If you need a facemask to protect yourself from coronavirus, then you may require a full-body hazmat suit if you dare to read our Twitter replies from the past 48 hours. Since confirmation that Horizon: Zero Dawn is coming to PC – which, we should stress, has been rumoured for months – fanboys from all corners of the web have been kicking off, and it’s made for a real poisonous environment.
In fact, one ex-Guerrilla Games producer has seen enough – and he's responded to one of the most startling reactions to the recent port announcement, asking: “What the hell is wrong with you people?” The video clip, which has amassed over 1.2 million views, shows a sniffling fan filming his ripped-up apartment and broken PS4 Pro. “Thanks for f*cking nothing, PlayStation,” he wrote. Fortunately, the video has emerged as a hoax, but there's no question some have been genuinely irked by the news.
Sam Sharma, who worked on Horizon: Zero Dawn, said: “We made a game, you enjoyed it. Now some more people get to enjoy it. And somehow that takes away from your enjoyment?!” With a deadly virus spreading, climate issues, and poverty still a very real problem for billions of people – it does seem silly to get worked up over a toy, doesn’t it?

Sigh... Fanboys... 🙄
that video is some terrible acting come on it is not real. the fans are the ones who have helped Guerilla games stay open all these years so he should take a step back & think about that.
I like to think not a single one of the morlocks crying about this are actually serious. Some may not even be real people.
@get2sammyb Please covering ADAM BOYES's newest tweets too...
Perfect response really.
It is ignoring people's genuine concerns about PlayStation's long term viability if exclusives get put onto other systems.
Imagine applauding gatekeeping a game you love instead of celebrating that more people will be able to enjoy them.
The problem is they sold it as an exclusive and it's not. Unless your super anxious to play a game you should just wait for the port for your PC. Now I wish I would have for Horizon.
Well if he wanted to make a game for everyone I think he is in the wrong team and that goes for everyone that think that this is the only game and that this is good for gamers because while it might be good for some it's bad for PlayStation and real fans understand why just look at Nintendo if it wasn't for their exclusives they would be nothing by now, honestly the company that I want the most to port their games would be Nintendo because I don't like their consoles quality because they don't offer much
Good for him, the man babies are annoying!
A lot of stupidity on both sides. Next a clown posting a pic of the game in the toilet and that's 'obviously' proves people who believe in exclusives are 'crazy'
Way to miss the point. Most people don't necessarily care that other people are getting to play the game. People care that consoles are essentially losing what makes them unique; Exclusives. I have seen many people harping on that Sony has done so well this generation due to one thing. Which is? Because, they, have, games! Exclusives are any console's ultimate selling point. Yes, this is just one game that was first party, but everything has a starting point. People are ultimately worried that this is another nail in consoles as we know them, combined with other factors such as an aggressive move to digital and cloud gaming.
And Sony have not said anything reassuring yet to suggest this is a one off. All they have said is that not all games will necessarily be on PC and not at date and time as PS4/5. This could be interpreted as Sony getting ready to put a leg into the pool of PC rather than a toe. They have been thinking about this for a while. Time will tell if this is truly a one off (would make sense, Death Stranding was originally coming to PC anyway from my understanding and uses the same engine as HZD), but for the time being, people are concerned, and I think they are right to be.
Is this site really going to start calling people butthurt? I'm sure there's a fair argument to suggest these fans are overreacting but it reads more like a young teenager posting on social media. You can do better than that.
The game’s a few years old, at this point it’s no different from all those exclusives from last gen that got remastered for a multiplat release this gen. Honestly, if it was a few months down the line, that would literally be true.
@LieutenantFatman
Also they should stop inciting gamers to call one another 'fanboy'. Its toxic and offensive.
The account with that video on has come out as a joke account. Apparently they've been planning that tweet for some time but, due to folks reaction and general concerns about mental health, they owned up. Genius move that folks clearly bought hook line and sinker.
@LieutenantFatman I agree PS need to be better then that.
I think this guy is a bit harsh. After all, he didn't work at Rockstar or Unisoft but at a company owned by Sony with the remit of making PS exclusives.
Also, there aren't many AAA open world multiplatform games being made nowadays. Sony funded development of a brand new IP that may have failed. It didn't of course and sold in the millions and Guerrilla deserve a lot of praise for this but helped by how much the Sony community embraced this game and it's lead and it's wonderful story and world.
Calling people butthurt over this is very rude.
Arrogant Sony back it again it seems, so now they are attacking fans who have made playstation what they are today, good way to spit on the fanbase.
Its quite clear now they are moving all their games to Pc, fine by me, I won't be fooled like I was with Xbox.
There is no point buying a console without exclusives, plain and simple, you take that away and you destroy the brand just look at xbox.
Playstation gamers have financed the development of Horizon Zero Dawn on Pc by making it a commercial success, they are catering to people who had no intention of ever supporting the game, they had years to buy a cheap ps4, there is no way they will buy a ps5 for HZD 2, once again they will wait.
No point in investing in your box if your are just going to move it to a better platform with better frame rates and graphics and lets not forget no paying for online crap, stuff psplus.
Can anyone form the UK or US, whose English is their primary language. Clear a doubt for me.
What is wrong with you people?
Is this consider racist??
@Rick_Deckard no, it basically means what the f*** are you doing idiots?
@Rick_Deckard No, it's just a generalisation in this example. If someone said "what is wrong with you people" while addressing a race specifically, then that could be considered racist.
@ShogunRok Thanks man! That's pretty clear.
I can see his point - some of the reactions have been utterly ridiculous.
But I can also see why some people may feel genuinely concerned.
This is a first-party game. Okay, it's a years-old first-party game, and one that, if people were going to buy a PS4 to play it, they'd have done so by now. So more money for Sony off of an otherwise stalled title (sales wise) is "a good thing".
The 'issue' is that it's not something Sony have done before, and if - IF - they were to eventually follow the Xbox route, releasing games on PC day-and-date with the console counterpart, they risk the same issue that Xbox has... that they render their hardware irrelevant to anyone with a decent PC.
See, at this moment in time, if you have a decent PC, there is very little reason (unless you're a "hardcore" fan) to buy an Xbox. With all their first-party games appearing on PC at the same time as the console, and with Live accessible on PC to play against Xbox players without a subscription, and with PC versions being cheaper and - arguably - better performing, you just don't need one.
Disastrous launch issues aside, I believe these factors have made a significant contribution to the relatively poor sales of Xbox hardware this generation, and ignoring the hysterics of the relative handful of Twitter morons, I understand why some may feel uneasy.
