Welcome to October, the month of spooky times. It's a little while before Halloween arrives, but there's so much to play right now, including the newly released Ghost of Yotei. Don't forget our guide!
Aaron Bayne
It's got to be Ghost of Yotei for me this weekend!
Jamie O'Neill
The spooky month is upon us, and it's four years since this game arrived on PS4 in October 2021, so I'll be flying a witch on her broomstick through slick Space Harrier-like sprite scaling backgrounds, shooting beasties in the technical marvel that's Mega Drive Panorama Cotton.

After a trip over the last week, I now need to get back to work... In my gacha games! Haha, no I have a bunch of reviews lined up, but I do also need to wrap up the latest events in Zenless Zone Zero.
That's what we're playing this weekend, then, but what about the rest of you? As always, let us know in the comments section below.

This week I 100%ed Spider-Man 2 and it was a fun ride!
Now I am starting Kingdoms of Amalur that I have not played for a long time!
I will continue my playthrough of Resident Evil Village and enjoy the hidden brilliance of Faxanadu!
Ghost of yotei and sword of the sea trophy clean up.
Hopefully manage to help get the stragglers from our group through the two remaining missions of Aliens: Fireteam Elite on Insane. It’s gonna dig up some past trauma for sure!
… and then beat the last boss in Final Fantasy: Pixel Remaster for the platinum. As someone whose first FF was XV, it’s been a pleasant surprise… and I’ve been a little blown away by its ambition and scope given the era and hardware it comes from.
Ghost of Yotei (obvs)
Ghost of Yotei first and foremost - I'm in a second area after playing all day yesterday and the way it improves on every aspect of Tsushima is to be commended, especially the revised fighting style. I keep flipping between Performance and Ray Tracing modes on the OG PS5, either way it's also a stunning-looking game.
Ghost of Yotei(And SHf) and holy crap this sequel is such a massive improvement over the original in exploration and combat. I still miss Jin, but Atsu is a cool character
This weekend I'll be on assassin's creed unity only started it the other day and I'm loving playing a proper old school assassin's creed game again after almost a decade away from the series!
I'll also be on Helldivers 2 and wheel of fortune just for the laugh!
I'll also try fit in some cod beta if I can!
Happy weekend y'all 🌟🕺
@Nepp67 Bu-bu-but the game is too "samey" remember...
Shadowrun Dragonfall
Being blown away still by Clair Obscur Expedition 33 on GamePass (sorry 😅) a game fully deserving it's reputation. Utterly brilliant.
More Tempest Rising on PC - the best RTS in years, bringing the golden years back !
Going to restart and commit to System Shock 2 Remastered on PC - still one of the best games ever made.
It really is a great time to be a gamer ! Enjoy, guys ❤️
I've dropped Silksong for now, frustration finally won out against my adoration. So instead I shall be romping around Ezo doing A Big Revenge in Ghost of Yotei, I'm about 6 hours in and I am already getting distracted by every bit of side content..
I am playing Wolfenstein: New Order. I have fet like shooting nazis lately, in videogame form.
It's funny that I remember a time not so long ago that shooting nazis felt boring. Or, it was not only "boring," but also, it felt rote, dour, and cloying. It was just killing robots, demons, or zombies (to be redundant), etc was the enemy that we could all agree with. At the time of something like early sixth or seventh gen, it got old. Sigh.
Times change, but shooting nazis feels good again. Cause I haven't played a "military shooter" in a while, and shooting nazi trash is only a good thing. I just did not play military shooters when I was in the ARMY.
Also, The New Order feels like Perfect Dark or Timesplitters, but evolved.
@Nepp67 ...gggr I've been holding off but now you've totally convinced me to buy it 😅 got it arriving tmrw now 🙄
Still trying to finish Dying Light the beast and started God of War Ragnarok the other day never finished it at release had to start a new playthrough as i forgot all the controls. I'm also trying to stop myself buying Ghost of Yotei trying to clear up more of my backlog but I'm struggling to resist lol.
