Re: Sony Taking 'Very Measured' Approach to Picking Which PS5 Games Get PC Ports

Shinnok789

The wording of his reasoning, aside from being plain corporate BS, is clearly general, refers to all other platforms, not PC specifically.

Anyway, the gist of it was already implied by the lack of PC ports for some older PS exclusive games like Demon's Sous, Bloodborne, Astro's Playroom etc, even though ALL of their other exclusives already have one.
They're clearly very particular about what's ported and where, and some of their IP's Sony won't share with any other platform.
Not yet anyway.
My guess is that, like any big corporation, if, at any point in the future, they consider there's more money to be made by making ports to other consoles (and/or PC for those that don't have one), they'll come back and revise this strategy like that 🫰
Money talks first and foremost, no matter what BS they declare in their statements.

Re: Silent Hill 1 Remake Announced, from Bloober Team

Shinnok789

My first SH game all those years ago was SH2, which I still consider the best in the series... for now.
Never played SH1 actually... Played all of the other games in the series, but never the first.
Now that they Remake it, I'll certainly give it a go

I saw now that it's rather short, 3-5h campaign with 6-11h tops for completionists. Most likely Bloober will prolong that by a few hours with extra content.
This also means it won't take too long to develop, especially considering that after SH2-R they have quite an experience. 2026 release maybe?

I hope they manage to bring back SH Origins someday too - another one I enjoyed a lot on the PS2, it's actually on 2nd place after SH2 for me.

Re: Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection Rips the Spine Out of PS5, PS4 This Year

Shinnok789

Dream package, yeah, right... glorified "resurrection of corpses" is more adequate.
A collection of already released games and materials, all dusted up, with some online code on the side, and sold as new, mainly to boost sales for their new fighting stick.

I love those games, especially the arcade versions. But releasing them with no improvements, at least to offer some remastered graphics options, it's just another quick buck maneuver... not for me.

Re: The Witcher 4 Gameplay Revealed, Running on PS5 at 60fps with Ray Tracing

Shinnok789

It's not gameplay actually - only a tech demo, as confirmed by the devs recently.
And only confirms firm suspicions that this is not real
The OG PS5 can't pull something like this off... A plague tale Requiem, and Dragon's Dogma 2 both run at 30FPS with RT on, and they don't really have the graphics shown here.
CDPR may be talented, but there's only so much one can do with hardware that will be 6-7 years old by the time the final game launches.

Re: Sony's Marketing the Massive Improvements PS5 Pro Makes to Forza Horizon 5

Shinnok789

Actually never played FH5.
But as it happens, after a few days of info gathering, I took the plunge and ordered a small racing rig yesterday, based on Moza's ecosystem (Moza R12 V2 wheel base plus their CS-V2P wheel, CRP2 pedals and HGP shifter - all mounted on a Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0).

Initially it was supposed to be for my son and I, but last night my wife was curious to see a game where you can drive freely (not necessarily compete), open world as it were.
So I showed her the above video.
Now she's interested too - and she's not even a gamer!

Hope they'll all arrive by this weekend, we're looking forward to give it a go!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 582

Shinnok789

Rainy cold weekend outside, no fun to be had.
So indoor activities it is.

Started Blades of fire, good game.

Going through it, it also reminded me of the PS3 era... so ended up getting my phat PS3 out to see the... well, rain... again, and got into some God of War and Infamous goodness!

In the interim I'm also helping my son with some puzzles in The witness on the PS5.

Have a fun weekend everyone!

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on Borderlands 4?

Shinnok789

Loved the first Borderlands, finished it multiple times, in Coop and Single Player, it's 4 DLC's too.
But Borderlands 2 was a huge disappointment to me at least. Stuck with it for 20-30 hours, tried to like it, held up the hope it was gonna get better later on... But the changes they made to the game play rendered it overall far less enjoyable than the first title, so I gave it up.
Borderlands 3 only dug the hole deeper, played it for 3-4 hours and quit out of boredom.
Unless Borderlands 4 gets stellar reviews, I'm not gonna spend a dime on it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 578

Shinnok789

Started Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered - never played the OG game and I decided to forgo any prior study (as I usually do for RPG or Soulslike games) and just threw myself in the pile.

