@Northern_munkey I have a question. If all you expect from articles like this is "fake rage malarkey", why do you bother clicking on them? Entertainment perhaps? Games not doing it for you anymore? I am just curious.
I would say they do this for retail awareness so people see it on the shelves, but in the UK at least, places selling games are limited; so why bother going through the effort to manufacture box, disc etc and not bother to put the game on disc?
Should of been a pretty complete release as well given this release does not include the multiplayer from the original, so you would hope for a polished game before release, but this is Ubisoft so...
@Dogbreath That’s not to say “a majority“ as you falsely attributed to me saying, although I'd speculate that it was certainly a majority back in the Amiga days.
I said most people against DRM. I never said that people against DRM are the majority. I have sadly gotten used to being in the minority when it comes to issues such as this.
I’m very happy with the 30 day online check. It has absolutely zero impact on me or any other legitimate purchaser, and if it prevents a person playing the game who hasn’t rightfully contributed towards the development costs by paying for it, then that's mighty fine by me.
Very happy for you. Not sure why you are so concerned about pirates, especially given that I doubt something like this will stop them if they are determined. But as a fellow "legitimate purchaser", I don't see why I should accept a lesser experience because of a handful of individuals who were never gonna pay in the first place. Will I be online at least once every 30 days? Majority of the time, I will say yes. Have their been periods of time where I have gone without internet for longer than 30 days? Also yes. Just because the fail conditions are very unlikely for a legitimate user, doesn't mean it won't happen. Sure, I can suck it up, but you know what? No.
@Dogbreath Let’s face it, this type of DRM exists because a lot of you would engage in fraud otherwise by using crafty workarounds to allow half your mates and friends and family to play the game.
Loving the accusation that most against this are thieves. You must be a lovely individual./s
You'll forgive me if I don't trust a corporate entity to not want to screw over consumers by removing access to something that was legally purchased. My good faith is assuming this is a bug, but it certainly is a very real bug if so; I did a test purchase when the news first broke. Doesn't say anything on PS5, but when checking on PS4, definitely had the issue as reported.
Don't use these features anyway, but I also don't believe you should have to submit IDs/verify age to use these features. We have already seen with the Discord leak that IDs and face scans don't quite get deleted as fast as these companies claim, and they all blame each other when something goes wrong. Sick of all of this.
I have played this game through at least 4 times (twice on Switch, PS4 playthrough, and PS5 playthrough), so have the platinum trophy twice. I love the presentation, the music, the story, the writing, and the gameplay. You feel like a badass gliding and "rope darting". Couldn't recommend this game enough.
I wouldn't mind upgrades to trophies or whichever, but also not fussed if they leave it alone. I do trophies more for me than anything else, so not worried about highlighting 100% collection or deleting games with low counts.
So a base PS5 now costs as much as what Argos were charging for a PS5 Pro just this past November. It is getting very difficult to recommend gaming as a hobby nowadays.
Appears to be £3.74 for me whilst logged in. That said, I don't own any of the Assasin's Creed games, so perhaps I am targeted? Either way, quite scummy if this indeed what is happening.
The review score won't make much difference either way, agreed.
That said, if a game is launched, you would expect a game to be reviewed as it is as the game should be a complete experience. If a portion of the game which the developers themselves think is so significant that it can alter perception of the whole game is not ready for launch, then they should either move the launch, or accept the judgement on the work we have available. The fact that developers even feel that they have to ask for this, doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the game.
In light of yesterday's news, coming back here has been interesting seeing just how hyped people were for this studio. A pity they never got to do much beyond some slight support for GOW Ragnarok.
I would be worried about this affecting me, but then I look at how consistent my playtimes are across my consoles over the last few years and I feel reassured that perhaps my phone isn't rotting my brain quite as much as I might fear. Just regular game brainrot.
I alway laugh when I see big expensive collector's editions for a game, and the game is either a digital code, or in some cases, no game at all. At that point, should probably just call it a merch box or something along those lines.
When you consider the other bad practices that have been allowed to propagate, such as paying for online multiplayer, day one DLC, microtransactions and more, it isn't that surprising companies do this as they know there are enough people who are foolish enough to buy "early" access.
