Re: Poll: Are You Sold on Borderlands 4?

Shinnok789

Loved the first Borderlands, finished it multiple times, in Coop and Single Player, it's 4 DLC's too.
But Borderlands 2 was a huge disappointment to me at least. Stuck with it for 20-30 hours, tried to like it, held up the hope it was gonna get better later on... But the changes they made to the game play rendered it overall far less enjoyable than the first title, so I gave it up.
Borderlands 3 only dug the hole deeper, played it for 3-4 hours and quit out of boredom.
Unless Borderlands 4 gets stellar reviews, I'm not gonna spend a dime on it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 578

Shinnok789

Started Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered - never played the OG game and I decided to forgo any prior study (as I usually do for RPG or Soulslike games) and just threw myself in the pile.

Just 2 things about it I wanna mention

First: after finishing the start-up portion and finally seeing sunlight, the whole scenery felt like the start of Elden Ring.
It was so similar I was even expecting the carnage to begin with the first enemy encounter (Carbot Animations "So I tried Elden Ring" - the first video of their parody series on YT - watch it, it's fun!).

Second: about 6 hours into the game I started wondering why I'm not leveling up. It's already been 5-6 ingame days, finished quite a few quests, slain a lot of enemies, I'm gaining XP and various bonuses, but I'm still at level 1.
Looked it up and it seems that I have to actually put my character to sleep in order to level up o_O !!
Well... I never did... that🤦Didn't expect it to be required, since there was no downside to staying awake, like in other games...
Much to learn about this game it seems ^_^

Alright, going back to it.
Have a fun weekend everyone!

Re: PS5's Worst Kept Secret Could Now Be Days Away

Shinnok789

If (IF) il launches next week, with near zero marketing, then it's a low investment / low score Remake, and they already know it, hence the decision to go under the radar.

But my money's on this chap's statement being false.
We have enough low quality games to go around as it is, they must/will abstain from adding to the steaming pile of ...

Shinnok789

It's a split this weekend.
Helping my 6y old son with some of the more complicated puzzles of Talos Principle Reawakened on PS5 (the rest he solves by himself).
And continuing my trek through The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered (on PC), in preparation for the Season 2 that's about to launch.
Have a fun weekend everyone!

Re: The Last of Us 2 Guide: A Full 100% Collectibles Walkthrough

Shinnok789

@get2sammyb
You should add the Trophies that can be obtained throughout the story, directly inside the walk-through.
It's a nifty QOL feature I found very useful in other guides.
Prevents having to follow 2 guides, or risk losing a trophy/having to replay a portion of a chapter because you accidentally went too far ahead without realizing (especially in a quasi-linear game like this).

Re: Game of the Month: Assassin's Creed Shadows (March 2025)

Shinnok789

This is becoming like an "Employee of the month" monthly award?

It would be nice to be able to make some bets along the way with points, and some rewards (avatars maybe, or make a winner list with the top 3 in the last 3 months and temporarily add it in a "Hall of fame" panel on the main page, posted for the next 3 months, etc).

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Thoughts on Potential $80 PS5 Games?

Shinnok789

Only play on launch day if you can pay for 1 month of a subscription that offers it (game pass, ubisoft+) - cheapest way to go about it.
Or if you already have such subscription active for a longer period, ofc.
Or you manage get your title at a lower price on a cd key site (mostly valid for pc versions, though...).

Otherwise, be smart and wait for discounts.
A lot of titles get 40-50% off after 6-9 months, some even earlier, especially triple R games (remakes, remasters, reboots).

With so many games around nowadays, surely you have a hefty backlog formed up, and you can get into that while you wait for price drops.

Should I mention 90% of titles launch with bugs, and only get corrected after months of patches? One more reason to wait.

Re: The Last of Us Showrunner Isn't Concerned About Bella Ramsey's Ellie Looking Too Young in Season 2

Shinnok789

Love the games, and the show, so I've decided to start some prepping.
Finished Part 1 on PC a few days ago, now I'm (re)watching Season 1.
Already preordered TLoU Part 2 for PC (launching Thursday 3rd), gonna have 10 days to finish it. Wanna have it fresh in my mind going into Season 2.

