Imagine Sony releasing this one at 749$ without a disk drive, and selling the drive separately for 50-100$...
And those stripes are a wrong design choice... Yo, Sony, is that the best you can do ? There's a lot of talented people out there, put that HR department to work!
A hefty Bloodborne Remake or a straight up Bloodborne 2 - I'm fine with both.
However, I don't believe the rumor. If it's "in the works" It won't be for PS5 Pro, Sony won't release it casually, they'll wait for a console launch to make a huge case out of it. So it'll come out on PS6 - which is an uber long shot for a rumor to nail down. If it's supposed to release on PS5 Pro launch, it wouldn't be "in the works", but in the final phase.
All in all, if this rumor doesn't have something more concrete to back it up, it should not be taken seriously.
"Where else would it be?" TGS 2024 maybe? Which starts exactly 1 month from now. Since Sony plans to be there this year with a big arse booth - after 5 years of absence - seems strange that they would also plan a State of Play close to that date... Anyway, we'll find out soon enough.
I don't know why but this game leaves me the impression of a second Starfield: in that it looks epic and promises a ton, but will end up disappointing players in various ways.
I have game pass U for a while longer, so I'll give it a go on PC either way.... I can only hope they prove me wrong and deliver.
Sony doesn't share a list of games it plans to bring to PC...
Hell, they don't even make one for their own PS Studios titles that they plan to release on PS5 in the next 1-2 years....
So why would MS and Xbox make one for the games it plans to bring to PS5?
And on the other hand, why does it matter? I mean a list would be maybe a "nice to have" but I, for one, don't really care if they'll make one or not. One doesn't primarily buy a PS to play Xbox games...
Crimson Desert - would be great to see more of it, maybe even a launch date. It looked damned impressive in last year's trailer. Death Stranding 2 - some gameplay?
For the rest of the games I'm aiming to play this year, I don't need (nor want) any more info... leave at least some mystery to be uncovered during my playthrough.
Also some new good surprises would be nice.
But I won't be having any hopes going into the show, for any of the above - it's for the best.
Good preview, short and efficient! And I like what I'm seeing about the Remake itself. Silent Hill 2 This was the very first SH game I played back in the day, and the one I like best (after having finished most of them.... even Origins and The Room).
The thing that impressed me the most about it and stuck with me ever since, was the sequence at the beginning where you get to pick up an ordinary piece of wood with nails in it and start fighting back... Epic ! I don't care at all for games where you're forced to be just a scared little "mouse", with no option to get something like a simple frying pan or whatever, and bonk monsters on the head.
I was a bit concerned that Bloober would simply throw something together just to get a quick buck - very glad to be proven wrong. Will get it day one!
Heh, not really a fan of them... Tried Returnal on PC for a 3-4 hours but didn't like it so much... Same goes for Hades The only Roguelite (mind the "lite") that I enjoyed was the God Of War Valhalla DLC, mostly because it's God Of War and it continued the story of the main games.
@Chasloyal You're defending an action invented by sellers to stir up buyer interest by taking advantage of the human psyche.
Action that is very well known by it's initiators to always result nowadays in an effed up tactic from opportunistic individuals, called scalping - and they do it anyway. But I guess that's not a problem... we love scalping and paying through the nose 2-3 times the normal price.
Should I add that Sony's own PS Direct stores only sell the controller in the countries they are located, and they don't make it available worldwide?
And the only stores that sell it internationally namely Amazon, get scalped to hell with the help of bots?
So half or more of the total of interested buyers only see the proverbial "dangled carrot", without actually having a legal chance to preorder one.
All Sony had to do is manufacture 100.000 controllers instead of 5.000 or whatever this "limited edition" numbers actually translate to.
That is not "flooding the market", it's providing sufficient stock so that everyone has a chance without being forced to trip over themselves to get one for their kid... And it would have avoided scalping.
But hey, who gives a crap, right?
If every major company does it, it's fair game, they should keep doing it.
And the resulting scalping... well that's just life, innit?
If it gives you lemons, you should stick to making lemonade, and not strive to make a "better drink"....
The root of the problem is not scalpers, they are actually one of the results. The issue started with Sony, and their decision to release a "limited edition" controller, knowing full well what happened with their own PS5 and it's limited stock ~3 years ago... But I guess they enjoy watching people squirm over their unavailable hardware... so they're really cranking that "people will always crave what they don't have" knob at 120%
I was right in my above comment it seems, because today on Amazon FR preorder offers appeared from scalpers requesting 200 Euros apiece (!) Wanted one for my son, but I will NOT pay scalpers !
Preordered a physical copy of Astro Bot for him in the meantime at a local store, just because of the poster included in the box - he'll love it!
Perfect! I actually won this one at a giveaway ^__^
I've been watching it since 1-2 years ago, and it looks epic in every gameplay trailer.
Hype is all built up, I hope it delivers!
Neah... Sony's gonna sit on the Remake for a while longer, and use it eventually to promote a console, most likely PS6. Just like they did with Demon's Souls for PS5. And most likely, there's not gonna be any PC version. Those are the only two From Software/Miyazaki made/directed IP's they actually own, so they're not available for sharing or for casual launches.
If it'll be like the first 2 games, then I'm all for it ! Genesis was meh, and 3rd was a bit more ok, but still didn't live up to the initial 2 games, which I love! I'd rather have them return to that, to what made the franchise great in the first place: full on action-adventure game, serious story, and very well peppered with exploration, secrets and puzzles.
Well, whaddaya know, finally a useful monthly offer!
Gonna get Lego Star Wars for my son.
He'll have plenty to chew on until Astro Bot comes next month.
Sounds ok, at least for now... I'm not a huge fan of Star Wars, but the angle from which this game looks at the franchise sounds intriguing. If the reviews will be in the same ballpark, I'll get 1 month of Ubisoft+ and give it a go.
A mix-up most likely... I'm happy, however, that there's been no Remaster announcement... there's still hope for a proper Remake or Reboot, that would serve this beloved franchise a lot more than a simple coat of paint.
For me this IP lost it's appeal after Borderlands 1.
Coming from playing BL1, a game I finished at least 4-5 times with all of it's DLC's, and I had a blast in solo and coop... I preordered Borderlands 2, hoping to have at least the same experience... boy, was I disappointed.
Weapons were added by the millions but became meaningless, drop rate and quality were insufficient to keep up with the difficulty spikes... Shields too... Healing was no longer "in your hands" so to speak, you had to rely only on what dropped (if dropped) or on leach (IF you had good weapons... huge ass IF) etc... BL2 was unnecessarily hard for this reason, even in a coop party.... it ceased to be fun.
Tried Borderlands 3 because I received it as a gift on one of my PC parts (CPU I think)... But found it lacking in all areas, and lost all interest in it at about 30% into the solo campaign...
I'm curious to see what they come up with in Borderlands 4, but unless it's superbly done, I won't get it full price (if at all...)
@Ilyn Remaking the whole franchise, starting from Blood Omen and ending up with Defiance... breaking them down, adding missing time periods, adding removed content, augmenting and improving upon the story (bringing Amy Henning in on it again), bringing the combat mechanics up to date etc...
And making at least a duology out of it all.
Then continue it with a new game.
Hell yeah, that would be EPIC! Mostly utopic and almost "no chance in hell of it actually becoming reality", but I would definitely want that!
Gonna go against the waves here, and state that Remastering those games is a mistake. As in "not the best way to go about it" Remaking them would be much wiser, especially from the mechanics point of view, augmenting and bringing them to current times... otherwise they'll just be enjoyed by the existing fans and that's about it. The IP will wake up and go back to sleep faster than you can say Kain. They should do what Capcom has done with Resident Evil 2, if they really care about bringin this franchise back to life.
I LOVE all the 3 Soul Reaver games, and it would be absolutely epic if they would be brought back into the spotlight. But only if done properly, and not in mockery and for the sake of a quick buck like in so many other cases....
It'll come this year, with an announcement most likely at Gamescom at the end of August.
There's also TGS at the end of September, but that seems a bit too late in the year.
Also possible to announce it in a separate event (PS state of play for example) - we'll see.
Alas, they can't delay it for next year, if they plan to release it at all.