The Ghost with the most.
Greetings fellow video game enthusiasts. I finished Hollow Knight, and boy, WHAT a game. It’s always worth delving into your backlog. I’m now playing Sonic Racing Crossworlds as a pallet cleanser and having immense fun. Let’s weekend.
I wrapped up The Messenger and it's DLC Picnic Panic during the week. Still have a few collectables to get on Picnic Panic, so I'll be dipping in and out of that, however, I have decided to largely switch from a fantasy comedy game to a sci-fi comedy game and have started Ratchet & Clank Tools of Destruction. So that's what I'm intending to play this weekend.
Well, if it works, that is. I unsealed my brand new copy last night and it was acting very oddly - unexplained gameplay pauses, slowdown and stuttering on cutscenes, and a little way into the second level it froze completely, I got what looked like some memory addresses appear on my screen, then my PS3 did what I can only describe as a 'weird restart'.
After that, it was significantly better, but still with problems with cutscene sound being out of sync. The game itself has been 'classic R&C' so far, muscle memory is coming back for the moves quickly and the game has already raised a chuckle or two (The Groovitron!), in spite of the issues. Fingers crossed the problems go away as I play.
Enjoy the weekend, fellow Push Squarians.
@Rangers420 ...see my above comment 🤣
KCDII, KCD1, Cyberpunk 2077 - haha Panam is still one of the best, TW3, Elden Ring, some RDR2 probably. Just a bit of a whole lot.
I’m actually playing the Remake of Resident Evil 3. I finally got around to it. Perfect for the month of October. Will be playing Shinobi Art if Vengeance as well.
@TheArt id like to meet Panam in real life 🤣🤣
Ghost Of Yotei looks Incredible on the Pro. Cronos the new dawn and Silent Hill f
@Mintie how far did you get?
I’m deep into act 2 cut have hit a wall atm.
There’s the room in high halls with 9 waves of enemies that’s just too difficult for me. Gutted as I love the game and wanna see what the rest of the game has to offer.
I won’t give up but I need a break too.
Suikoden II mainly, with a bit of Sniper Elite sprinkled in here and there, just to keep it real you know?
@Marquez I play most games with Ray Tracing on, performance is nice but a bit overblown or somewhat overrated on the internet depending on the game. A game like HFW plays like a dream on performance but others not so much. No wonder devs didn't really pay attention to it for a time and most games were just 30fps. I am highly enjoying Elden Ring with Quality and RT on.
@KingPev So far in my first 8 hours it improves on a lot of my issues with the first game's exploration and doesn't feel so straight forward compared to the first game since the quest system works differently where you gain information on your main quest by exploring.
I’ll be playing some CO-OP Coral Island later tonight, which is an amazing game.
Tomorrow I’ll be finishing up Alien Rogue Incursion which even in non VR was really good! Definitely worth £20.
Then later tomorrow night I’ll be playing Borderlands 4 CO-OP which I am loving! There’s so much to do and the open world is fun to explore.
After all that I’ll probably just sit around and wait for Battlefield 6 to be released!
Ghost of Yotei, as I take in the beautiful scenery and explore an age from long ago. It almost makes me think of Red Dead Redemption 2🤔
Still on the Xbox because my PS5 is playing silly buggers. Started playing Hogwarts Legacy again as it's on Game Pass (which I've downgraded because those new prices are ridiculous).
Puzzle Quest Immortal
I'm still finishing off Hollow Knight, and some Hogwarts Legacy. I've also become re-addicted to the original Doom, I'm playing the Final Doom levels at the moment.
I'm still not sure about Ghost of Yokei (almost wrote Yorkie 😂), I'm still a bit salty about the upgrade path for Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Yotei, Ghost of Yotei and more Ghost of Yotei.
