Despite its last-minute announcement, Sony still decided to host a State of Play livestream for June 2025, fitting in with the rest of the summer gaming showcases. It promised just over 40 minutes of PS5 announcements, and that's exactly what it delivered on.
The headline reveals were a Marvel fighting game published by PlayStation called Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, and the first look at 007 First Light. Other big news drops were the return of Pragmata, a trailer for Ghost of Yotei, and a Silent Hill F release date.

wasn't bad, wasn't good, kinda meh
Great show, I wanted it all!
That was very very good. Had a couple surprises, and a good variety of genres for different people.
Feels like it had a game for everyone.
I say just Good.
But people in YT chat were overreacting when we still have SGF for more new game announcements (even Xbox)
Excellent. Best I've seen. Gameplay, nothing beyond next year, barely any MTX slopfests.
It honestly wasn't bad imo. 7.5 to 8/10. Surprisingly good.
A lot of fun stuff, I look forward to everyone complaining it was awful. Each their own, but this was very good.
8/10. Wasnt expecting much but actually enjoyed it for once. Good pacing and a decent amount of cool Japanese games, no live service nonsense or sports games to drag the show down š
Il keep it short and sweet.
Best SoP so far.....10/10.
I feel like it was made specifically for me. Iād play all of those games.
Hope Summer Game Fest has better reveals. This was underwhelming
This was very misleading and poor, if it wasnt for Silent Hill and Ghost of Yotei i would be selling my ps5.
Move over, Yotei, I'm getting Silent Hill f.
And yeah, SoP is freaking excellent because of Nioh 3.
Honestly that show was amazing! Sorry Perfect Dark looks like I don't need you anymore after seeing 007
Was good show. Almost 30 games shown, over half coming this year, and iām interested in at least 10. Iāll take that!
Yeah that was a banger, probably my favourite one yet.
It opened with a new Lumines and Suda51 game (so happy I immediately could tell it was his game), you can't hate it.
I think this is the definition of an ok presentation that ended great. The final reveals were amazing, minus the Ghost of Yotei tease that was lame, but everything up to that point was only just alright.
Very very Japanese showcase, not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm really excited that Deus Ex is coming to Premium in just a couple weeks! Now all I need is SSX Tricky.
This was the best one in years. Loved it. LOTS of Japanese rep. And the Marvel fighting game from Arc was a HUGE surprise.
I thought it was pretty good personally. From State of Play, Cairn, FF Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, Hirogami, Sword of the Sea, and Marvel Tonkon: Fighting Souls all look real good. Looking forward to seeing the Yotei gameplay next month. And more Astro DLC! Iām satisfied overall. Just wish they had shown some more of Intergalactic, but can't have it all.
Sod all first party as usual and very very little we didn't already know about. Another sop bust. When will Sony get it together? Absolute master fumblers
I must say, and I wasnāt expecting this, but Bond has me excited. Hopefully it stays faithful to the character and time period. Looks great. Also was happy to see the MK collection, mainly as MK3 holds some great gaming memories for me. Not too much outside of that Iād personally be interested in, but I can see some quality games there. And good to see so much coming out of Japan.
1000/10 nioh 3 was the absolute star of the show for me!!!! And did I hear right that there's a demo???
A- for me. It started off very strong, and had a lot of PS3 energy (thatās a good thing). It actually never slowed down; but the latter half of the games didnāt appeal to my tastes personally. Overall, it was a fantastic showing ā new games, reappearances, and seemingly a renewed focus.
It started okay, but disappointed me overall. The brutally long tail of consequences from Dim Jim. Good thing that 2025 is shaping up to be a bright year for third parties. Pragmata looks cool, at least.
Not enough first party stuff,PlayStation is getting carried by deals and multiplats nowadays
I've said it before but il say it again, Japanese devs are really carrying this gen for Playstation. It feels like the PS2 gen all over again.
That for me was one of the best State of Plays ive seen in a while, Too much great stuff but highlights for me Lumines (never saw that one coming) and that incredible Marvel fighter š
Nioh 3!!!!
Woooooo
Not quite excellent but very good seems about right. A lot of stuff to get excited about. Maybe just missing a really big reveal but that's asking a lot.
James bond was only game I am pretty interested to. Else, it was pretty bad other than silent hill
Which games will be PS5 console exclusive? Only GoY and the Marvel game (and Thief on PSVR2)? And all the other games are multiplat?
Love the phasing, so many Japan based games. FF Tactics Remaster finally announced, more Pragmata, Nioh 3 and that new Marvel fighting game from Arc ystem works. This was a banger of a SoP 9/10
Okay. Better than usual. Started strong, went downhill precisely when Digimon showed up. Final Fantasy Tactics is a win. Bond looked good. They spent a lot of time on that Marvel fighting game so I guess they think that's a banger. I dunno. Yeah pretty okay.
It was okay, Silent hill f looks great and glad to see Pragmata return, was disappointed when they announced it wasn't being worked on a while back.
