The demands for fewer Souls-likes in the gaming release calendar make quite a lot of sense when they're as formulaic and familiar as Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.
From developer Leenzee, the debut effort is a mostly competent attempt at a Dark Souls experience, but it doesn't do nearly enough to stand out from its many, many peers. Besides its Chinese aesthetics and setting, you could imagine the game in your sleep and you’d be most of the way there — it’s just that derivative.
Mazy level design guides you through jungles and temples, battling increasingly difficult enemies and bosses, all while upgrading your own stats, gear, and weapons. There’s a surprising amount of NPCs to talk to offering quests, and a compass provides better guidance than what’s typical of the genre, but by and large, you’ve seen it all multiple times over already.
The twist is, though, that while Wuchang: Fallen Feathers feels overly familiar, the Souls-like trappings it subscribes to almost always produce a decent experience. It’s no different here, as a combat system based on dodging makes fights fast and engaging. Then, with a unique Madness mechanic, you can transform your customisable protagonist to unlock new abilities and increase your damage. It’s neat, and one of the few things the title has going for it when compared to any other Souls-like.
Again, it’s an entirely adequate experience that proves fun enough in the moment but not particularly memorable a few days removed from a playthrough.
It’s the technical performance that lets Wuchang: Fallen Feathers down the most, however, at least at launch. You can pick between Quality, Balanced, and Performance modes on PS5 Pro, but on top of them, you can unlock the frame rate, turn motion blur on and off, and adjust the depth of field between low, medium, and high.
A PC-lite offering on paper, in practice, it actually gives you the rather unique opportunity to choose what technical flaw the game will suffer from. In testing, we struggled to find an acceptable combination of settings, with some introducing absurd screen tearing, incredibly blurry graphics, and low-quality environments.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is enjoyable enough without its performance troubles, but with them, they’re a major drag on the overall game. Wait for them to be ironed out in post-launch patches and you’ll find a decent, if formulaic experience.

Oh boy “serviceable” under pros is not a great sell lol this one looked pretty generic from the first trailer
Classic, middling day 1 gamepass game by the sounds of it. Ps+ offering in 12 months once the gamepass deal expires.
I dont get how some games get a pass for basically being like other things but then others it's like "this game doesn't do anything new". I mean if I can be honest, neither did Lies of P. Some people really are looking for another-one-of-those.
I'm really excited for it, it looks like a fun Soulslike. I'm a sucker for soulslikes lol
Getting VERY tired with the amount of generic soulslikes being forced out into the wild these days, unless you have something truly special to offer like Lies of P did, I’d much rather developers make something unique and valuable instead of chasing trends to release games that are given praise for being “serviceable”, I’m sure that’s why they decided to make games years ago.
It’s okay to chase trends if you innovate on said trends, if you’re just going to produce something by the numbers, don’t expect most people to dish out their wallets as a response.
In before the "but it got good reviews everywhere else!" comments.
Sure guys. Tell me all about it.
Once again pushsquare pretty far off the consensus and I also don’t like how they couldn’t even do a proper length review and just threw together this mini review. If I didn’t love this site for other reasons I would never visit this site just for reviews because they are on the lower end of opinions I seek
@DonJorginho my dude this has a 75 MC/77 OC so what are you even talking about
The performance issues and overall lack of polish are a bummer. I was hoping to play this at launch.
Guess i will wait for a couple of post launch fixes..
@dark_knightmare2
Slant Magazine: 5/10
TheSixthAxis: 4/10
Radio Times: 4/10
Overall score in OpenCritic based on 52 reviews is 77. It's not as bad as trolls in comment section trying to make it.
@Flora2122
People in here are already trying to engage in the bad faith argument that PushSquare are giving lower reviews than anybody else.
Then these people have been shown proof that other places gave an even lower score than the 6 PushSquare did, this isn’t to troll the game or even diminish its value, it’s simply to disassemble the narrative being made in no good faith against a site simply because people are unhappy the game they looked forward to got a middling score, I’ve been guilty of this behaviour when I was younger, luckily I’ve grown up to realise the MC/OC should never indicate whether you enjoy a game or not as art is subjective.
Stop using buzzwords like “trolls” to muddy the waters between actual conversations and bad faith drive by postings.