More Silksong for me. I beat First Sinner last night. Everyone seems to complain about the runbacks but I don't mind them. Gives you a chance to change your build and maybe go elsewhere. With First Sinner I didn't get that option, the game forced me into taking her out without any tools. I feel like Neo in the Matrix when I finally see patterns and go toe to toe with the bosses. As when you first encounter them they seem ridiculously impossible only for you to take them out no problem several attempts later.
Have a good weekend everyone!
Ghost of Yotei. Loving it so far but very very early days. looks amazing even on PS5 (base) performance mode.
Must look amazing on pro ray tracing at 60fps 😱
Got Ghost of Yotei to put a few more hours in to. Liking it so far despite it feeling very familiar. Purchased Hades for the switch in the sale for £5 but I'm yet to make it to the end. I will also take a look at the weekly races on GT7. Apart from that I will be continuing to read the Da Vinci code then on to Inferno.
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, taking my sweet time with it
Ghost of Yotei... Started playing it after work yesterday and haven't stopped, except for a few hours sleep. Looks and plays so good on my Pro 🤤
I'm in Clifton today as my wife has just had to take her art into a gallery for her 1st exhibition so I won't be playing much until later this evening. I did buy dirt 4 for the paltry sum of £6 so hopefully that will be in the letter box when I get home..I think that now completes my dirt rally collection on the ps4/ps5..have a great weekend everybody 👍
Having finally played Spiderman Remastered and having 100% completed it early during the week, Im ready to be a ghost all weekend.
Im really enjoying Ghost of Yotei and intend to savour the experience this weekend.
Sadly, I will be unplugging and putting my series x away, as it was my Game Pass machine and I cant justify that subscription any longer following the changes. Sad times.
@KingPev Haha such beauty and the voice acting is just incredible! Other female characters I love right now are Katherine of KCD2 - gosh the beauty and our Lune of Clairrr Obscurrr hehe.
Ghost of Yotei will be my main this weekend, although I plan on spending a bit more time in octopath traveller 2 and Hogwarts legacy if time allows.
Playing and loving the excellent Ghost of yotei. I loved Tsushima ,but yotei improves its significantly. Only Sony can make these types of games.
I’m playing a certain samurai sword play game, of course, I’m talking about… Fate / Samurai (I will get around to Ghost of Yotei, funds just aren’t allowing it this month 😄)
In all seriousness though, Fate / Samurai dropped quite quietly on PS Extra a month or so back and it’s a genuine hidden gem, I’m having a really good time with it. If you have seen the anime it definitely does a great job of capturing that tone, but I’m fairly confident it’d work just as well going in blind (it explains everything and is set many years before the anime takes place, so is totally standalone). It can be a bit talky in places, but the combat is a hell of a lot of fun, especially when you’re able to start switching characters. Highly recommend for anyone on the look out to fill the gap in between buying / playing something 🙂
Have a good weekend folks!
Yotei for me as well this weekend, been loving it so far. Only other release left this calendar year I’m really excited for is Ninja Gaiden 4 so definitely taking my time and basking in Yotei.
Ghost of Yotei primarily, but also a bit of
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 as the DLC's were longer than I expected so i'm still dipping into that from time to time.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land+ Star-Crossed World (no, I didn't type it manually).
Some people enjoy gritty cinematic games about revenge and cycle of violence, some prefer colorful fun games that tell you to stuff your belly and nap for a while to be happy. Be happy and have a nice weekend.
@TheArt I tend to play on whatever quality mode is available, unless the game genuinely demands rapid reflexes. Then my old eyes are assisted nicely by performance modes! I'm hoping Yotei gets a 40fps mode, as I have a 120Hz VRR TV I find it's usually my sweet spot.
