Poll: Are You Sold on Borderlands 4?

I loved the first 2 Borderlands games and really enjoyed the 3rd. Something about 4 though just doesn't do it for me. I can't put my finger on it but when I look at the gameplay and screenshots it just doesn't appeal to me for some reason

For me looter shooters only online like Destiny or The Division

I'm excited. Even 3 grew on me. It's fun, just the story is bad.

Borderlands has never been my thing, but I'm stoked for those who are fans of the series. Some of my friends are obsessed with it, so it's fun to see them get so excited for the next game.

For me its going to depend on the writing. If the humour is super cringe like the last one I might skip it.

BL1 and BL2 will always be two of my favorite games, BL3 never got there for me. I liked a lot of the systems and features they mentioned about BL4 so I'll probably end up playing it. There aren't many other shooters I'm interested. It bridges that sort of gap in genres for me. If I did play something like Destiny or Cod then I probably wouldn't buy BL4. Sometimes you need to just shoot things.

The showcase definitely quashed a few of my concerns and got my hype back up. I really liked how they brought up a lot of Quality of Life changes to the series, especially ones spurred on by fan feedback, such as legendary drop rate and the value of those legendaries, loot dropping with a variety of parts, and more.

Yeah eventually but I'll wait for the inevitable sale..love the franchise as a whole but I have way too much to clear in my backlog..

@GirlVersusGame I agree with you. BL1 got me as soon as "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked" started on the bus cutscene. BL2 had it all - playable characters, villains, story. BL3 was forgettable; nothing really stood out. BL4 looks promising but after 3, I'm hesitate for a day 1 purchase.

3 was so bad it made me skip Tiny Tina's game. From what we've seen I don't think 4 will be able to draw me back into the franchise either.

I have loved every Borderlands, but this doesn’t look good gameplay wise.

B2 was a peak of the series to me and this one does not look like a challenger. Watching it makes me bored already.

Borderlands 1 & 2 are all time favorites of mine. Loved playing those co-op with the boys back in the day! 3 unfortunately took a bit too long to come out though as we have all gotten older it's tougher to get everyone together for a session. Still a solid shooter though. I didn't finish 3 but liked it well enough.

4 does look promising. I'm not 100% in but I'm interested. It will largely depend on if I'm playing anything else at the time if I get it right away or not.

2 was great 3 was dogshit and made even worse with the nerfing weapons and Tiny Tina was trash but had serviceable gameplay. If there was a remake of 2 I'd be satisfied and would not care about any of the future releases.

I loved Borderlands 1 -2 on 360 with my friends. We did everything there was to do with them both. Tiny Tina was junk to me, BL3 was just ok, and i might catch some flak for saying this but to me BL4 looked like a PS4 game yesterday. A really good PS4 game but i think the Cel shading just isn’t making it look all that next gen to me. Again i am sure others will disagree with that take as some of it did look decent, but on average i felt like i was looking at a PS4 game for much of the video. I am torn on if i will play this.

Borderlands 3 is my most played game last year. Gameplay loop and loots just addictive lol. So yeah im definitely excited for B4

I really enjoy these games. Looks like some solid additions to this, but a little weary just because of the fatigue of so many entries. Will pick it up eventually, just maybe not at launch. Too much of a backlog and I really need to lay off new games for a while. Wish they would do a sequel to Tiny Tina, I know it was in the cards but have't heard anything for a while.

Can’t wait, I’ve never been disappointed in a BL game. Dialogue and story, ok, but I’m not really playing for that. Give me crazy guns!!!

As a couch co-op game to play with my gf there’s nothing quite like it!

Only sad detail (unless it’s a toggle) is that loot isn’t shared. Half the fun is negotiating who gets what! Although get why it’s like that for online play.

But as per general consensus….3 was bit of a let down storywise and whilst I liked the environments of Tina’s Wonderland…it just didn’t stick.

This looks great though. Boss battles look epic…

As always, it will get a shittоn of DLC and I will buy ultimate or whatever it will be called edition on sale dirt cheap.

Did the showcase show something different? Cause it just looks the same as every Borderlands to me....and don't get me wrong I played alot of Borderlands with the missus and we both really enjoyed it for a while ...but then it just became a slog ...3 was a chore to finish ..didn't finish the pre sequel ....so if it's more of the same ..won't bother personally

Definitely picking up Borderlands 4. Played every Borderlands game, the movement system looks good. Looking forward to it.

Its starting to feel a bit stale. The new movement mechanic looks interesting though so hopefully they'll add a few other gameplay systems to make me think 'wow this is cool' rather than same old, same old.

The humour and character are unbareable and somehow get more annoying each iteration of the game.

Even the first game, I remember people commenting how Claptrap is annoying, but every game outtrumped him by 10 and he's almost the best character in there now.

The gameplay doesnt change enough to make me sit through the awful, unfunny, Elon Musk-tier humour. I couldnt make it the whole way through 3.