The pirate game looks interesting but why end it on a Marvel fighting game?
I was seriously looking forward to more ghost!
All around, and okay show.
Solid show, nice to get release dates for Sword of the Sea, and Silent Hill f, as well as some cool looking new games. More Astro Bot as well!!
But my god the ending dragged, I've never seem such a bad way to end a show.
This was just bad when you take into account years of just poor showings and ghosting the fanbase. I'm not saying there wasn't a few interesting gems in there but when you really look at the entirety of this generation and how these showcases and stated of plays have gone, it's just insane to see how badly Sony and their game studios were led astray.
Aside from revealing Bond and another Nioh, none of these games needed to be in the one showing we now see from Sony for a whole year.
The ghost of yotei build up only to punch one in the gut and walk away was pretty hilarious and sad at the same time.
This wasn't the worst state of play but it was another underwhelming one amid years and years of them being so. You set aside the echo chamber here on PS, and you can already see most ppl feel the same.
Whilst there didn't end up being much I'm personally excited for it was a great selection of quality games shown.
Hopefully Geoff has some great stuff in a few days.
That was very good. Genuinely glad I tuned in. Nioh 3 HYPE!
I know Iām the only, but Iām going platinum the sh#t out of Digimon Story.
Also that Marvel arksy fighter looks sick.
AND Pragmata lives!!
Fantastic show. Jam-packed with bangers. Honestly really impressed
Pretty damn strong, I'm in the market for nearly everything that got showcased.
While there wasn't many titles that appealed to my tastes, I still thought this was a very good showing, covering lots of new games coming soon as opposed to x amount of years from now. Also showed the diversity of titles available for the platform. More like this, please
Solid 8/10
Best version of a State of Play they have produced in a while.
So awful, probably most boring show ever
Sony, Arc System works and Marvel making a fighting game? Best SoP ever.
Thought it was really good , the bond game looks surprisingly great , and the marvel game at the end looks excellent, also 2 actual new psvr2 games.
It was fine, but the lack of PS Studios announcements continuesā¦
Marvel Tokon looks like all fighting games killa! Ohh how I wish this game be also classic beat'em up...
I would say a 7/10 since it is better than the previous ones. Nioh 3 was unexpected
@Shad361
You realise that, if the platform holder is announcing more games than third parties cumulatively, thatās a sign of a badly failing platform? Why would you want such little interest from all other devs on the planet that first party is that important?
Gave it a very good! Loads of stuff I wanted to play!
Thought it was pretty good. Liked the strong focus on Japanese games. Wish theyād shown a bit more first party, was hoping for some Wolverine. But there were some awesome titles there like Pragmata, Nioh 3 and Silent Hill F. Some release dates for Sword of the Sea and Baby Steps. And iām hyped for the Tokon Marvel fighting game! š
Glad weāre getting a gameplay deep dive for GoY this summer. But Sony, whilst i voted Good on this poll, you have got to show some more first party stuff!
Edit: Apparently iām going against popular opinion here, but the 007 trailer didnāt look so good to me
Cannot stand anime or people speaking Japanese/Chinese having to read subtitles the entire game.. so there goes Silent Hill out the window for me.. Ghost of Yotei has already been done this year.. should have continued Jinās story instead of Naokeās..
Where is Wolverine or Judas? Show was a bust.. glad other people are happy though
@Max_the_German Marvel is on pc also
B+, in my opinion.
Silent Hill f releasing this year, Pragmata announced for next year, 007 First Light, new Astro Bot levelsā¦very good stuff. š
Underwhelming as usual, I'm up for Silent Hill F and and was nice to have the 1st look at James Bond. Pragmata didn't tell us much so far..
Way too big of a focus on Japanese games for my liking. Also ending the show on a marvel fighting game was certainly a choice.
Several intriguing titles. Donāt know how many will actually be of interest to me when we have more information, but Iāve got my eye on a few.
Opening with Enhanced vibes though⦠Oh man that had me hyped. I thought there was going to be a new Tetris Effect. I was not expecting a new LUMINES with PSVR2 support!
A good amount of games I'd play but nothing that really blew me away. I agree with the above post that objectively it was varied and shows of the range of games on the PS5 as well as having many games that are coming out quite soon. Kind of workmanlike rather than seriously impressive, though.
This was very good. Sad part is so many games launching in September I'm sure there will be cannibalizing eachother.
Is there a need to rate? I am aware that not every showcase is gonna have things for me.
With that said... of course, FFT is one to get. But, i liked 007. Sony doesn't want to make uncharted, don't mind if someone else takes the spot in the market. Looked fun.
Also, i closed the video when ghost of yotei came up. Don't know if the marvel game showed up after that. That game is a show stopper. Looks incredible.
IT'S ALIIIIIVE!!!!
Pragmata, that is.
Kind of meh to below par but mostly because the majority of the main stuff just wasn't for me.