'Butthurt'? Really?
HZD is hardly a brand new game. Its three years old, people are getting worked up over nothing. I couldn't care less if the exclusives come to PC, I would rather own two consoles than a top end PC anyway.
@CmShepard yes, clearly arrogant Sony as a company is attacking fans, not a single person.
Your trolling of Sony the last couple of days is just sad at this point.
the crybaby era really is in full force. I platinumed the game 3 years ago. it deserves more attention.
"What the hell is wrong with you people?"
Fanship. What else does he expect to be wrong with us people? Fan "love" is aggressively possessive to the bone.
@David187 You mean, Sony and the interested audiences have helped them stay open all these years. Fans are as antonymous to help as they are to most other values.
So then, if that's the way to go why not release all PS5 games on PC too?
More enjoyment, right.
Why not on XBox One X too?
That will also make more enjoyment overall.
Double-standard PR bullsh*t. Same with Hulst.
@naruball Im voicing my opinion like everyone else, if you don't like it, hit the ignore button, simple.
They can put all their games on PC for all I care. I'm still getting them on console. It doesn't affect me one way or the other.
Aloy has been positioned to be one of the new faces of PS, alongside Kratos and Drake and Joel & Ellie. This is an IP with bags of potential and one that can last for maybe the next decade or beyond. I mean, perhaps with the inevitable sequel they're also planning on an online version a la what Rockstar do with GTA and Red Dead.
I'm not against PC owners getting to play MP titles like Red Dead, indeed I was happy that they got to share in such a great game. Horizon is different or at least it ought to be.
It's more the principle of the thing than anything else. Also, she was designed to feel modern and more a potential feminist icon than just a over sexualised character that teenage boys can drool over. That will change when the modders get their hands on her!
Anyhoo, Horizon today, God of War tomorrow?
If it keeps the companies afloat im for this. We had Horizon as an exclusive for a good amount of time. We knew Death Stranding was also going to PC. Id rather see these companies getting a fanbase and getting enough money to make even better games and keeping people employed. Like it or not thats the gaming industry of modern times.
@naruball He may be just a troll, but his points are real.
Upset people are not XB or PC user, but PS4 user, same people that will probably buy the new PS5, same people that have been buying their games till today.
And he is righ about the PC user, if they do not buy a cheap PS4 in all this years to play HZD, they will certainly not buy a more expensive PS5 for HZD2. Actually now they have very good real reason to not doing it.
Remember we live in a world where people review bomb when a games isn't released on the platform they own, or destroy a PS4 when a game that looks like Zelda gets announced.
I'm actually psyched to see it released on PC. This means some friends who don't own a PS4 will be able to discover it (I'll make sure they do) AND HZD2 will have a much much bigger budget thanks to the pc release!
Honestly I'm not trolling, just a passionate playstation gamer with my own views, I'm sorry if it upsets other people, I don't mean to offend.
To be fair, if all of PlayStation games become available on PC, I wouldn't get a PS5.
@Danloaded That's The Thing It Was The PS Fanbase That Kept Them Afloat Last Gen When They Were Bleeding Money Left And Right And Now To Spit in Said Fanbases Faces When They Are Now Back In The Green Is a Dick Move
Drop your over priced games at launch especially downloadable games, where as on PC almost half the price we pay on console. Drop paying to play online, drop making console players pay for remastered games they already own then giving to PC players who already own the game have it for free. Otherwise stop milking console plays, because I can guarantee PC players will not be paying £49.99-£54.99 for that very same game.
@NomNom This.
I'm not saying I will definitely go PC next gen but this news has given me pause.
I'm a pretty big fan of Playstation, have always been. I grew up on this, man. So let me say this and personally move on. The game's a few years old, I played it when it came out, I replayed again and again. Now if some others get to play it? sure, why the hell not.
But all I want is for PS5 to have its exclusives, cuz I want to have more reasons for buying a supposedly 500$+ console than solely being a fan of its brand.
P.S. I'm still gonna buy a PS5
@NomNom Same for me. Since the rumor leaked in past days my interest on PS5 goes from "Yes" to "I Will Wait..."
If this become a trend i will just pass from PS5.
I already have a desktop PC, its not great but if i can play XB games and PS games on it, a hardware upgrade start looking like a good danm option.
So I genuinel don't understand the consternation. Yes, It was an exclusive, now it's not.
Perhaps I am different from everyone else here but I didn't buy my PS4 because of exclusive games but because I prefer playing games on a console. I'm not snobbish about framerates and the such, it doesn't have to have the most perfect 4K visuals, I don't play FPS so lag doesn't matter to me. I just prefer to play with a controller rather than mouse and keyboard, which I find awkward and ungainly. I usually wait for games to port to console because they are poerted for the controller. I hate to use pc controllers and have to map all the buttons. I'm just too lazy.
Is it a bonus that Persona 5 is on PS4? Yes. Would I not have bought a console because it is also avail on pc or switch? No, I'd have still bought a console.
For disclosure I do play certain games on PC and I own a switch. Did that stop me buying a PS4. No.
It's also coming to the end of a console generation, so I don't think it matters as much but I can't figure getting so worked up about something that I felt a company betrayed me.
As has been said, I think calling people "buttheart" is just inciting further overreaction from those in the community that are miffed. I think the ex-Guerrilla producer's view is correct, other people experiencing something you liked does not change your own experience, but his knee jerk response contributes to these bait-driven headlines.
I honestly have no problem with PS exclusives eventually making their way to PC, or even other platforms. I play on PS consoles because they have great first party titles, and even if those titles eventually ahow up elsewhere I will likely have long finished them AND I will not have spent the money it would have cost for a good PC to run them on.
I get that there might be an image issue if lota of PS exclusives are only timed exclusives; it's definitely something Sony needs to keep an eye on. However, making games like Horizon costs $$$$$$$$ and if we want things like this to continue Sony probably doesn't think it can just leave all that extra market untapped.
This is the new reality.
@kiki3400
Your absolutely right.
This isn't a big deal at all.
On the other hand, it shows people wont accept what happened for xbox as easily, and its somehow reassuring.
Maybe that's the point?
Bought HZD when it released and still haven't got round to playing it yet (same with GOW and Days Gone) - one day soon I'll try & see what all the fuss is about !
