This is so not my kind of game but I had a $10 credit for the PS store and have not heard a single piece of negative feedback so I gave it a shot. Wow. I'm 100% solo and usually get creamed in these kinds of games, but so far I've had success in this game even though I've only done a few matches so far. The review states you get pitted against squads playing solo, but I read that Raiders actually puts solo players together on the server and that's been my experience so far as I have not encountered any squads. This game has been a ton of fun so far and I can't wait to get back into it later tonight.
AI may be able to replicate basic human behavior, but it can't feel anything. It can't love. It's never had its heart torn out. It's never been trapped, or felt sadness. The great artists of the world have suffered, and used their suffering to create art. I understand the need for mundane tasks, but at some point I can see these companies, especially EA, spearheading games with just a few people using AI to create almost everything. They will be soulless creations. Wait, what am I talking about? That's been their business model for years. Never mind.
I'm glad it's coming to PS5 and I hope to see more of this. But I played it on the original Xbox, and never really saw what the big deal was. I thought it was good although sci fi shooters aren't really my thing; however at the time remember all the bangers we had on the PS2? We had GTA3, MGS2, SH2, Ico, Gran Turismo 3, etc that same year. It just was no comparison to me and I ended up trading in my Xbox after about 1 year.
Got my cancellation notice the other day. I'm pissed. My daughter cried when I told her it was cancelled. What made me angry was when they announced the first wave of cancellations, I went to see if I could still puchase tickets at my show out of curiousity. It said that tickets were nearly sold out and it was a high demand event. Thanks a lot Playstation.
Here's what you do people. There aren't a whole lot of them, but find an Arcade 1-up Ridge Racer or Outrun machine (I found Outrun a few years back for $300). Then go to the website for a company called Buy Stuff Arcades. They sell a PC mod kit, which is very easy to install, which will add all the Fast and Furious arcade games, Cruisin Blast, and hundreds of other titles console and arcade. It was a bit pricey but one of the best purchases I've ever made.
I played this for a bit last night and it is hilarious. As the review points out, it's too early to see the whole picture yet, and it is just a lot of quick dialogue choices and QTEs, but I am still enjoying it immensely.
I never got to play this game but I lived it having grown up in the 70s/80s in Miami during the whole Cocaine Cowboys era. But instead of Tony Montana, we had Griselda Blanco. It was absolute insanity. Would have loved to play a remaster and finally check it out.
Please no more! Astro Bot has literally taken over my house. Both my kids wanted Astro Bot toys so I get them their own Space Bully and Astro bot plushes. Then for my game room I have neon signs of Astro Bot and Space Bully, plus another Astro Bot plush that's hanging out on one of the arcade machines next to Bajia from Wukong. Another has the Bot of War. Then of course I had to have the Nemoid too which is on my work desk. Sigh. I think I need an intervention.
I think this is where I'm getting off the console bandwagon. First system I had was an Intellivision, and I have bought a ridiculous amount of consoles and games since. Looking at the Switch 2, and the likelihood that games will probably cost around $100 each when the PS6 comes out, I'm done. I've got such a huge backlog anyway, that it's all good. Of course I say that now, but I'm sure when either the Lies of P sequel (especially if they do the tease at the end) or the new Black Myth game I'll end up giving in. Otherwise, I'm good.
@Tasuki Same here. I won't be buying any more EA games, ever. However, I think it would be an interesting discussion to think about how and if the Saudis are going to mandate game content in the future. I don't want to get into the politics of it, because God knows I'm so sick of the same arguments from both sides. But I imagine games like the Sims and Dragon Age will now be out for having gay characters. Split Fiction? Nope, it's woke. Can you imagine a Battlefield mission where you have to save an American citizen from torture from a hostile foreign nation? Is that allowed now? Will they have any effect on the types of narratives that are presented? With this, Tencent, and Ubisoft you have to wonder if this could be another misinformation campaign that they are investing in for the future. We always hear how videogames cause violence, but what if they could be used to affect our thinking by presenting false narratives?
@Oram77 I was initally on the fence with this game due to the difficulty, but ended up buying it a few months after launch because I was a big fan of Journey to the West growing up. I ended up absolutely loving it as it was one of the most amazing and epic games I've ever played. It can be difficult at times, but it's actually not too bad as some bosses take some practice but they are all completely doable. I can't recommend it enough.
