It sounds like Oblivion Remastered still has a ways to go before it is running in tip-top shape on PS5, as Digital Foundry reports the RPG continues to face severe problems despite a recent patch.

Released just under two weeks ago, update 1.2 was designed to address a number of performance problems, UI issues, and various crashes. You can read the full patch notes list through the link.

However, according to Digital Foundry, technical problems still remain.

Testing from the outlet reveals it's still "a fairly poor state of affairs" for the console versions. The patch notes stated performance had been improved in locations like Deepscorn Hollow, Black Rock Caverns, and between Skingrad and Skingrad Castle, so Digital Foundry visited the places, comparing the frame rate to its previous findings.

They said that "effectively all of the core issues we identified in our original coverage remain on consoles, including major performance drops, crashes and degraded performance over time". The memory leak crash relating to game saves still appears to be present, and so too does the issue that the game runs worse the longer you play.

"Overall then, it's a huge disappointment for Oblivion fans on consoles, and perhaps suggests that at least some of the game's underlying issues are systemic in nature if they haven't yet been fixed after months of patching efforts," the outlet concluded. "This just isn't the triumphant celebration of a Bethesda classic that we'd hoped for, and the many months of waiting for a patch hasn't resulted in a radical turnaround to its fortunes."