They spent an eternity on that marvel fighting game at the end and I simply couldn't give a toss about it. I'm sure for people who enjoy fighting games its a big deal but i think that's a niche market.
Nioh 3 is the big one for me, nioh is the best soulslike for my money. 007 looks good too, trust IO to nail that.
Pretty good overall. Have to assume they're saving Wolverine for Summer Game's Fest. If it doesn't show up there... could be a tiny bit concerning about what the status is on that game.
This state of play was pretty predictable it says a lot how much I know of IPs, and also of many I don't care about. Sigh. 1+ for research -2 for not caring. Sigh big IPs to please audiences I guess and only show many of the niche ones had some decent ideas.
Romeo looks great from Grasshopper. Is the kind I'd buy a console for but that's 1 game and even then I can wait for it. I have access to a 3 PS5s and I still refuse to use them aqd do my PS4, Xbox One and Switch 1 besides retro systems because modern games are so trash.
Hirogana looks more inviting then Terraway. So I like it.
Lumines looks cool but I hate licensed music. I'd get the Remaster instead but I own the PSP one. I thought it was a Rez like studio game but nope Lumines nice after the Tetris license not surprised.
I wish we got more 3D puzzle games with minimalism like PSP era but we don't sigh. I don't like Tetris/Bejeweled like puzzle games, Lumines just happened to be different enough but not my go to either.
007 looks good, not my thing but coming along well, same with Silent Hill.
Bloodstained sure, fair to see, guessable enough.
Everybody's Golf, WHY IS IT HERE. We saw it at the Switch direct and most news sites posted it Sony/Bandai Namco wasting their time putting it here. We already know about this put something else there or don't include it at all.
Some sub par updates to past ones seen.
Nioh 3 is fine, not for me but cool to see still.
Twisted Metal is cool, but RE games CAPCOM GIVE ME UNDER THE SKIN OR PN03 YOU COWARDS.
Pragamata looks good again at least something interesting from Capcom.
The rest was who cares.
The multiplayer one better be a good co op.game or else pass. Gave me Rwmember me or.Sunset Overdrive or other vibes. Still kind of eh.
FF Tactics I mean its kind of cool but eh plenty of other Tactics games I would rather play. For cheap this one or skip. Even the others like Front Mission or Tactics Ogre were pretty decent but not great modernisations I found.
To me I see some decent, and a lot of stuff many other audiences care about I could care less about.
Arc making a Marvel game is cool but even if cool for them and after Infinite I would rather anything else be funded by Sony for a modern interesting project but sure whatever, I get the appeal it's just not for me. But Arc are a good studio for a project like this no doubt.
That and many times I go retro because no studios offer many ideas, game worlds and abilities like those eras anymore. Just flashy artstyles and bland gameplay or unfunny jokes/eh themes.
I'd say a 3-5/10 so I went okay but would say poor or lower.
Decent, still a lot of what I want isn't made anymore so this State of Play like many others sucks.
But if it was to my taste people wouldn't like many of them anyway and that's fine.
2/10 ...
... games I would actually buy for the future.
Those that wanted everything in there needs to know, .. there's Summer Games and beyond~ š¤Ŗšš¤®š„“
Was pretty solid b+ but there was nothing there from Sony I was interested in
Some people really can't stand to see Sony do well š.
Spent 90% of it reading other news, that's how I rate it...
I thought it was good, but missing that one big announcement to cap it off (like Saros or Yotei). I think they were hoping for 007 or the Marvel Capcom to serve that role, but the former was known and the latter caters to a very specific audience.
I thought it was VERY good. Pretty much all of the games looked like they were high quality, so even if some weren't specifically for me I could definitely see fans of those genres getting something really special with this lineup.
I'm chowing down on a full 3 course meal of crow right now and I LOVE IT!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH NIOH 3 O__O Classic RE 2 & 3, MK Kollection, more Astro, more Yotei, Blood stained 2 and GOD that Marvel game god I'm praying they add Jubilee to this game
That's an EXCELLENT SoP!
For Marvel Crossover by ArcSys, Suda51 Romeo is a Dead Man, and Nioh 3 alone made this SoP a 10/10.
But it also has FF Tactics Remake, Pragmata, Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, Silent Hill f, Hirogami, classic PS catalog from Deus Ex 1 / Twisted Metal 3 & 4 / RE 2 & 3, Astro Bot new levels.
It's a good decision that Ghost of Yotei got it's own SoP.
Really happy to see Japanese developers have a chance to shine. They have a distinct style to their games and I'm glad Sony isn't burying them in favor of showcasing more western studios for once.
there was some cool stuff , pragmata getting a release date kind of was cool , suda51 new game looks great, a marvel fighting game exclusive was very not expected, also wasn't expecting nioh 3 either. so it was both great and a let down? can it be both? still no wolverine , no rumored god of war side game , still no corey's new ip , and still no firepsrite horror game.
edit: hot shots does look fun , mk collection has promise with some secret unannounced games in the collection , and the sword of the sea looks interesting too
I thought it was good. A lot of good looking games were shown off. The 007 game was probably the only meh to me in all honesty, everything else looked good.