I will continued be playing fan favorite the excellent the evil within.i will also continued playing one of the best video games ever made in the incredible dying light the following. I will also continued playing the instant classic in the little nightmares 2.with all the dlcs.i will also continued playing one of the best video games ever made in the phenomenal fallout 4 game of the year edition.and I will continued playing the underrated wonderful evil west.my pittsburgh steelers 💛🖤 is off this weekend. So they playing good.i will watch legendary sitcoms TV 📺 comedy shows in family matters.good times.the Jeffersons.sanford and son.different strokes.and saved by the bell.word up son
PS5: Battlefield 1, Call of Duty: Cold War and Kingdom hearts 1 (remastered). Waiting for Battlefield 6 which I preordered.
Lies of P: currently Level 72. Defeated the boss in the Grand Exhibition and have just reached the Barren Swamp.
Monster Train: won with Umbra allied with Melting Remnant. Won with Melting Remnant allied with Hellhorned and levelled Rector Flicker up to Burn Bright III. Won with Melting Remnant allied with Stygian Guard and levelled Rector Flicker up to Dark Calling III.
F1 23: won in Singapore and I'm leading both the Drivers Championship and Constructors Championship for McLaren.
Hollow Knight: cleaning up the geo deposits in the Forgotten Crossroads before heading off to Greenpath.
Euro Truck Simulator 2: Delivered plastic film rolls from Debrecen to Banská Bystricá. Delivered pesto from Banská Bystrica to Prague. Delivered truck tyres from Prague to Bratislava. Delivered sawdust panels from Bratislava to Szeged. Delivered fireworks from Szeged to Innsbruck. After 81 days my Ziggurat Spedition trucking empire has 25 trucks.
On Playstation it could only be Yotei which is magnificent so far and definitely a end of the year goty nominee. It all just feels and looks so good
On Nintendo Hades 2. This one I'm enjoying but a 94/100 is insanely overrated. The story is not great so far and the dialogue is so positive it makes Steven Universe look like it has more familial drama. What keeps me playing is the much better combat system. This game is tough and you actually have to think about spacing.
Ghost of Yotei, Silent Hill F, Lego Voyagers, and Hades 2. I suspect I’ll play all four of them in some capacity.
So far, I’ve yet to start Silent Hill F, so it’s hard to comment on it, but Lego Voyagers seems like it’s pretty underrated. My son and I have had fun with it to start. Meanwhile, I’m still making opinions of Hades 2 and Ghost. To start, they both feel like sequels that don’t quite hit like the first games in their series, but that could just be because it’s early in both of them for me. I am sort of surprised by how similar AC Shadows’s seed plot is to Yotei too. Even though Atsu’s a very different character and the way the stories are told are different, it’s sort of interesting that the revenge narrative was put down in two massive games this year like that.
@Hurblyburbly I'm still in act 1, I've freed Bellheart and was just going around moping up secrets and stuff and the area where the Beastfly is... I only gave him a couple attempts (usually I have no problem knuckling down and throwing myself at something until I learn it) and my brain just went 'Nope, we're done for now'
Lego Party, Xenotilt and Beat Hazard Ultra 👍
I’m at the very end game of Bloodborne. I’ll wait before entering the final bosses before I’ve played the DLC though, I heard there’s a point of no return.
Having a blast with this game! I always read this is one of the hardest games, but I guess Elden Ring and Returnal have upped my skills since I don’t have a lot of trouble with it.
Got into unicorn overload as it was one of the few interesting streamable games on plus I hadn’t played, and I was stuck in a hotel for 9 days…now I can’t stop playing it. Everything else on hold currently.
Ghost of Tsushima - first playthrough - loving it!
Deep Rock Galactic.
ROCK AND STONE!!
Today I'll be making some progress in Silent Hill f and playing Coral Island in co-op. Tomorrow I'll be playing Borderlands 4 in co-op.
This week I've been playing an adorable shop-sim-RPG from 2007 called Recettear - an Item Shop's Tale.

If you've ever played Moonlighter, then this is pretty similar. Go raid dungeons, pick up items, buy items for cheap and sell them for a high price. Capitalism Ho!