@MrPeanutbutterz Holy ****, not sure why everyone is trying to jump you. It's a valid enough opinion.
That said, I am glad we are one step closer to the series being completely available. I might finally do a marathon of the series so I have something to compare 5 to.
Yeah, I am kind of done with RGG now. Even if they make a 3rd Judgment game, I no longer have faith in them to not completely mess it up with questionable decisions.
Game was never going to be for me as multiplayer focused.
Now that I said that, there is nothing wrong with the artstyle; money has clearly been invested here. That said, I feel like it and the gameplay don't have much of an identity of its own. Yes, this is based off Horizon IP, but it doesn't feel like a Horizon game at present; it just feels like they are chasing what everyone else is doing, which is a recurring problem right now. And if it can't carve an identity of its own, then why bother playing this over something else. With game dev times getting longer, seeing a game which doesn't seem to justify itself is very disappointing. Early days of course, and I will be biased since I don't play multiplayer games typically, so things could change, but eh, I doubt it.
@JB_Whiting It's not really surprising people have this mindset. This is the same industry that has accepted paying for online multiplayer, day one dlc, microtransactions, lootboxes etc. People don't really care. Power to them I guess, though I personally loathe generative AI and it's usage in real world application.
I've come to find myself not wanting to contribute to comments and discussions like this anymore as it feels like to me people have accepted everything becoming more **** and worse; actively encourage it. All I can do is try to support the games I want to play now whilst they are still around. My only relief so far is that the games shown to be using Gen AI so far are all games I am not personally interested in anyway.
@Netret0120 Mahjong is a pain to learn and I would be lying if I said I was any good at it, but I do seem to enjoy playing it at this point. Hard part was trying to get it through my skull what hands still win even after revealing some of your tiles. I will freely admit to needing a guide for Shogi.
I am close to platinum on 0, but Baseball is messing me up, specifically the one item on the completion list to win 5 million yen in one sitting.
Kiwami 2 was the first game in the series I got Platinum. Only other games from RGG which I have done that with so far is Gaiden and Lost Judgment. Good to see it finally playing in 60fps. Might replay it solely for the cabaret management game.
Man, this makes me sad; Rikiya, Nakahara and Hamazaki look completely different and with new voive actors. I get possible difficulties in getting the original VAs, but the new voices and looks are throwing me off hard.
I should preface by saying this is the only Metal Gear I have played.
I quite enjoyed it; stealth isn't really my thing, but given how open ended the missions were, there was freedom to how you went about your missions. I quite liked the characters as well and I enjoyed playing back the cassettes in between missions, but I also feel that a lot of the tapes should have been full blown cutscenes and perhaps were intended to be, but never got around to being finished. I know about the cut "Chapter 3" but even if it were included, I don't think it would have tied off the story neatly enough for me. I know people weren't keen on it, but I also liked the "twist" ending. I do feel it would have been more impactful if they got David Hayter to voice the last scene.
I still haven't played P3R yet because no matter how good the new talent is, it always feels off to me. If the cast is being replaced for potential P4R, then I will probably be similarly disinterested.
Price is slighly higher than I was hoping, but given the upgrade and the fact that I want to show Ninja Gaiden has an audience, I am currently watching it download as I speak. Thrilled to play this again and assuming it comes physical (not through limited release companies), I will double dip.
I've said this before, but I don't think any game is worth more than £60 to me. I typically don't buy games at launch anymore, and if I do, it is Nintendo, or it £50 or less. I don't have interest in GTA anyway but if other Devs and Publishers try it, they are going to be sorely disappointed.
I feel my comment from last week's article about why Sony should keep pushing for Live Service aged like fine wine. The amount of money wasted is absurd.
Don't see why Sony should pursue GAAS because of one live service success, especially given the failue of Concorde, but hey, could be funny to watch them waste their money.
Saw this during the presentation, then they immediately talk about all the ways they are enhancing graphics with the Pro. Feels like no lessons were learned here.
That price point for diminishing returns, when it still doesn't really feel like the base PS5 has been used efficiently... Plus raising the price of the dualsense.