I loved this one. I have been wanting to see Bloodstained 2 for what feels like forever! Silent Hill, Pragmatta, 007, Romeo Must Die, Lumines Effect, Nioh 3, Arc System Marvel fighter? Are you ***** me?!
They even threw FF Tactics in there for Colin.
This was a solid B. Iām glad the industry seems to still have some life in the waiting for ye olde Japanese narrative adventures. I honestly liked almost everything I saw. Might be the happiest Iāve been with a showcase in a couple years.
@Judal27 I almost cried! The demo's up, I'm going to try and get some sleep and then I know what I'm doing all day tomorrow.
Last year Sony saved a couple of reveals for the summer games fest show so I'd say the same will happen this time.
Nioh 3 for the win.word up son
@thefourfoldroot1 because I bought the console based on exclusive first party titles for the most part? And thatās in limbo atm besides Ghosts.
That was genuinely one of the best non-first party showings they've had in a long time. Nioh 3 was the big one for me, I am going to lose myself in the demo.
Pragmata exists! The cheeky little note at the end made me chuckle, still don't believe it will ever release, won't do until it is in my hands and I have Platinumed it!
I'm looking forward to watching higher quality trailers for everything tomorrow.
Pretty Good overall, although I feel like it was missing a new announcement with real oomph. But compared to the standard SoP? It was excellent. Glad they're leaning into showing off Japanese games again.
Pragmata/Silent Hill F/James Bond were highlights for me. So happy for 007 to be more Uncharted than Hitman. Also I really needed og RE3 to come PS Plus since I finished REDC first time this year.
I thought it was going to be good until the middle but from there it went downhill. GoY part was ridiculuous. No 1st party and spending 10 minutes dev diary as a closer was really stupid and determined the outcome of the show for me.
No RE9 is really sad, SGF maybe? Also WHERE THE HECK IS WOLVERINE!?
Overall: If you are doing this in Not-E3 season; like an iconic PS legend says: Be better!
@danzoEX turn that stuff off, chat people are mental.
@Scottyy no re9 doesn't surprise me , they saved it for summer fest
Got a handful of games in that SoP that Iām interested in which is far more than normal so Iād say it was a very good one.
Had low expectations and this exceeded them in nearly every way this evening. A fewtitles I would have culled (I dont need to see any more of Baby steps, thanks!) but overall a very solid show.
Lumines is back. That started stuff off 100% on a positive footing. Then getting to see titles like Bond, the new Marvel fighter, Final Fantasy Tactics (not IX, but i think an announcement is coming in July), Silent Hill, Sword of the Sea and the long awaited return of pragmata presented a lot to enjoy here!
I'll look forward to the Ghost of Yotei SOP in July too!
@twitchtvpat
Interesting really since RE games reveal during PS events.
RE7-2016 E3
RE2-2018 E3
RE8-PS5 Reveal Stream
RE3-SoP
RE4-SoP
This state of play goes hard when you havenāt got a salty AAA addict in your ear moaning about it!
Good show! Marvel 4get Capcom a low blow
No new big first party game, besides that a pretty nice show.
@Scottyy sony had a contract with them to announce those games , that contract ended
@Nintendo4Sonic the marvel fighting game is a first party game
It was a very good SoP, both in terms of announcements themselves and the pacing. It also makes me wonder what Sony saved (if anything) for SGF, itās not Ghost of Yotei because next info is July SoP and itās probably not DS2 either because that game has its own event this month.
nine games Iām interested in but nothing Iām super excited about so I rated it good.
Excellent in all honesty, loads of interesting titles
Still amazes to see that folks really expect to see multiple first party games being announced at every event that Sony does these days. Sony didn't bought two publishers and more than 15 developers like MS did. It's not rocket science for Christ sake. Limited number of studios + games taking longer to be made = less announcements/releases. And on top of that, Sony screwup putting some studios like Bluepoint and Bend to work on some ridiculous projects.
At least Sony is acting smart with XDEV and it's funding some great projects like the Marvel one. They need more of that.
@Mintie I know I can't believe it was reveal and literally playable rn I can't š. If I had ps plus I'd be doing what I did with the other betas for so many hours which was to help people thru the beta. Soo fun
Won't pretend I cared for every games but there definitely was some Holy Sh*t moments!
IMHO, that last Marvel Fighting game from ARCSYS was over 9000!
Also, Romeo Is A Dead Man kind of rocked and we got to see Pragmata's gameplay as well as FF Tactics remaster (which really looked like the bare minimum of effort though... but I might be wrong).
So, yeah, over all, I voted Excellent ^^
MGO is alive. It's a 10. Simple as that. Though also 007 and Pragmata look excellent too!
so 2026 looks pretty good , the only thing im worried is if they aren't showing certain projects right now , we won't see those games till 2027 or even 2028.