Ghost of Yotei and Silksong are both installed on my PS5 and they’re like my two childs. I can’t choose between the two of them.
after a couple fakes i think i’m at the last boss in donkey kong banaza, so that on the switch U2. on the 5pro i’ll be playing hell is us and i’ll be playing rock band 4 on the old ps4 because of its easily accessible usb-a ports.
Hell let loose. Tomorrow to the pub to watch the Belgian hate game. Anderlecht-Standard
Have a great weekend.
About to have some time off from gaming to take the family camping but first I’ll finish up Hell is Us. I also hope to begin to wrap up Wuchang
I did manage to finish Death Stranding 2 and it’s easily top 3 games this year for me.
Moving forward I’ll either start Cronos or Silent Hill F or Shinobi. I’m really stuck between the two horror games as which to place first so any community input I would love to hear!
Yotei and Forza Horizon 5.
Ghost of Yotei and a little borderlands 4 on Pro.
Borderlands 4 for me.
Have a good one everyone
I'm in a bit of a funk with games, nothing is really catching my attention at the minute.
So will likely just been some Sonc Racing with the kid, get through the festival stuff etc.
Tempted to fire up another run of Civ 7 on PC to see what the new patch is like.
Have a good one all!
What I´ve been playing
Gears of War Reloaded – Me and the son only managed to play for 30 min this past week so still on act 5. I´m hoping that we can get some playtime later tonight and maybe finish it off 🙂
Sonic Racing Crossworlds - The whole family played some 4 player split screen, its a lot of fun. Pretty solid game
The Midnight Walk - Finished and platinumed. Really enjoyed this one, Good story with some great art design and soundtrack and playing it in VR made quite a big difference in immersion and being chased by monsters was pretty intense at times 🙂
Ghost of Yotei - rare day 1 for me but loved Tsushima so got this preordered after reading some positive reviews. A couple of hours in and this is pretty much exactly what I hoped for. It looks amazing and plays great, really polished from my experience, and a story of revenge is very fitting for the setting. This is going to be awesome 🙂
I’m playing Ghost of Yōtei. For the hours I’ve put in so far, what impresses me the most is how each thing you do feels personal, but purposeful. Similar to the first game, you’ll discover bamboo strikes, hot springs to reflect, endearing NPCs, side quests, and bounties—it all feels connected because everything in Japanese culture is intertwined with the human spirit. How Sucker Punch managed to capture that essence in video game form is nothing short of incredible.
In addition to how the game feels personal, Yotei also provides a great lesson in how we take for granted the little things in life that make this world churn. And despite its inherently violent nature narratively, it is a deeply calming game that teaches patience, humility, and compassion to people, animals, and the environment. It is a reminder to be content with the basic essentials to survive as a human being.
On the gameplay side of things, it’s more Tsushima, but with a larger variety of weapons and tools at your disposal. Every weapon feels unique in its structure and satisfying to master. There is a level of strategy involved when encountering foes with different weapons. You may be able to hack-n-slash enemies by brute force, mashing the same button relentlessly, but it’s not an optimal experience. You’re encouraged to spice things up in the fly. It’s a system that offers a lot of depth, although stealth almost seems like a tacked on mechanic similar to its predecessor.
As for exploration, I think this may be Sucker Punch’s finest work to date. It flawlessly manages to be an open world that feels alive, and full of organic encounters. It reminds me a lot of Red Dead Redemption 2; one moment you’re cooking food by the campfire, the next there may be a wanderer stopping to rest, sharing their story that could lead to new clues for something to explore. This culminates into an open world where side activities feel as interval as its main narrative because you are rewarding with beneficial upgrades. It’s a very fun gameplay loop that is consistently compelling.
All of this would be meaningless if the story wasn’t engaging; thankfully, that’s not the case. While it may feature your typical (revenge) tropes, they are handled with precision and care. I love how the narrative is drip fed through flashbacks and current time simultaneously, and you piece the past together bit by bit as you traverse the world. What may feel like riding to point A-to-B may turn into an introspection on why and how you are where you are. Again, it harkens back to that organic nature of discovery.
