God of War

With a new State of Play livestream confirmed for Wednesday, 4th June, speculation over whether the heavily rumoured new God of War game set in Greece will appear has kicked into gear.

Though its presence in the show isn't mentioned, both Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming and the Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb seem to agree we're looking at a 2.5D Metroidvania game rather than a big 3D outing. Henderson states that the title "seems to be much smaller in scale than what I initially thought". As a Metroidvania, it will likely be comparable to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

A new God of War game set in Ancient Greece has been rumoured for some time now, and is speculated to release later this year. With a State of Play livestream set for tomorrow, it's likely the official reveal is only a day away now. For more information on When Is PlayStation's State of Play for June 2025, click the link.

Officially, the State of Play for 4th June will run for just over 40 minutes and contain "news and updates on must-play games coming to PS5. The show highlights a selection of great games from creators across the globe." There's no word yet on whether the God of War title is being developed in-house at Santa Monica Studio or is coming from a third party.
