Not sure it really needs a remaster. It was already in HD and I don't remember it particularly struggling. If we start asking for remasters for the sake of it, where does it end? Does every single game need a new remaster every generation?
I got a PC in early 2020 and put over a 1000 hours into a few 'endless' games like Planet Coaster, Cities: Skylines, Kerbal Space Program, Football Manager and Euro Truck, plus got a Series X on launch, so my numbers way way down for Playstation.
26 games played.
175 days played.
675 hours in total (3 of which were online).

I think my most crazy year was 2018. Where I'd played something disgusting like 1400 hours of FIFA, 400 hours of Red Dead (which had only been out 2 months) and 200 hours of No Man's Sky.
Just going off their track record, I'm still expecting this to be 2022. Would be a dream scenario if we actually got this and PSVR2 at the end of next year. I know people want everything right now, but we have to face the fact we're only going to get 1 or 2 games from any series in an entire gen from now on. I'd rather they took their time rather than get something rushed out and be stuck with it for years.
I've had PSVR for almost 3 years and enjoyed it, but recently started playing PC racing games and sims in VR and it's taken it to a whole new level for me. Driving is perfect for VR as your character is always fixed in place so you don't get that weird immersion breaking/motion sickness inducing weirdness.
I will be double dipping on this. Got a Series X and no PS5, so will be buying it on Xbox for now, but definitely want it on Playstation in the future to try PSVR.
I loved my PSVR so much, and recently got an Oculus Quest 2, mainly to play some racing games. It's almost perfect for VR as you're sat down the whole time and makes me sad stuff like Project Cars 2 never supported PSVR. Hope PSVR2 is more widely supported.
I made a decision just over ten years ago to stop buying games anywhere near release. Wait a year or two, you get a better game for a fraction of the price. Since then, the only games I’ve bought day 1 are Skyrim, GTA V and Red Dead 2.
I have a backlog of almost 500 games. I don’t see it as a chore, something to get through. I’m okay knowing some will never get played, but love that I will always have something good to play that’s different to whatever I’ve just finished.
I always expected it to take up to a year. It's the same time frame as GTA V was last gen. Comes out on PS3, just as PS4 is launching, but takes a year to get upgraded.
Strange to me how so many people on forums and sites like this bought it when we knew this would happen. I know 90% of the game buying public don't read gaming sites or forums so wouldn't know, but we should know better.
In two years time, there will a PS5/XSX GOTY version all patched up that will be amazing. Why spoil a game like this by trying to play it on hardware that was obviously going to struggle?
I honestly don’t know why people aren’t waiting. Wait for the next gen version and wait for that to go through a few patches. Don’t ruin a great game for yourself by playing it how. We should have learned this from Witcher 3.
There's some weird revisionist history going on with Dragon Age 3. It reviewed REALLY well, yet a lot of people talk about it now like it was meh and the franchise has lost it's way. So weird. Personally I can't wait for more Dragon Age.
Very expected. You always get these big games that saddle a generation shift, where it comes out on current gen but is really, REALLY meant to be next-gen. I expect Elder Scrolls IV to be in this situation next-gen, where you really need the NEXT systems to play it properly.
Including PS4 copies with the PS5 is a great move. Hopefully they include cross save so we can pick and choose if we want to play in VR or with better graphics.
I just hope it gets used. We’ve had great controller features before like rumble triggers on Xbox and HD rumble in Switch that died off because third parties don’t bother doing the extra work for it.
Sales figures are kind of irrelevant when every console sells out for launch, but it’s impressive that in this crazy year they made more consoles for launch ran they, or anyone else has managed to make before.
Gran Turismo 3, Final Fantasy X, Devil May Cry, Ico, Grand Theft Auto III, Ace Combat 4, Jak and Daxter, Silent Hill 2, SSX Tricky, Metal Gear Solid 2.
Utterly amazing line up by the end of the PS2's first year.
I am years behind on Assassins Creed. I was so excited about the first game and found it to be a massive disappointment, so I never really looked at any of the sequels, until Assassins Creed III of all things came out, and for some reason I was really interested in the TV commercial footage of it.
So I went back to catch up, but the problem was I've never really wanted to play more than 1 a year and get series fatigue. I finally made it to Black Flag last Christmas, but decided to skip over Unity and Syndicate and just started Origins. Wow! This is the game I imagined the first one being. For the first time ever, I feel like it can be a proper stealth game.
