I think Dever is a great actress but I don't think she's right for this role. I hope I am wrong. Either way, I feel bad for her because you know the hate that is going to be coming her way. Laura Bailey had people threatening to kill her newborn baby after TLOU 2 came out. The people who berate and threaten actors, writers, game developers, etc absolutely disgust me. It's fiction people.
My daughter and I played this on and off all weekend and I am just completely blown away. Not only is every level like a roller coaster ride with new game mechanics each time, somehow when you think it's peaked, it just keeps getting better and better. It is truly amazing and a complete joy to play. Talk about knocking it out of the park, this one got knocked out of the galaxy.

Been playing Split Fiction with my daughter, it's incredible. Worth all the hype, and more. Aside from that I'm attempting Elden Ring for a 2nd time after shelving it after launch. I got my ____ handed to me 10 hours straight then, now taking a friend's advice and trying to explore and collect certain items before tackling bosses. Been fun exploring so far.
The Order was too short, but I thought it was amazing technically and actually had an interesting premise and story. Gameplay didn't blow anything out of the water but it was a fairly decent shooter. It's too bad even though this took a loss, it had so much potential to be so much more and I think a sequel would have really addressed that.
@nessisonett I really don't understand the hate for FC 6. I really liked it. You have a pet alligator that attacks people, Giancarlo Esposito doing his best Gus Fring, a mission where you make tacos with Danny Trejo, and a Stranger Things mission. I thought it was really solid.
@breakneck that's a good point. It's just odd there were many British indie games that are more deserving of the title (Still Wakes the Deep by the Chinese Room comes to mind). I enjoyed Thank Goodness You're Here, but all you do is walk around and push a button to kick things. That's it. Put it up with something like Black Myth Wukong, which I think it a technical marvel, and it makes no sense.
Astrobot was my game of the year last year, but it would be nice to see Black Myth finally get some love. Thank Goodness You're Here was hilarious, but not sure how a game where you just kick stuff is a game of the year contender.
@rusty82 the first 2 chapters in 2 were really a slog for me to get through, but by the 3rd one it finally picks up. There's a nice LIS 1 cameo at the end as well. I did end up enjoying that one, but it's probably my least favorite of them all. Take care!
@rusty82 I just started it and love it so far. But I've played all the Life is Strange games and love them too. If you haven't played them I would recommend starting with the first one, which was the same team that did Lost Records. I'll have my vote up sometime in the next week!
I first heard of Fares at the Game Awards and thought he was pretty cocky even though the game looked amazing. This just made me crack up and I think he just became one of my favorite game directors. I broke my preorder rule for this one, can't wait to play it.
Definitely looking forward to playing Split Fiction with my daughter, and will be picking up the First Bezerker. Loving the demo so far, it's scratching that Wukong itch.
@Westernwolf4 this is what baffles me, I keep hearing from people about the writing in Inquisition is so much superior, as well as everything else. I have to admit I haven't finished it, but the basic premise is pretty lackluster, and about 15 hours in I'm not seeing what the big deal is. The combat is so frustrating having to constantly wait for your stamina to recharge. I am finding the story, writing, and combat in Veilguard far superior.
I would have been really happy, had I not purchased Dragon Age about 12 days ago. That's ok, this is actually a really good month and is a nice improvement over the last few. I am really enjoying Dragon Age so far.
I look at Suicide Squad as a scam not much different than the Day Before, just with a prettier coat of paint. I bought it at launch knowing the issues it had. My main one was that the campaign could be completed in 8 hours, which is completely ridiculous for a $70 USD game. However, the developers stated that each season there would be more story added, ultimately becoming a fully fledged title. That was a complete lie. Then top it off with the laziest game design I have ever seen - you fought the same 5 enemies doing the same 5 missions over and over ad infinitun. Even the boss fights were shamelessly recycled several times each. Think of all the epic missions they could have made with this premise....instead you were just doing the same missions protecting plants and escorting a bus across the city. Really? It's a shame Monolith got caught in this travesty. Also don't expect anything different in the future, as the same people that greenlit this have stated they will continue to do things the same way. I'm not buying it.
This is one of the few games I envied Xbox users for having, but I'll have to think about shelling out $60 for it. That's a bit steep considering how long it's been out for. At the same time, I am currently modding my Outrun Arcade 1up and this is one of the games I'm looking to add to it, so we'll see.