@ED_209 yeah it sucks about bend and bluepoint , but a good solution would be to either have them make a game together to speed up the development of a new game or to have them work with other studios to help speed up the development of other games.
An impressive showing. Normally these shows leave me bored to tears or rolling my eyes but for once they had a consistent line-up of interesting new titles and surprise returns of classics.
I'm guessing the people complaining about it are spoiled enough to own multiple gaming systems and need first party exclusives to justify their purchase of a PS5 but for folks like myself who aren't hardcore gamers and don't feel the need to own every console and a high-end PC, this was a fantastic showcase that showed off a great selection of upcoming games.
It seems Sony are finally learning.
I thought it was okay. It started strong and flamed out in the end. That Japanese Marvel fighting game was the worst announcement of them all.
You guys are insane. People have complained for years, but this was easily the worst show in recent history.
That show was garbage. Iām glad I didnāt watch it live.
It's 8/10.
When I rewound it on Tokon, I was expecting a surprise Wolverine appearance lol
Just reading through the rest of the announcements and am blown away. Tons of good stuff on the horizon and plenty that's right up my ally. Great time to be a gamer!
Pragmata and the Marvel fighting game look great and looking forward to both games next year. Good presentation and Iām satisfied with that.
Hype show, Silent Hill looked cool, Fighting Souls was a total shock and everything else looked solid-to-great.
007 was the whiff for me. Looks solid technically, but it also looks generic as he'll. I think IO is a good dev but I always think their games are so sterile looking, Mini Ninja excluded.
@BamBamBaklava89 It was the best choice. You may not be into fighting games but a new Marvel fighting game is a huge deal.
@twitchtvpat oh really? So that's why they were showing it for so long.
Nioh 3 deserves nothing less than excellent, I am so hyped for that
@OmegaStriver For as bad as it was, what games or types would you have wanted to see in there?
I found a few that were my thing but still more so ones I either don't care about, respect or were decent but nothing ground breaking to retro games I have more fun with and sub par modern games I try.
@DreadfulDragon Heck, I own everything but an Xbox and I still don't care if the games are multiplatform. 1st party, 3rd party, just show some cool looking games and I'm good.
PS has never been like Nintendo where the 1st party is the key factor. Think of the many iconic PS2 games and how many weren't by Sony.
Very good. Romeo is a Dead Man being the big highlight for me. Minimal exclusives it seems so a good show for everyone.
@WolfyTn For a preview I think it's fair, it's annoying but it's fair, maybe they add english voice acting, maybe they don't. They would know people want dubs. But then again who knows with how western B grade voice actors can be picky. As has happened with some niche games and the studios go stuff this save money and time on actors being picky and ruining their chances.
Otherwise yeah is odd some other western games or 1st party weren't shown they are taking way too long. I get making way for their Eastern business partners and some appealed to me, but even still. Then again many will be at other shows and be either decent, good or garbage so who knows.
State of 3rd party might as well be called no games from sony again
one of if not the best state of play ever..
To me, it was good, as I'm certainly interested in 007 First Light, Pragmata, Sword of the Sea, Ghost of Yotei, and Thief PSVR2, but not at all in the other announcements. Also, I wished they finished with something bigger, like a Saros or Intergalactic gameplay trailer, or maybe a Horizon 3 teaser or Horizon Online announcement.
Ghost of Yotei for me this year, and that seems to be about it...and maybe Silent Hill. I'm tired of playing remakes and remasters.
@Dan12836666 last game sony fighting game marvel vs marvel..
@Ken_Kaniff either you do not like fighting games or are just a troll..
@DreadfulDragon Sony themselves are the ones who marketed the console that wayā¦
It was fine. Definitely nowhere near the best we've had.
There were very few games I'm excited for from it, with the RE2 and RE3 classics coming to PS5 being my personal highlight lmao
It started at a 7, Ni-Oh 3 brought it up to an 8, and the release date for Sword of the Sea (on PS Plus no less) put it over the top for me. This was a really strong showing.
while there were low points(which even then, i don't think they impacted me much), the high points were incredible, it didn't focus on one genre, and had games i had been wanting to see. genuinely might be my favorite state of play, and heck i'm shocked i like a state of play
I went into it expecting the worst, but they left me pleasantly surprised! I wonder if there's any crumbs left for Geoff on Friday! š¤£
Crap as usual 3 decent games thats it really
I thought it was pretty good. Had game announcements, nothing looked too generic or boring, and PlayStation actually unveiled something. Plus PlayStation Classics I actually give a **** about.
Of course, there was almost no sign of PlayStation Studios proper. And I wouldn't say any particular announcement was amazing (Grasshopper, enhance, and Marvel were close, though). So it wasn't phenomenal. Still, probably one of their best showings in years.
