Re: 'Even I Can't Tell the Difference': Shuhei Yoshida Thinks PS6 Needs Something Other Than Just More Power

Shinnok789

they cannot do the same thing they have been doing — increasing the graphics power and providing the high-end experiences
Wanna bet?
That's exactly what the PS6 console will be, a beefed up PS5 Pro. They didn't quite completely explore/took advantage of all of PS5's innovations (PSSR is a hit/miss even 1 year later, dualsense is still not fully used in every game etc etc), they'll certainly extend it's life into the next gen.
Maybe/hopefully they'll bring something revolutionary with PS7 in the 2030's.

Re: PS5 Controller's Removable Battery Seemingly Debunked for Now

Shinnok789

I very much doubt any improvement of note will be done to the Dualsense prior to PS6 launch, when they will either release Dualsense 2, or make an improvement to the existing DS.
Whatever the case, IF it will be done (and that's an IF of epic proportions) I bet it will as part of the new gen... Sony moves VERY slow when it comes to such changes.

Re: Sony Travelled to China to Discuss Mobile Adaptation of The Last of Us with Tencent

Shinnok789

Oh hell no, they should give it a rest with the mobile adaptations, they'll have the exact same fate as the myriad of GAAS unicorns they're relentlessly (and unsuccessfully) chasing.
I have zero issues with them if they do it as a side project, but if this financially impacts the AAA SP 1st party titles like the GAAS investments did in the last few years, then we have a huge problem...

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Ghost of Yotei?

Shinnok789

9/10 - won't break any records or even be GOTY, but it's an excellent game! And very much overdue for the PS5's life span...

A suggestion for Sucker Punch though: for the next Ghost Of title - stop playing it safe! You've proven you're capable of great levels of innovation with Tsushima, don't be afraid to do it again.

Re: New PS5 Games Release Dates in 2025

Shinnok789

Thanks for the good work that was put into this list!

A few highlights
October brings Painkiller and the Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection for me, and Yooka for my son.

For 2026... Resident Evil Requiem first in line.
Then Crimson Desert (finally, can't wait!)
007 First Light - if it's as good as the trailers show.
Lords of the Fallen 2
And Wolverine, of course, if it releases.

Re: Want More Silent Hill on PS5? You May Not Have to Wait Long

Shinnok789

@Oram77 Of course it can be successful without combat, there are quite a few other titles in the survival horror genre going strong without it, PT included. It's just not for me.
Also, PT was short teaser, the lack of combat doesn't necessarily mean the eventual game wouldn't have had it.
Alas, here's hoping the next AAA SH title will have it too.

Re: Want More Silent Hill on PS5? You May Not Have to Wait Long

Shinnok789

Silent Hill: Townfall itself is said to be an atmospheric adventure game without combat.
Pft... lost me right there, running and hiding like a scared little mouse instead of picking up a stick or smth and bonking monstrosities with it is not my cup of coffee. Not asking for guns or explosives, but no combat at all is a turn off for me.

Silent Hill 2 has the best balance between fighting back and feeling powerless... It's still the best game in the series, not even Silent Hill f surpasses it.

Btw, they screwed Silent Hill f from the start by implying it's all a bad case of psychosis, all in the protagonists head and not her actual reality... Something that didn't happen in SH2 or 3 for example, where they throw you in and let you figure it out. Didn't play more than 3h for now, so maybe it will get better later on, but this scenario was a big turn off from the start, with heavy impact on the overall scare factor... I hope the do better next time.

Re: People Don't Buy Anywhere Near As Many Games As You Think

Shinnok789

At launch I get less than 4 or 5 games a year - maybe - very much depending on the titles. This year I got Ghost of Yotei at launch, and that's it, and it's October already.

For the rest of them I keep an eye out for promotions, discount periods, CD Key sites (on which the prices mainly go down constantly over time), etc.
Having both a PS5 and a PC helps a lot with the number of available discount opportunities.

Even make proper use of some services if needed, like getting 1 month of Ubisoft+ to play AC Shadows at launch, that being 18$ instead of 70$ or whatever it's base price was.

Or using one of those smart methods to get more Game Pass for less money (last year I got 19 months of it for about 100$, and still have it 'till June 2026... and until now I've had day one access to Indiana Jones, Doom The Dark Ages, Atomfall, Hollow Knight Silksong, Oblivion Remastered, STALKER 2 Hellblade II etc.).
Of course PS+ also brings access to games, but most of Sony's 1st party titles I've already bought over the years, and the 3rd party titles are available faster (and a lot of times cheaper) on PC.

Re: Poll: What Are Your First Impressions of Ghost of Yotei on PS5?

Shinnok789

Excellent game. There's a lot more stuff in the game that i haven't heard about in any of the reviews, and I've watched a few (most likely because of spoilers).
The first couple of hours may be a little slow, but then, the more hours you spend in it, the more you want to play.
So, to those on the fence: take it, actually play it, there's a lot more depth to it below the surface. At the end of the day, if a game manages to make you want to return, it's a worthy investment.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Getting Sick of Sony's Supposedly 'Samey' Approach to Story Telling?

Shinnok789

They've dropped the ball a bit with Ghost of Yotei's story, a gathering of people hurting/killing your family and you hunting them down over the course of the game... been told and retold before (AC Odyssey? AC Shadows? others...)

But for the rest of the 1st party games, story-wise, I don't see a problem with any of them...

Frankly if the GoY story chose a different path, the article wouldn't have existed imo.
Subtle or not, there's enough diversity in the older 1st party titles stories that it doesn't justify generalizing.

Re: Romeo Is a Dead Man Gives Wolverine PS5's Gore a Run for Its Money

Shinnok789

Neah, too much blood splashing and not much else.
Wolverine is explicit, visual, precise in it's visceral action.
This one is a mixted up mess... the added light flashes, energies and damage numbers take up too much screen space, at times covering quite a lot of the action itself. Also the contrast and color choices for enemies and environment need some work...

Re: Sony Celebrates 20 Years of God of War with New PS5 Controller

Shinnok789

Very disappointing this is. God Of War is supposed to be a "crown-jewel" IP - and this is the best they can do, squish a red stripe on a regular controller and call it "limited edition" ??

I mean take for example the Gamesir G7 Pro Wuchang Fallen Feathers edition - that's how a "game-specific" custom gamepad is done properly!
TMR sticks, HE triggers, microswitch buttons and d-pad, 4 extra mappable buttons, removable faceplate, included charging stand, braided custom USB-C cable and 2 extra d-pad caps. And the fabulous overall design on the gamepad, stand and the cable!... And all that for 100$, about the same as a custom DS these days...
Take a look Sony, and a sh...ton of notes!