I have the PSVR 1 and while it's pretty cool, it's still just too much of a gimmick for me. The headset, although has gotten better with the new model, is just still too cumbersome. Usually after 20-30 minutes, I just want out. There have not been any games I've really been compelled to push through on it where I could play them for extended periods, and nothing I have seen with the PSVR 2 that really warranted a purchase. Someday, when they become smal enough and cheap enough to be the size of sunglasses, I may give it another try.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare so far only about 15 hours so I still have a ways to go. I know it can change, but I am still loving the gameplay. My only gripe is I hate all the floating platforms. You see it in so many games but it just drives me crazy for some reason. I just think it's poor level design. But the story is decent and the combat makes it fun. I played Inquisition before and the combat used to drive me crazy always having to wait for your stamina to charge.
@UltimateOtaku91 I totally agree with this. I have heard some people say the writing is bad, but I'm not finding that at all. The combat is much more satisfying than previous Dragon Age games, and the story is better than people are giving it credit for. I think, like a lot of things these days, it's being hurt by the knuckleheads who are always talking about things being "woke" or "having an agenda." Just because you can be gay in the game if you choose, or that there are so many female characters. God forbid a company makes a game for ALL players. These people don't understand that games are created to be played in multiple countries, cultures, and markets around the world. But hey, that's what being an American is about, we think we're the only people that matter. I've played Bioware games since KOTOR and Jade Empire and think it is one of their better entries.
It's sad to see so many people lose their jobs when the responsibility for the failures lies with the few people at the top, who rarely see a consequence for their poor decisions. I'm sure WB has some new live service games in development to repeat the cycle though.
I don't see how it can be considered gambling unless actual money is involved. But I don't believe the game has microtransactions even (please correct me if I'm wrong), much less online betting. I'm glad to see this resolved in favor of Localthunk, but it's a shame it had to happen in the first place. I'm also a former poker dealer and believe me I've seen dozens of different poker scams. Balatro is not one of them. It's a brilliant game that focuses on the actual poker and not betting.
I slept on this game due to the difficulty but finally tried it out and my God is it incredible. Also helped that I read Journey to the West back in the 80s so seeing it come to life and being so true to the novel was just icing on the cake. About to finish playthrough number 3. I can't wait to see what else comes out of China now that they are finally opening the floodgates.
@nessisonett That's a great point. These days, I find Twitch to be a valuble resource for deciding on a purchase. There is the possibility of spoilers, but just seeing some basic gameplay and watching the player's reactions to the game itself are really helpful.
@breakneck Yeah I enjoyed Prince of Persia and The Crew 3. But I also bought AC Mirage, AC Valhalla, Skull and Bones, and Outlaws which were all huge disappointments and carbon copies of what they've done before with minimal effort. For me, AC Shadows is just too little too late. I just can't bring myself to do it anymore, especially considering the Guillemots have said they see no reason to change and will continue to do business as usual.
@breakneck I hope people enjoy it. Ubisoft used to be my favorite game company, but I am just so burned out on "the formula" now I just can't do it anymore. If I have to do one more pointless filler fetch quest, I'm going to drive to Disney Star Wars land and punch a stormtrooper in the helmet.
@slayernz Same here, Valhalla was the last straw for me. I did try Mirage for a bit but it was more of the same and traded it in within a week. I'm done, I have zero interest for Shadows. I swear if I have to do another pointless Ubisoft filler fetch quest I am going to go to Disney Star Wars land and punch a stormtrooper in the helmet.
I wish them the best, but after Suicide Squad, I'm not buying it. To me they are no different than Fntastic games (who scammed people with the Day Before). Rocksteady just had a better coat of paint on their scam of a game.

The demo is a ton of fun. Has way more pirate content in that demo than the entirety of Skull and Bones so I am excited to play the full game. We need more pirate games!
@rjejr I have not played Lego Horizon for the same reason, as I heard it was underwhelming. I really loved Lego Dimensions and wish they would do something like that again. The main developers for this formerly worked for TT games making Lego games so it's baffling how bad Funko is. I really could go on and on about it. Like having "cameo" characters such as Chucky or Meghan (real appropriate for a kids game). Once you find them in a secret area, you have to fight them. After beating them they disappear, and they tell you you have to find them again SIX MORE TIMES. So that's 7 secrets you have to find to unlock just once character. Crazy. Then you have all the bloody parts from movies like the Thing left intact. My daughter and I are really looking forward to Split Fiction next month, early impressions are positive and it looks like a ton of fun. Take care!
