Re: Site News: Where's Our Marathon PS5 Review?

MS7000

The review score won't make much difference either way, agreed.

That said, if a game is launched, you would expect a game to be reviewed as it is as the game should be a complete experience. If a portion of the game which the developers themselves think is so significant that it can alter perception of the whole game is not ready for launch, then they should either move the launch, or accept the judgement on the work we have available. The fact that developers even feel that they have to ask for this, doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the game.

Re: Saros Succumbs to the Pay Extra to Play Early Trend

MS7000

When you consider the other bad practices that have been allowed to propagate, such as paying for online multiplayer, day one DLC, microtransactions and more, it isn't that surprising companies do this as they know there are enough people who are foolish enough to buy "early" access.

Re: Poll: What's Your Reaction to Horizon Hunters Gathering?

MS7000

Game was never going to be for me as multiplayer focused.

Now that I said that, there is nothing wrong with the artstyle; money has clearly been invested here. That said, I feel like it and the gameplay don't have much of an identity of its own. Yes, this is based off Horizon IP, but it doesn't feel like a Horizon game at present; it just feels like they are chasing what everyone else is doing, which is a recurring problem right now. And if it can't carve an identity of its own, then why bother playing this over something else. With game dev times getting longer, seeing a game which doesn't seem to justify itself is very disappointing. Early days of course, and I will be biased since I don't play multiplayer games typically, so things could change, but eh, I doubt it.

Re: Now It's Battlefield 6's Turn to Face Accusations of Generative AI Usage

MS7000

@JB_Whiting It's not really surprising people have this mindset. This is the same industry that has accepted paying for online multiplayer, day one dlc, microtransactions, lootboxes etc. People don't really care. Power to them I guess, though I personally loathe generative AI and it's usage in real world application.

I've come to find myself not wanting to contribute to comments and discussions like this anymore as it feels like to me people have accepted everything becoming more **** and worse; actively encourage it. All I can do is try to support the games I want to play now whilst they are still around. My only relief so far is that the games shown to be using Gen AI so far are all games I am not personally interested in anyway.

Re: Yakuza Kiwami 2 Has All-Important 60FPS Performance on PS5 Alongside Free Upgrade

MS7000

@Netret0120 Mahjong is a pain to learn and I would be lying if I said I was any good at it, but I do seem to enjoy playing it at this point. Hard part was trying to get it through my skull what hands still win even after revealing some of your tiles. I will freely admit to needing a guide for Shogi.

I am close to platinum on 0, but Baseball is messing me up, specifically the one item on the completion list to win 5 million yen in one sitting.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on Metal Gear Solid 5, 10 Years Later?

MS7000

I should preface by saying this is the only Metal Gear I have played.

I quite enjoyed it; stealth isn't really my thing, but given how open ended the missions were, there was freedom to how you went about your missions. I quite liked the characters as well and I enjoyed playing back the cassettes in between missions, but I also feel that a lot of the tapes should have been full blown cutscenes and perhaps were intended to be, but never got around to being finished. I know about the cut "Chapter 3" but even if it were included, I don't think it would have tied off the story neatly enough for me. I know people weren't keen on it, but I also liked the "twist" ending. I do feel it would have been more impactful if they got David Hayter to voice the last scene.

Re: Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Remasters an Action Classic, Out Now on PS5

MS7000

Price is slighly higher than I was hoping, but given the upgrade and the fact that I want to show Ninja Gaiden has an audience, I am currently watching it download as I speak. Thrilled to play this again and assuming it comes physical (not through limited release companies), I will double dip.

Re: Would You Pay $100 for GTA 6?

MS7000

I need that J.Jonah Jamieson gif.

I've said this before, but I don't think any game is worth more than £60 to me. I typically don't buy games at launch anymore, and if I do, it is Nintendo, or it £50 or less. I don't have interest in GTA anyway but if other Devs and Publishers try it, they are going to be sorely disappointed.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Can Be Played Entirely Offline, Once You've Installed It

MS7000

Not sure how only requiring internet for installation makes it any better; the whole draw of having a physical copy is knowing it will work down the line when it is no longer possible to connect to a server.

Granted, I am very unlikely to play this anyway; never got into the series. But it does irk me how we collectively keep letting practices like this become common place. People seem to think gaming is disposable; which is exactly what it will become.

Re: Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (PS5) - The Best Yakuza Game Ever Made

MS7000

Another slow start doesn't exactly thrill me. I only really got around to plowing through Like a Dragon a few months ago despite owning the game since it's launch because the game just took forever to get going for me. The change in gameplay didn't help either.

As much as I want to know what will happen to Kiryu, I think I'll wait for this one until cheaper.
