Call of Duty

Every notable video game IP is being turned into a TV show or a movie nowadays, so it was only a matter of time before one of the biggest shooter franchises in the world got in on the act.

Yes, a Call of Duty film, born out of a collaboration between Activision and Paramount, is officially happening.

The cinema flick wants to "honour and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place", with the main goal of making "an unforgettable blockbuster movie experience that our community loves", and also one that introduces new fans to the series.

Paramount CEO David Ellison said the company intends to approach the live-action project in the same way it did Top Gun: Maverick. This includes meeting the "exceptionally high standards this franchise and its fans deserve", as well as honouring the series' legacy in general, said Ellison. No other details have been shared publicly.

Presumably, the project will come up with its own story instead of adapting one of the many games, though no plot points or actors are attached to today's news. As a result, it sounds like the movie is still in the very early stages of production. Would you watch a Call of Duty film? Let us know in the comments below.