@Northern_munkey I know. It's sad, the first EA game I bought was Dr J vs Larry Bird One on One in the mid 80s. That's how far back I go. Been a long, bumpy ride but it's over now. It's all good I have such a massive backlog I don't think I'm going to miss anything.
Average gamer - COD is getting way too cartoony and silly with Beavis and Butthead, Seth Rogen, etc. Activision - Check out the new COD trailer with giants and robots and floating islands with swords the size of buildings!
I haven't played this yet, but bought it just for the Don Bluth style animation. Plus I like supporting games like this, we need more of them instead of the formulaic carbon copy AAA garbage we seem to be getting over and over.
@StitchJones Dragon's Lair was animated by Don Bluth, and you can tell the makers of this game were heavily inspired by him. He also made the Secret of NIMH movie.
@Max_the_German some of them yes. The idea is that many of them are opening themselves up to danger since they are going to die of the curse anyway. It was a theory I read a while back and it just really makes me think everytime I play it. Edith's mom was trying to break the cycle but unfortunately that didn't work.
Ugh, this is literally the bane of my existence right now. I am convinced I have a serious problem, as I'm an older gamer but for some reason this year I have been completely out of control with purchasing games. It's a serious addiction. For context, I have bought 4 games THIS WEEK. I spent about $600 alone on mod parts for a home arcade (I have 6 Arcade 1ups with mods), plus probably over $1500 USD on games throughout the year. This has only been this year, as in the past I was pretty frugal about purchases. These PS sales are like crack to me. I think I need an intervention, bad.
@Max_the_German The grandmother Edie. It's why Edith's mother took her out of the home, because she blamed all of her stories and superstitions about the family being cursed were putting everyone in danger since they believed the curse was real and inevitable.
What Remains of Edith Finch is my gaming comfort food. I've played through it so many times, and always pick up new things on every playthrough. It's really emotional and thought provoking, especially when you start considering who the real villian of the game is. Then top it off with every story introducing new gameplay mechanics. It's an absolute joy.
I'm about 10 hours in and have been barely advancing the story. I'm just riding around the land, and there has been no shortage of things to do, people to help, kill, etc. The exploration in this game is incredible and it really does feel natural.
I have tickets for Denver in Feb 2026 and have not received a notice yet. I was curious so I went online, and they were still selling tickets but it said few were available due to high demand. I hope it doesn't get cancelled, my daughter and I have been looking forward to it for months already with still a long wait to go.
Since I cancelled my Battlefield 6 preorder guess I'll use the funds for Bye Sweet Carole. Looks different and I'm a sucker for animation. Probably going to get the Peanuts game too as I am a big fan, even though it looks like a bunch of standard mini games. But it's something I can play with my kids.
@Elodin Yes the only issue I had in the beta was occasionally the framerate would stutter. But it was a beta so I am sure it will be fixed when it releases. Things were explained fairly well in it. It was so good that the week the beta was out I had 2 other new games to play that I was excited for, but I didn't touch them because Where Winds Meet was so good. There were so many crazy situations, like I got human trafficked at one point, would up in Chinese hell in another, and one of the only times I died was in a boss fight with a goose. There are so many different things to do that I didn't get tired of although I only played it for about 13 hours and it's supposed to be a 150 hour game. I did pay the $15 as well even though I don't care about the perks it offers, I also just wanted to support the developers.
@ATaco I really hope another developer gets a shot at Madden. EA hasn't done anything meaningful with it in years, and I'm really not ok with helping to fund human torture and human rights abuses now that the Saudis own them. Would love to see another 2k entry. However, I'm sure you are right about the contract being renewed.
I started playing last night and it's absolutely incredible. I still like the first one better due to the story and implications of samurai giving up their honor, but the gameplay here is superior. That could easily change though, as I have barely scratched the surface. Sucker Punch knocked it out of the park, AGAIN.
I started playing this last night and it's absolutely amazing. Worthy of all the hype. I still like the first one better (so far, that could change) due to the story, but the gameplay here is superior. The game is so good I considered calling in sick to work today to play it, but I didn't. Nice to see the love from other developers, Sucker Punch really has been knocking it out of the park for a long time now.
My 13 year old daughter has been terrorizing the house listening to the music from this non-stop for about a month. Ugh, this is going to make it worse. Reminds me of when my dad played disco non-stop for years when I was growing up. Think I am going to invest in ear plugs.
I am so psyched for this. I know everyone's favorite is SH2, but that's my least favorite of the SH games. Part 1 was my favorite. I think the big thing for me (and why I hated the movie) was that Harry Mason was just such a relatable character and watching him go through hell to save his daughter, after losing his wife, was heartwrenching. Being a parent it really hit home.
