Re: Ghost of Yotei's PS5 Complete Edition Will Get a Physical Disc, But There Are Already Concerns

MS7000

Disappointing, but not surprising given this is Sony.

@StrickenBiged I agree preservation shouldn't be on individual gamers. But historically, companies don't seem to give a ****, especially given many game dev interviews for remasters/remakes where they essentially start from scratch due to losing source code/resources from the original releases. And I have little hope of legislation forcing companies to preserve these materials and even then, I am not sure that is a good way forward either. Ownership is the bigger issue though.

Re: 'We Are Not Seeing Any Impact on Our Business': Sony Says Physical Disc Backlash Is Having Zero Effect

MS7000

I mean, financial results so far only go up to June 30th, which just so happens to be before the announcement, so in terms of those results, of course they won't notice anything yet. Not to mention, this Q+A is for investors; do you honestly expect them to be 100% truthful on something that wouldn't look favourable to them?

Yes, they probably have some metrics already that say one way or another, and truthfully, I don't think the boycott will do anything, but we are very early days in this. There is still 17 months before this happens.

Re: Amidst Sony's Disc Debacle, Capcom Sales Data Is a Brutal Reality Check for Fans of Physical Media

MS7000

@Old-Red I was thinking similar. Or to go further, given we don't know the individual splits of digital sales on consoles; perhaps they will only bother chasing the biggest console. Given key-cards are considered by Capcom to be digital, that could mean Nintendo is seen as the bigger share and Sony then misses out on future titles.

I should say this is hypothetical; I would be surprised if this was the case. But there is no guarantee that any company will continue supporting consoles going forward, as they will push for PC in the same way Sony is pushing for no more discs; to increase their share of the revenue.

Re: Sony Imposes 'Strictest Ever Social Media Guidelines' on Staff Due to PS5 Disc Debacle

MS7000

@DennisReynolds So PS how about at the end of each day you make a super article that covers all the news of the day regarding the disc news instead of doing a 100 different articles every day regarding the disc thing with the comments section containing the exact same comments as the last.

They could do, but then we wouldn't get your comments moaning in every article would we? You and several other individuals keep saying that these constant articles about the same topic are annoying, but you seem to bite at them. Be the change you want to see.

Re: Practically Every Comment on PlayStation's YouTube Is Now About Physical Discs

MS7000

@Dogbreath "We are only telling you what WILL inevitably happen."

"...people like us telling you the uncomfortable truth, are somehow against you or holding you back."

I think people have heard you loud and clear on the "truth". You've only been saying it for numerous posts now. We have got the message. If I was constantly in your ear telling you the sun will set, I am sure you would get fed up with me very quickly. You can say you are not that bad, but you seem to have an awful lot of comments in the articles since Sony announced they were discontinuing discs. You don't have to support people who are in disagreement with Sony, but constantly saying things are inevitable will p*** people off. If that is what you actually want, then keep going, but I doubt you are going to change anyone's mind.

Re: Sony Will Have Capacity to Continue Manufacturing Some Game Discs Beyond 2028 Cut-Off Date

MS7000

@PlayNation5

1. Don't see how this helps me as a physical player, but yes, Sony should do this.

2. That should happen, yes. but the framework for this should already be in place. It is not, and I am doubtful that it will be in place for a while even after 2028.

3. Ah yes, because people collect to show off to others, not because they actually want to do it for themselves. Everyone is a content creator. Right...

4. At present, only PS+ Premium users get this. As someone who has never subscribed to PS+, even the essential tier, this is useless. Sony would need to expand this, but why would they?

5. People sleep on Game Sharing, something that was never possible with disc-based games but is an amazing way to save money on games

...Do I really need to link that video from 2013 from Sony themselves?

6. Yes, and servers go down and hard-drives and SSDs can malfunction. And both are also susceptible to natural disasters. Not sure what your point is here.

Re: Even Politicians Are Commenting on Sony's Decision to Stop Making Physical Games

MS7000

Until these comments change into meaningful consumer rights for digital products. I could not give a **** what a politician says. Not to mention recent actions around the world with pushing digital IDs and verification gives me no hope that politicians will ever be helpful in this situation. I would be open to digital if these rights were already in place (although I would still be miffed), but given the current legal framework; physical media is much better.

Re: UK Gamers Question Hobby's Future as Government Bans Kids from Social Media

MS7000

Honestly don't care they want to ban kids if that is indeed the only intention, not that I believe that for a second. But I do care about how they try to enforce it, as I can't say I particular want to have my face training AI, or submitting any IDs. So far VPNs are useful, but given that just this morning Liz Kendall states in a live interview they will be talking about these more in July, I fully expect more stupidity, with more falling back on the reason of "protecting the kids" since parents are too inept to do so, because heck knows they can't tell their own children "no".

Re: PS5 Will Reveal the Most Played Games with Steam-Like Player Numbers

MS7000

Yeah, not sure I need the reminder of most popular games. Painfully aware of how it is. Although part of me is surprised the gap between 1 and 2, and the gap between 4 and 5 in terms of players. I also feel like the fact that it is the usual suspects at the top reiterates how difficult and perhaps foolish it is for other developers to keep chasing the same crowd who play these games.

Re: Rumour: Rayman Legends Remake May Be Announced This Summer

MS7000

I have played through Rayman Legends on 3 separate platforms, including getting the platinum on PS4 which takes forever because of "levels of awesomeness" which take forever to get enough points. I really do not understand what a remake could possibly add to this game.

Re: Assassin's Creed Fans Furious as Physical Copies of Black Flag's PS5 Remake Will Require Internet

MS7000

I would say they do this for retail awareness so people see it on the shelves, but in the UK at least, places selling games are limited; so why bother going through the effort to manufacture box, disc etc and not bother to put the game on disc?

Should of been a pretty complete release as well given this release does not include the multiplayer from the original, so you would hope for a polished game before release, but this is Ubisoft so...

Re: PS5, PS4 Game Expiry DRM Concerns Escalate as Sony Remains Silent on Issue

MS7000

@Dogbreath That’s not to say “a majority“ as you falsely attributed to me saying, although I'd speculate that it was certainly a majority back in the Amiga days.

I said most people against DRM. I never said that people against DRM are the majority. I have sadly gotten used to being in the minority when it comes to issues such as this.

I’m very happy with the 30 day online check. It has absolutely zero impact on me or any other legitimate purchaser, and if it prevents a person playing the game who hasn’t rightfully contributed towards the development costs by paying for it, then that's mighty fine by me.

Very happy for you. Not sure why you are so concerned about pirates, especially given that I doubt something like this will stop them if they are determined. But as a fellow "legitimate purchaser", I don't see why I should accept a lesser experience because of a handful of individuals who were never gonna pay in the first place. Will I be online at least once every 30 days? Majority of the time, I will say yes. Have their been periods of time where I have gone without internet for longer than 30 days? Also yes. Just because the fail conditions are very unlikely for a legitimate user, doesn't mean it won't happen. Sure, I can suck it up, but you know what? No.

Re: PS4 Game Expiry Timer Sparks DRM Concerns, Here's What We Know So Far

MS7000

@Dogbreath Let’s face it, this type of DRM exists because a lot of you would engage in fraud otherwise by using crafty workarounds to allow half your mates and friends and family to play the game.

Loving the accusation that most against this are thieves. You must be a lovely individual./s

You'll forgive me if I don't trust a corporate entity to not want to screw over consumers by removing access to something that was legally purchased. My good faith is assuming this is a bug, but it certainly is a very real bug if so; I did a test purchase when the news first broke. Doesn't say anything on PS5, but when checking on PS4, definitely had the issue as reported.
