Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS1 at Launch?

Steeleye50

DIdn't buy it at launch. Played Medievil on it around launch at a friend's house and wasn't impressed. But about 2 months later, I was at another friend's who showed me Metal Gear Solid. The next day, during my lunch break I went and purchased one with MGS and Silent Hill (it had a cool cover). Went home and hooked it up as I lived close to work. When I was supposed to leave to go back to work, I called them and told them my car wouldn't start and had to take it to the shop. I then had the best gaming day of my life.

Re: Cronos: The New Dawn, Hell Is Us Compete with Popular Favourites in UK Physical Charts

Steeleye50

I have so many new games right now but Hell is Us is really fantastic. I love the way the story is unfolding and it really is the first game in a long time where I feel like I'm really exploring. So many other games claim this but literally direct you everywhere you need to go. There are so many secrets and the story is actually really thought provoking and relevant to so many things happening in the world today. I am completely loving it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 597

Steeleye50

Hell is Us is the main priority. It's so nice not being completely led and looking for all the secrets. Also, going to try and finally beat the Batman arcade driving game on the home arcade. I finally got a small numeric keyboard to attach to it for scenes where you have to input a code. Happy gaming everyone!

Re: 'Things Are Progressing Really Smoothly': Nomura Shares Rare Update on Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Kingdom Hearts 4

Steeleye50

Kingdom Hearts 4, with a drunk and stoned Sora who will travel to space to meet Rey, who will be single handedly saving the galaxy by forcing all the planets into alignment and taking out all the heartless with her Jesus powers. Sora will then run off to the bar since he's not needed anymore, where he'll probably wind up in jail again. Then Rey will force sober him. The end.

Re: MindsEye Flopped So Badly That Its Publisher Is Questioning If It Should Publish Games Ever Again

Steeleye50

@rjejr I'm 51, have been a hardcore gamer since Space Invaders came out, and I play games now more than ever. My biggest issue now is I want to play everything (well, at least the games that are carbon copies of each other every year, such as Ubisoft, EA, etc). There are a lot of cash grab sinkers like Mindseye, but we've also had some really brilliant games lately. With so many outlets such as Twitch or Youtube now, it's easier than ever to weed out the stinkers. My kids also are both console gamers as well.

Re: Could You Be Persuaded to Watch a Call of Duty Movie?

Steeleye50

I'm not sure why, but even though I'm a huge gamer I really don't have any interest in video game movies. I've watched a few of them, and they were mediocre at best. I have zero interest in this, especially knowing they will probably cast Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill as Beavis and Butthead.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 596

Steeleye50

Started playing Lost Soul Aside. The combat is enjoyable and the horrible voice acting is a plus for me, as it often leads to unintentional hilarity. Also started Fear Effect again, this will be my 3rd playthrough but the last one was decades ago. It's rough around the edges but was so far ahead of its time. Outside of that I'm about halfway through Echoes of the End, which is a lot better than most people said it was. Happy gaming everyone.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 595

Steeleye50

Took a break from Sea of Thieves for a few months so tried it again last night as a new season just started, and wow, was it lame and underwhelming. Guess it's time for another break. Gonna to keep plugging away at Wuchang and Echoes of the End, which is a lot better than people are making it out to be.

Re: Promising PS5 Console Exclusive Where Winds Meet Will Scratch Your Wuxia Itch from 14th November

Steeleye50

@ErrantRob The developers stated that all the microtransactions would be cosmetic only. I only played it for about 8 hours, but it's one of the few games where I was not advancing the story, but rather just exploring. I could see it getting tedious at some point, as most 150 hour games do, but I was enthralled the whole time. There were tons of side quests and little mini games, as well as some weird unique situations. At one point, I got human trafficked, wound up in hell at another, and one of the only times I died during combat was being killed by a goose. You can also use a goose as your mount. It's a crazy game and I loved every second of it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 594

Steeleye50

Picked up Steel Seed on the PS5 sale. Decent game, nothing earth shattering but pretty solid. Still working through Wuchang. Was stuck on the Commander but somehow I beat her drunk the other night. Also just beat the Hell is Us demo, I really enjoyed it. Will be playing on day 1. Happy gaming everyone.