@dark_knightmare2 You don't need to take PushSquare review as the end of all end. If you disagreed with their scores and think this game is really good then go play and enjoyed it.
And yet when FromSoft release a new game thats pretty much exactly the same (ok, Sekiro has the samurai setting, and Bloodborne has the Gothic, so fair enough at least they stand out) everyone's lining up to kiss their backside; but it's FromSoft, so they get a free pass?? 🤔
People complaing about push square score but it's one person opinion and they can have that opinion doesn't mean they are sellouts ect
launch games are never in there best state so as we all know technically over time this will improve
@IronCrow86 They made the best Souls games. Dunno what is your problem with that. 😅
Outside of the performance on ps5 pro (which wasn't out at the time) I'd apply every pro and con in this list to stellar blade on release imo and it got an 8 iirc on pushsquare. (Yes I've played stellar blade for a solid length but couldn't finish it for a variety of reasons not meshing with my game preferences)
@DonJorginho cool so a few others lowballed it congrats on bringing the receipts still doesn’t change the fact it’s averaging a 77 on OC with over 50 reviews so it makes Pushsquare along with the three you linked the outliers
People still confused about review scores and people having different opinions in 2025 🤪
I'm still looking forward to giving this a go myself
@IronCrow86 What an ignorant comment from someone who clearly hasn't played Sekiro or Bloodborne. Sekiro is innovates with the player needing to deflect and parry in order to damage an enemy's posture and has more verticality in movement. Bloodborne removes defensive options such as shields in favor of aggression with its rally mechanic by having you attack in order to gain back your health. It also has trick weapons and that transform into a different weapon. To say Fromsoft hasn't innovated is a blatant lie.
@Kierant202 Yeah, i liked SB but that game didn't reinvent the wheel either and did borrow stuff from Soulslikes and many action games. Has just serviceable combat.
What bizarre review .
Someone else already said it here in the comment section but how is it that some games that basically identically mimic other games, get in depth, specific, and often praiseworthy reviews.......yet other games in specific genres just seem to be treated like some second rate b tier fair even if they do basically the same thing that they're inspired from And do a decent job at it.
You couple that with here getting a a clear and significant downgrade in overall review Impressions based on its technical State and yet other games get a complete pass on that s***. Basically if you're not a first-party studio, major AAA outfit, indie darling going viral, or fromsoft you just get absolutely slandered by some of these Outlets...
This didn't even get full review treatment...
People losing their ***** making it out like it was given a 3/10.
It’s a little bit under the average.
And it’s about time websites started pulling more at day 1 performance. Because it’s often ridiculous day 1 is most expensive and worst performance. I hope PS keep pushing on technical issues whether it be 1st party or indie.
6/7/8 out of 10 I’ll still give it a try after a couple of patches on GP.
People give these outlets and even streamers too much power. If you like how the game looks and it appeals to you play it. Letting others choose what you play is bonkers.
The same people here moaning about Push Square for docking points due to poor performance are the same people who would denounce Push Square as a corrupt entity if they didn’t include performance notes in reviews and didn’t dock a game for it, leading to people buying it and being surprised by their new purchase running awfully.
You really just can’t win when a commenter has nothing better to do than moan and whine.
@ILuvGames No you don’t get it, why should I spend time playing the game I’m supposedly excited for and that I’m commenting about rooting for against “corrupt reviews” when I could just start online quarrels instead and moan about the game I love but am not playing instead.
@Kierant202 Not a great comparison, considering SB is not a soulslike. Its a action-adventure/hack n slash. I would know, I hate souls games (yes, I just suck at them and don't have the patience).
Also SB was one of the best performing games on release and it only got better. Wuchang had a very questionable preview/pre-release marketing push, like they were trying to hide a flawed games, whereas SB was looking more and more promising with every showing.

@DonJorginho to be fair I am playing Donkey Kong right now so it’s not like they couldn’t be playing a game and commenting at the same time.
@ILuvGames
They’d have to be a gaming god to be actually playing a souls like and commenting at the same time, unless they’re commenting between deaths, which would be very telling 😉
@IronCrow86 You clearly never played Sekiro and Bloodborne if the only thing you mention from them is "different setting".