I hate to see developers lose their jobs, but this game was an absolute travesty. I bought it for my kids with the understanding that we could play together. Nope. Let them play on release day (full price), and after 20 minutes each they both stopped because they absolutely hated it. I thought it couldn't be that bad and gave it a try. My God it was worse than I imagined and probably the worst game I've ever played since I first started gaming in 1978. Want to talk broken? There was no explanation for anything, so I spent hours just wandering around trying to figure out what I was supposed to do. Things that were needed to advance the levels were missing sometimes, so you would have to exit out and start from the beginning with no progress saved. The sound would pop in and out, going completely silent for over 5 minutes at a time. The combat was lame, and if you died you had to have in-game currency to resurrect yourself. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? Then top if off with every end level boss being completely identical. I can tell you with absolute certainty that this game was never QA'd in any shape or form. I became fascinated with it the way a car wreck is fascinating. But I put it down, gave them a few months to fix the bugs, and when I went back every single level was locked on PS5. Every single one. All I could do was walk around the hub. It took them over 2 weeks to fix it. This is completely unacceptable, and 10:10 games will never see another cent from me for this cash grab broken mess ripoff.
I've always thought the Xbox was a technically superior system, but aside from a small handful of titles over the years, there was not a lot I was interested in that I couldn't get on a playstation. I did purchase the original Xbox, but there were maybe 3 games on it that i enjoyed that I couldn't get on PS. Not worth it. I'm really glad though that Xbox has decided to bring it's games over. I've really enjoyed Sea of Thieves, and am looking forward to Forza and Flight Simulator.
Ubisoft is the video game equivalent of a McDonalds. Imagine if every time you went, they got your order wrong and you had to wait weeks and sometimes months for them to make it right. But the quality of the burgers has gone down significantly. Every Ubisoft game now has the same gameplay copied from previous ones, with the quality getting worse and worse, and almost all of them have been a broken, buggy mess upon release. They are full of repetetive and pointless fetch quests with little emphasis on story or innovative gameplay. It's tired. Play Black Flag for a bit, then Skull and Bones. Or Outlaws. It's the same game essentially, but with features stripped out. They used to be one of my favorite companies but now I can't stand them anymore. And the fact that the Guillemonts have said they will continue to repeat the same business model that has brought them into this financial mess guarantees now it's just a matter of time before they tank. I quit McDonalds years ago. It's time to do the same for Ubisoft.
Very late to the party, but am playing through Nier Automata now. Incredible game. Also alternating with Dragon Age the Veilguard. I haven't finished a Bioware game since Jade Empire and SOTOW. It's a little too easy and the game holds your hand too much, but I'm still really enjoying it.
It's just the way things are now with our ridiculous internet culture. I have seen more whining and complaining in the last few years than I have in my entire 5 decades on Earth. They could make a game where Snake and Master Chief team up to fight Ash Williams and Jason Vorhees, and people will STILL complain about it. I'm so over it. We've had a lot of stinkers lately due to corporate greed, but we've also had some insanely brilliant games to play. I am so overloaded with new and exciting games I have a hard time when I sit down trying to figure out what to focus on.
Not sure if i'm going to pick this up or not. I've bought every major AC game at release, but I'm just really burned out on the Ubisoft formula. If it reviews well maybe I'll get it down the road a bit.

Re: Xbox Boss Says He's Given Up Trying to Convince PS5 Players to Switch Systems
Re: Ubisoft Revenue, Net Bookings Decline 31%
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 568
Re: Reaction: The PS5 Discourse Around State of Plays Is Becoming Draining
It's just the way things are now with our ridiculous internet culture. I have seen more whining and complaining in the last few years than I have in my entire 5 decades on Earth. They could make a game where Snake and Master Chief team up to fight Ash Williams and Jason Vorhees, and people will STILL complain about it. I'm so over it. We've had a lot of stinkers lately due to corporate greed, but we've also had some insanely brilliant games to play. I am so overloaded with new and exciting games I have a hard time when I sit down trying to figure out what to focus on.
Re: Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii PS5 Demo Available Now
@lazarus11 Unfotunately it's not available in the demo.
Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Character Swapping Explained, Loyal Players Won't 'Miss Out'
Not sure if i'm going to pick this up or not. I've bought every major AC game at release, but I'm just really burned out on the Ubisoft formula. If it reviews well maybe I'll get it down the road a bit.
