Silent Hill 1 Remake Announced, from Bloober Team

What a time to be a Silent Hill fan. We were famished for years and now we're eating again. Can't wait for this and Silent Hill f.

Brilliant news!! I'm more excited for the fact this means Silent Hill 3 will also get a remake because they go hand-in-hand, and SH3 is my favourite in the whole franchise.

Can't wait! Bloober did a superb job with the SH2 Remake.

Bloober Team already nailed the way more thematically complex and sensitive game in the series, so this should be a walk in the park by comparison.

After they nailed the remake of SH2 (best game in the series imo), I trust them a lot with the remake of the first game.

Nice. The original is still my favorite Silent Hill game, and the sense of dread in unmatched in the rest of the series, so I'm excited it's getting another pass. Hopefully Bloober nails this one, too.

It's one of my personal favourite PS1 games. Voice acting has obviously dated badly but the atmosphere is still denser than a neutron star

Finally! SH1 still remains as my favorite SH game. Just replayed it last year before playing SH2 Remake (still holds up) and now we're also getting the remake. Thank you, Konami!

Man what a time for Horror fans. SH1 remake, Silent Hill F, Resident Evil 9. Blooper also on another project (forgot the name) so yeah. Plus several othe rprojects that are in the works, boy oh boy.

Fix SH2 first on the pro.

5 years ago if you told me they would be able to bring Silent Hill back from the dead, I would call you crazy. What a time to be alive!

I just screamed out "YES!" reading this. Everyone piles the acclaim on SH2, but aside from graphics I always thought the first one was far superior. The story resonated with me so much (especially being a parent) and this one truly scared me when I first played it, much more than any of its successors. I am so happy to hear this, day 1 purchase easy.

I dont know what is up with Konami anymore. But they need to keep this going. They have done so many good things as of late.

Amazing. For as much as I love 2, and believe me, I absolutely adore it and the remake, the first one was always way more scary to me.
The second was psychological, the first was scary just from walking down hallways and just looking at the environment. I’m so excited for this but I also dread the wait. I feel like it was a chore to wait so long for the second remake (was so worth it) but this is going to be another patience test 😩

I hope they keep the little sound effects that would happen randomly and figure out a way to keep the cinematic camera angles on certain scenes. Don’t know how that would translate though if it’s going to be 3rd person again.
Nonetheless, I don’t care, I’m here for whatever they serve up!

I'm looking forwards to this remake & Silent Hill f. I am hoping Konami remake's Castlevania Lords of Shadows one & two.

Why can’t they do this stuff in order 🙄 okay I’ll be interested to see as more of an overhaul required than 2 but in the meantime small matter of a new game incoming….

The only thing I hope for is that SH1 had a certain “vibe” that was unique. That’s what I hope is maintained.

I really loved the first one when I played it for the first time on Vita even if it scared me sh*tless. Something about the low fidelity just makes it creepier. I still can’t quite believe Bloober pulled off the second one (mostly) so fair enough, go for the first one now as it’s less thematically complex.

@SystemAddict SH2 is most popular one and is a stand alone story, so it did make sense to start with it first.

Nice one, it's the only game out the first 6 (I stopped after that) that I never played, and always wanted to. I suspect this will be a great way to experience it finally.

@Ultimapunch it's been so long...last time they were top tier was RE3 then tailed off until 7, and Silent hill just basically drop of the planet, and now 3 massive releases within a year

@DadJKP they manage to keep thecfeel and vibe on SH2 remake, I have full faith in them with SH1 to do the same

@Oram77 it’s true the 1st was one of things that was like breaking the ice before finding true form with the true “debut”. I actually went out of my way when it came out after work to buy an export copy in a small independent store under the railway, don’t think many people were playing it

First of all, love the gif, it´s hilarious. And I know exactely where it is in the original game. How funny is that? 😜
Second, from one hardcore Castlevania fan to another, I to was expecting something, anything about this beloved franchise.
Not today it seems.
But Sillent Hill one remake with Blooper team at the helm? Count me in on day one.
With this anouncement, Resident Evil 9 Requiem and Cronos The New Dawn, survival horror fans are eating really nicely.

@Keyblade-Dan actually, Silent Hill 1 is legally playable: it's available to buy on the PS Vita. But if you don't have a PS Vita, then, sadly, no luck as no other options are available.

I was all in during that survival horror craze so I played all those you mentioned XD, and the consensus then was that Silent Hill was the scariest game on playstation, Silent Hill 2 was massively anticipated when it was announced for PS2 and when it released it's success cemented it's status as a pillar IP for Konami.

Glad Konami remembered our boy Harry. This one just shot up to the top of my most anticipated list just below GTA 6.

Hopefully the simpler story of SH1 plays to their advantage. And maybe this time they don't bloat the original's brisk pace with tedious combat.

My first SH game all those years ago was SH2, which I still consider the best in the series... for now.
Never played SH1 actually... Played all of the other games in the series, but never the first.
Now that they Remake it, I'll certainly give it a go

I saw now that it's rather short, 3-5h campaign with 6-11h tops for completionists. Most likely Bloober will prolong that by a few hours with extra content.
This also means it won't take too long to develop, especially considering that after SH2-R they have quite an experience. 2026 release maybe?

I hope they manage to bring back SH Origins someday too - another one I enjoyed a lot on the PS2, it's actually on 2nd place after SH2 for me.

Silent Hill 2 Remake was my first Silent Hill game and possibly the scariest horror game I have ever played. I played it with headphones on late at night... Looking forward to this. 😙

I remember borrowing Silent Hill from a friend back in 1999. I was 17 at the time. I had played Resident Evil 1 & 2 and loved them to bits but holy crap I did not know what I was getting myself into when I booted up SH. F*ck me, it was scary! Very much different in vibe from the Resi games, the constant dread had me running in straight panic all game. The first time that siren rang and the game literallly turned into hell all around me... I was not prepared!

It was the talk of the school yard that year, that's for sure. Most of my mates couldn't finish it - it was too scary!

This is the one that needed the remake most. The others had been improved over time but the original had remained sat in PS1 zone completely ignored. Looking forward to replaying it after so many years.

Watch Bloober Team find a way to make it even worse than the Silent Hill 2 Demake

SH2 remake was really good, a weird case of a game not replacing the original but also not being redundant.
I really hope they can get the vibes of SH1 right, which is really hard as I feel like the dated graphics really do work in favor of the horror element.

@crackeastwood C'mon it wasn't that. As a fan who played all the games and wanted to hate it it rocked. Unless you have a PS5 Pro of course...