Re: The Outrageously Over-the-Top Fast & Furious Arcade Game Is Coming to PS5

Steeleye50

I have an Arcade 1up Outrun machine, for which I bought a mod from a company called Buy Stuff Arcades. Both this and Cruisin Blast are on it, as well as over 200 other driving games such as Forza 5, Mario Kart arcade, Burnout 3, etc. I had never played Fast and the Furious in the arcade before, but it's a ton of fun, much better than I had anticipated.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 593

Steeleye50

@armad11 I do have one, and sadly, you do have to connect. You can download games to play if you have the top tier PS Plus subscription, but you still have to sign in and use the PS5 to connect. My other issue is, it rarely plays well even though I have fast internet at my house (I work from home with only rare connectivity issues). It is constantly getting pixelated and disconnecting. I am not sure why I have those issues with the portal, because in my office I have an arcade machine with a PS4 connected to it. I can remotely play PS5 on that and rarely have issues. I have had no issues with the Lenovo so far, other than just having to tweak settings for certain games. Most everything on it plays perfectly though.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 593

Steeleye50

Since my kids are on 2 hour shifts with screen time, they've been alternating dominating the PS5 so I bought a Lenovo Legion Go last week. Still learning the ins and outs but it's an incredible device. Been playing South of Midnight since I couldn't play it before and am quite enjoying it. It's nothing earth shattering but it's unique and fun to play. Dove into Mafia a bit last night it feels more like an interactive movie than a game so far but I'm just scratching the surface. Other than that I'm slow at making progress in Wuchang, but I'm making progress. Really enjoying it as well but has some weird difficulty spikes. Happy gaming everyone.

Re: Preview: PowerWash Simulator 2 Is Bigger, Better, and as Satisfying as Ever

Steeleye50

This really is not my type of game and I dismissed it when it came out. But about a year ago I was reading an article about games that relive stress. I have a heart condition and am under a lot of stress at home so I decided to give it a try. It really does help! It's very relaxing and helps calm down anxiety I get sometimes. Will be purchasing this one.

Re: Hell Is Us Playable Demo Is Seemingly Imminent on PS5

Steeleye50

I am on the fence about the design philosophy of this game. I like the fact that they are going back to old school design of no maps and no hand holding. Hand holding has gotten completely ridiculous in a lot of modern games. However, the difference now is the games have become so massive and have so many areas that are off limits to explore initially due to overpowered enemies. There are some games that actually do a goop job of this (Rockstar games come to mind), but most where you relegated to a certain area because of difficulty. It will be interesting to see if they pull it off, but I will definitely dive into the demo to find out. Either way, it looks really interesting.

Re: Sony Will Fund the Next Wave of PS5 Hits from China

Steeleye50

This is great news. Since China opened the floodgates for the games to reach international markets they have been absolutely killing it. Wukong was a total masterpiece, currently lost in Wuchang Fallen Feathers, and have been seriously addicted to the beta for Where Winds Meet, which sadly ends today. My mind is completely blown that Where Winds Meet will be a free to play game, when it has the caliber of a AAA title and so far has been another masterpiece for me.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for August 2025 Announced

Steeleye50

Good God. So I bought Lies of P like a year ago, physically, on Amazon. Loved it. Was on NG+, about 2 chapters in when the DLC dropped. Had to get to the end of Chapter 9, which took a while. Then, no DLC. Looked online, followed instructions, nothing. Emailed Geowiz. No response. Did some online sluething, turns out the copy I had bought off Amazon was UK based and I am in America, so the DLC was not compatible. Debated, and decided since I loved the game so much I would buy it again digitally. Had to beat the game again to get to the DLC, and then on another NG + had to get to Chapter 9. So I bought the game 2 times, and now it's free 1 month later. Sigh. Just glad everyone can enjoy it now, expecially with the new difficulty options for players turned off by that. It's a brilliant game.

Re: Mini Review: Wuchang: Fallen Feathers (PS5) - Decent Souls-Like Suffers Technically

Steeleye50

I've been playing this the last few days on PS5 and I disagree. It feels like they played maybe 2-3 hours and just wrote the review based off that. Does it re-invent the wheel? No, but combat is tight and satisfying. The madness system adds a lot of extra depth to it. The landscapes are gorgeous and I haven't had any technical issues with it at all, maybe that is a PS5 pro thing (I know the PC version was pretty bad). I'm having a lot of fun with it, and would probably give it at least an 8 so far (still a ways to go though).

Re: Star Wars Outlaws Sequel Reportedly Cancelled, Will Stay in a Galaxy Far, Far Away

Steeleye50

The only joy I got from this game, aside from the Sabacc which I did enjoy, was laughing at all of the completely insane and hilarious glitches, from stormtroopers stuck in their speeder bikes on top of trees, AI that would look at piles of dead bodies I made say "there's a dead trooper here" then move on, to them constantly driving the bikes directly into huge boulders and exploding.