I’ve yet to touch on other points that make Yotei standout, particularly with its cinematic fight scenes, the music that encapsulates your every moment, customization to fit your play-style, and graphics that are some of the very best I’ve seen. There is such a wide array of positives that wash out the negatives. I really can’t get enough of this game, and funnily enough it has given me an unexpected sense of purpose, like a ghost in the dark.
Yakuza: Like a dragon
I'm having difficulties finding time to play so I'll slowly explore Kamurocho whenever I manage.
Playing some more shade tree mechanic today - my pickup is in dire need of new spark plugs, so I'm going to finally knock that out (Nissan doesn't make it easy unfortunately). My truck turned 10 years old last month. It's basic as heck, but I do love it.
Gaming is going to be a return to Ivalice. I have noticed a few things about Ivalice Chronicles that I don't particularly care for over the original. I don't like how they implemented the steeper difficulty for starters. The new Formation screen UI feels like change for the sake of change - still getting used to it. I love the voice acting - it's very well-done. I'll play a few battles to grind Thief JP for the whole crew so we can start getting into those jobs that require Level 4/5.
Have a great weekend, everybody.
Playing waiting in geneve airport waiting for delayed flight, then probably a game of is my train cancelled from manchester 🙄🙄. Been up since 6am and looking like wont be home just b4 11pm if nothing goes.
Edit:
Well made it home just after 1am. So currently downloading ghost of yoti so will chill today and play that.
Amongst doing some tidying etc I plan on playing Clair Obscur Expedition 3, Hades, Cult of the Lamb, MGS Delta Snake Eater, AC2.
Start going through FF Tactics and Digimon Story Time Stranger
Still so highly addicted to Sonic Racing Crossworlds. It's my go to multiplayer game except instead of playing for an hour or so I end up playing it more than my single player game. Which for now is gonna be Tales of Graces f, I finally picked up. Very excited to play a Tales of game again
Should be wrapping up the platinum for Silent Hill 2 Remake, and then onto Bloodborne.
I am playing Ghost of Yotei. I had a rare day off from work that happened to fall on release day, so I have put a good chunk of time in.
Simply put: the game is fantastic. Sucker Punch nailed it. The fun Ghost formula, improved and refined in all the right ways.
I am going to make breakfast and go play some more!
Well I was going to save Ghost of Yotei for Christmas Day, but when it arrived on Thursday I couldn't help myself. So, Ghost of Yotei.
I shall be finishing off Deadzone Rogue this weekend before then commencing play on Ghost of Yotei next week. Really loving Deadzone, and cannot wait to jump into Ghost. It'll be epic...!
@TheArt you have good taste in women ! 🤣🤣
Ghost of Yotei. It's okay, I guess. Far too much exposition, flashbacks, unskippable cutscenes.
If I wanted to watch a samurai film, I'd put on Yojimbo. Might just go play Sekiro (again) for some sword fighting kicks.
It seems PushSquare has a pretty impressive adoption rate of Ghost of Yotei. I knew it would be good, but I've allowed myself to wait a little with picking it up. The backlog and Premium subscription are prioritized and the game will only get better as the patches drop and the price dips down.
So, I am continuing with Horizon Forbidden West which I bought at launch but never got far into it. It is with this realization that I battle the fomo of GoY.
I like to have games from Sony 'waiting for me' so I never feel a drought like so many of the most vocal complainers (who probably is full of s@#$ half the time).
I'm going through The Last of Us Part II for the first time, since it's on PS+. Even though I know all of the main...controversies, it's still fun to see them develop and the side beats that I don't know.
I'll be playing Ghost of Yotei while listening to AFI's new album. Turns out this game pairs really well with atmospheric goth rock.
Playing Black Ops 7 Beta on PS5.
Gave up on Silent Hill f as I can't get past the foggy cornfield.
My weapons break and I get my butt kicked.
