Metal Gear Solid Delta Sneaks Past the One Million Sales Milestone in First 24 Hours

I played this back when it came out first it was a good game but nothing amazing!
I'll always wonder why they never just properly remade metal gear solid??
They did twin snakes for the GameCube but that's it!!
If they modernized the gameplay and graphics that would be amazing it's the best metal gear by a country mile for me!!

@Ricky-Spanish The Hideo Kojima controversy was too strong to remake MGS.
The winds are slowly shifting imo.

@LifeGirl If they made a modern version of metal gear solid I would literally cry it was best game of that era for me the amount of crap that gets remade or remastered and one of the best video games of all time is just ignored!

@diegooliveirafhc Probably because it's not on any subscription service when a game is they can't really talk sold copies as it would be a smaller less impressive number than the number off who have played in total!!

Think you’ll find they remade MGS3 because it was easiest and the sanest choice. MGS5 is technically unfinished, MGS4 is stuck on PS3 hardware. MGS1 would require the full remake treatment not a simple remaster which is what has been done to MGS3 and acts as the first standalone game in the series from a lore perspective to a newcomer of the series.

good for konami, but i don’t think i’m up for purchasing mgs3 for the seventh time in my life right now.

Good for Konami. Now let's see if they can make a completely brand new MGS game that received and sold as good as the ones done by Kojima & his team.

See when a company has success they report the classic metric for how a game has done. Copies sold! I'll be curious to see how well this does over the next year as Metal Gear games have always been niche and not every console gamer has even heard of them in my experience.

@UK_ Afraid not, patiently waiting although it'll be probably be £20 by the time its fixed (or un fixed) so i'll get it then 😉

@Thelegend159 They could of used the twin snakes version from GameCube that used the same engine as the original version of snake eater??
I live in hope will still do it because it's in terms of story it's the best metal gear game!

I’m not surprised Snake Eater is one of the best MGS games and the remake is incredible.
I’m playing through it in the legacy style currently, will play through it in the new style at a later point as well

And this is why performance optimisations are very often an afterthought - the average consumer will still purchase a title, even if it performs like crap.

I’ll probably pick this up next year on sale and hopefully after some patches - my pc should be able to brute force 60fps, but it should be capable of so much more. I refuse to pay full price for something that’s shipped with barely any optimisation.

They tried doing a new MG game without Kojima before and it was shocking.
I don’t really have high hopes they can make MGS as good without Kojima but the Snake Eater Remake is great so maybe they should remake the other MGS first and see how they do for sales as well

Technically they co do Portable Ops before Peace Walker, all they’d need to do is give it better game mechanics and new gameplay, oh make obtaining soldiers as well

Also Konami have revealed performance improvements are coming and that the Pro will see Performance and Quality mode toggles.

@Ricky-Spanish Remaking it without Kojima would be a real challenge. Personally i would like to see Metal Gear remade and have it pay off MGSV but without Kojima it may not work.

@DennisReynolds The game is made they just need to update visuals and controls it would be different if they wanted to do a new game but they wouldn't really need him to do anything for a twin snakes remaster or remake.
He would probably want to change to much I just want to play that exact game but updated visuals and no fixed camera perspective ✌️

The remake is great, I finished it a few days ago, and it deserves the financial success.

I wonder what their expectations were though🤔, and how much they put into this coat of paint re, rerelease.

I say this because the one week later marketing for this game being blasted all over Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, etc is pretty insane. From my experience, this is often, But not always a sign of desperation where the game is not getting the initial sales they assumed. Whether justified or not.

SE is notorious for this.

The two PSP games would make sense linear storylines wise as they continue the big boss / MGS3 storyline and the gameplay is similar if not identical to MGS3.

Think I’ve debated with you before regarding if MGS5 is supposed to Kojimas meta for actual phantom pain.

@Dragoon1994 I reckon they could remake the PSP games as it’s still Kojima all the way through them gameplay and storyline wise, just need a graphic overall which this team have now proven they’re capable of

Here’s to hoping this sends a clear message to Konami: YES. GIVE 1 and 2 this treatment!!!

@Dan12836666 People are really overreacting to its technical state. Where was this passion for Elden Ring that released in a far worse state a state its still in.

Metal Gear 1 and 2 desperately need remakes but those would require quite a bit more effort.

@Whyarewestillhere Absolutely agree, if any game needs the full remake treatment it's the original msx metal gears.
To see these moments play out, fully realized has been a long time dream of mine, ever since playing those two games with mgs3 subsistence on the PS2.

@DennisReynolds not sure about that game I don't like souls like games so can't comment I do think metal gear solid 3 remake is a great game though with all it'd problems once that's sorted it will be perfect

@tameshiyaku They've developed Silent Hill F alongside the remake of 2 so there's hope that they'll do more than just remake the previous entries.

@Whyarewestillhere hope so, but if they're going fully chronological there'd still be portable ops (doubt they'll revisit that), peace walker and mgsV first. I think a remaster of mgsV would suffice, as long as they change that you could do multiple ops on the ground without always having to fly in and out. That's a lot of material before we get to the games that need to be retold..

I also think Konami would probably prioritise mgs1 for popularity sake.

@tameshiyaku If they ever do remake the prior entries it'd be cool if they did it like MGSV with the sand box style gameplay.

@Ricky-Spanish 3 is the earliest in the storyline, plus If Delta (and Silent Hill 2) is any indication, the other MGS games will likely eventually get remakes too,especially with sales numbers like these.

@Dan12836666 i don't understand one post you call it a mess then you call it great, i already played and finished it and am on ng+ there is a few spots that aren't the smoothest but its far from being unplayable. its one of those things where if they ironed out those issues it would go from a 8.5/9 to a 9.5

Man, what I wouldn't give for a modern day Metal Gear game with a version of Snake doing missions under the Trump Presidency. The only way it could end would be Snake sneaking into the Oval, and then shooting the commander in chief in the balls while he's choking on McDonalds. Epic.