I have enjoyed them all to some extent. My favorite has been Tiny Tinas Wonderland. Anything D&D related has a special place in my heart and the humor related to it was fantastic.There were many Nostalgic quests. The smurf quest was fantastic. This new one looks fun. Probably not a day one buy, but definitely on a sale pick up for me.

Borderlands 1 is good, and very nostalgic. 2 is an all-time great game. Top to bottom, one of the best of the generation. 3 is...good? Fun? It very, VERY quickly became a quintessential example of a "podcast game." Play while listening to something and just shoot. No thoughts, head empty.

I'm excited for Borderlands 4 for the gameplay. If the writing is better than 3, great! If not, it's fine, too. I'll just listen to something else and have fun regardless

The UI needs to be more stylish and fun looking. It's quite sterile.

Always thought the gameplay sucked in BL1,2 and PS - it was really good in BL3 though.

Tales is still the best BL game though imo because the writing is just amazing. Shame that Telltale didn't make the sequel as the sequel (New Tales) was dreadful

I enjoyed borderlands 2 and sank significant amount of hours to almost grind all it had to offer, but didn't really give a try to the other games in the series despite having them. Also played the borderlands from telltale which on the second play through that I gave to it clicked to me and I enjoyed it a lot.

Have very low interest for borderlands 4 as I feel like I can easily just jump to the previous games.

Loved the first Borderlands, finished it multiple times, in Coop and Single Player, it's 4 DLC's too.
But Borderlands 2 was a huge disappointment to me at least. Stuck with it for 20-30 hours, tried to like it, held up the hope it was gonna get better later on... But the changes they made to the game play rendered it overall far less enjoyable than the first title, so I gave it up.
Borderlands 3 only dug the hole deeper, played it for 3-4 hours and quit out of boredom.
Unless Borderlands 4 gets stellar reviews, I'm not gonna spend a dime on it.

Nope, not sold on this game and not a fan of the series too. I've tried the first & second game and it's just not for me. But i kinda enjoyed the Telltale game.

I think the biggest wait and see, even if this game is a return to form for the series, will boil down to the current times and trends. These games are practically a precursor to what has evolved into the now losing momentum live service predatory schemes we see today. So if they try and turn this into a monetized live service long tail thing beyond the dlc they used to do, it could really make it garbage.

I'm in the borderlands 3 sucked camped for sure, however even the humor of 2 is just so lame in my eyes today that it would really have to ditch most of that in it's push to be grounded for me to really even give it a chance for that alone.

I don't think with pitchford still at the helm, that it's even possible for this series to grow and refine.

First time saw it months ago I was like eh it's more Borderlands 3 this is going to be who care worthy. The Destiny influence is get rid of it. The moveset changes are good enough. Still not an exciting mix of features honestly. But you barely have many story shooters anymore/co-op split screen so Borderlands does the job.

I'd say it's a step up but not by much. The dialogue wasn't 3 annoying so that's good. Still intriguing but not a dramatic change of ideas in 4 really. Just enough of a step up at least.

But I can blame boring game devs, pub, execs and audiences for half the slop we get these days. or respect just a little the ok ideas to mix things up even if none of it is respect worthy but I lower my standards so low because what else can I respect with the directions of games RPG and other generic decisions these days. XD

There are still PS3/360/Wii & older era shooters I'd rather play of mechanics more memorable (of games I'd never heard of I mean not popular I mean left behind IPs, yeah collector/historian looking at gems type games or bad games with still good ideas I'd rather play) & an instant purchase I want to buy or have already.

To me past platformer/racing/shooter trends and attempts even if one offs and didn't sell well still had better ideas then nowadays the landscape of the genres being pretty who cares even for the more particular playing field of directions games have gone.

I beat 30+ games on 5-7th gen consoles, beside Splatoon 2, and 3 to 3 of OG Xbox/360 and Switch Indies this year. Yeah I think modern gaming sucks for gameplay ideas.

I don't like trends but when enough decent ideas are in games, music, books, etc. that's when I respect them, thing is not many do I these days.

So to me Borderlands 4's loot system seems to fix things, it's moveset ideas put it forward where others make generic. It's not much but it's something. Still just a grapple and other done to death stuff and not in interesting ways either. But it at least adds more then just vehicles/running around all the time. I hate RPG design or sandboxes with boring navigation.

Even platformers to me with sandbox design the quests and level design are so boring when its' a genre about movests not cute characters, yet that's how many of them seem to me, just boring, underskilled slop or nostalgia for some thing and not putting in the effort where it counts.

Effort into world themes, not the substance of the level design or movesets where it counts the most so I am always disappointed and refuse to support Indie slop as much as AAA/AA slop or directional follow the leader repetitive products by people with no ideas, don't learn, don't have a creative bone in their body for a creative industry? How? Just how?