@KundaliniRising333 "Basically if you're not a first-party studio, major AAA outfit, indie darling going viral, or fromsoft you just get absolutely slandered by some of these Outlets"
Don't know about other outlets but these are PushSquare review scores for some of Sony 1st party and major AAA games by 3rd party:
I disagreed with some PushSquare scores but i think they're pretty fair with their reviews. But like i said to dark knightmare, you shouldn't take these reviews as the end of all end nor stop you to play the games. If you think Wu Chang worth the shot then go played it.
I was torn as whether to get this or lies of p + dlc as they are a similar price. Having read a few reviews it does sound as if this suffers from a few performance/balancing issues.
Still want to give this a whirl at some point but I'm happy to wait for fixes or a sale.
@KundaliniRising333 agree with you mostly. Khazan the first berzerker was awarded a 6/10 and I'm still playing that game loads in between hosting rally championships on EA wrc. The review for that was way,way off the mark and I still think the person who reviewed it didn't play it enough because the game was not how they described it. This will probably be a great game for me and I'll be picking it up soon. I understand this review is based upon liams opinion and I guess we have to respect that but I'll take everything he's said here with a very big handful of salt and make my own mind up. If I'd listened to him when he awarded a necromunga title a 4/10 I'd have missed out on a great little Duke nuke 'em style shooter. Like I always say I listen to the community on PS more than the editors and reviewers.
If you like above average generic Soulslikes then boy is China going to have you covered for the next 20 years.
@Northern_munkey the first berserker review here was absolutely criminal, I think who ever reviewed it played maybe couple of hours and/or sucked at playing it, because its a fantastic game, and just to add " pushSqaure" gave it one of the lowest reviews, well.its true have a look at the round ups l, theres 7, 8s and even a 9 for this game, so ill reserve judgement and play this for myself
I've read this review, middling 6, and watched one review on Youtube that sung the games praises highly (though that was on PC) so I'll keep an eye on it but I need to see more gameplay before I decide to buy.
Don't think I will bother then ....got enough on my plate
@Uromastryx I think that when games such as this are reviewed the reviewer should state exactly how long they played for and show a completion level. I'd be more inclined to put more faith in the review if that kind of information was provided. A screen grab of trophy completion percentage would do nicely.
I am a bit burnt out on souls likes after Black Myth, loved every minute but I have had my fill for a good few months. I would agree with others, I am surprised this game only gets a mini review thought it was a pretty significant release even if it is into a currently saturated market!
As usual people are completely missing the point of reviews. You should choose which ones to listen to basis reviewers that you know from past experience tend to align with your own views. Personally I like @LiamCroft as he doesn't tend to give games free passes like some others (particularly on fansites) tend to. Also if you are only looking at the score and not actually reading the thing then you don't get the right to criticise.
In this case I would have thought the conclusion you should draw is pretty obvious. If you love Soulslikes and can't get enough (a bit like me with Metroidvanias, of which there are also far too many) then you should give this a go, you will probably enjoy it. If not then you are best off giving it a pass as there isn't anything special to make it worth your time. Unfortunately this take is probably too nuanced for most, who would prefer instead to respond "6/10 means bad, grumble grumble".
@TheEnygma Right? Lies of P was one of the most generic games I've ever played. And the clock tower ascent was one of the poorest designed stages I've played in the last decade or so.
Yet I keep reading about how it's as good as Bloodborne...
I think it's unfair to mark it down for performance issues when a lot of AAA titles aren't patched on that front. The best example being DS2 still sending fans into take-off mode...
@Ooccoo_Jr "Unfortunately this take is probably too nuanced for most." I didn't find anything nuanced in your comment. I get your take and understand, but you are missing the point entirely as to why myself and a few others are criticising the overall review and not just the score.
@Northern_munkey or even just a screen of " finished the story" trophy but yeah just something, I've pre order anyway, I got it at discount, was fairly cheap to begin with so ill have hands on tomorrow
That's not even a mini-review, it's non-review. What about combat mechanics, skill tree, spells, customisation? What about the story? This article has as much value as a tweet saying "I didn't like it".
@Uromastryx awesome. After you've had chance to get to grips with it please let me know how you find it and if its a comparable experience to wukong and khazan. Enjoy.
@Frmknst another none comment. At least you are consistent.
