Developer Game Science has just announced Black Myth: Zhong Kui, the follow-up to its breakout hit Black Myth: Wukong.
The announcement comes by way of a slick cinematic teaser trailer, which you can watch here:
Based on the Chinese folk legend of Zhong Kui, a figure able to walk the lands of the living and the dead.
It looks great, and we're super curious to see how Game Science improves upon Wukong, but we won't be seeing Zhong Kui for a good long while.
On the game's official website, the studio says the project is "little more than an empty folder at this stage". In other words, work has only just begun, and big budget game development takes many years these days.

Zhong Kui will be another single player action RPG in a similar vein to Wukong, and it'll release on PC and "all mainstream console platforms".
Presumably that includes PS5, but could we be talking about a potential PS6 game at this point? Probably?
Anyway, there we have it. Are you interested in Black Myth: Zhong Kui? Tell us in the comments section below.

After the sheer mess that is the PS5/Pro version of the first game i have no interest in supporting more from this studio unless they fix the console version.
They probably showed it way too early 👀
I thought Wukong would get a DLC first. Also this game won't release on PS5, trust me.
"...little more than an empty folder at this stage."
Then why the hell have you announced it??????
@wildcat_kickz The full quotation from the website also explains that Game Science have a habit of updating their projects on August 20 every year. For Black Myth: Wukong they used to post a new trailer on the day.
August 20th is Sun Wukong's birthday!
Im down for another black myth game. Wukong was sensational.
I look forward to this cause Wukong was fun, but seems kinda early to announce it if we're not getting it for such a long time.
I though it's black myth wukong dlc but it's a new game, nice. A bit early to announce it though.
Haha they’re repeating the feat 😳 I haven’t actually gotten the first yet so I’ll treat that as this announcement only in my own time. Should ease the wait
This and Onimusha, i wonder why they used British accents for English dubs.
I'm not familiar with Zhong Kui myth though so i don't know what to expect.
@PuppetMaster I wondered about that, Chinese people saying "codswallop" doesn't sound right lol.
@PuppetMaster as a non American I love it when dubs aren't the usual generic american voices.
@AdamNovice Lol it sounds weird for sure.
@JohntheRaptor I'm also non-American but i personally want to see English accents outside American and British. It's not like i dislike both accents but i'm pretty sure there are more than two accents.
@PuppetMaster I always tend to use the native language in games that are not western developed and I opt for subtitles too. I always find that Japanese games or Chinese games have some of the oddest phrasing when the English voice overs are used and generally just sound comical and over exaggerated. I do chuckle at the medieval games and witcher games that always have the characters speaking in northern English accents and I really laughed when the bloody baron in the witcher 3 had a brummie accent..we need more aussie voice actors and it would be great if the pikey community was represented in games..imagine the translation issues that would present 🤣
So the next Black Myth game will focus on the king of ghosts who can banish and command demons? Okay, I'm interested.
Shame it is so long away, only played Wukong this year and it was superb on the Pro!
That Tiger looked incredible, can't wait (but I'll have to).
Wukong was great so looking forward to this
Does sound a long way off unfortunately
I don't care if Game Science makes a game about paint drying, I will buy it. I'm a little familiar with Zhong Kui and this, like Wukong, should be nothing short of amazing.
@AdamNovice
Totally with all of you on the accent. More than the accent itself, it’s the whole dialect. Codswallop! It throws me off. Wish it were a more neutral standard English accent or just a Chinese accent. 🤷♂️
It's never a good choice to announce a game when all that exists is a good pitch and a CGI video. It will be 4 to 5 years before it releases.
Tried playing through the ps plus trial and didnt really like the opening and the controls of the character.
I think i used 15mins of the trial time and said nah looks cool, would be my type of game but the controls just didnt do it for me