@Gremio108 Ahh, ‘butthurt’, what a word. Brings to mind blossoming romances, summer flings, those teenage fancies... oh lord, wrong context 😉
personally, i think HZD2 will be on PC within 6 months of its PS5 release, regardless of hermann hulst's platitudes.. i think guerrilla's ambition is license the decima tech to third parties, and HZD games are a good showcase for its potential.
it does seem a bit incongruous that when its exclusives sold 2-3m (as in the case of killzone) that it didn't court all this untapped potential revenue in the PC market, but now they're selling 10m+ it can't ignore it... whatevers.
@nessisonett - really?. brings to my mind a huge mistake called chicken phaal.
@CmShepard "Arrogant Sony back it again it seems, so now they are attacking fans who have made playstation what they are today"
It's not though, is it? He's an ex-Guerilla producer who currently works at EA, and no longer has anything to do with Sony. He doesn't speak for them, and it's entirely his own opinion.
@leucocyte Hahahaha, I do wonder when the expression started to be used in this situation though, it’s rather odd.
@leucocyte That's The Funny Thing They Didn't Do This Last Gen When It Would Have Made A Little Since Because They Were Losing Alot Of Money But Now That They Are Back In the Green they Pull This
It’s just one exclusive a 3 year old exclusive they said don’t expect a pc port of other exclusives especially at launch if they did that would be understandable but look on the bright side if there making a pc version with more details higher FPS and resolution chances are that it will also become a upgraded version for ps5.
@RudeAnimat0r Sony has been able to produce high quality exclusive games all generation ( which has brought in alot of revenue) without their games going to any other platform. That talking point doesn't make sense to me..
@RudeAnimat0r
"The game, which is the first open world effort coming from the Killzone developer and has just released for PS4/PS4 Pro, has cost the software house and its publisher Sony an amount around $47 million."
https://www.gamepur.com/news/horizon-zero-dawn-budget-revealed-the-game-is-the-largest-dutch-media-production-ever
Now calculate how much money was made within at least 4 millions of full priced 60$ sales (minus physical costs) and then over 10 millions of sales in the end. Saying things like "they need to earn more money to break with their game" is naïve at least.
It’s not like Microsoft where you can play all there games on pc and for a cheap monthly subscription (game pass), Sony is probably just gonna do it for old exclusives and only one here and there so far it’s just horizon zero dawn, death stranding doesn’t count because it was always advertised as a pc and PS4 game before the name of the game was announced by the way.
To the people saying well its a 3 year old game and they said it won't be all games coming to pc or day and date.
You do realize Phil Spencer said the same thing when it first started for Xbox, just saying, you should not believe a word they say, its just PR talk for now before the release of PS5.
@RudeAnimat0r that is complete rubbish Sony is doing better than ever they do not need to do this.
@CmShepard if they do end up doing it for all ps exclusives like Xbox then calling them liars would be right and it would be fair to complain and go mad but in the here and now it is just one game one 3 year old game.
@AdamNovice @MS7000 @LieutenantFatman Nothing new there. People with completely different agendas and even certain journalist will use these sort of controversial individuals (be it trolling or being genuinly pissed off), that sadly are part of our gaming of community as a scapegoat to ignore people that actually have genuine concerns...
That is simply how the world and media works, unfortunately.
This is a good promotion for the PS5. If PC players like the original, then they may buy a PS5 to play the sequel.
Everyone else is waiting for their PS4 copy of Nioh2, FF7, Sakura Wars, TLOU2, Ghost of Tsushima in a ROW.
But PC got HZD... time to sell our PS4s. Because my PC that cost 4X the price of my PS4 is to play old $15 PS4 game 🙄🙃
When the Switch finally gets Persona 5 some people are going to have a nervous breakdown.
@grant4evergamer Thats the thing though, they won't care by that stage, calling them liars will be pointless. Its the here and now when fans should be voicing their concerns, not years after when they have already shafted us.
Look at psplus, Playstation only brought that in because of Xbox and playstation gamers were silent and let it happen. Its one of their biggest earners now and they will never get rid of the shady practice of paying to play online.
Now its the same situation, playstation are copying xbox and it seems like the majority are just accepting it, I can't do that.
@Agramonte Persona 5 isn't even a first party game, so no one should really be surprised if it does happen.
@snakemake I never said anything about this being about HZD breaking even, obviously the game was a huge success for them. But also to whoever called me naive, Sony doesn't make $60 on a new full price sale and they make substantially less on basically any sale outside of the first 6 months - I got HZD with DLC for $15. But since we're spitballing, maybe they needed extra cash to pay off the acquisition of Insomniac, which cost $230m, or perhaps develop a new VR headset, or release a PS5? Or hey, maybe you're right it's just plain corporate greed!!
Also, analogies to previous generations don't hold water. Yes the PS4 has done very well, but basically every aspect of developing, releasing and supporting a console with top flight games has gotten more expensive.
@InsertUsername Does not matter if 1st or 3rd... people still act crazy.
Same insane mentality - that a game that has been available for years on PS4 and dirt cheap somehow becomes irrelevant because available on another platform.
Miss point. No matter how old is the game. People love one of unique point playstation as a brand, Exclusive game. And "only on playstation" is already great value that become reason people buy playstation.
I am sure nintendo fans will angry if nintendo released game on pc. Even nintendo released some of their mascot in other platform like IOS/Android but thats more inferior game than game in switch. While in case of HZD that will make PC are more superior than playstation.
@AdamNovice Yep basically which is a shame.
@badbob001 That's exactly what the head of Sony said as well. They want to make more ideas to get people to buy more systems and they even said they aren't giving up all of their exclusives.
He's crying in the video! 😂 😂 😂 That's hilarious if it's genuine.
@grant4evergamer Well that and Kojima isn't a Sony owned developer. They just got support from them.
"Phil Spencer says not every Xbox game will come to PC"
"Hermen Hulst says releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC"
@Agramonte I'm saying no one should be surprised. I'm aware that they will still flip over it. Irrational behavior is just human nature. I say let them voice their disdain. They won't listen anyway.
@Imagremlin Can't really blame the guy for writing that title tho.
It makes sense, instead of writing ''Ex-guerilla producer responds (...)'' or ''Ex-guerilla producer expresses his opinion (...)'', he wrote the sort of title that would bring more attention to the article at hand.
Some call it click-baiting, but to me that's something else entirely.
@makina check his posts. In almost every single one, at least the last couple of days, he keeps saying how much better PC is, how he's not getting a ps5 over and and OVER again.
It is sad. As for Horizon being released on PC, I'm not in favour, as I've already stated.
