And it's not getting a sequel which would have been a much better use of the time then all these cancelled projects of late

Genuinely Days Gone again over those other two games mentioned all day long. Honestly and there's nothing wrong with this. Horde mode and horde in game alone is far better fun than what many other games will have to offer. Will always adore Days Gone and proud to say so regardless of whatever releases before it or after, that's irrelevant

Well there's a fantastic all new game that just came out and a needed PS3 era remaster that's also fantastic! for remasters of PS4 games just copy/paste the old review, it's the exact same game.

I can’t even find the upgrade version on the store. I can download the PS4 version, pay £45 for the remastered version, but nothing else.

@Dampsponge same reason Witcher 3 remastered got a review everywhere else. Yes so many still enjoy DG and it's remaster. Same reason watching paint dry FallOut4 remaster got a review

@FinneasGH If you only own the first game from PS Plus, you won’t be able to get the upgrade. If you did buy it outright, it should come up for you instead of the $50 stand alone listing.

It already feels abit like it's been sent out to fail.

So much hypocrisy about remasters it's genuinely hilarious. Although this ratio of remasters in comparison to actual PS 1st party sequels or even more importantly brand new PS 1st party IP is something ain't got a leg to stand on this gen

@somnambulance Well considering that the Days Gone Remaster IS a £10 patch, I'd say that it makes sense that it looks like that compared to a £50 Remake of Oblivion

@MrPeanutbutterz You genuinely mustn't have played many games then if you believe that. I'd personally give Days gone like an 8/10 but could totally understand if someone gave it a 6 or maybe even a 5/10. But to say it's one of the worst is crazy

Seems to be a particularly strong hate-boner for Days Gone. A little bit of research and one can see what all the improvements and changes are. 😇

@nomither6 it's certainly up there so far, cant argue with that much. Gen ain't over yet though with at least a few years left so who knows what's up their sleeves. It's a weird one when genuinely enjoyed my PS5 so much. Just think it could have been a far better gen so far without the gaas desicions and cancellations, money put elsewhere kinda thing instead

@James_42 Agreed. That's a strange sentiment. The zombie hordes alone make this an incredibly unique experience. There's no other game quite like it. It's also a solid production with super tight gameplay.

@Weebleman Haters will be haters. Yeah, this game is one of the most solid of its genre. I would definitely give it another go with this new remaster.

@James_42 According to my profile on PS5, I've played 708 games, and that's obviously just across PS4/PS5...

The pacing is so bad it's broken, the writing would embarrass a creative writing class in primary school, the mechanics are lifted wholesale from older, better games.

@TheShrunkenHeadsman Exactly! I wouldn't say it's one of my favourite games or anything but the gane is very very fun and there were some special moments in the game, however few and far between they may have been.

I'd say it's easily one par with Spiderman PS4 in terms of story and gameplay. The only aspect Days Gone lacks in is that it doesn't have the extreme polish most other PS exclusives have. It is admittedly a bit rough around the edges and so I believe this remaster could do wonders for the game as most of my complaints are small issues.

@MrPeanutbutterz All of those things are true to an extent for Spiderman PS4 (except the writing being bad. I think the writing is equally just fine in Spiderman and Days Gone)

@James_42 Well I'm not a huge Spider-Man fan either. That said, the writing in Days Gone is genuinely incompetent. Deacon is one of the worst characters ever written in any form of fiction.

@MrPeanutbutterz Wait... "the mechanics are lifted wholesale from older, better games"? Naughty Dog has been using those mechanics since the first Uncharted game way back in like '07. They practically invented those mechanics. The Last of Us was like 2012 or 2013. That's all Naughty Dog.

Brewdog IPA and Days Gone remastered going down a treat so far. Perfect combo after a stressfull day of TIG welding, even if half asleep rn

A remaster after a couple generations is appreciated. This glorified patching Sony now does is not. For all its faults, the Xbox has the best backwards compatibility you can find, and it's reassuring to hear how they've dedicated themselves to it.

