Re: The Last of Us 2 Leak Leaves Director 'Heartbroken'

MS7000

@Zeke68 "Noone wants an echochamber (as far as I know) but do we really want a gaming site to be a breedingground for hate against specific industry profiles ?"

Agreed. But that's the thing; I don't think most, if not all of these comments are being hateful. I think they are saying what they say because ultimately, they do care about what they think is best whether that be for Sony, Naughty Dog, or even just the people who would of/will be playing the game when all is said and done. People will always have their misgivings with certain individuals and groups much to everyone's chagrin, but ultimately, I think every wants the same thing; which is a great game. The disagreement so far appears to primarily be based on the spoilers, whether the game is actually going to be great.

"I'm just one of all who is tired of the haters who spam allover these gaming sites when we should be discussing game and news regarding to them, not workcondition we never ever get to know anything concrete about."

I can get that. People who are clearly here for the intention of doing little more than burning everything don't offer anything to the discussion. It is also ultimately pointless to speculate about things we may not know the truth about, but it doesn't make it any less fun to speculate of course.

"My point is, IF it's true it's something ND/Sony need to set straight asap, but also, IF it's true, why isn't hundreds of employees shouting it from the rooftops at this point?"

Probably because they are still in a better position begrudgingly working in terrible conditions (assuming the rumours are true, they may very well not be) than they would be if they were blacklisted in the industry by such a prolific company as Naughty Dog where they wouldn't be able to work in the industry again. Some people will go through a lot for the sake of dreams. Now obviously Naughty Dog wouldn't be able to do much to all the employees if they all rebelled at once, but realistically it is unlikely that everyone rebelling would ever happen, I should point out that again it is all speculation on my part. With any luck, I will be very wrong in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks for the reply though. =)

Re: The Last of Us 2 Leak Leaves Director 'Heartbroken'

MS7000

Okay, I normally stay out of articles like this one, but I gonna dare to be stupid for once.

I cannot comment on the leak itself as I have not seen the contents, nor do I care to because whilst I found the TLOU 1 somewhat enjoyable, the ending really soured my opinion of the story and I am not interested enough in a sequel. I do personally think however that it is impossible to know the full story without playing the game, but at the same time, you don't necessarily need to eat the whole dinner to know the dinner is horrible. People have to choose whether what they have learned will put them off or not, or if they are willing to stick with it in the hopes it gets better.

Regarding the morality of whether it is right or wrong for the leaker to do what they did, I have no strong opinion; maybe disgruntled worker (if that is who leaked the game?) was disgruntled because Naughty Dog was indeed being naughty and mistreating employees. Maybe disgruntled worker was wrong because it was not fair to the other employees who may/may not have suffered who wanted the unveiling of the work to be in the planned manner they chose rather than a possible misinterpretation. It is impossible for me to know the truth. All I, or anyone else can do, is draw our own conclusions based on what we find out.

Now with that all being said, why is there so many comments calling others fanboys, morons, lowlifes, saying that "because you hold x opinion, y is clearly true"? It is fine to not see eye-to-eye on something but you don't need to insult everyone in doing so. Not to mention people saying they should or should not comment here. This is an article on a website that anyone can access, not some echo chamber; if we can't have different opinions then why bother trying to do anything, clearly we should just accept everything without question. No need for conversation, we already know what everyone else is going to think... how boring that would be.

Wow, I sound really preachy. Apologies if this upsets anyone, but I do stand by what I said.

Re: Ex-Guerrilla Producer Rips Butthurt PlayStation Fans Over Horizon PC Port

MS7000

@The_FastLife To be fair to Sony, Yakuza 0 and Death Stranding are both produced by third-parties (Sega and Kojima Producitons respectively). Yakuza has appeared on Wii U of all places before and Death Stranding was originally confirmed to be coming to PC a long time ago anyway (the only caveat is the engine belongs to Guerrilla Games who is first party). I don't begrudge third parties as much since they have to do what they have to do.