@CmShepard I'm voicing my opinion too, though, unlike you, without trolling. If you don't like it, take your own advice and hit the ignore button. Simple.
Needless to say, you had nothing to say about the fact that you accused Sony of being arrogant for attacking fans when it was just one person who's not even a representative of the company.
@naruball You responded to me, not the other way around champ so its clear you are upset about my opinion by labeling it as "trolling"
Like I said hit the ignore button because I aint going to stop voicing my opinion.
I loved H:ZD and got the platinum - also bought the DLC and completed that too. It certainly hasn't impacted on my enjoyment or my feelings towards Sony. I couldn't care less that now a lot of others will get to enjoy this great game - years after I did!
Its not stopping me buy games like Ghost of Tsushima or Last of Us 2 - even if either do end up coming to PC eventually. I don't game on PC anyway so I am just happy that I got to enjoy these games on a console - the way I prefer to do my gaming.
As someone with an Xbox, I also don't care of their 'exclusives' are locked to a Console, locked to MS's ecosystem or even come to Playstation (eventually). What I care about most is whether I can get to play the games I want.
I think I was 19 when I played Horizon: Zero Dawn. I’m 38 now. What’s the big deal? They’ve not announced any new IPs or exclusives going cross-platform. The game is an older title that you can get on PS4 for under $10. And people are treating this single game as the death knell of console gaming. You all are too extreme and paranoid. You all grew taller and thought because the sun is closer to your heads that the sky is falling.
money,money,money
Sony join to Microsoft
@Imagremlin the tweeter didn’t insult anyone. Yes some will go far to insult people but not everyone will hurl insults. The troll in the video does deserve insults though. Trash all your hard-earned hardware because a single piece of 3-year-old software is no longer exclusive to your choice console? How is that prudent? Also, there’s a difference between voicing an opinion and trolling. Though I will admit that some who have simply voiced their displeasure with the loss of an exclusive have been met with equal levels of trolling.
@badbob001 You can poll the steam community and you will get a overwhelming hell no to buying a PS5 for HZD2, steam users have hundreds of games in their backlogs from the constant sales and can play the waiting game better than anyone.
They will buy HZD in mass and will wait with a smile in their faces for part 2, my jaw will drop to the floor if one of them actually buys a PS5.
@RudeAnimat0r the people upset about this are usually the ones who engage in online message beefs gloating about exclusivity. Losing this game makes their fight harder. Of course not everyone on that side of the sense is a troll but many are. I mean, PS3 suffered drastically during its existence but I loved that machine to no end. It didn’t bother me that the competition was doing better. But that’s the attitude that many have; they enjoy the things they love more when only a few get to love it. They no longer belong to the club of a select few (million).
Lets look it that way. The new Ori game came out today. And its on all torrent/download sites. So please someone tell me how releasing something for the PC will motivate anyone to get a console if they can now just download it for free.
And since now they'll release one game, people that might consider buying a console, will just hold off and hope that future games will be released on PC at some point.
Sony just wants to make more money and doesnt really care about the value of the Playstation brand.
@CmShepard not that I’d not love to have free online play but what’s shady about charging for online play? Hell, for people like me it’s a great service. I don’t even buy that many games anymore because of the monthly PS+ games. It definitely would be nice to play free of charge but I honestly would still pay to get the monthly games.
And to be honest PS4 is so stacked with offline games that online really isn’t a must. There’s so much to enjoy outside of the online component. I dunno, I just don’t see what’s “shady” about a service that announces itself upfront and tells you what it’s all about. 🤷🏾♂️
What store will it be sold from epic steam or do they still have to get it from the ps store? If its the latter then it will still be ps exclusive?
@AhmadSumadi Shady as in it was free on playstation 3 and not on playstation 4.
They lump in games (which you don't really own unless you keep subscribing) with the paid online service to make it look better than it really is, online storage as well but personally have never cared about it.
Its cool if you like it though, just wish they made the online paid play separately and cheaper, I don't want the games or online storage.
Life isn't hard enough, people are getting upset over the most trivial things.
@makina Get over it the game is years old. Who knows maybe HZD2 Will be a launch title with the PS5. Maybe its the age but people can overreact so much now. Its on PC the next console wont probably be a box anyway it sucks but ill survive. Ill be playing DS now because there are bigger issues in life. 😆👌
@CmShepard They said it themselves it almost killed them its too expensive.
Every time I come here, I see Nintendo-bashing as though Sony fans have not already demonstrated that they are not above this fanboy entitlement themselves, whether it is being childishly angry about a HZD port to the PC or review bombing Astral Chain on Metacritic for being a Switch exclusive.
I own both systems and enjoy them for the exclusives, and while people said I could have easily bought some titles for Switch due to portability, some I still bought for PS4--The Witcher being one of them since I don't want to play on the road or do the cross-saves with the PC. I am happy when one console gets an exclusive and happy for the publisher when they can expand their audience for certain games (but not necessarily all).
Grow up and quit acting like you're above the toxic fanboy behavior as though it were just a Nintendo fan thing.
@beavis64
Good for you! But how does that PS+ subscription comment you tagged me in relate to what I said about people ditching the toxic fanboy behavior for Sony and not being above it just because they aren't Nintendo fans?
@beavis64 Money is not the point, I'm not paying for things I will never use.
Using "butthurt" in a news article. lmao. Shouldn't be surprised.
Still, silly reaction to the port but come on. This is trash news.
HAHAHA! THE TEARS AND THE HYPOCRISY HAS BEEN EXPOSED
@GKO900 Just get a Switch bro.
It was marketed as a first party exclusive and it should stay that way tbh.
Looks like Pushsquare went down a few notches in terms of respectable journalism.
The real story here is that some people, hilariously, thought that video was real. Come on now.
@InsertUsername
Agree. I expect this kind of crap from Polygon or Kotaku, not PushSquare.
If the game got ported to PC back in 2018 it'll be a different discussion but the game's already three years old.
@AdamNovice most companies who do pc ports have lowered there game quality.
Look at xbox.
@AdamNovice over 108+ million consoles strong this generation and you're worried about the health of PlayStation? I think his response is spot on. You have nothing to worry about. As he said now that the game has aged on the PlayStation platform now more people get to enjoy it.
Phew! After reading many of these comments I'm feeling very reassured that there really is a passionate group of fans of the Playstation(TM) brand who are looking out for Sony's long term interests. I was getting a bit worried about Sony's ability to make money, and I really want those guys to do well, so it's very heartening that there are so many great brand enthusiasts who are so engaged in their business strategy and articulating so cogently why this move might make less money for the company in the future. Save the shareholders!