Just 2 things about it I wanna mention

First: after finishing the start-up portion and finally seeing sunlight, the whole scenery felt like the start of Elden Ring.
It was so similar I was even expecting the carnage to begin with the first enemy encounter (Carbot Animations "So I tried Elden Ring" - the first video of their parody series on YT - watch it, it's fun!).

Second: about 6 hours into the game I started wondering why I'm not leveling up. It's already been 5-6 ingame days, finished quite a few quests, slain a lot of enemies, I'm gaining XP and various bonuses, but I'm still at level 1.
Looked it up and it seems that I have to actually put my character to sleep in order to level up o_O !!
Well... I never did... that🤦Didn't expect it to be required, since there was no downside to staying awake, like in other games...
Much to learn about this game it seems ^_^

Alright, going back to it.
Have a fun weekend everyone!

Re: PS5's Worst Kept Secret Could Now Be Days Away

Shinnok789

If (IF) il launches next week, with near zero marketing, then it's a low investment / low score Remake, and they already know it, hence the decision to go under the radar.

But my money's on this chap's statement being false.
We have enough low quality games to go around as it is, they must/will abstain from adding to the steaming pile of ...

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 576

Shinnok789

It's a split this weekend.
Helping my 6y old son with some of the more complicated puzzles of Talos Principle Reawakened on PS5 (the rest he solves by himself).
And continuing my trek through The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered (on PC), in preparation for the Season 2 that's about to launch.
Have a fun weekend everyone!

Re: The Last of Us 2 Guide: A Full 100% Collectibles Walkthrough

Shinnok789

@get2sammyb
You should add the Trophies that can be obtained throughout the story, directly inside the walk-through.
It's a nifty QOL feature I found very useful in other guides.
Prevents having to follow 2 guides, or risk losing a trophy/having to replay a portion of a chapter because you accidentally went too far ahead without realizing (especially in a quasi-linear game like this).

Re: Game of the Month: Assassin's Creed Shadows (March 2025)

Shinnok789

This is becoming like an "Employee of the month" monthly award?

It would be nice to be able to make some bets along the way with points, and some rewards (avatars maybe, or make a winner list with the top 3 in the last 3 months and temporarily add it in a "Hall of fame" panel on the main page, posted for the next 3 months, etc).

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Thoughts on Potential $80 PS5 Games?

Shinnok789

Only play on launch day if you can pay for 1 month of a subscription that offers it (game pass, ubisoft+) - cheapest way to go about it.
Or if you already have such subscription active for a longer period, ofc.
Or you manage get your title at a lower price on a cd key site (mostly valid for pc versions, though...).

Otherwise, be smart and wait for discounts.
A lot of titles get 40-50% off after 6-9 months, some even earlier, especially triple R games (remakes, remasters, reboots).

With so many games around nowadays, surely you have a hefty backlog formed up, and you can get into that while you wait for price drops.

Should I mention 90% of titles launch with bugs, and only get corrected after months of patches? One more reason to wait.

Re: The Last of Us Showrunner Isn't Concerned About Bella Ramsey's Ellie Looking Too Young in Season 2

Shinnok789

Love the games, and the show, so I've decided to start some prepping.
Finished Part 1 on PC a few days ago, now I'm (re)watching Season 1.
Already preordered TLoU Part 2 for PC (launching Thursday 3rd), gonna have 10 days to finish it. Wanna have it fresh in my mind going into Season 2.

About Bella - before Season 1 I was also reticent to accept her as Ellie by looks differences alone compared to the game character. But after watching the show that changed, she manages to capture her spirit so well, that she fits the role exemplary.
Her age is not an issue as far as I'm concerned, lots of people don't look their age in either direction, so I'm ok with it.
