Re: PS5 Pro Users Starting to Feel a Little Shortchanged After Poor or Absent Support

Shinnok789

This seems to be on the devs, and not allocating time to implement p(i)ssr in their games.
Most likely because titles were already in development before PS5 Pro, and the approximate launch date already set - the extra time needed to optimize them for the Pro not included.
Also it's poor customer handling, no apology, no timetable for a patch that brings the needed optimizations, nothing... of course people are miffed... I'm not a PS5 Pro owner, but
I'd be PSSR too in this case, given the console's cost.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Borderlands 4?

Shinnok789

Maybe I'll play it, but not at those prices, not with pay-walled story missions and not with those performance issues - it'll be some 3+ years from now when i'll cost about 10-20$ for the game + everything included, all patched and optimized.

For right now I'll buy Ghost of Yotei and Silent Hill f - they're worth a hell of a lot more.

Re: What PS5 Games Have the Best Graphics?

Shinnok789

This would have served everyone a LOT better as a poll.

Alas, here we go:

  • Horizon FW and Horizon ZD-R, hands down. There were a lot of places especially in FW when I just had to stop to admire the scenery and take a photo, to make a wallpaper out of it. Absolutely gorgeous games!
  • Uncharted 4/LL and The Last Of Us Remakes - the facial animations alone make them top tier, not to mention very good looking locales.
  • Ghost of Tsushima
  • soon to come Ghost of Yotei (not released yet but Oct 2nd is only 3 weeks away)
  • Death Stranding 2
  • Alan Wake 2
  • God Of War 2018 and Ragnarok
  • Demon's Souls Remake

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS1 at Launch?

Shinnok789

I skipped the PS1... my first console was a Sega Megadrive, after which I became a PC gamer in the early 00's.
My first PS console was the PS2 Slim, which I got SH in 2007 specifically to play God Of War 1 and 2... such an awesome take on the Greek Legends, was like a dream come true, I just had to play them!
And I've owned every PS console generation since then (I actually still have the phat PS3 80GB and the PS4 Pro alongside my OG PS5).

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on 007 First Light?

Shinnok789

Nathan "00" Drake if he was a secret agent...
After seeing the PS SoP, I'm leaning towards it ending up an "all flash, low substance" title, to paraphrase the line, just like other titles before it.
Hope I'm wrong, but... I'm gonna wait for reviews first.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Gears of War: Reloaded on PS5?

Shinnok789

Already finished the OG's campaign 2 times over the years, not worth replaying, remastered or not.
And MP is not for me.

There are other upcoming titles worth my attention a lot more than this old game.

While eagerly waiting for Ghost of Yotei on October 2nd:

  • POE 2's newest patch is next on the list this week, followed by:
  • Hell is Us on Sept. 4th
  • Silent Hill f on Sept. 25th

Oh, and Painkiller comes right after Yotei on October 9th
Strong autumn season debut!

Re: 'There's No Real Need for a PS6': Industry Veteran Weighs in on Next-Gen Debate

Shinnok789

Yeah just like there was no need for a PS5 Pro, and now it's praised all around for it's performance prowess (some devs still can't be bothered to adapt their games correctly and bug-free after ~9 months into it's lifecycle, but that's another story...)
The need exists (or rather will exist 2 years from now) from a performance POV.
Weather it will have a fair price or not though, remains to be seen.
And don't get me started on the exclusive 1st party titles portfolio, that's still a huge stain on the PS5 gen... Hopefully Sony will do better with the PS6, they certainly have tons to do to recover.

Re: Darksiders 4 May Finally Be PS5's Answer to Classic Zelda

Shinnok789

Now this is good news!
And they finally decided to move the story forward - even better!
I hope the go take a look at what made the first 2 games great (especially from the story and puzzles p.o.v), use that as a basis and improve upon it.
And stay away from the isometric style used in Genesis... those games are at their best in 3rd person.

Make it epic people! Can't wait!

Re: Fans Think They May Have Unearthed Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection's PS5, PS4 Release Date

Shinnok789

@get2sammyb All of the 2D games had some level of input reading. Just try grabbing your game-controlled opponent, or jump-kick towards it. Visible especially in higher difficulties.

Of course, we could cheat the games right back with some moves that made the game controlled opponent act in a specific way - especially in higher difficulties ^__^
Like jump-kicking backwards in MK2 Arcade with some of the characters (the 3 ninjas, Jax, Cage, Barraka, Shang Tsung), made the opponent stop and jump after you, opening itself up for all manner of attacks.
Or catching Kintaro in a loop in MK2 Arcade, with a well timed jump-kick + move a bit backwards + well-timed jump-kick etc - easiest way to beat him.
Or moving backwards in MK3 (Arcade, Sega etc) made the opponent run towards you opening itself up for a round-house kick followed by an energy ball and a sweep - the sweep made the opponent jump backwards and come running again, thus catching itself in this loop a few times.
Of moving a bit forward then jump-kick forward at the start of the round in Sega's version of MKU made the opponent stand in place 80% of the times, so you could land next to it and get a combo, or start a combo with an air punch (the air punch was introduced as a combo starter in MKU and MKT).

Re: God of War TV Series 'Honours' Norse Games, Teases Greek Saga

Shinnok789

Most likely the Greek era will be told via some flashbacks, maybe even allocate whole episode to it along the way, to detail a larger subject.
Curious to see the main cast. Most likely they'll go with some "fresher blood", none of the names that circulate around right now, like The Rock, Bautista, Vin Diesel etc - those are high caliber actors, they won't stoop to a very risky game based series that could damage their reputation. Besides, I doubt the show has the necessary funds to pay them.