I caved and bought Ghost of Yōtei, I’m absolutely loving it, so far. While it’s “more Ghost of Tsushima,” I feel like it’s a step forward in every way, from what I’ve played.
@MrPeanutbutterz Your sake flask is clearly half-empty.
Ghost of Yotei
I'm 13hrs into Ghost of Yotei and it's incredible! It's so engaging I haven't even started Digimon Story Time Stranger yet which is already installed on my PS5. These are good times indeed!
Game on PushSquare faithful!
@Marquez Not really. I'm in games for the gameplay, not GCSE-level exposition
All of this Yotei talk sure is tempting (I’m glad to hear mostly everyone seems to be enjoying it) but I’ve committed to wrapping up some of my backlog before diving in so I’m continuing on with Silent Hill f and Hollow Knight: Silksong. One I have to finish a few times and one I might not be able to finish at all 😅 Cronos is on deck next! Happy gaming!
I have the whole of next week off, so I will spend it getting lost in Ghost of Yotei! I'm around 11 hours in now, and it is absolutely phenomenal; I may actually prefer it over Tsushima! Everything is just better and very refined!
@MrPeanutbutterz That’s not what I’m getting, 20 hours in. Give it a chance. Also, the combat in particular is superb so if you’re in it for the gameplay…
Castlevania: order of ecclesia, darkstalkers 2 and the og resident evil
I picked up the black Ghost of Yotei PS5. It's my first Playstation console in 15 years. I've mostly been playing Yotei, but I also picked up the Nathan Drake trilogy to go back to some old favorites.
Hooked on Hades, can get all the way to Hades pretty consistently but he kicks my arse every time.
@KingPev You got that right. 😁😁
DYING LIGHT: The Beast for me this weekend. I have to say this is probably the best and most refined version of Dying Light that Techland has ever done. REALLY solid game!
Last two weeks I´ve been playing God of War 2018 to get remaining trophies and happy that I got platinum trophy few days ago. I hate those with lot of collectibles, but thanks to youtube it´s doable. I definitely will not become trophy hunter but really proud I have for GoW and Bloodborne - my favorite ps4 games.
So now I´ll be playing Mafia Old Country...very tempted to buy Ghost of Yotei, but I guess I´ll keep that one for x-mas holidays.
Have a nice weekend and happy gaming, everyone!
So far I’ve been playing a lot of Ghost of Yotei (on hard which means my character has died more times than I care to remember particularly in the duels) and a little bit of Frostpunk 2, GT7, Helldivers 2 and the VF5 open beta.
@MrPeanutbutterz Bruh the game play is extremely good.
@Oram77 I agree, there's just an awful lot of unnecessary fluff in between.
@Zuljaras wow! Faxanadu! I was just telling my wife about how much i love that game! Haven’t played it in 30 years! Such a great game that’s way ahead of its time!
As for me. I’m still in the throes of Ghost of Tsushima. About 67% complete and trying to git’r done so I can move on to Yōtei. And of course, Elder Scrolls Online! ✌🏾
Started The Ivalice Chronicles and dang, the presentation is fantastic. I have the original, the PSP release, and the better-than-you're-likely-assuming mobile port and I've never seen this game look so slick. The pixel artwork is great but honestly, I keep staring at the textures on buildings and rocks! The devs took so much care to mimic that lo-fi PSX look but it's so clean. It would've been easy to "upgrade" them so much that they no longer blend with the 2D characters or even oddly upstage them, but the artists showed careful restraint and I love it.
The people who make great modern interpretations and remakes of older titles often say that they try to recreate not how the source material played, but how it made you feel when you played it. Similarly, this new version of FF Tactics doesn't look exactly like the original, but rather how I remember the original looking in my rapt, reverent mind. Very cool.