I mean Splatoon 2 has a grapple and a few quality of life, I by definition should hate it. But it's HOW they use the tweaks and grapple that made me go, wow this is one of the best shooter platformers campaign's I've played in YEARS and I played it in 2024, not 2017. So to me if it's additions as minor as they are are enough in HOW you do it besides lots and even if not all great still enjoying enough that can happen. Yeah I respect Borderlands/Tiny Tina's iterations over the years.

Part 2:
But in the modern era when very few have co-op split screen, let alone story either as many are multiplayer. Borderlands still keeps going because there isn't much left yet it carves out (then wasting it's time knowing it has no competition really or at least in my eyes) what it needs to a little bit at a time and is still an enjoyable ride.

So yeah I respect Borderlands games still. But I hate the Destiny like influence, it's so dumb. If we wanted to play Destiny we would. I don't so don't offer it. I hate companies sometimes. I don't play those games because I didn't care to and don't like their systems and I hate how borrow this, borrow that they can be.

What happened to ACTIVELY prototyping ideas, not borrow enough to not get sued for patents or borrow this because the team looks over in envy. I don't I think up ideas myself not look at others because their lazy. It really annoys me.

Same as Foamstars did and I had more ideas then it had substance/modes/anything beside skins while still making it more original and distinct from Splatoon my ideas were. Says a lot about how bland the games industry is and weak ideas people.

PS3/360 or mobile or whichever, gaming sucks of what it borrows, pubs/investors want and otherwise audiences let happen. All these 20+ year olds or others of talent, or older, keep making the same recycled garbage and comfort food and audiences eat up this comfort food as well and I'm not for it at all.

Now with the more recent shown it gave off more Borderlands 1 or 2 type dialogue, it has good moveset ideas even if for older eras is nothing new but for the modern era is SOMETHING I wish more did not just Nintendo as to me many AAA, AA, Indies, etc. even suck at interesting movesets and push boring systems and boring focus on worlds/dialogue but I don't care about any of it because the exploration, platforming or even anything uplifting isn't there it's just wander around doing boring things to be accessible or dumb it down and I find it boring.

RPG systems and RPG boring level design to complement yeah there is a reason Tactics games are my only RPGs of choice is they make the most of the combat/level design while turn based/real time ones don't and the level design and combat/dialogue sucks because of it.

So I have to go back to older eras of gaming to get that experimentation and balance of gameplay ideas we don't see anymore, to get that experience as it's not offered in the modern era at all just RPG systems and generic movesets, quests, level design and more I don't care for.

yes. i like borderlands

I enjoyed the first two. The third was meh. So I'm very unsure on this one.

I played 2 and 3 way after they came out, in fact, just finished 3 about 3 months ago, only paid $10 for it and it included everything.

Enjoyed them, but they aren't must play, no interest in online or co op, so I'll play it a year or two down the road

Totally burned out on this franchise, got zero interest in any new entries.

I don’t really jive with FPS as a genre, but for some reason BL1 & 2 were an exception and I quite enjoyed them. I also liked the Tales From the Borderlands, I think it was called, from Telltale games. I’ve had the Pre-Sequel and BL3 in the library for a long time and have never tried them, mostly because of the poor fan reception. I’ve always meant to jump back into the series though.

Love the series and I’ll be preordering this as soon as I can. Can’t wait.

No doubt it willl be a nice game, but the gameplay shown seemed a little slow.

Where's the option for:

"I like Borderlands and am always willing to give a new game a shot, but the third one was absolute bobbins and made me want to shove razor blades under my fingernails just to take my mind off the writing, so now I'm a bit wary"

Meh… maybe one for later. DOOM the Dark Ages is my next go to shooter.

The story is so bad/thin in these games I felt cheated in the end and the gameplay isn’t enough to get me to play anymore

Never been Borderlands fan. I enjoyed 2 despite never finishing, just simply fun gameplay. Have hated the horrific tone and humour, so when they said BL4 will be more grounded I was happy to hear. I've to admit I thought game seems a lot of fun, so might check it out this year.

I actually really enjoyed BL1 — something about the hazy, derelict vibe of it I found really quite chill and appealing. With 2, while the gameplay was arguably better, they really started to lean into the... humour of it all, and by the end of that game's DLC I was pretty much done with the series; BL3 looked pretty insufferable.

Loved 1. 2 was generational. Pre-sequel was mundane, 3 was just "meh"

The series needs a big overhaul things have moved on dramatically. Loot needs to feel worthwhile. enemies need to offer a challenge, they were either fodder not worth the effort of shooting, massive bulletsponges for the sake of it or they just 1 shot and wrecked you with almost nothing inbetween. They also need to make it so that not everything you do before reaching the level cap feels pointless. Give a way of levelling up weapons to match current level otherwise you end up just playing most of thr story with nothing whatsoever having any value and it being a rush to reach level cap.

They've had a long time to work on this, they seem to know changes needed to be made. The new movement seems like a good thing but there needs to be much more. I'd say im cautiously optimistic

There are few series I despise more than Borderlands.
Literally the only cool thing about it is the art style, the rest is appalling.