U people really fighting over review scores people it just someone dam opinion if u like the game buy or not most of u need do some thinking for yourself once in life stop relying on someone else's opinion when half u say game reviews are pay for lol
Good, I don’t need another soulsclone gathering digidust
Reviewer: game not great
Comment section: mentally challenged screaming
Not sure why some of you are taking this so seriously.... like brothers you are acting like a 6/10 is a terrible score when it clearly states "Not bad" and from looking at other outlets, 7/10 is the most common score. Here is a good way to look at things
You like the game = play the game
If you don't like the game = pass on it then
I'm surprised to hear about the performance when I've seen reports stating:
"Performance mode 80-100fps (lock fps off)
Balanced mode 60-90fps (lock fps off)
Quality mode 60-70fps (lock fps off)"
So all above the minimum Hz VRR Range (+48fps)
On PC also seems to be running quite well.
Regarding the review, while I agree with some comments here, remember that reviews are just personal opinions. I personally don't give a damn about the reviews, only thing I care to know about a review is how the game is technically, in terms of performance, bugs, and support features / optimize settings (PC)
For me review scores in general are also joke, trying to determine where a game stands on a scale of 1 to 10 makes no sense and invites unfair and often non sense comparisons.
For me is enough to watch gameplay (non commentary) and form my own opinion like a grown up man!
No you WILL rate this higher or I'll cry
The game is not a 6 it’s at least an 8
“It’s the technical performance that lets Wuchang: Fallen Feathers down the most, however, at least at launch. You can pick between Quality, Balanced, and Performance modes on PS5 Pro, but on top of them, you can unlock the frame rate, turn motion blur on and off, and adjust the depth of field between low, medium, and high.”
What are the technical performance issues? What settings did you find to be the best? I tend to set things to favour frame rate, so if performance mode is pretty stable I’m sure, on that front, I’ll be happy.
@Icey664 Stellar Blade is very blatantly a souls-like. Not sure why people like you seem to hate that a game they like falls under this genre. I'd say it's probably the best non-Fromsoft Soulslike ever made (at least top 3, up there with Lies of P and Stranger of Paradise).
It has the 'bonfires' (camps) that respawn enemies when you rest at them. That's the main aspect of a soulslike if you ask me. Combat is irrelevant.
I don't really trust Pushsquare on reviewing since they gave Khazan a 6, which is one of my favorite souls game out there. Honestly I don't really care outlet reviews anymore in general, they have far too much power on gaming industry these days. People trust them blindly. I'm more inclined to listen what actual players saying. I definitely give this one a go.
Good on PS / Liam here.
A 6 is defined as a flawed game / obvious shortcomings.
The review clearly describes performance issues as a major shortcoming, so based on this a 6 sounds appropriate.
Too many games these days launch in a poor technical state with a "launch broken, maybe fix later" mentality/behaviour - and sometimes they just are not fixed.
Defending this sort of behaviour, or the media NOT calling it out by lowering scores, will both just reaffirm to developers that the behaviour is acceptable, and technical quality will just get worse.
I hope this review is a trend we see much more of - maybe PS can 'patch' their review when the devs 'patch' their game and it is fixed.
@Llamageddon
Lies of P is one of my favourite games this generation, and the recent DLC only adds to this as it includes some really cool lore, weapons (I really liked the Bow and Claws), and locations.
(Though I would wait to start the dlc until as late as possible, and then play everything again in NG+ using the new weapons).
I really like Soulslikes in general and would rate Lies of P right up there with any of Fromsofts finest.
They have even added a couple of easier difficulty settings if that appeals to you.
One word of warning - the upgrade material to take 'Special' weapons to +4 and +5 (Max) is incredibly rare and cannot be farmed. Total of 14 in NG including DLC, and you need 3 per weapon. (NG+ Cycles have 15 total)
@Northern_munkey
I fully support reviews lowering scores for performance issues, and if its as bad as Liam describes here, thats a 6 or lower in my book.
However, their FB Khazan review was just odd. The review based the 6 in that case on mechanics / combat, and FBK was really very tight indeed in that regard.
Khazan is right up there with the best in terms of its combat and even if it is very limited in its weapon types, they are all very different (I played spears).
I tried the demo and have now played 2 complete (100%) runs and was very happy with the game.
@Rich33 I really appreciate the information, I'll be downloading it tonight.
@Rich33 indeed khazan is right up with the best souls games. Lies of p is also a superb game and I recommend it to anybody who likes this genre.