Iām currently lying in bed with a stomach bug that my sister so graciously passed on to my daughter and me, so I slept through it. I didnāt vote but doing a quick glance there wasnāt too much for me there⦠other than getting a few answers right on Sacred Bets!
Absolutely amazing State of Play. So many good games coming out!
Great state of play the problem is for me lack of 1st party showings again which bothers me I don't know what sony are thinking this gen really let down if I take that out of it though ye it was good for other games
Wasn't bad tbh. I was pleasantly surprised by quite a few of the announcements but the lack of first party titles is noticeable. Just goes on to show how thin the pipeline is after the cancellations that resulted (still) from the live service disaster.
Edit. Hulst and Ryan are probably Microsoft moles because how else can you explain their moronic "all eggs in one basket" approach to live service.
Removed - disrespecting others
@PuppetMaster And can you blame them? Sony has announced at least as many first party cancellations in the last two years as they have released and/or announced. The live service push has been a monumental disaster.
That is BAD management, which is why Hulst got demoted.
I spent significant tracts of my viewing time wondering how so many of these developers fund such excessive drug habits while living in fear of losing their jobsā¦

Good to see Pragmata in action after all these years. Easily my most anticipated title.
I thought it was "okay." The only ones I seem interested in, most likely would be getting for Nintendo Switch: FF Tactics, Everybody's Golf, and perhaps James Bond. The only PS5 game I want is Ghost of Yotei, but we already knew about that. I beat the 3DS version of Metal Gear last year, so I'm not ready to jump back in to that... though it looks awesome.
it had me at James Bond. nothing else really grabbed me. i am interested in the look of Baby Steps and Cairn but not sure they are really my type of games.
@Nintendo4Sonic i'm guessing that's why they are finally a releasing a first party fight stick , since they are publishing a first party fighting game
Really solid show in my opinion. The new Marvel fighter, Nioh 3, MK collection and Bond were the clear highlights for me.
They're turning Japanese. I really think so.
Refreshingly shocking to see a PS show feature mostly Japanese content and devs, and surely not a coincidence they did so as switch 2 launches and is the most generic corporate thing possible.
The presentation was a step up too which was nice to see, though personally I'll never love the presentation of these modern directs. They still lack hype to the point they didn't excite me at all then when showing games I know I'm hyped for. But anything is better than the switch 2 presentation. I'll forever yearn for the rock concert bombast of the old stage shows. Now to get that we have to watch Nvidia shows with Letherman making jokes that would make a UbiE3 groan.
It's the state of the industry when Nintendo its launching a new console and I neither know many details nor much care. Sony wins #notE3 by opening with Tetris. And most of the best parts of the PS5 show were games that would have been at home on Vita. Who says you can't go back?
They opened with a VR game. I'll take that win!
I think a 6/10 is a generous rating. I'm interested in a good number of games shown but very few were actual new reveals and none of them are actually exclusive (excluding Ghost of Yotei, which was simply a teaser for another event).
I'm getting tired of these State of Plays being nothing but 3rd party multiplatform showcases. People watch PlayStation events specifically for PlayStation games, just like people watch Nintendo Directs for Nintendo games. Sony has done a terrible job of showcasing why anyone should choose PS5 as their primary platform when everything can already be played elsewhere.
Lots of great games that intrigued me. Lumines Arise, Silent Hill f, 007 First Light, Sword of the Sea, Pragmata, Romeo is a Dead Man, and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls were definitely highlights. Sony making a fight stick and publishing/co-developing an exclusive Marvel fighting game from Arc System Works is crazy. Shows how committed they are to the FGC and how much they're branching out genre wise. Would've been stronger had there been one or two more big first party reveals, but it was still a solid SoP overall. 7.5/10
It was disappointing for me: there was literally only one game shown that I have any interest in whatsoever (Yotei) and that one was barely shownā¦
To me, it was the best State of Play, yet. Nothing was absolutely mind blowing, but it was full of interesting announcements. A good mixture of new gameplay of already announced games, first looks on completely new games and some cozy old stuff, I always welcome in those presentations. They had me the moment a new Lumines was shown.
Very well done!
Who are the sore, joyless losers who voted poor?
Best in a long time. Almost top tier, almost. No complaints here, canāt remember the last time I was excited for so much stuff in one of these livestreams! Well done Sony.
Hot shots golf !!!! I'm in
Bloodstained sequel, Nioh 3, first look at IO's James Bond game, new Marvel fighting game made by ASW.
This was one of the best SoP presentations ever.š„š
Can't believe we got Pragmata gameplay, i thought that game was dead. Romeo is a Dead Man looks insane. Silent Hill f looks great. Very happy with the show!
Now for Summer Game Fest. ..
I voted it as a top tier and excellent State of Play.
I do that because it had so much going for it. Great reveals, lots of quirky, fun games, peripherals, banger additions to Premium, updates for fan favorites, VR announcements. You'd have to be a no-name troll to come on here and act unimpressedš
First Light was a definite highlight for me.
