Finally, finally Warner Bros has decided to “finish it” and partner with retro game collection specialists Digital Eclipse to bring the original Mortal Kombat games to PS5 and PS4.
Much like with Atari 50, Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection is more than just a compilation of retro fighting games: it’s a digital documentary, featuring behind-the-scenes footage and as many versions of the classics as the team could get their hands on.
That includes arcade versions of the likes of Mortal Kombat through Mortal Kombat 4, as well as handheld ports and everything in between. Many of the games will be playable with rollback netcode.

- Mortal Kombat 3 – 1995: Arcade, SNES, Genesis

Wot, no Amiga version?
I usually try to avoid non-remastered retro as I like to keep my rose tinted glasses, but this may be 1 retro collection I just cant resist, particularly with UMK3 included.
This looks EPIC, ngl.
We just need MK Trilogy and PS MK4 / Dreamcast MK Gold
Kinda sucks Armageddon isn’t on there.. it had tons of fighters.. more than any other.. back when games CAME with content packed in instead of having to buy individual fighters.. it’s so cringe to me how scummy they’ve become.. MK 1 was garbage and I regret my preorder
I hope this time it releases physically since the beginning. The way retro collections should always be.
What? Also my favourite handheld ports? I mean what is next, the Master System versions? Anyway, I am really looking forward to the game. By the way it is not exclusive, I saw it also on Steam.
Goodbye glitchy Mortal Kombat Trilogy on PS1!
Only the game boy version of Deadly Alliance? That's a bummer. Still awesome though. Hopefully we get a 3D collection soon as well.
Why not put trilogy in so it can be a more complete collection? Also Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance for GBA, why? that's pretty random. It would have made more sense to be in a collection of the PS2 Mortal Kombat games with it's big brother.
Interesting to see this arrive just a couple of weeks after I realised a Digital Eclipse Williams collection ala Atari 50 would be phenomenal but wasn't sure if it would even be possible.
A shame there's no proper version of Deadly Alliance, though, but I suspect including the PS2 would be far too much content for what is, ostensibly, a collection of arcade games.
We need a DLC that includes Mortal Kombat Trilogy and Mortal Kombat Gold.
@WolfyTn Armageddon only has that because they copied and pasted 90% of the roster from deadly alliance and deception and they have reused styles
Absolutely incredible news! I'll be picking up a physical edition on Day One.
I did like the earlier MK game way more than I do with these later games. I might get this, but I’m fine with the other fighting games I have.
Only GBA games for mortal Kombat? They could have at least ported over the ps1 games, Dreamcast, n64 versions, very poor indeed 😕
They are doing great work for game preservation. Hope they continue to do it with other iconic franchises.
So wait deadly alliance only for GBA? O.o?!?
Digital Eclipse screwed SF 30th Anniversary Collection with crappy rollback. So i'm not gonna touch this Kollection until i see the review.
I hope any potential DLC gets trophies, because for some silly reason Atari 50's DLC never did. That being said, the 3D games are probably worth an entire sequel. Anyone excited for Shaolin Monks or Deadly Alliance will probably still have to wait years (if it even happens)
Super excited for this though!
UMK3 netcode with rollback netcode
Almost makes me want to shed a tear of joy lol
@WolfyTn Armageddon may be the worst game in the series besides Advance, lol.
We just need the Tekken games collection now.
Day one. I loved this series until it went full WB and begged for money every screen.
What I want is MK2 Remix (Mugen), but that won't happen. 2 and IX ftw.
Now if they can only FINALLY get a Midway/Atari Games classic collection cooking!! Long OVERDUE!!
Day one physical, what a treat
This was probably the most exciting announcement for me as I love how they presented that Atari collection, so can only imagine what treasures they have in store for is with this. Not to mention the including all the versions of the games, something that Capcom sadly misses in theirs
Dream package, yeah, right... glorified "resurrection of corpses" is more adequate.
A collection of already released games and materials, all dusted up, with some online code on the side, and sold as new, mainly to boost sales for their new fighting stick.
I love those games, especially the arcade versions. But releasing them with no improvements, at least to offer some remastered graphics options, it's just another quick buck maneuver... not for me.
Digital Eclipse's involvement has me excited for this — but, would be more excited if it was more thorough. Seconding (Thirding? Eleventhing?) the abovementioned plea to please include MK Trilogy and MK Gold!
@antonvaltaz I'm still in therapy from having played MK2 on the SNES before buying it on the Amiga thinking 'this'll be similar' .
I owned or played all of those other than the two GBA ones listed at the end, so there's a lot of nostalgia here for me. Still, I've emulated the hell out of all of these so I'm not sure I would be that interested.
What I really want is that MK1-3 HD remake that was oft rumored many years ago.
I just want MK chess back!
