Re: Kratos Now Knows His TV Show Villain for God of War Series

Shinnok789

Ok great.
Who's left then?
Laufey clearly (Fey).
Jormungandr must get his voice.
Magni and Modi.
The valkiries of course.
Atheeena! Maybe even Zeus, at least his voice.
And depending on how they spin the story, some other characters from Ragnarok.
Since Sif is there, then Thrud must be too
Also Freyr, Tyr, Durlin, Lunda, Hildisvini, Birgir, Beyla and Byggvir etc.
Quite a lot left to go.

Re: Marvel's Wolverine PS5 Release Date Announced

Shinnok789

How sad, just blurting out the launch date like that, no matter the reasoning behind it. And for one of the most awaited future PS studios titles... no fanfare, no marketing, no teasing, no special SoP edition, just a mediocre X post...

After the best State of play in years, they just felt the need to mess things up, isn't it? Like an "itch" that they couldn't help but scratch.

The new/better direction they seemed to move towards, was too good to last it seems...

I'm glad they set the date, and that's this autumn, can't wait to play it.
But the way they went about announcing it is very disappointing.
And just after the stupid Bluepoint decision.... makes one wonder if there's gonna be anything left of the Sony Playstation we loved by the time the next decade starts.

Re: 'You'll Hear About What We're Doing in Late Summer': Kratos Actor Spills Next PS5 God of War's Reveal Plans

Shinnok789

Great, can't wait to hear more!

@Oram77 If the "new game set in space" SMS supposedly started working on according to rumors from the last few years was not a gaas game canceled in the meantime, then Cory is still on that.
Whatever this new God of War may end up being, a AAA title set in a different region, a spinoff featuring Kratos as a support character, etc, most likely it will have a different director.

Re: Poll: Should God of War Trilogy Remake Adopt the Gameplay Style of Ragnarok?

Shinnok789

Changing the camera in the old games to be more like the new ones would be too much, it will make them lose their identity.

So no - imo SMS should keep their core and make improvements, like:

  • improve upon the existing combat mechanics. I preffer the 2018 gameplay stile, yes, but also like the old ones too.
  • improve some of God of War 1's problematic platforming sections.
  • add left out content (the cut platforming section while climbing to Pandora's Temple, the cut boss from Pandora's Box room etc)
  • add new bits of story for some of the other characters. Maybe add something about the other gods (Apollo, Artemis, etc).
  • add extra content to glue all 3 games together. It would be perfect if they could make them a single game, since all 3 titles happen in close succession, and they're not long. Besides, I don't know if anyone has done remakes in such a way before, so if it's not a novelty, it certainly is a rarity.
  • add QOL changes and gorgeous graphics.

Oh and ease up on the Quick Time Events ... just a bit.
Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoy them because they make you feel like you're participating in the action.
I certainly missed them in the newer games - just sitting and watching Kratos killing bosses in a cinematic scene without smashing some buttons just isn't the same.
It's like you're not the one killing that boss, someone else is, know what I mean?
Best example of a good QTE use is killing Theseus in God of War 2 - after that annoying fight it felt so damned good to Push that Square... umm... I mean Circle, and give him a closer look at that door a few (dozen) times over, ha ha...
But some of them were very annoying especially in the first 2 games. They should make the QTE's like the ones in God Of War 3 - those were well implemented.

Re: Opinion: The Euphoric Reaction to PS6's Rumoured Delay Really Confuses Me

Shinnok789

The difference from "history" is, my good sir, that the midlife refresh PS5 Pro actually brought new tech in the form of PSSR - not just more horse power. Something that didn't happen in PS4 to PS4 Pro.
And PSSR will also be in PS6 in the form of PSSR 2 or similar name - again, something that didn't happen before.

Now

PS5 Pro launched more than 1 year ago, and still there are problems with it's PSSR tech.
It's only well implemented in some 1st party games, but 3rd party devs are still giving it a HUGELY wide birth in ... what...70-80% of 3rd party titles? Even new ones launching now either lack support or have a faulty/fake implementation.

What would happen if PS6 launches in 2027 with PSSR 2 in tow?
Heh... Sony won't be able to convince every dev to adopt PSSR 1 until then, much less to change gears again and adopt PSSR 2.
So the PS6 would end up with 1000$ cost (minimum) and a new tech that won't be used for years to follow.
And it will still rest comfortably on PS5-era graphics titles to fill up it's portfolio, not being able to fulfill buyer's expectations... yet again!

What's the point then? If new tech will be useless for a few years, and previous gen will still be king 'till 2030, why the hell should clients pay 1000$ to upgrade in 2027?
AND if people won't buy the console in sufficient numbers for a few years after launch, if Sony doesn't make a profit during this time, what's the point in them launching it in 2027? Or even 2028 for that matter.

Why not give PS6 a few more years in the oven to allow the PSSR 1 to mature before bringing PSSR 2 in the game?
And launch it correctly, with desire from gamers and marketing that will prove true instead of the fake commercials that PS5 Pro now "benefits" from.

Re: Sony Considering PS6 Delay to 2028 or Even 2029, New Report Says

Shinnok789

Just got he PS5 Pro last December, more than happy to wait for PS6 'till 2030.
PS5 gen is still behind in 1st party games compared to previous generations.
And this will also give Sony time to improve on PSSR, mature the tech and it's implementation on the current hardware as much as possible before they release the next gen. Give Pro owners their full money's worth, instead of mostly fake marketing.

Re: 'Partnering with PS Studios Has Empowered Us': Sony Steps Up Investment in Kena's PS5 Sequel

Shinnok789

I hope they improve on the combat a bit for the sequel.
In the 1st game they strove for punishing combat but they skimped on the means to win... it was almost lacking in invincibility frames and the parrying was wonky at best.
It was looking like a game for kids in every possible way, but some of the bosses were unexpectedly tough for this type of game, I had to help my son push through them because of the combat.

Alas, aside from that, it was fun and a joy to look at for both my son and me.
So I will preorder the sequel as soon as it becomes available!

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate State of Play for February 2026?

Shinnok789

Hell yes, best State of Play in long years!

Dare we hope Sony is getting back on track?
Time will tell if this was a one time thing or a proper Sony Reboot

For now though, congrats to them! This was a State of Play that made me feel proud once again to be part of the Playstation ecosystem!

Re: PS5 Open Worlder Crimson Desert Seems Destined to Be a Hit, Tops 2 Million Wishlists

Shinnok789

Was watching this morning a deep dive interview with the game's PR lead Will Powers - he replied exactly on this "overhyping" subject, and he gave reassurances that all of the features that were announced as being in the game, are gonna be in the game, they're not gonna announce anything that's not gonna be available. I know it could be just PR talk, but he seemed sincere, at least to me.

Anyway, based on all the trailers until now, the recent deep dive into the game's features and this interview, my guess is that the game is gonna be a great hit, that it will have at least the same impact that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 had last year.

Re: Phantom Blade Zero Destined to Be a Worldwide Hit as Anticipation Grows

Shinnok789

Looks ok but aside from the combat, and a bit of exploring there's not much to it... And the dialog is weird, some words and expressions are out of place, not in sync with the era the action takes place in - quite immersion breaking.
I don't know... yes the video is 5 months old, but I don't think it's gonna change that much before launch.
I'll check on it again closer to release.