@Rich33 oh I forgot to give lords of the fallen a mention too..another criminally overlooked game.
I'm tired of "Soulslike"!! Hard pass!
A 6/10 is considered “Not bad” on this website, and that sounds like a reasonable score. The game is still solid and will only get better with future patches. Other sites have given it an 9/10 and 8/10, while others were split down the middle. I, for one, am excited to play this. Some of my favorite games ended up getting average review scores. And to reiterate, this review is saying the game is “not bad”. That sounds fine to me.
With all of that said, I don’t think this was a well-written review. I’m not criticizing the score, but the clear fatigue of the genre from the reviewer is evident, and I think it played a factor in his overall thoughts. It seemed hastily written and not well thought out. Where is the deeper discussion on the combat mechanics, the two weapons gimmick, the boss fights, rewards, the level design and possible secrets, and more in depth analysis of the gear, armor, and customization? It felt like most of this was overlooked and only got a single sentence, but didn’t explain how these things actually impacted the game.
I'm still going to get the game but it's disappointing to read about the performance issues. Although, the base PS5 hardware is almost five years old so I expect this to become a bigger and bigger problem, especially as more devs shift focus to optimizing for PS5 Pro while simply putting out a vanilla PS5 version because it's required.
@Northern_munkey
Lies of P is still my favourite Soulslike this generation (yes, I prefer it to Elden Ring), particularly given the addition of the excellent DLC, but I did think FBK was very much overlooked - and thats a massive shame. I hope they still do DLC / a sequel as I really think it has massive potential to grow.
@dark_knightmare2 If you don't listen to reviews, why do you read them, check sites for them, or argue their merit?
If you don't give a F about people's opinions, which is all a review is, then none of this should matter and you should realize other people don't care about yours. STFU and just play games.
What a palavar you lot are in. Shame you don't have an Xbox then you could try it for practically free instead of getting your knickers in a twist over a review. I forgot though, no point having an Xbox right.....looking forward to it myself when I get round to it.
@Rich33 for sure they should be called out no doubt, but the performance issues described as a major flaws here aren't actually that bad, I mean here they gave that junk heap dragons dogma 2 9/10 and that was a mess at release, same for monster hunter also a mess, still is in some parts...but oh yeah 9/10, also it doesn't even talk about the magic in game, which is like 40% of the games combat, says the game combat based on dodging...ehh what about the separate mechanic for each of the 5 weapons parry ability? I'm all for calling out lazy devs and bad released games, but this is a bad review simply put, reviews do help people form an opinion that's why there here, but this is a bad starting point
@Frmknst the stuff you're blabbering has become insane.
@dschons "the stuff you're blabbering has become insane." It's almost comedic at the same time.
@Northern_munkey dude's last account got banned. Imagine the same stuff with insults mixed in, lol.
@dschons why am I not surprised..
The reviewer needs to Git gud. Looks awesome.
@MFTWrecks lmao weirdo calm down it’s not that serious and nowhere in my comment did I act belligerent I was just sharing my opinion on pushsquare reviews you know that’s what comment sections are for. I don’t let reviews dictate what I buy but I do enjoy seeing what others have to say about games that I either liked or didn’t. If you get this bent out of shape from other peoples comments you might want to log off and go touch grass because like I said it’s not that serious
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare when it’s an overall aggregate number which is what I was talking about yes that’s a big difference and with it averaging a 77 it’s closer to 8 than it is 7
@Northern_munkey agreed
100% getting this, despite the lazy review.
The more I read about this one, it sounds like a gem, perhaps even better than lord's, despite the technical issues, which plagues Fromsoft's subpar and aging visuals, copied and pasted animations and base models in every game they put out.

you know what I miss? old days where we don't use the computer/internet at all. we used to buy the video games based on its cover-- or sometime we get the demo disc from video game magazine and watch the trailers. I don't care how old I am. I am still buying the video games based on how it look good in trailer, not rely on single feedback from young journalists who doesn't know what they want from video game studios.
@SirSephy I agree wholeheartedly. That was the beauty of being a kid during the 90s. My dad would take me to the movie rental store and I’d pick out NES games that had cool cover art. I did that all the way up until the PS3 era. I’ve discovered so many great games that had an impact on me despite later finding out they weren’t reviewed all that well.