I especially think it is great due to the onslaught of games to be presented in Summer Games Fest, Microsoft show, and all the individual showcases from studios, publishers or individual games.
To be able to present an awesome slate of games, peripherals and additions to service is impressive in light of how the SOPs have suffered from a loss of prestige. A huge leap in the right direction.
I'm on Xbox but some great looking games that multiplatform. 10/10 for me just for Digimon and silent hill f n ff tactics š day one buys both them might even boom 3rd Oct off work šš¤£
10/10 Nioh 3 announcement and downloading the Nioh 3 Alpha demo as I type this. That was all I needed from this SoP. And Bondgame looks DOPE!!
Pretty decent, obviously James bond and the marvel game are the headlines and they both look fun. A lot of the smaller games interested me as well hirogami, sword of the sea, sea of remnants, tides of tomorrow (lot of nautical themes going on) all caught my eye some of these I may end up playing on switch 2 though. Looking forward to yotei gameplay soon
it was good, nice to see Pragmata and I dig Romeo Is A Dead Man, Cairn, that 007 game, FF tactics and Nioh3. and scr3w those grifters who are labelling the SoP as "meh" who are just in it for the clicks.
No Resident Evil 9
3/10
That was a great state of playing; I was interested in most games they showed and I think it had a great pace. Sword of the Sea getting a release date and coming to Plus was a real highlight. Lots to look forward to!
It's wasn't bad. Great if you're a fan of anime I guess
It was decent enough (I voted 'good' on the poll). Its never going to score higher for me without a major 1st party title as the headliner.
007, Nioh 3, Romeo is a dead man (providing its a soulslike), and MK collection all took my interest. Pragmata may be good but Im not sure yet.
I'd say it was a good show.
It was similar to what we used to get during the big E3 blowouts, not quite at that level but maybe that on a down year. Compared to previous State of Plays this was a S-tier banger though.
Looking at the comments and as per usual the standard comments are being let loose saying it only counts if Its a Sony studio game. Its noticable how that line only gets thrown about now MSGS are 4-5 times bigger than SIE.
Overall the show was excellent in my opinion. Nioh 3 was the highlight and damn its looks good, it looks like its had a real glow up and I can't wait to break out my spear once again.
Thief VR looks great and I love to see the old franchise being brought back as the original Thief games where always great. I would love if they actually remastered the first two fully.
FF Tactics is a very welcome remaster as those games are always great. It should be a great play for portal players as that style of game lends itself to chilled out handheld play.
Silent Hill F and Pragmata are definitely on the radar and look like they will be great. Silent Hill should be great as japanese horror has always been more creepy than western imo.
I need to see more on First Light but from the initial glance it looks promising. Third person is way to go as you want to see the iconic character and the trailer gave all the vibes of a classic bond, which I prefer over the Craig era bond.
Im not really into fighting games but Marvel Tokon looks very good, if only for the style choices. I likely won't play it but will gush over the charcter designs regardless.
The only game I am uncertain off was MGS Delta. I can't put my finger on it exactly but whilst I was watching the trailer I kept feeling it looked like a downgrade from the original. I am not sure if it was the trailer or the graphical style but it just did nothing for me.
Solid 10/10 overall
it was definitely action-packed and full of energy. There were a number of games I went 'what is going on here?' (in a reasonably positive way!). However, most of the games don't really appeal to me - doesn't make them poor quality though.
My own takeaways were the FF Tactics remake and the Bond game. If I had played any of the MGS games previously, I know I'd have been v excited for MGS Delta, so that will be my unofficial 'runner up' game.
Easily one of Sony's best State of Play presentations, in my book. I thought every game shown looked good to great, and there were lots of neat surprises. I'm not much of a fighting game guy, but Marvel Tokon is undeniably a major get (and it looks excellent).
Personal highlight is probably Lumines Arise ā I love that series and I'm so pleased it's getting a new game in the Tetris Effect style. Suits it down to the ground. Can't wait

@Lowdefal It's less baffling when you take it in the context thtlat Sony have only held 2 actual summer showcases (or showcases at all for that matter, not SoPs) since the PS5 reveal. Basically 5 years now, and one of those was mostly dedicated to Fairgames, Concord and Marathon, the core of Sony's failed live service initiative (and SM2, but that was already announced).
For any individual SoP, yesterday's show was great, but people are rightfully pretty impatient for Sony to finally out out a one of their blockbuster, 1st party focused summer showcases of old. I bet we'll see something big from them at the SGF show, but compared to how first party focused the Xbox showcase will inevitably be for the 4th year in a row now, it not a great look.
But yes, once fans take a deep breath, and look at things reasonably they should see that was a really solid show.
I have been saving so much money this generation

I didn't watch.
I saw FF Tactics for PS5 from the article, I have interest about that game and that's it.
Night 3 was the highlight for me, Pragmata looked interesting as well. All others maybe deep sale or possible interest with more indepth reviews.
