You don't have to tell me. Saw this one website do an article on the top confirmed and rumoured PS5 games (that didn't feature a single confirmed game, and was in fact based purely on wishes and fairytales). Oh wait...
Red Dead 2 and LOVING it. The opening is very different to the first game and I don’t think is as good in terms of setting up the narrative, but it looks amazing and the world feels so alive. Can’t wait to get back to it this evening while sipping on some Kentucky bourbon.
Got home from a halloween party, took about an hour to install, and then I went to bed. Didn't want my first experience of this masterpiece to be when I was slightly inebriated AND tired.
I suppose I “pre-ordered” but when it comes to Amazon it’s not really what most people would consider a pre-order. My first day 1 game that’s not FIFA since Xenoblade Chronicles X on Wii U, 3 years ago.
Will play it when I can. Out for a Halloween party tonight, day out at football tomorrow, some Wild West action on Sunday.
I can't believe that next-gen will probably be here before the next AC game and they've still not done Japan yet. So much potential there. Maybe it will be cross-gen and match the quality of Black Flag.
I didn't like any of the LBP games but I'm very excited for Dreams. I just wish they'd tell us when it's coming... it was announced alongside the PS4 but it's going to end up as part of the final wave of games before PS5.
This isn't really the point of the article, but for me the aesthetic of Astro Bot is a huge downside. It's like they tried to come up with the most generic look characters they could.
Absolutely love DriveClub and I'm gutted Evolution are gone. I was playing the original Motorstorm over the weekend and it's still a fantastic experience.
Got to admit I'm quite jealous of Xbox owners and Forza Horizon. 3 and 4 are top of my wish list for one I get one of those consoles.
It's the little things that make it so fun. The commentators mentioning a player is doing something off-camera... and you being able to look across at it. Watching a player walking down the tunnel, then being able to look down and see him walk out.
I think the hospitality box view is great, but maybe behind the goals, a 360 camera would be better. The lounge setting with the window doesn't really look like it fits with that view.
Obviously the resolution is a big drawback, but it's kind of weird as I think it's not entirely down to the PSVR headset. You can have an optional TV screen above you that's displaying the regular TV view, and that is much, much clearer.
You're sat in a virtual lounge sort of thing, with a huge opening in the wall in front of you that looks out over the pitch. It works great for the 'hospitality box' view, but feels very odd for the behind the goal views. You can't really look around you or behind you like you were able to do for the Champions League final last year. You also miss out on all the pre-game/half time punditry, but it would be so easy for them to include it on the virtual screen I mentioned above.
It's very easy to switch between the 3 views during the game. Switched to behind the goal for a corner, and it was very obvious Suarez had hit the side netting when the commentators were wondering why it had been ruled out. There was another moment where he got tackled, and they were talking about him beating himself up out of the shot, and it was cool to be able to see everything and look down on him doing just that.
Poor for me, although I admit it's a very personal opinion. I feel like an E3 briefing like that should all be about new announcements. People can go watch game demonstrations at any time, but with these events you have everyone watching and need the 'wow' moments. I keep saying it doesn't matter that they told us this would be all we got. If you're looking forward to a game, and the developer tells you a month before it's release that it's not very good, you can still be disappointed when it comes out and you see for yourself it's not very good.
I also think Death Stranding is way too early for something like this. Understandably too. Kojima had to build up a new studio, they had no engine, no assets, nothing at all. It takes established developers who already have those things years to make a game.
I feel like we saw a lot of games this E3 that are either next-gen, or will end up like those 2013 PS3/360 games that were compromised so much on the hardware and ended up getting next-gen ports pretty soon that did them justice.
I thought it was an awful E3. Them telling us they had nothing new beforehand does not excuse them from having nothing new. They didn’t really announce anything major last year either.
I’ve slammed Nintendo in the past for basing their E3 entirely around already announced games so now it’s Sony’s turn. Yes, what they showed looked great, but in the MS conference there were so many exciting reveals, and here there were none. The trailers for the remedy game and Nioh 2 were both very poor.
I'm pretty much just expecting those 4 games but would still be incredibly disappointed, and not down to my own hyped up expectations either.
I always judge an E3 by new announcements for games. By the extra games added to my wish list. Nintendo went through this period of just using E3 to show us MORE of things we'd already been seeing for a year or two already and it just wasn't exciting. I pretty much know I'm buying all 4 of these games, so all these deep dives are going to do is spoil their content slightly. Sony already went through E3 2017 with so few actual new announcements, two years in a row is really going to put a dampener on things.
Building the show around these 4 are fine, but they should throw little things in there. PSVR update for No Man's Sky coming soon. How about a smaller standalone for God of War along the lines if Infamous: First Light or Uncharted: Lost Legacy? A release date for Dreams?
I was convinced this was No Man's Sky getting VR, so this was a pleasant surprise! I mean, I still can't wait for NMS VR, but I'm sure it's coming so wouldn't have really been an announcement... more a confirmation.
I know the developer has pedigree, but the game looks like something from 10 years ago if not further. If anything, the vibes I'm getting are Deadly Premonition.
Oh hell yes. A new Splinter Cell is up there with Elder Scrolls VI and GTA VI as dream announcements, and was always far more likely than the other two.
Even though Conviction and Blacklist were very different to the original games, they were still excellent.

Sometimes I forget just how amazing the line-up of exclusives is. These are not just big sellers, but fantastic, critically acclaimed games.
Re: Talking Point: Is Astro Bot the Mascot of the PS4 Era?
Game consoles don't need mascots.

Re: Feature: Watching the World Cup with PSVR Feels Like a New Frontier for Sports
I'm sure they could increase the resolution. I know the PSVR is not that high res, but the picture on the screen above you is much clearer.