@Uromastryx
I certainly agree with you over DD2 - I played its demo and thought it was a car crash when it came to performance (and certainly should have scored much lower). MH wasn't quite as bad, but still not good enough certainly on base PS5 (and I agree needed points docking).
And I would add ER Nightreign (8) and Oblivion Rm (7) - thankfully I have neither of these as I watched the DF reviews and am not interested in Multiplayer (ERN), but I commented on the ERN review that is should have scored a 6 max (the reviewer had even pointed out the issues), and Oblivion was and is just flat out broken.
I suppose the way I am looking at it is that any positive change in the way things (reviews) are done has to start somewhere, and that hopefully this is just the start of lower scoring for Technically deficient games, and gone are the days when 9 or 8 /10 is given to a game with these sort of problems.
Im not going to comment on the mechanics as I haven't played the game so have no strong opinion.
Think I'll happily stick with Stellar Blade.
***UPDATE: after playing and testing all three graphics modes on a Base PS5 *** :
I first want to mention that in the graphic settings toggle there is a developer note that says if you choose balance mode they highly recommend putting your TV into 120hz mode and locking the frame rate because they know that screen tearing can occur if you don't. Which is at least cool they acknowledge there is a problem and offer solutions to mitigate it.
However I have found the opposite: With 120hz/Vrr the game runs best in my eyes with framerate target lock off, as well as sharpening turned off or at least 2 or less(the default is at 7 and artifacting, ghosting, etc are worse the higher it is but far less noticeable lower). I also left depth of field off as well as motion blur. Those may improve your experience or performance even more if it seems needed for you.
On a launch PS5 I'm getting the following:
I'm getting at or slightly above 60 fps all the time in prioritize framerate mode.
48-78 fps in balanced mode but it holds
most close to 49-62 fps
In prioritize graphics mode it hovers mostly between 47-55
Other things of note I've noticed:
there's a little bit of artifacting and stuttering if you slow Pan the camera but just moving normally you don't really notice it and as far as screen tearing I'm not seeing any of the screen tearing that this very short review said was so terrible. Mind you that's with vrr on, however this review was allegedly done with a PS5 Pro and I assume they would test those settings especially since the developer put in the settings menu to utilize 120 HZ features...
On a base PS5 with this level of detail I think the performance is pretty damn good in actually all three modes aside from some what looks like upscaling artifacting/ghosting around the protagonist during movement. I also can't stress enough how much better the game seems to run in any of the three modes using 120 hertz, vrr, alongside toggling off frame rate target lock.
Now to address some of the other comments in this very short review, especially environments looking awful. I don't know how the reviewer could possibly say such a thing. The game environments are more detailed than any from softgame put out to date. Even with the settings obviously reduced for console compared to PC this game has a great level of environmental detail and strong design.
I will update if I start seeing anything resembling the screen tearing the reviewer suggested(perhaps it was the ghosting they mistook for it, which again looks like old versions of fsr or similiar upscaler based artificating/ghosting. Much like jedi survivor.
I recommend prioritize fr mode (or balanced mode at the very least), 120hz, vrr on, framerate unlocked 1-off sharpening, motion blur off, depth of field low-off (haven't tried hdr, as it's usually garbage on Ps5). In performance mode the framerate stays within ps5's limited vrr window (above 48fps needed to see it engage), and ensures a smoother ride. 6ft away from your TV also a smart move for any sub 4k res /up scaling heavy game played on a 55 inch or greater TV.
So far I'm enjoying it, the combat animations are decent, but the overall quality as a soulslike remains to be seen. It's not lies of P level visual and technical polish by any means. For a 50 dollar debut offering from the devs, it's impressive regardless.
@KundaliniRising333 I'm playing on pc and I do notice the slight stuttering when the camera is moved slowly, but I'm not getting screen tearing either. I have it locked at 60 fps and the game runs pretty well on my PC.
@Deadlyblack Nice! Hope your enjoying it. Happy gaming!
@KundaliniRising333 thanks for the info buddy. As soon as I've finished banishers ghosts of new Eden i will pick this up. Great mini review by the way.
@Northern_munkey thanks man. Enjoy Banishers, I spent an ungodly amount of time on that one. Decent game, great story!