If we think of Valhalla as this gen's black flag, I hope we don't get the sort of flawed gems that are Unity and Syndicate that we got last time before the 'real' next gen games came with Origins and Odyssey.
I’m torn now. I didn’t think I cared about 120 FPS. I thought 60 with better image quality was the route for me, but now having played in 120 FPS its hard to go back.
Great news. Yes, not many people will be able to take advantage of it immediately but it needs to be there ready for them when they buy new sets that can. Makes things like screen tearing a thing of the past.
I've just started Assassins Creed Origins. I didn't think I was someone that cared about frame rates, as long as they hit a solid 30. However playing Halo 4 at 120 FPS has now made 30 FPS look quite bad.
@hulkie A lot of people will probably pick up the PS4 disc for the free upgrade, but will wait for the next-gen upgrade to play. That could be a year away, so waiting and picking up a cheap PS4 disc makes sense.
Shame it will remain so inaccessible and niche due to the difficulty. Don’t see why an easier difficult could not be implemented. The hardcore fans that hate the idea don’t need to play it.
I’ve gone for a Series X. I never had an Xbox One so now I can play through the back catalog and pick up a PS5 in a couple of years. So this weekend I’ve been playing crazy amounts of Forza Horizon games. It’s the one series I always looked over at and felt very jealous I could not play, and they are so worth the wait.
It makes sense they’d have shifted focus since the market for home consoles is so tiny in Japan now. They sold 23 million PS2 there but only 9 million PS4 so far. It’s why we’ll. it likely see anything surpass the PS2 sales as one of its big 3 markets is pretty much gone.
Finishing up some old games. Dead Rising 2 + Case West, and Job Simulator. Getting a Series X on Tuesday, and since I never owned an Xbox One I’m so excited to play through the Forza Horizon games.
Is it right you can’t store PS5 games on an external drive? On Xbox you can store games on there but not ply them. It makes a good solution to move stuff on there when you’re done, and move it back if you want to play. Beats redownloading. Even as time goes on and we see 2TB machines, it’s still nowhere near enough. Not sure we’ll see 6TB+ SSDs built in this gen.
Sounds interesting for sure. Less focus on gadgets was a bit of a disappointment personally, but improved stealth is a big thumbs up.
Spider-Man was one of the few games I completed 100%. When it came to the DLC I found myself sticking to just the main story as I was a bit fed up of the side-stuff by then. Not sure if I want to go through it with this. I guess I'd want to do a bit, to level up the perks and such and unlock things, but still feel a bit of dread at the thought of doing all those crime ones again.
I love things like this. It's just a nice little thing to do on something like Steam or even the 3DS and see which games you've put the most time into.
I remember a couple of years back they did that video that showed you your top 3 games played, so it was clear it was being tracked. I think my top 3 were FIFA 18 with around 1500 hours, then NMS with 450 hours, then Red Dead 2 with 2 hours (but it had only been out 2 months at that point).
Even ignoring the Covid situation, not sure why people like to go spend all night standing outside a shop. Order online, and at least here in the UK there's a chance you get the thing a day early too considering how quick it is to ship things to the vast majority of the country.
A lot of stuff coming out lately throws a bit of doubt over Sony’s attempts at backwards compatibility. In fairness to them it’s their first time doing this other than actually putting the hardware from old consoles in newer ones but they have a long way to go to catch up to Microsoft in this regard.
It’s not about “Who the heck wants to play Syndicate in 2020”, but more about how robust the PS5 BC is. I think it’s more on Sony. It came out yesterday that to use PSVR you need to be using the PS4 versions of NMS or Hitman 3 via BC. The PS5 versions cant support PSVR. In fairness to Sony they are really just a starting out with BC if you consider their previous attempts were just including old hardware in new machines, but MS are so far ahead in this aspect.
@Richnj It’s going to be more common as dev cycles take longer. It’s not too dissimilar to Bethesda announcing Elder Scrolls VI. Starfield will be their focus for years, then a solid 5 years on ESVI after that’s done will probably have it coming out near the NEXT generation and probably being held back by PS5 and XSX.
@thefourfoldroot They can’t say anything right now. MS has not bought Bethesda yet, they can’t start making public statements about their plans until the sale is final.
Got one a year in, and it was perfect timing. I jumped in around 2018 and it was already pretty good then, but what they've done over the last two years is just incredible.