Horizon Zero Dawn on the other hand which is first party...

Re: Ex-Guerrilla Producer Rips Butthurt PlayStation Fans Over Horizon PC Port

MS7000

Way to miss the point. Most people don't necessarily care that other people are getting to play the game. People care that consoles are essentially losing what makes them unique; Exclusives. I have seen many people harping on that Sony has done so well this generation due to one thing. Which is? Because, they, have, games! Exclusives are any console's ultimate selling point. Yes, this is just one game that was first party, but everything has a starting point. People are ultimately worried that this is another nail in consoles as we know them, combined with other factors such as an aggressive move to digital and cloud gaming.

And Sony have not said anything reassuring yet to suggest this is a one off. All they have said is that not all games will necessarily be on PC and not at date and time as PS4/5. This could be interpreted as Sony getting ready to put a leg into the pool of PC rather than a toe. They have been thinking about this for a while. Time will tell if this is truly a one off (would make sense, Death Stranding was originally coming to PC anyway from my understanding and uses the same engine as HZD), but for the time being, people are concerned, and I think they are right to be.

Re: Not Every PS4 Exclusive Guaranteed for PC Release, Says PlayStation Boss

MS7000

Yeah, no. I don't believe this. Especially considering the whole comment about "We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware."

So that implies that PC releases are being considered even if they are not at the same date as release on PS4/PS5. Not a definite of course, but forgive my scepticism.

Re: Yakuza: Like a Dragon Ships Over 400,000 Units

MS7000

Playing through Yakuza 6 at the moment. Just started Chapter 8. Once finished, I will try and get back into Judgment (currently a few chapters in but struggling to hold my interest as well as main Yakuza games).

I am still cautiously looking forward to Yakuza 7 (Like a Dragon), but a new protagonist and gameplay is going to take some getting used to. I have just enjoyed Kiryu's story so much, that I am not looking forward to the end.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn Listed for PC on Amazon France

MS7000

@redd214 Don't get me wrong, consoles are very convenient and can also be cheaper than a fancy-pants gaming PC. It is a contributing factor to why I have stuck with consoles for so long. However, exclusives are what ultimately sells the console for me. For example, if Microsoft had more exclusives worth giving a darn about, I would most likely have brought most of my games for Xbox One rather than PS4, especially since I did not have a PS3 the previous generation. Most of the games on either console are third-party, and look practically identical on either console but more importantly, are available on PC. If both consoles lose their exclusives, PC makes sense to keep all my games in one place.

Assuming any first-party game for PS4 comes to PC eventually, the only real exclusive that the PS4 as a console has that I care about would be Persona. The only other draw of consoles for me is physical media, but that is also starting to develop drawbacks due to no longer being 100% complete. You are correct though that ultimately all this is doing is giving people more choice; just that in my specific case it is to not buy a PS5. I should point that this is an extreme scenario assuming Sony continue with this trend.

@GamingFan4Lyf PC is costly. It is what keeps putting me off. I should probably stress that I am not saying that my circumstances are the same as everyone else, but I would rather invest the money into a PC than individual consoles if I can play everything in one place which will be the case if Sony continues to put exclusives onto PC. That by itself is worth the extra investment for me. Consoles will however always ultimately be cheaper and in theory, will have games optimized to perfection to play on them. I say in theory because some developers seem to struggle with optimization compared to others.

@Shepherd_Tallon This is probably the most accurate comment. Kudos to you.

Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn Listed for PC on Amazon France

MS7000

I don't mind former exclusives being on PC. It just means that instead of a PS5, I will just invest in finally having a decent gaming PC. After all, if the games are eventually going to come to PC and look/perform better as a result, then what is the point of sticking with Playstation?