@KundaliniRising333
Stuttering of any level would drive me berserk (no FBK pun intended), and maybe thats what the reviewer saw along with Depth of Field and Motion Blur being too strong if left on (I always turn these off - they will lower fps performance anyway).
Sounds like FSR2 then with the ghost artifacts lol.
If there had been a demo, I would have given it a try; in lieu of this I hope DF do a review so any issues can be filtered back to the devs. If the raw fps is as good as you say, and we are not talking loading stutters, its more promising that they can fix any issues.

This is a lot of comments for a, checks notes, 6/10 game
@Northern_munkey had to scroll down a bit to find someone making sense over the review versus personal opinion. I feel the same about Khazan and I’m excited for this one. YouTubers who cover souls games almost exclusively seem to like this one so I’m good. I’ve seen and read enough.
But what do I know? I loved Wanted:Dead because it really forced you to play it a certain style and that didn’t jibe with most people.
Souls like... Most overrated genre ever
A mini-review? I thought this was one of the most anticipated games for July? Never mind if pushsquare likes the game or not but this seems like a lazy treatment of a pretty big release. Particularly compared to many of the other games released in July.
It's currently one of the lowest rated games on Steam with almost everyone complaining about technical issues and almost everyone being like "i don't remember anyone in reviews mentioning any of these issues".
Just saying.
@ErrantRob I enjoyed my time with Wanted:Dead too. I liked the old school cover and shoot/melee and the dodgy early 90's Hong Kong John woo style..would have preferred a remaster of wet but we won't mention a B******a title for fear of starting an insurrection.
The game is now one of the lowest rated user reviewed games of the year on STEAM with people complaining over technical issues galore, but I guess they are just going against the grain too right people?
@IronCrow86 They all work, look good, have awsome lore. Its even more baffling that you take Bloodborne as a example and Sekiro difficult games with fantastic gameplay and design.
My opinion of Wuchang Fallen Feathers is that it's like Tencent decided to make Elden Ring but with bits of Shadow Hearts thrown in. Very much a dark fantasy game like Final Fantasy XVI.
I do agree that it's a bit odd this game has only got a "mini" review though. This game will be one of the better sellers this year
Patch just dropped with promise of another in the coming days. Testing it now

Probably a dumb question but do the pros and cons listed at the bottom represent the basis for the overall score? Poor performance options on the ps5 pro wouldn’t necessarily be a deterrent for obvious reasons. (My broke a$$ included.) Thanks!
I've been playing this the last few days on PS5 and I disagree. It feels like they played maybe 2-3 hours and just wrote the review based off that. Does it re-invent the wheel? No, but combat is tight and satisfying. The madness system adds a lot of extra depth to it. The landscapes are gorgeous and I haven't had any technical issues with it at all, maybe that is a PS5 pro thing (I know the PC version was pretty bad). I'm having a lot of fun with it, and would probably give it at least an 8 so far (still a ways to go though).
@Steeleye50 the performance on PC is not that awful like ppl are saying. As many other UE5 titles, this game is very demanding and this one is particularly very heavy on VRAM. Players using 8GB GPU need to tweak down settings, otherwise they will run easily out of VRAM and then start facing stutters and other issues
It's not a very well optimized game overall (relies a lot of upscaling) but is not like ppl are saying, there are several videos online showcasing the game running in low-mid range GPU achieving 60+fps
Games that were release in a much much worse state, ppl were not so harsh or simply got a pass on the performance state
@Fatewalker Thanks, good to know. It's interesting to see these days what people choose to attack and how. I try not to pay attention to all the online whining as it's just noise to me and so ridiculous. Have a good one!
These settings seem to work good for Wuchang Display settings on PS5 Pro. Quality mode, FPS mode lock on, sharpening 10. I've got VRR, ALLM on TV and on Pro, but on PS 5 Pro settings disable 120hz as it reverts image to 2160 x 1440, but I dont think its 120fps. Balancrd diest look good but quality seems ok. No stuttering up to now and on the first boss. Seemed smooth and no issues up to now. Just going to Schu Santum when finish work...
@IronCrow86 You can't compare the above average offering to a From title sheesh. I mean the PS5 version of Elden Ring (even on a base PS5) is visually stunning the above looks like a PS3 title and that's without factoring in performance issues...