@SaikoWaifu200 Please show me these mainstream hacks for consoles. I dont know of any hacks that can be easily applied to a ps4 so that millions of people are able to do it. With a PC it is a million times easier. Just because it's possible to do it on a ps4 dosnt mean is has the same impact as PC piracy does.
Love the people here though that always defend coporate decisions. Like they are never wrong. Just look at the $599 price tag when PS3 came out or Sonys failed attempt with Playstation Vue. Sony always makes the correct decisions and how dare people critizing them if they think this a wrong decision.
Fanboys are the worst. They act like sullen children over absolutely NOTHING.
@David187 doesn’t mean he should accept stupid myopic behaviour. He’s correct in my opinion. Doesn’t matter at all. People who don’t have a PlayStation can play one of the best open world games of this generation.
Why this is a bad thing boggles my mind.
@Akurusu why? Who does that benefit? Any experienced gamer knows that exclusivity is almost always timed.
Pandering to irrational babies is not what gaming needs.
@AG_Awesome I’d love to think that but a quick look at metacritic unfortunately dashes any hope.
Others getting to enjoy the game isn't the issue. MS said, before this gen started, they are looking to get out of hardware. That's one reason why in the first reveal for the xboxone they tried to sell it as an all in one entertainment box and ignored the gaming aspect. Since then, they have completely given up exclusivity, making buying their next gen console pointless.
Like many people, I have a gaming pc. If I can play all your games on that, I have no reason to touch your hardware. Thats why when MS went through w/ dropping exclusivity I just gave my 360 away.
Not having to buy more hardware is great. The question becomes; if these companies don't have to make sure their exclusives are great to sell their console, will they continue to make sure the games they develop are still generation defining? Looking at MS and Sega, their response so far has been a huge no.
@thefirst
'One thing I think we can all agree on, is that loud-mouth producers/developers/(insert job description) should know by now that insulting or patronising fans is not going to end well for them. Just shhhh... you’re not helping.'
Exactly. Thank you for that. In addition, it's always exploited by the press with the same strategy: blame gamers making them all look childish so they can push a one sided, self righteous opinion.
The virtue signalling social media urge follows naturally. Divide to rule is nothing new.
Edit
Instead, the press should encourage and try make the debate more responsible. What does it mean? To what extend should Sony go for? With what consequences? How to reassure (what should Sony do?) the fans? Etc
@kiki3400
Why did you buy a ps4 and not a xbox? Wasn't it because of the games you cant get on the xbox?
I think the sentiment comes from the fact that someone spent money on a console because they knew that was the only place to play the games in developers' catalogues and genres they care for. Only to then have them release games on another platform that will most likely offer a better experience on more powerful hardware.
Not everyone can afford to own multiple gaming platforms or capable PCs so they buy ONE platform and that's where they invest their limited time/funds.
Knowing you could have saved the money on your console purchase and put it towards say, a capable gaming rig, you could play those same console games at better frame rates with better visuals.
Also, if you purchased the game and you DO own a PC you're most certainly going to have to repurchase the game should you wish to play there.
I can play games anywhere. I a PS4, a Switch and a gaming PC. Why don't I own an Xbox? Don't need it. If Sony puts all of it's first party games on PC I won't need a PS console either.
It's one of my favorite games and everyone should get a chance to enjoy it. I wish I could say it amazes me anyone is ridiculously stupid enough to have a problem with this, but honestly, I get to see that level of idiocy every day.
@beavis64
Yeah, sure seems like it. Nice username btw—loved the 64 era and B&B.
I think it will be better if we views games we bought as transactional rather than emotional things, we bought games because we like it, rather than because it's exclusive, etc. The twitter discussion about horizon pc has been embarassing for fans
guerrilla is done after this, when horizon was released there was a very different times. not many did know about the sjw and feminists bs this game had in it. in 2020 no one is gonna pat them on the shoulders and say good job again for a sjw feminist bs game. because now people are aware and with them selling out to the pc crowd, its the nail in the coffin. killzone was guerrilla greatest games, rip guerrilla.
@CmShepard
Exactly. Just look at Xbox; it's still doing pretty damn well regardless that its games are also on PC. And yes, I know PS4 has sold more units than Xbox one, but that was the whole drm thing, something Sony too was going to adopt until they backed out after seeing the backlash Xbox recieved.
For real gamers, the ones that have mental issues, it doesn't matter if other people get to play the same games as we do. For us, it just adds more fans to the community, and more people to play with. I see it more of a positive than a negative.
Consoles, even without out true exclusives, will still have a market, as not everyone wants to play on a PC with the high price that usually comes with it or the small headaches that can pop up.
A large number of cheaters and hackers is another reason a lot of people will choose to not to game on PC and stick with consoles instead; that is the main reason I stopped playing on PC, as I play a lot of online multiplayer games and cheaters on PC just ruin your overall gaming experience immensely.
Consoles will always have a space in the gaming market as long as there are people that prefer to play on a convenient and simple plug in and play device with minimal headache.
Sega Megadrive/Genesis and NES games being on PC, MSX and Amiga didn't hurt those systems or make them less desirable to fans in the past, so why should Playstation and Xbox games going to PC make those systems less desirable. fanboys are not gamers, they are more of a cancer to the hobby.
@TheBuzz Sure, buddy. We'll see how the next game does and how "right" you are.
@TheBuzz Idiot.
@FesterinKadaver Cancer?!
FFS.
Sony will.do what they want to.of course and whilst I'm still planning on buying a PS5 news like this makes me feel.thst I may be better off saving for a PC. That way I'll have access to pretty much every game released (because if you think Horizon will be the only 'exclusive' to be ported to PC then you must be very naive!)
Apart from Nintendo but I don't care about their games or IPs do that doesn't matter.
I'm sure I'm not the only one be thinking this. It's a strange decision on Sony's party, icsng help but feel the damage to their brand is greater than the extra money they'll make from the port.
Time will tell.
Also, it's possible for one to express disappointment about this news without being triggered, or woke or whatever the hell you wish to call it. Some people on here need to take a look at themselves.
fanboys are STILL crying
guerrilla needs to fix aloys face for the next game, she is UGLY
@Col_McCafferty "Also, there aren't many AAA open world multiplatform games being made nowadays"
From where I'm sitting that's all they seem to make, WB games and Ubisoft virtually do nothing else and then there's Bethesda who are trying to turn all the games they publish into one of some kind.