Re: UK Sales Charts: Dreams Flies Low as Bayonetta and Vanquish Breach Top 10

MS7000

At least Dreams is still in the charts. Yakuza Remastered Collection has disappeared entirely off the Top 40 along with Darksiders Genesis. Bit sad that Yakuza has already disappeared but then again, it is possible that most people brought them as the individual games released digitally. I am looking forward to trying Vanquish, but I am struggling between 100% finishing the Yakuza games and starting Two Point Hospital when it releases tomorrow.

Re: In An Alternate Timeline, We'd Be Playing The Last of Us 2 Right Now

MS7000

"...we were expecting a PlayStation 5 reveal event and The Last of Us: Part II’s launch right around now – neither have materialised. The latter is still shrouded in mystery,..."

I am being a bit pedantic, but shouldn't it be former rather than latter?

Now back to the topic at hand. I still have plenty to play in my backlog before TLOU2, but I can understand the frustration. Quite a few games have been moved so far this year, such as Cyberpunk and FF7. It is nice to know that TLOU2 is being polished, just a pity that the beginning of 2020 has seemingly became empty.

Re: Big in Japan Sale Returns to EU and US PlayStation Store with Hundreds of Discounts

MS7000

That P5: Ultimate Edition discount though... I know that Royal is just around the corner which is probably why P5 is on sale, but the entirety of P5 with all DLC for ÂŁ16 is insane!

Zero Escape: The Nonary Games and Danganronpa 1/2 Reload both for ÂŁ15 each is also fantastic and worth playing. Ace Attorney for ÂŁ12 is also great.

Looking through this sale has also made me realise you can buy an add-on for RE2 which unlocks modes which you normally unlock by playing the game... really? I fail to see the point, but whatever.

Yakuza 0 for ÂŁ9 is also great. If you want to get into the series, there is no better time now that all the games are available on PS4. Cannot recommend enough.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Yakuza in Dreams Land As PS4 Exclusives Start Strong

MS7000

Glad to see Yakuza doing well. I have binged Yakuza over the past week just playing through the main stories. I have beat 3 and 4, currently in Part 2 of 5. I will be going back to complete the games properly, but I just really wanted to get into the story of Kiryu. I will also be buying 6 within the next couple of weeks.

I was worried that I wasn't going to like 3-5 that much as I had been playing Judgment recently and was not enjoying it as much as I hoped, but so far it has been incredible. Truly, there has never been a better time to get into the series than now!

Re: Random: Eco-Friendly PS5 Cases Are Cute and Could Save the Planet

MS7000

Yeah... no. Environmentally friendly perhaps, but not the most practical when it comes to protecting the disc. For me personally as well, would not look as satisfying to display/store. I know cartridges came in cardboard (NES, SNES, N64), but I tend to find that they are more sturdy than discs.

Edit: Good examples of what could be done is cutting down the size of the boxes, and adopting similar designs to something like a 3DS case, where there are holes that make a nice pattern whilst saving materials.

Re: Sexually Charged ESRB Rating Summary for Sakura Wars on PS4 Is the Best Thing You'll Read Today

MS7000

Definitely relationship sim elements then. I am sure it will make sense in context. I mean it can't be that bad given it is only Teen right? ...Right?

At least you know the ESRB were very... thorough when it came to those specific scenes. I am looking forward to this game though. It will be good to try Sakura Wars proper, though I hear the gameplay is different from predecessors.

Re: PS4 Sales on the Decline as PS5 Draws Near

MS7000

@BarefootBowser @JJ2 I should probably clarify. If the base model was cheap enough, I probably would just buy a PS5 and have done with it. But given that both PS4 and Xbox One had upgraded models, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume a pro is being made. I do not necessarily need a Pro specifically, especially since I do not know what this hypothetical Pro would offer, but I would rather just have the best variant of the console from the start than buy multiple variants of the console.
There is a possibility that the Pro would not happen as pointed out, in which case, the PS5 should be cheaper by that point anyway.