Great game I enjoyed the hordes. I never understood the hate for this game. Was old fashion good fun. Hope it does well. Keep up the good work.

@Addy187 I had the PS Plus version downloaded since I sold my disc version. Rebought the disc version a while back because of the incoming PS5 remaster. Uninstalled the PS Plus version, reinstalled the disc version. Put disc in console. £10 upgrade option appeared today. Purchased upgrade. Downloaded it and have played for a couple of hours.

Pointless. Looks exactly the same. Hordes mode is the only difference I can see. Feel ripped off and I only paid 10!

Bend creates a whole new Horde mode and adds graphical and technical improvements to the game and only asks $10 to upgrade. Of course the graphical improvements aren’t going to be as large as a game that’s from the PS360 era. Thats why this only costs $10 and Oblivion costs $50. But people still worked on it. They earn salaries. Everyone just wants everything for free nowadays. And if you don’t think it’s worth it, then don’t buy it. There are people who do like the game, and there are also people who haven’t played the game yet

@Logonogo I never claimed otherwise. That said, "the writing in Days Gone is garbage" isn't exactly an outlier in terms of subjective opinion. It's the main criticism levied against the game.

You're aware that Days Gone has nothing to do with Naughty Dog, right? (it was developed by Bend).

@LogicStrikesAgain generally speaking Bethesda's open worlds are up there with the best but are also bug ridden messes. Oblivion,skyrim and fallout 3 are superb and new Vegas is awesome. Just a shame they are just lacking some tlc.

I loved Oblivion back in the day truly but lets be honest Bethesdas games are some of the most drab boring games going. Witcher 3 did it so much better. But if I’m choosing it’s Days gone every time for me. Once I’m done with Shadows I’ll be going for my second DG plat

@MrPeanutbutterz My bad. You are correct, sir! I guess they stole the hell out of those mechanics, then. Still... not a bad job of it. I thought the game mechanics were pretty damned good and very much in align with The Last of Us and The Last of Us 2. Also, unlike those games, Days Gone is more of a true "open world" with some pretty large areas to run (or motorcycle) around in. To maintain that type of gameplay with an open world is no easy feat, especially considering they did it on PS4 (and it played great on the Pro). And those horde hunts were INTENSE. I about pissed myself the first few times I went up against a couple hundred of those things bearing down on me.

@TheShrunkenHeadsman Lol all good. I genuinely felt myself thinking that it was a lovechild of The Last of Us and Far Cry, and then found myself thinking that I'd rather be playing either of them.

I abandoned it (twice - once on PS4 Pro, and once on PS5) around the right hour mark, which was apparently near the end of the intro... whut, talk about poor pacing. Never got to see the hordes properly as a result.

And the bike... the most fuel inefficient contraption to ever exist, but it conveniently existed in a post-apocalypse where no one else thought to pilfer the red cans of fuel that were everywhere. It felt too videogame-y and pulled me out of the world.

Amazing to see how two people can have such a contrasting experience of the same thing lol.

@dschons I appreciate the information. However, I've been using my Steam Deck OLED to force any and every game to use gyro on my PS5 Pro. Depending on the game, it can work pretty well 😏

Actually, I just went back and played the PS4 version of Days Gone a few weeks ago to finish up the last few trophies I was missing for the platinum. I'll probably just transfer my save over to the PS5 version for another platinum since I'm not in the mood to play the game again anytime soon.

This is going to be a really important time for the history of this game, because not it gets a proper review period not plagued by bugs . The first game's review copy was given out too early and it hurt the game because the day-one patch fixed a ton of issues reviewers had

Pre-ordered even though I own the PS4 version on disc. Played a bit today and there are some noticable differences in visuals and overall framerate etc. But beyond that its identical to the original, though the new horde mode looks like fun. Having seen what a re-mastered game looks like with Oblivion (I bought that on PC) it does feel like they cheaped out here.