@Col_McCafferty
These companies will do whatever they think will make them the most money, as that is the main reason they even got in this business in the first place. All these fanboys crying and making threats need to get a reality check. Their still going to be able to play with their favorite toy, it's just that other people will get to play with and enjoy that toy they love so much. And what's wrong with that?
As for Horizon Zero Dawn, I bought it at launch got the platinum and very much enjoyed it and I'm happy for others to enjoy it too, whether it be on another PS4, the PS5 or a PC. If all Playstation exclusives were day one on PC and PS4/5 I would still be buying them on my console as I do for all the multiplatform games that I buy because it's just much more convenient for me. For as much as people like to ignore, the Playstation brand was built upon third party games and not it's own games, even today all these PS1 classics being remade and being hugely successful are of third party games, yes there's been some great exclusives this gen in particular but Sony isn't going to vanish just by putting a 3 year old game on PC
Whilst this might of been acting, there is no doubt there are a few idiots out there that genuinely believe that Horizon Zero Dawn going to PC is blasphemy.
Literally, at this point, who cares, everyone who has wanted to play Horizon on PS4 has played it at this point, no harm in throwing a dog a bone after the meats been had....
Ok so first off it's going to PC not Xbox I would understand if it was Xbox and people were pissed. I was pissed that they didn't keep Crash and Spyro as PS exclusives would have driven PS sale through the roof. However, PC is better than both PS4 and Xbox mainly because the hardware is customizable. But we should not be against PC since we a have one... We all might not have a gaming PC but a PC is a PC...
I don't really care either way, but if porting games to PC, why not to the other consoles?
@stuzster thanks. I think I made it up. Never heard it before.
@ThroughTheIris56 because the other consoles are their competition. People aren’t buying PC because they’re choosing them over PlayStations. But that is why they’d buy an Xbox or Switch.
@KillerLiller12 see, this is my line of thinking as well. So many say “losing an exclusive is the beginning of the end and it sets precedent...” What precedent is losing Horizon: Zero Dawn setting when Spyro, Crash, Final Fantasy, etc. were lost exclusives decades ago? Did losing those huge tittles kill PlayStation? Nope! They just make new exclusive titles. This most certainly isn’t the first PS game to lose exclusivity and it most certainly won’t kill the console. As we lose 1 3-year-old xclusive we learn of Ghosts Of Tsushima and Godfall. 🤷🏾♂️
@Murray yes. And you still can’t get them on XBOX. No one’s buying a PC because of a console title. This isn’t some sporadic thing that Sony decided to do just to piss people off.
So Last Of Us got a remake / redo / rehash and all the PS4 fans paid a second time, but bring a 3 year old game to a new audience, to make "new" money... every one goes apes**t...
The internet is an amusing place...
Alot of people are going to have to come to terms with that eventually consoles as we know it will be a thing of the past , and the new model will be Netflix like subscription services .
As technology becomes more advanced everyday , its going to be so difficult keeping studios open when games are getting too costly to make.
With Horizon Zero Dawn , I think sony is using the game as a marketing tool to try to get pc users to subscribe to Playstation Now for Next Gen .
It used to be before Console Sales were super important , but now the focus has shifted to Memberships and subscription services .
People might joke and laugh about Microsoft 41 million userbase , but if you looked at their last investors meeting , microsoft posted profits thanks to Xbox game pass .
I still much prefer consoles at the end of the day , but in the end its the games that matter most to me .
People are nuts. Horizon was one of my favourite games of this gen. An absolute gem. Surely it's a good thing that more people will now get to experience it
@leucocyte @nessisonett If either of those were the context here, we'd have a far more interesting story on our hands
@Juanalf I have about 2,000 games in my Steam Library, the full array of Blizzard titles on their launcher, Stardock's stuff on their launcher, and a further 354 in my GOG library. There is no way I'm buying a console (that comes pre-loaded with obsolete hardware before it even hits retail) for any game, especially not with the industry rumored price tag for the PS5 Pro model hitting the $800 mark and my PC still having better performance specs than the 11Tflop PS5, including much higher resolutions, frame rates, and monitor refresh rates, all of this while still being able to reap benefits of using the input devices of my choice in the case of couch co-op.
@ArcadeHeroes I hate the idea of this though. Not owning my own library of games.
I think this won't happen, because whilst Netflix is a service, movies are still consumed as a purchase through blu-ray. People like to collect and own their own movies.
People in general like to have something that is theirs, not something they rent. The subscription service for gaming will be a thing (it already is) I can't see it ever being the only thing. There will be an offshoot, but i think it will remain as it is, so long as there is a demand for trade, and for owning physical media.
The fanboyism is strong in this comment section
@SaikoWaifu2003
I refuse to call people I don't know 'fanboy'.
I feel sorry 'professional's dealing with customers, fan base etc resort to this name calling..
It's poor thinking, narrow minded, intolerant, often projecting,, and to be frank, idiotic.
Take this video in the article. It's just a meme. A joke. Like in January people were going about WWIII.
It's not representative at all of ps gamers who are confused or misinformed.
Edit
And to paraphrase PushSquare, it's silly to get worked up over this sort of meme or other overreaction.
Bunch of crybabies smh
And to make matters worse you have people trying to defend this pathetic fanboy behavior.
Only 10% of ps4 owners actually bought the game if sony wants to make more $$$ off of something they wrked hard on by selling it on another platform good for them. They can use that money to fund a sequel. The cost to develop these games aren't cheap.
We are all for supporting game developers. As long as it suits us and is on our terms! 🤔
HZD is a fantastic game and I am glad the PC gamer community are going to have an opportunity to experience it.
@SaikoWaifu2003
Wait WAIT
Where do you get that I'm offended'?
It's the other way round man. clear your mind. The tweet is clearly someone offended by this video.
People are discussing here. My comment seem to be 'offended'?
Ridiculous!!!
@SaikoWaifu2003
For the record. People are trying to discuss and exclusives going to pc. It's a fair debate. You seem to misunderstand
@SaikoWaifu2003
No that was in reply to your comment. My position is I dislike the 'fanboy name calling
I think there is a balance to be struck personally.
If all first party titles are migrating to PC or a streaming service at the same time (or close too) as they are release on a PlayStation then my immediate thought is "why do I need a PS5, I'll just upgrade my PC.
If, as is the case here, a 3 year old game is getting a release on other platforms, then I still see great value in owning a PlayStation and its great that the devs and Sony get another revenue stream for the game.