I think this SoP was very good, actually one of the best recently. Some updates, some release dates announced finally, few surprises, but overall I“m satisfied...my stoodouts:
I“m already sold on MGS3 and Ghost of Yotei, not really sure about Silent Hill F - will wait for the reviews and then decide, definitely loved SH2 remake but not in the mood for new SH any time soon
Looking forward to SGF and what Playstation will show us in there
In terms of first-party games, Sony has pretty much lost this generation due to their push for live-service games. Hopefully, PS6 or the end of the PS5 era will be redeemed with quality single player games.
I think people who don't play fighting games don't quite realise how huge the Marvel news is within the FGC. Absolutely massive.
That alone makes it a 10/10 for me, but even before that it was a pretty sick event.
@SuntannedDuck2 Even if they were not from Sony studios, I would have liked to seen games that gave me vibes similar to: Motorstorm Pacific Rift, LBP, Resistance, Puppeteer, Little Nightmares, Reanimal, South of Midnight, Infamous, Bioshock, Sifu, Limbo.
The vast majority of what was shown did nothing for me. Games like No More Heroes and Journey donāt do it for me.
@johnedwin Not a fan of the Japanese aesthetic or a big fan of fighting games.
@Ken_Kaniff you must be new to sony as they started out very japanese in there games i was there from the start of the playstation era..
@johnedwin Nope, been around since the PS1 era as well. Im more of the Infamous, Resistance, GOW fan of Sony and less of the Japanese style games.
TRASH!!!! I mean the games shown were ok. But this is Xbox one type of showcase. All 3rd party games with no 1st party. The games they cancelled has crippled their 1st party so bad. I am not even excited for these shows until PS6. Even PS YouTube channels that defend Sony to the ends of the earth are fed up. That shocked me to see, as they are realizing these boxes are all the same and there is very little stand out games being made for one platform any time soon. Devās are going to all devices and many are now starting to hit Steam day and date.
Are u all bots besides like 2 games that is the biggest pile of trash I've ever seen sony is complete trash right now just cancel your state of plays at this point hope the pc show is better.
all the youtubers i follow went nuts watching the new marvel trailer and most were nintendo sony and even a few xbox youtubers as well.. gamers like games no matter what kind of game it is..
@OmegaStriver Understandable. To me I don't care about a single Sony made game anymore, even Xbox is just 1st party making 3rd party design type games I can't stand beside what Hi Fi Rush or South of Midnight as decent, their variety but lack of appeal is their own issue there.
The design is just not for me. Yes even Sackboy, Ratchet Rift Apart, GT7 and Astrobot didn't do it for me. The others are 'fine' but not my thing, in PS1 to 3 era they would have but PS4/5 era they haven't. Many of the 2016+ PS4 era IPs didn't do it for me. The niche ones did and the creative ones of now aren't.
So yeah I'd like many of the PS1-3/PSP/Vita IPs you listed, or something new.
To me third parties, 'particular third parties' are more my go to and some of them were here as some of my types but a lot wasn't.
So I kind of get it. If into the types you mentioned. Especially with Reanimal/Little Nightmares, got someone I know who can't wait to play those and I enjoy many of the action or racing ones you mentioned. My larger thoughts on certain titles are further up in the comments anyway (above the one I replied to you with).
So I get what you mean with some titles going for that type of particular direction we see at other showcases or trailers for but not at something like a State of Play.
It makes sense if people were seeking 1st party or more along those lines of 3rd parties and I get that Sony wants to focus on their Asian partners while the others do their thing at other showcases.
But yeah if your more into 1st party, totally get it.
It's why I think they messed up with Bend/Bluepoint they could have easily had something ready to fill in the gap alongside Yotei but nope, they wasted their talent, time and money. It's their own fault there.
@MidnightDragonDX @themightyant @UltimateOtaku91 @Athrum @nessisonett @Titntin I'm looking forward to playing these 7 games, will buy them during a big sale in a few years.
2025
FBC: Firebreak (Control spinoff) - June 17
Digimon Story: Time Stranger - October 3rd

007: First Light (James Bond)
Marvel TÅkon: Fighting Souls
Pragmata (Capcom Sci-Fi/Space Robot game)
Romeo is a Dead Man (Suda51/Grasshopper)
Sea of Remnants (Anime Pirate RPG)
Was an excellent showcase for me.
The FF Tactics remaster has finally been announced and is due out in a few months.
Snake Eater Remake looks amazing, hopefully will see some gameplay at Summer Games Fest.
Digimon Story Time Stranger looks incredible and is due out sooner than I thought it would be.
Pragmata finally got a new trailer and a release window and Iām glad itās not cancelled as it looks amazing.
They could have shown a bit more but thereās the Summer Games Fest coming up so theyāll show more there
I thought it was excellent. I'm looking forward to Pragmata and Silent Hill F. I know I'm late to the party but I didn't get a chance to watch it until today.