I just sold my Fire Emblem: Awakening copy and I think i'm gonna sell more of my physical games that i don't have time to finish it. Most of them are JRPG's like Trials of Mana remake, Secret of Mana remake, Octopath Traveler 2, .hack G.U Last Recode, etc. For now, I think i'm clocked out with JRPG's especially turn based and SRPG. Probably not gonna buy a JRPG at least for the next 3-5 years.
As for what i'm playing this weekend, maybe FF VIII remastered. I want to finish it but i have on and off relationship with this game. If i can't finish it until next sunday, i think i will moved on to other games in my backlog.
Have a good weekend everyone 🍻
@Odium same I was a hater of playing a chick but its not bothering me at all F*** it this game is well made fun I love how questing and traveling this open world is not a grind and enjoyable.
@skkidssse my coworker wasn’t thrilled about playing as a woman either, but that’s because he was upset that he wasn’t playing as Jin again. I was actually intrigued by the fact that it wasn’t a direct sequel.
I agree, the exploration is great in this game. I love open world games that don’t distract me too much, but also don’t make me feel like I’m missing out if I don’t thoroughly explore enough. It’s a tough balance but they nailed it. The combat is absolutely phenomenal in this one.
@AhmadSumadi they don't make such hidden gems anymore
Sonic Racing for me! So much fun
Damn, the top 20 graphics video and survey has pushed me towards, not one, but two of the gems of this generation: Rachet and Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon Forbidden West. Both available via PS Plus, but I bought HFW at launch.
The quality of visuals are just insane. The PC missionaries on here don't have a clue how easy and great it has become on console.
Going through the whirl of worlds early on in Rift Apart is generational sensational!
Ghost of Yōtei. Amazing game.🙂
Ghost of Yotei PS5 Pro in Ray tracing Pro mode and Castlevania Lord of the Shadows on PS3!
I started to play Yotei yesterday, it's great so far. I bought a pro finally so I am able to play it on Pro mode.
Oh boy... just amazing and beautiful, easily the best looking game for me on PS5 ( haven't played Death Stranding 2 yet). I feel like a kid in the candy shop, trying all Pro enhanced game out:) In the other hand, I played Cronos a bit, and that looked really bad. Everything looks grey and washed out sadly. Is it a Pro thing or it does look the same on base ps5 as well? HDR is switched off, but nothing changed. Anyone else had the same experience?
@Dalamar my wife plays this if the kids allow the TV free for me to play ghost of Yotei.
I've been playing it too but I beat the main game on switch one so only dipping in and out. It's a superb game. Hope they make a proper sequel as they nailed Kirby in 3D first time
@Zuljaras I believe I’ve played a few recently. Flintlock is a great one. So is Inoria. But I think something that’s had a real negative effect on gaming is the rating/review system. Now people wait to see what the “pros” have to say before they try a game.
Remember, Faxanadu didn’t have some reviewer telling you to not play it. You tried it and loved it. That’s how we did it back then. Now, people will anticipate a game, then when it gets a 7/10 they don’t wanna play it anymore. That sucks!
@EfYI Forbidden West and Ratchet are both great games! Games like those are what keeps me on PlayStation. I put so much time into them and completed all there is to complete. Enjoy!
Ghost of Yotei. Simply an amazing game. The combat is so fun and fluid and Atsu is a great protagonist.
B4 Still, great game, taking it slow, level 47 with 23% of the story to go, no boosting lol.
@rusty82 I never liked Kirby much, but got forgotten land because I love 3d platformers and those are a dying breed. I was surprised how good it was, hope they won't return to 2d in future installments.
@Dalamar yeah me too.
I've tried a few 2D Kirby games and they are not a patch on forgotten lands.
Love 3D platform games, been obsessed with since 97 when I first played mario 64.
Ghost of Yotei, with some Balatro mixed in. Yotei is just different enough to keep it fresh, while retaining what made Tsushima so compelling. My backlog should have prevented me from buying anything new, but I couldn't pass on this. I have hundreds of hours of games unplanned, so nothing new until I thin out what I already have.
@Odium you are correct bud!