@SaikoWaifu2003
It's your right if you like name calling. I m sure it's toxic and doesn't bring anything to a discussion. Besides, I was 17 when I learned the hard way what it is to be a man. Point is you don't know the person your calling that way.
@Col_McCafferty so you are one of them sjw cancel culture supporters, that cry on twitter all day when people have a different opinion than you. i think we know who the real idiot are here.
@GKO900
Learn how to use punctuation.
Everything you said is wrong (I think. It's hard to follow without punctuation.).
Don't be dumb.
It is mind-blowingly stupid to be upset over this. Wow. Just... Wow.
Holy moly donut shops Batman! This comment section...
Okay, so yakuza 0 released on xbox last week. And all the kingdom hearts games were released on xbox the week before that and now we see zero dawn & death stranding releasing on pc. And now rumors about god of war releasing on pc too. At this point I predict spider-man will have a pc release eventually since sony owns insomniac now. In my opinion sony is starting to look like Microsoft more and more everyday.
The sense of entitlement in those complaining about this, is as sickening as it is hilarious.
The revenue alone that this pc port will generate will make HZD 2 all the better and you can bet your ass that PS5 will be the only place to play it for a number of years too. Add in the fans of the series it will add to PlayStation™ and you have a win-win, well apart from you moaning losers that is.
@The_FastLife To be fair to Sony, Yakuza 0 and Death Stranding are both produced by third-parties (Sega and Kojima Producitons respectively). Yakuza has appeared on Wii U of all places before and Death Stranding was originally confirmed to be coming to PC a long time ago anyway (the only caveat is the engine belongs to Guerrilla Games who is first party). I don't begrudge third parties as much since they have to do what they have to do.
Horizon Zero Dawn on the other hand which is first party...
@Col_McCafferty yeah exactly!
If it's a lower budget game, I get it. Concrete genie would be an example of a game they could test the markets with. Franchise flagships should not be. This goes for Dreams too, Dreams can possibly be one of the greatest generators any studio has produced to date. If It is only found on PlayStation it would pull people in. But that's my two cents on this issue.
@SaikoWaifu2003
From the business side of things, I don't think it's great to call fans out. If I were running a company and my employees were taking to twitter to belittle people they disagree with, it'd be grounds for some kind of reprimand. Especially if they were dumb enough to believe something as obviously fake as that video. Now responding to people making threats? That's another story, but again Twitter isn't the way to handle it.
Everybody is entitled to their own opinions. I think if you're a company that makes a piece of hardware and your'e trying to sell it, the best way is through first party exclusives (I do hate third party exclusives, timed or full). I should be allowed to express that, respectfully, and expect the same back especially from somebody who profited off my day one, full price purchase, even if somebody disagrees. I've just had to deal with a ton of idiots from the PC gaming community so my view on them right now is as bad as it is for the Ponies, Bots and Nintendrones.
@Ken_Kaniff If you are okay waiting for 3yrs for a port then ok. To each they're own. I for one played and loved it back 2017 and it doesnt hurt me if it goes to PC. I get the argument tho, but as long as it's a long enough period of exclusivity (2yrs at least) I think it's ok. Mind you I dont want this to happen with EVERY Playstation game.
@Gamer83 I hear you, at least this guy is an EX GG employee so its not current Playstation Devs responding.
All PlayStation games will come to PC eventually via emulation!
They figured they'd make some money on it before they get to that stage.
@3Above
True. I think people who are genuinely concerned (and haven't crossed the line into some nonsense that unfortunately happens online) have a right to be a little annoyed with this response but it would be unfair to take it out on people currently working for GG by not buying Horizon 2 or whatever else they make.
@Triplexbee Without the pc port Horizon 2 would have been much improved, another weird talking point. The success from horizon zero dawn has been known for years, so a pc port will not do much.
There is a healthy way to raise concern about Sony's strategy and an unhealthy way.
Ranting and raving is unhealthy.
Then again, the internet lives off melodrama.
@SaikoWaifu2003
Thing is your missing the point of the article. The person you go on about is only an accessory to generalise an idiotic video and paint a certain group of people that way to dismiss them.
Generalisation is lame. Not everyone is crazy.
@Ken_Kaniff
You would be willing to wait 3 years? Get a grip. It's a game.
@MS7000 True points! I am happy more people get to play it, I gave it another go this week, I knew I enjoyed it but really forgot just how good it feels!
But honestly, if they did like Microsoft did, why even buy a PlayStation? I see no point in getting an XBOX. I can play any XBOX exclusive on my PC, with all the gamertag and achievement points and friends lists right there. If Sony started releasing all their exclusives on PC, gave PC full trophy support and still gave me discounts and free games with PS+, but all on PC? I'd switch easily. There are tons of ways to get your games running from your PC to your big TV now.
So yeah, more people get to play it that's cool, but the big pictures of exclusives going to PC could mean why even get the next system?
Futures headed there anyway, Stadia may not be causing a raging storm, and Now is losing support... but the ideas and that they work can only get better. With Wifi improving, 5g now, better connections.... we very well could be entering into a streaming age coupled with all PlayStation games/trophies/friends on PC, just download the PlayStation Storefront today!
What's wrong with him then believing videos like that?!?! Of course most of the comments are from people who don't even own a PlayStation! But saying that i don't think it should go to PC to :-/ Is the PlayStation brand going to get like the Xbox brand soon? If you want to enjoy this brilliant game then - BUY A PLAYSTATION THEN!!!
@SaikoWaifu2003 the whole ecosystem gets affected not about playing a game your money for this game will do nothing to the long term damage on dedicated hardware.
@Arnna It benefits the company. Exclusives combined with good third party support sell systems no matter how you put it. Xbox One has good third party support but how many exclusives? The Wii had both and it sold really well. Now The Wii U had some good exclusives, but what about the third party support? No one would buy consoles if it wasn’t for exclusives. The Switch also has both and it’s probably at the 55 million mark right about now.
The point is. Exclusives should stay exclusives and if someone wants to play them they should just save up for said console and shut up. I wanted Bloodborne, did I nag to FS? Nope, I got a PS4 and have been enjoying its exclusives ever since.
I ❤ Epic, more people get to play games on PC.
@AhmadSumadi They're buying PCs for a multitude of reasons, certain games only being on PC is one of them. The same logic is more or less the same across all platforms, it just gives PC owners less of a reason to buy a Playstation, especially since this is a sign that more exclusives will follow.