Really wish they'd put the effort into a sequel rather than this. It was the most refreshing take on the zombie genre I'd played for quite a while. Maybe their next game should be a zombie cross over with Ghost of Yotei - The Thousand Petal'd Corpse or something...

@Jrs1 don’t need a pro. Minimal difference. Stick to ps4 version and it will stop the unnecessary remasters and hopefully get them to remaster the ones we want! I feel out of pocket for 10 pounds! That’s how negligible it is.

I very much enjoyed my time with Days Gone. Sadly never finished it because I hit the horde cave glitch close to the end of the game. Best game ever? No. A game that deserves a bit more respect? I think so.

That all being said. I have no interest of going back to it for the remaster. If you never played it before, I would recommend you'd check it out.

Who cares. This cash grab isn't worth reviewing entirely all over again. It's the exact same game. It was an OK tlou2 asset flip in its time with garbage characters and writing. The hordes were cool, but the open world was extremely formulaic.

The "upgrades" are so minor they are barely noticeable aside from night being darker. Just review the horde mode thing they added and call it a day. I really wish Sony and Co would stop these double dip re-releases of games that didn't need it. It's getting pretty sad to watch given the trajectory Sony took this generation as it enters its twilight.

I bet Sony will end up allowing PS Plus copies to get the $10 upgrade like SE eventually did with Final Fantasy VII Remake. Expecting sales, particularly with Oblivion and Clair Obscur the same week, aren’t gonna be great and they’re still going to need to recoup costs.

The game turned out to be a pretty great solid open world game.

A little rushed as you can definitely see the potential of where they was going with it.

I'd of loved for them to give a sequel ago.

It's great the 10 upgrade.

But the problem is for me, I bought the physical special collectors edition when it first launched.

I got the game digitally by ps plus.

I've now upgraded to the ps5 pro,

So PlayStation decide not to allow the ps plus version to count towards the upgrade price.

Yet they sell a premium console with no disc drive and now I'm not eligible for the upgrade.

It's a bit of a kick in the teeth really and I'm not willing to spend 45, to buy a ps5 upgrade of a ps4 game.

No matter how much I enjoyed the original.

I'll buy in a sale.

But they truly did this to themselves really.

I think they should allow disc users the upgrade but maybe link it to your own ps account

Remaster looks great, plays exactly like PS4 version which is a shame - I love Days Gone, but can agree that it felt unpolished. A remaster with these graphics and just a tiny bit more stuff to do in the open world would be amazing; honestly just a few more wildlife types, a few more enemy types, couple of new weather effects is all it needed.

So it's a £10 resolution update on a not-quite-finished game. Still having fun, but it's a missed opportunity by Sony to correct their mistake the first time around and give it that first-party polish.

@zhoont It's a work of entertainment, I don't need to like it, it ain't that deep.

I love Days Gone. Have since Day 1. I've completed it several times and enjoy it more than the Last of Us series (though I like them, too), not because I think it's a better written game, but because it's more fun as an action-oriented video game, and I like my games to be fun. This "cash grab" (I spent more on my McDonald's breakfast this morning, but whatever) is a welcome one for me and I've been loving it with the Dualsense upgrades, etc.

If you don't like it, don't buy it, but don't be daft, it DOES have a fan base. It just had a "late to the party" one and we're still hoping for a sequel. If playing this helps show interest in that, all the better.

Fml I hate game breaking bugs.

After I rescued the lady on top of the tower my mission log is empty but says „go back to tucker“, I did but nothing happens. No button prompts no cutscenes or anything. She just stands up from her bench and thats it.

I have tried EVERYTHING you could think of to trigger something like going to sleep, save and restart, drove hours with my bike, let some freakers kill me and so on.

This was my short and honest days gone remastered review because I have to wait for a patch that will maybe released, maybe not 🤷‍♂️

Sony QA is a joke since they remastered games for PS5, horizon crashed like 300 times every 20 minutes and days gone is full, FULL of bugs. Wth sony.