Yea, I don't think I'm going to be supporting the torture and human rights violations of others. Bye bye EA. It's been a long and bumpy ride, but all things must come to an end.
I'm a casual player of these games, and I think this year is the most disppointed I've been with it in some time. Yes, it's slightly better, but not enough to justify a yearly purchase. There are barely any changes to the core gameplay. I bought last year's and this year's, but I think I will take a break from it for a few more now like I used to.
I was really disappointed with the Old Country. I was initially really excited to see it in Old Italy, but it wasn't much of a game and was just way too linear. I liked smaller games that can be beat in a reasonable amount of time, but this just didn't feel like much of a game. Will probably skip further entries.
I've really got a problem with buying too many games and switching between them constantly. I really need to buckle down and just focus on 1 or 2 at a time. That said, this weekend is all about Hell is Us. I love the world and how the story unfolds through exploration. The puzzles are nice as well. I'll probably sneak some Borderlands 4 in also. Happy gaming everyone.
It's one thing to have similiar features, worlds, or premises for a game, but Light of Motram was a completely shameless carbon copy. The art style, the character, the monsters, the worlds, etc were the equivalent of tracing a drawing and calling it your own. Tencent is something else.
Loving the demo so far. I actually was playing the Mario Kart arcade version a few days ago (I have a sit down driving arcade machine with it) and I think this is actually more fun. Definite purchase for me.
Randy Pitchford really needs to learn to shut his damn mouth and get a PR person to do social media for Gearbox. This guy has put his foot in his mouth so many times his teeth probably have toe jam. Mistakes happen, but as a company how you address them makes or breaks you. To constantly belittle his consumers is not a winning strategy.
@Fiendish-Beaver I haven't finished Hell is Us yet, but am finding all kinds of layers to it. I still like Clair Obscur better, but both are amazing titles. Have a great day!
@skud I don't care for turn based combat either, but CO has quick time events and parrying so it's a mix. I actually ended up really enjoying the combat. Go for it, it's an incredible game. In Hell is Us, the combat is decent but nothing to write home about. But if you enjoy exploration with no hand holding, you'll love it. For me, both games have amazing stories and the way they unfold is masterful. Both are in my top 5 for best games this year.
Borderlands 4 has its hooks in me right now, started slow but I'm really enjoying it now. It's much better than the last entry. Aside from that I'll be trying to finish up Hell is Us. I think this game is a rare gem as I love the puzzles and the way the story unfolds. It's been taking me longer than normal as I really don't want to cheat so I've been doing a lot of wandering back and forth trying to figure things out. I don't mind it at all because when I feel like I found a solution to one puzzle another opens up. There are a lot of levels of depth to this game and it really is amazing. Happy gaming everyone.
@slabula I could only speak for the entities I worked for, which was the US Government (I almost became a TSA agent as well as a mailman). But I totally believe that. It's just sad how there is not only a lack of care, but downright intentional mishandling.
Going to tell a little secret here. I used to be a mailman in America in Colorado. One of the first things we did every day was help the clerks "sort" packages by separating them by route to put in large green carts. Except, we didn't place them, we literally called it throwing packages, and it was not unlike playing basketball shooting the packages in the carts. Sad to see this. I had something similiar with TSA. When my dad died, we split up his stuff and one of the things I was given was an old Incan statue that had been passed down for generations in my family. It was enclosed in a glass tube like case. I had wrapped it really well in a suitcase, and when I got home, the glass was broken and the statue had a piece chipped off. Tried to file a claim but it was denied. The lack of care a lot of our governmental services use is unreal.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Borderlands 4?
I was disappointed in part 3, but this one is a total banger. I am completely addicted to it right now.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 598

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 598
Re: Rare PS5 DualSense Controller Worth $1,300 'Completely Destroyed' in Transit
@slabula I could only speak for the entities I worked for, which was the US Government (I almost became a TSA agent as well as a mailman). But I totally believe that. It's just sad how there is not only a lack of care, but downright intentional mishandling.
Re: 'Intergalactic's the Most Ambitious Game We've Ever Made': Neil Druckmann Teases Naughty Dog's Next PS5 Project
I'm excited for this one. Naughty Dog, Druckman, Baker, and Tony Freaking Dalton. Sign me up.
Re: Rare PS5 DualSense Controller Worth $1,300 'Completely Destroyed' in Transit
