game.
The reviews have me interested. I’ll be honest, it all looks a bit complicated and overwhelming. I struggled to get into Divinity but I am tempted to give this a go.
Will probably finish the Lies of P demo this weekend. It’s excellent based on what I’ve played. Definitely the best non FromSoft souls game I’ve tried.
After that I’m going to try the SF6 demo before heading back to the Switch for Metroid Prime

Also Helldivers 2 as usual
Re: Latest Helldivers 2 Patch Introduced a Pesky Crashing Issue, Developer Is On the Case
Yep, same. Have to remember to reset my weapons every time I load the game. The tutorial tips are probably even more annoying though!

I dont know why im not finishing my RE4 remake playthrough but all of my free time this weekend will be spent with Dave the Diver and Helldivers 2
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 518
Off to Iceland this weekend so no gaming time for me.
Helldivers 2 has completely detailed me from RE4 remake which I will finish one day.

I STILL haven’t finished RE4 remake which I’ve been playing for weeks. I’ve become distracted by Helldivers 2 which I’m really enjoying.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 512
Getting destroyed by slay the spire - I cannot beat this game with The Silent!!
Also continuing with RE4 remake
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 509
Finally finished my 2nd playthrough of BG3. Astarion and Shadowheart sure were dark this time!
Made a start on RE4 remake but I’m off to Thailand on 2nd Jan so that will be put on hold for a while.

Not much gaming time this weekend as I’m seeing friends. What time I do get will be continuing my second BG3 playthrough.

Re: Poll: What's Your Most Anticipated PS5 Game of 2024?

Continuing my second playthrough of BG3. Just got to act 3.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 505
Second playthrough of BG3 - as an open hand monk this time Also want to go back to my first save to check out the new epilogue.
Re: Massive PS Store Sale Makes 2,800+ PS5, PS4 Games Cheaper Than Ever
@SuperSilverback I did the same before BG3 came out. I didn’t totally love Divinity 2 but it was enough to convince me to at least try BG3.
I’m totally converted. BG3 is probably the best game I’ve ever played and I’ve just re-bought D2 on PS5 to play it all the way through.
Re: Massive PS Store Sale Makes 2,800+ PS5, PS4 Games Cheaper Than Ever
I’ve been waiting for a sale on divinity 2. I already own it on steam but I’m not a fan of playing on my laptop so haven’t beaten it.
This will sell like hotcakes after the success of BG3!

Totk was a shoe in for this until BG3 dropped. I’d respect either decision but it’s BG for me.

Coming towards the end of Act 1 in Baldurs Gate 3. I can’t believe there’s a game that might top TOTK for my GOTY.
