If you’ve been following the Yakuza franchise since the dark days when Sony had to step in and localise Yakuza 5 on SEGA’s behalf, then it’s probably refreshing to see a trio of Ryu ga Gotoku re-releases near the top of the UK charts. Yakuza Remastered Collection was actually the biggest new physical launch in Britain last week, despite parts of it deploying digitally over the past six months or so.
Naturally it couldn’t outperform FIFA 20 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which occupied the top two places respectively. It did outsell Dreams in 8th, though, which has been in Early Access since last April – and, honestly, seems more suited to the PlayStation Store. The other big new release, Darksiders: Genesis, narrowly missed out on a top ten finish, settling for 11th position, while the repackaged Street Fighter V: Champion Edition could only climb as high as 37th place.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 15th February 2020
- FIFA 20
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
- Yakuza Remastered Collection
- Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
- Minecraft
- Dreams
- Luigi's Mansion 3
- NBA 2K20

Good to see them both chart but Dreams at No.8 likely means it only sold a few thousand units which isn't great. That said I think most people will buy that game digitally.
You also neglect to mention that Yakuza came out 3 days earlier than the other new releases which have only been on the market for a couple days.
@viciousarcanum A fair point!
I don't understand how Gta V is still selling like crazy and Dreams is only at 8. :/
Worth noting didn't Dreams do well with Early Access? So it already had some built in sales from that.
At least there’s a few new games on the list, even if it’s a lot of the same ones too.
Who keeps buying GTA V?!!
Dreams is also sold out in the Amazon UK Store since saturday so they couldnt provide that much stock as it seems.
Not a bad result for yakuza and dreams
Fifa doesn’t deserve the sales. A microtransaction gambling poo display.
Loving Dreams so far, just doing the tutorials makes me feel awesome. Currently level 8 and onto adding sound into creations next.
I still dont own GTA5. 😆
Glad to see Yakuza doing well. I have binged Yakuza over the past week just playing through the main stories. I have beat 3 and 4, currently in Part 2 of 5. I will be going back to complete the games properly, but I just really wanted to get into the story of Kiryu. I will also be buying 6 within the next couple of weeks.
I was worried that I wasn't going to like 3-5 that much as I had been playing Judgment recently and was not enjoying it as much as I hoped, but so far it has been incredible. Truly, there has never been a better time to get into the series than now!
@hi_drnick Why do people always ask this? 😆 Hundreds of people are born every day, there are thousands of new 18 year olds each week. It's like saying "why do they still have weddings? Isn't everyone married by now?"
Hopefully Dreams will only continue to grow through word of mouth and its own community almost carrying and promoting the game on their own.
@Matroska Not that i disagree but i'm pretty sure most under 18's who have an interest in GTA have already got the game, my little Bro is 13 and he's had the game since he was 11 for instance.
@WallyWest Sure, but the specific age doesn't matter. In the UK alone, millions of people have become 10, 11, 12, whatever since GTAV came out. The potential customer base isn't finite. GTA can't run out of new customers unless people stop being born. The whole "who still doesn't have GTAV?" question assumes no one is being born and no one is aging.
buying Dreams this week
@Matroska good point. I never thought of it like that. Even so, it's pretty insane that it charts better than most new releases.
Great to see yakuza remastered in the charts 😍