Re: Two Jaw-Dropping Limited Edition Ghost of Yotei PS5 Consoles Announced

Shinnok789

That cheap-looking grey nuance in the middle of the controllers ruins the whole design. Full white background and a continuation of the brush stokes would have worked far better... Whoever decided that grey area was a fit color for the design should resign voluntarily...

Oh and the face plates are actually for a single side eh? ... They look good but, no. Full console dress-up or no deal.

Re: Best inFAMOUS Games

Shinnok789

I love the first 2 games, would be grand if Sony would revive them somehow.
Also played Second Son and First Light but they didn't have the same impact the first 2 games had... going from serious Cole to being a teenager just wasn't a good change imo.

Re: PS5's AI Slop Shovelware Has Hit a New Low

Shinnok789

Seriously though, what are the legal grounds based on which Sony can prevent those game aberrations from appearing in the PS Store ? Grounds that can't be countered by "Sony is preventing unique / original ideas", crying out "discrimination" and other such shenanigans.

Not taking any sides here, just curious.

Are there international laws that define what makes a game an actual game? An official international organization where a game dev can register their game project, and, if accepted, they can receive proof that they have the go-ahead for development, and can publish their final creation on official stores?
I'm no legal expert, but I didn't hear of any such thing. Right now anyone can make a game however they see fit... and if they're smart and cunning, they can manage to publish, and con some people into buying... Take the money, close the "studio" and move along with creating a new one, rinse and repeat.
Maybe this should be addressed.

At least does Sony have a set of strict, complete and detailed rule/guideline set in place by which to judge which game can be allowed on the PS store, and the "game" mentioned here doesn't fit the bill?
'Cause if they do, then someone at Sony is sleeping on the job.
And if they don't (have said rules/guidelines) then they should add and properly enforce them...

Re: Talking Point: Is It Officially Game Over for PSVR2?

Shinnok789

it was clear from quite a while ago, due to lackluster portfolio, no clear roadmap, general problems in 1st party games (too much emphasis on GAAS development) leading to whole teams being disbanded or reset to start new projects in the middle of their dev cycle etc.

Sony made a really bad move chasing unicorns, spanning 2-3 years of the PS5's life, combined with the pandemic problems...
Now they're paying up for it, and they'll continue to do so for a good while longer, until new 1st party games can be released, valid for VR too...
Throwing everything they had into what ended up to be 2-3 years of lost investments, is not gonna be easy to recover. Money they will regain, but "lost time" doesn't have an quick&easy fix.
1st party studios are working to recover, but the same time interval has to pass until they're finally able to get the new titles out. And this is exactly where we find ourselves now, quite obvious from the drought of new 1st party releases, and Sony's own teams hard at work expecting to release new titles by 2026 or beyond...

I'd say this huge "stain" won't wash until PS6 release, until those 2-3 years that were lost can be recouped... we'll see.

Re: PS5's Ghost of Yotei Features Some Kind of 'Foraging' System, Sucker Punch Confirms

Shinnok789

Don't tell me we'll have to gather plants and skins to refill our health and craft some gear... we already have those in Horizon.
I don't mind foraging, but we need some fresh ideas about what we can use said items for, they should come up with something new if they plan to include it...
Like gathering diverse tea plants to make various tea blends to use in special ceremonies that you can offer (in limited numbers) to specific NPC's. During which you get to know and befriend said NPC's. As a reward, depending on the ceremony type and tea blend used, they can give you unique side-quests tied to them, or discounts, secret item locations, etc. Doesn't necessarily have to be historically accurate, if it's fresh and entertaining, it will be appreciated.

Re: The Next Xbox Is a PC, So What Does That Mean for PS6?

Shinnok789

Yep, by making Windows it's primary console OS, most of Sony's PS exclusives will be playable on "Xbox". All nice and curved that ball, eh? Nicely thrown!
Imo MS will transform it's low end consoles (Series S type) into handhelds.
They will also be releasing a new desktop high end console it seems, all packed with upscaling tech (RDNA4 maybe). I thought they'd be giving up on classic desktop consoles, and concentrate on gamepads, cloud and handhelds... Unexpected.
Good to have competition though.

Re: The Witcher 4 Being Built for PS5 First and Foremost, Will Target 60fps

Shinnok789

Don't get your hopes up with 60FPS on the OG PS5... This will be a 2026-2027 game, there's only so much they can pull out of 6-7 years old hardware.
Maybe if they cut a lot from the game - but at that point it will look like one from 5 years ago now, or even older... not exactly the "intended experience". And even then it may not be a constant 60... Maybe we can hope for a min 40fps? Dunno... UE5 is "merciless" when it comes to hardware req, it will certainly take some wizardry.

I guess for the PS5 Pro they'll be able to pull 60fps with some RT, closer to what was shown in the tech demo, depending on what they can achieve with PSSR (hopefully it will be bug free)... we'll see.

Re: This Is How Gears of War Reloaded Looks and Plays on PS5 Pro

Shinnok789

I don't see the appeal... it's just a remaster. The gameplay is old, giving it a new coat of paint is not gonna improve it as much as desired.

Probably gonna play the campaign on Game Pass on PC at some point, for a bit of nostalgia's sake, but that's about it. Wouldn't pay full price for it no matter the platform.