About Bella - before Season 1 I was also reticent to accept her as Ellie by looks differences alone compared to the game character. But after watching the show that changed, she manages to capture her spirit so well, that she fits the role exemplary.
Her age is not an issue as far as I'm concerned, lots of people don't look their age in either direction, so I'm ok with it.

Re: Lies of P: Overture Full of Bosses, Weapons, Ideas that Didn't Fit in the Base Game

Shinnok789

I don't see why the comparison to Bloodborne...
To those who like Lies of P - perfectly grand, enjoy!
But to me, it doesn't match it... and yes I've played LoP, for at least 25-30 hours, but after that, there was nothing left that could drive me forward, lost interest completely...
Combat, lore, art, atmosphere, and gameplay in general are on a whole different level in BB, a lot more appealing from start to finish (to me at least).

Re: Naughty Dog's Intergalactic Unlikely to Release on PS5 Until 2027

Shinnok789

@DonJorginho End of 2027 marks the console's usual 7 year lifespan.
And given the ever growing emphasis on Ray Tracing, already starting to become mandatory (slowly but steadily), the now low power of the PS5, and the unavoidable limitations that the PS5 Pro will reach in future games, I'd say Sony will stick to the established time frame.

Re: Naughty Dog's Intergalactic Unlikely to Release on PS5 Until 2027

Shinnok789

2027 means crossgen... great way to start the PS6, considering PS5 left a very sour taste in this dept.
Worst thing about it though, will be the social media drama that will be dragged along for years and at least 6 months after launch.
I hope they continue to keep details about the game bottled up as much as possible for as long as possible... religious controversy is NOT to be trifled with.
At the very least ND and Sony should take ample measures to protect the devs, prevent what happened after TLoU 2 from happening again...

Re: God of War Fans Gutted with Free 20th Anniversary Goodies

Shinnok789

Noooo, but i wanted games, waaa..... 😭😭

Sheesh... bunch o' spoiled cry babies.
It's ok to point out when you want something else (hell, i want a Remake of the Greek saga too), but making such a drama out of it helps no one...

And they talk about no respect for fans... how about fans having no respect for the devs? It's not a one way street...

Re: Silent Hill F Revealed for PS5 in Debut Trailer

Shinnok789

It's a horror game, and looks very good graphically.
But it simply doesn't have the Silent Hill feeling and general atmosphere...

My guess: 7 rating game... "there but not back again" so to paraphrase..

It's dark scenes are still too bright, you can clearly see all your surroundings, diminishing the fear of the unknown, the fear of making a few steps forward because you may stumble on a creature just waiting or roaming in the dark close by, unseen until it's too late...
Quite a few scenes are too colorful...
And it doesn't "raise the hair on your back" so to speak, as SH2 does for example...
Maybe the full game will prove me wrong, but I don't bet on it.

Re: Don't Sleep on Promising PS5 Dark Fantasy Hell Is Us

Shinnok789

The game got my attention form previous presentations, I'l certainly keep an eye on it.

About the secret mentioned at the end: there are cows in the game as shown at 01:26, and there are also the humanitarian trucks. Depending on the game's mechanics, one of those could solve it.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Length Between 40 and 80 Hours, New Game+ Under Consideration

Shinnok789

Depends very much on how good and entertaining AC Shadows is.

The Witcher 3 was ~75 hours long, with >150 hours for completionists, and didn't have that much drama around it, because of it's exquisite quality... Some sidequests were even better than the mainline, of course you'd delve into them all.

AC Valhalla was about the same length as Witcher 3, but it was capital Boring, an issue that contributed a lot to it's perceived length...

I loved AC Odyssey (made by the same team that does AC Shadows), and despite it's 45h/140h length, I've completed it 3 times + all of it's DLC's - it was that entertaining.
So if AC Shadows ends up in the same ballpark, it'd be grand!

Re: Random: Bloodborne Fans Cope with State of Play No-Show

Shinnok789

What we'll receive at the end of March is the usual annual "Return to Yharnam" fan gathering call, for all to join the game for its anniversary, but that's about it...
It's still up to fans to entertain fans for at least 1 more year, until Sony manages to address the hole they've left in their own catalog after spending billions trying to find GaaS gold mines...