However, since it's on game pass, I'll give it a try - you never know where a hidden gem can lie.
Quite a lot of recipes you can cook with "milk of the franchise", innit?
I do appreciate the article though, trying them out in real life and offering the POV of a regular person... even substituting some of the ingredients where unavailable, something that can happen to anyone.
And the results look very tasty! Good job!
@DennisReynolds If you have another name for it, do tell.
To me at least it's in the same category of features with the oh so easily missable side quests, no quest guides or quest log, no map checkpoints, no included "GPS" to guide you from your location to a chosen destination, no Diary or Log of every attack you can make and how to do it, no in-game "Bestiary" with enemy strengths and weaknesses etc - all of them are found in other open world games but will never be included in From's "Souls-related" IP's - at least not while Miyazaki is in charge.
@DennisReynolds
Missing NPC quest lines because of in-game actions and passing points of no return without realizing : staples of From's games.
And also proof of :
how much "hand holding" is included in so many other games.
how active, cunning and relentless are the "Souls" communities, that always somehow manage to find the solutions and put together guides and tutorials O_O

Perfect, keep'em coming.
Gaming at it's purest form Astro Bot is.
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for September 2024 Announced
This September is Astro's month, there's no title Sony can add to PS+ that can match it, even if it's "freely" offered.

Good to hear! They've added just enough new content to reach the right length for this game, not too short or too dragged out.

@Hck Doesn't deliver everywhere in Europe, so...
It's a good tip but that Amazon is limited to big countries unfortunately.