Re: PS4 Sales on the Decline as PS5 Draws Near

MS7000

Well with PS5 as close as it is and it being confirmed in an interview to be backwards-compatible with PS4, if you do not already own a PS4, you may as well wait until PS5.

For me though who already has a PS4, I think I will wait until PS5 gets cheaper, or they announce a pro model. I am in no rush; my backlog for PS4 is huge.

Re: Poll: How Much Does PS5 Backwards Compatibility Matter to You?

MS7000

That depends. I would of been fine with PS4 compatibility, although 1, 2 and 3 would be brilliant. However, if there is any weight to the idea that Sony plan on releasing first-party exclusives on to PC a few years after they launch, then the PS5 would need to be compatible with PS1-4 including disc support for me to seriously want to buy it. Unfortunately, I do not know how feasible this is.

Re: The Last of Us Is the Best Game of the Decade, According to Metacritic Users

MS7000

Can't say I am particularly surprised; the list is almost boringly predictable. With the exception of Bloodborne, Dark Souls and Mass Effect 2, every other game on the list managed to sell at least 10 million (more in a couple of cases). When you look at it like that, it makes sense they would be at the top with so many people giving them high ratings. (Not saying it is not deserved; it would explain why they sold so well.)

I personally don't think The Last of Us should be at the top either; it should definitely be played at least once due to the story alone and how it is told, but gameplay wise it didn't have enough variety for me to be interested in repeat playthroughs and I also did not enjoy the ending one bit (did make for a good final level however).

Good for everyone that really liked it though. Here's hoping for more games that everybody likes.

Re: Poll: What Is Your PS4 Game of the Year 2019?

MS7000

Well this is awkward. I have not played a single game on that list. The only ones I own is Judgment which I have not yet started and Resident Evil 2 (only just been gifted). I do plan on buying a few on that list, but have not yet done so... Kind of hard for me to judge which of them is Game of the Year material without playing them.

Re: SuperMash Lets You Mix Genres Together to Make Unique Game Experiences

MS7000

Saw this during the Nindies presentation. This idea sounds interesting on paper but I am worried about it getting stale too quickly, especially since the gameplay feels like the only real draw of the game, and I am expecting the variety to drop off. I hope I am wrong though as it could be really fun to play otherwise.

Re: Reaction: PlayStation's Most Ardent Fans Are Feeling Frustrated and Insecure

MS7000

"The thing is, as fans we need to embrace the changes, and see where they take us."

Not all change is for the better, so I don't really feel we should embrace any change. That said, change will happen whether we want it to or not. Leaving feedback is the only thing we can do if we dislike the direction that it is going. It is times like this where I am glad I have all the major console because I can always leave to another console if need be if Sony really do seem to not listen to feedback.

However, I do not feel Sony are at that point. Not by a long shot. I still think they have had a pretty good generation and the PS5 has a disc drive, and I am confident that Sony will still have games worth buying their console for, so I am fine with them right now. The State of Play we just had would probably have been better received by fans if it wasn't for all the leaks as there was some good info (release dates for dreams, and reveal of RE3).

Re: UK Sales Charts: Death Stranding Slips Yet Further as the Top 10 Holds Steady

MS7000

@carlos82 It wouldn't surprise me if he hadn't played completely through it. There was a review of Yakuza 0 he did where he was talking about the story being very poorly paced and not as interesting as it could be, and part of me is convinced he did not make it through to the end of the game so I could see it being a similar case for Death Stranding.

Like I said, he can sometimes be insightful, but quite a lot of his content does seem to be based around inside jokes from previous videos he has done; for example, in his Spiderman review, he starts the video mocking IGN for saying that "It makes you feel like Spiderman" within the first minute of the review, which comes from him mocking reviewers for saying the Arkham games make you feel like Batman. Probably best to watch most of his videos with a pinch of salt.

You are probably also right about most of the audience having not played the game either, but to be fair, I don't think they would of played the game even if Dunkey hadn't done that video; probably just looking for an excuse not to play.