Damn. The way I look at it is if a game is great let everyone get a shot if they want it. I bought this game at launch and got the complete edition for $9.99 from amazon on black friday last year. It's dirt cheap and a great game so let everyone get a shot at playing it. It had it's time let others have a shot.
I want to play Shin Megami Tensei V. I don't want it just on the switch. I want to play otogi 1 and 2 remastered on PS4 and PC. Not just on the Xbox. I understand the need for exclusives but if the game is old and dirt cheap what the hell man? Who's buying a PS4 now for Bloodborne at $10? Get real. Sell it on PC for $60 and get some coin.
“What do you mean ‘you people’?”
@MS7000 yeah, you make some good points. I totally forgot about the Wii u release. It also released on microsoft windows in 2018 according to wiki. My physical copy of yakuza 0 says "PS4 CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE GAME" I really wish they would stop doing that if it's a timed exclusive. also, i stand by my prediction that spider-man is coming to pc eventually. My physical copy of spider-man says "Only On PlayStation" which will be a lie if it launches on pc. And I bet when final fantasy 7 reboot launches it will also have the "only on playstation" wording on the box. When it's a 1 year timed exclusive. (I think)
Both PushSquare and Sam Sharma miss the point terribly. @MS7000 is spot on. The point is not others that don't have a PS4 getting to buy the game, but how the PS console loses value as a result.
Can't wait until someone mods Norman Reedus & a motorbike into the game (which won't be hard thanks to DS). It'll be The Walking Dead with robots😁😁
Sammy poo stiring as usual.
@naruball You still stalking me?, get some help and move on.
@The_FastLife Yakuza and Kingdom Hearts aren't Sony games, God of War isn't rumoured its a bunch of people wondering and nothing else.
Umm yea dude. The last guy already clerified that yakuza is not exclusive. (Even tho my copy of yakuza 0 says it is) and certain kingdom heart games WERE exclusive for a time.(yes i know the DS had a couple of hearts games but not all of them) and as for "it's a bunch of people wondering and nothing else" is the definition of a rumor....
@WallyWest
@ArmyofOne That would actually be pretty awesome, but just seeing Days Gone running on a 2080Ti will be amazing.
3080 series to be announced this year as well.
@Akurusu “No one would buy consoles if not for exclusive games”
Is this a joke? This isn’t even plausibly true.
@SaikoWaifu2003
Again you dont understand. It has nothing to do with supposedly being 'offended'. Its about expressing that theres nothing wrong with people being confused or somehow worried about exclusives going to pc. It's too easy to dismiss them focusing on the crazy side of it.
I dont understand why you seem to have a problem with people expressing their opinion and calling that 'being offended'.
My goodness! "butthurt"? I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was on Twitter.
Learn some professionalism please!
What kind of article is this? is this kotaku?, the players are mad for a reason. I don't have a problem with a game being on all platforms but when the game has been in ps4 for 3 years, it's still there for a reason. I have mix feelings about this to be honest.
People confuse pc for competition to console. It's not and xb is already cashing in on it. I hope this is a sign that ps sees what xb managed to do right this gen. All exclusives should go to pc. Its in the best interest of pc gamers, ps gamers, and ps themselves. I just want the games to launch first on ps so that devs arent distracted by pc, and give us well optimized games. Moment last of us 2 is out and patched enough, by all means get started on a pc port and release it asap. More money for devs and ps to thrive.. and in the case of mp games way more gamers for us to play online with and exclusives arent so quickly doomed to dead lobbies.
If u prefer console like me, it doesnt matter if games r on pc.. ur still getting a console.. and ur still getting the one with the games u want. Horizon didnt go to nintendo or xb.. halo didnt go to ps or nintendo. Ur still gona choose ps5 and ps6 if ur a ps fan.. and xb if ur an xb fan.. so will millions of others and consoles wont stop getting made when there is high demand.
If u prefer pc, u already get 3rd party games on pc so lack of a console purchase wont hurt ps or xb. U still buy the same games from them, only now for the device ud rather use which is convenient and cost effective for u.
With play anywhere, everyone wins except the people who r too stupid to realize they won at all haha
It's a smart business move to release a 3-5 year old game on a different platform that doesn't really compete all that much with your platform. I mean think about it.
HZD has gone through it's sales life cycle. It's essentially dead at this point from a sales perspective, like all games once they're on the market for years.
You can move it to PC after a few years, bada boom bada bing, you got a few more copies moved to an eager audience that would otherwise not have ever played the game, or purchased your platform.
Easy money. PS4 gamers, by majority, have already bought and played it, and more people get to play now.
And I mean... You can just get a PC because the PS4 or 5 doesn't have any "exclusives" (hahaha), but you'll be waiting literal years to play. If that's you, then good on you.
PS fans aren't going to wait that long to play TLOU 2 or GoT... I sure as **** ain't.
Don't understand why people are complaining to be honest; it's not like Sony is releasing them same day on PC like Microsoft. lol
@SaikoWaifu2003
People who believe in exclusives arent necessarily fanatics and nobody is 'grieving'
Ok I see your trying to be provocative (calling everyone fanboy) and discussion is impossible. If you refuse to see people can think differently then maybe your being yourself a fanatic?
Happy gaming anyway. I dont know about you but I've had enough of this topic now haha
@SaikoWaifu2003
'As for if more exclusives are going to get ported, we'll never know, but for these people's sake I'd like to see Sony making things clearer regarding platform exclusivity or lack thereof in the future.'
And this is exactly what people are discussing about. Not just about one old game. I hope you understand now.
@SaikoWaifu2003
Its about the purpose of exclusive games. Whether your believe in it or think its 'anti consumer's and what not is a different debate.
This is just creating confusion on where Sony position stands now and THAT is what's annoying.
@JJ2 Don't waste your time man. It's plain obvious from past statements that Saiko is PC biased, so he/she will never see (or don't want to see) mainly console players perspective.
I've seen my share of those kind of people (that later on had a hard-on the terminology of ''PcMasterRace'') since 1998, that sang doom and gloom on console gaming in general, and felt dead inside when their wishes about that were not fullfilled. Exclusives themselves bother them, since they know they don't have that experiance on PC side of things.
Not to mention that the ''superiority'' they have in multiplatform games is diminishing as years go by. Just look at most multiplat games PC vs console comparisons, and you will see besides 60+FPS that the graphical gap is getting smaller and smaller...and pisses them off, but still cling to those small near-unnoticable differences, and say PC version is superior experiance (when in truth its almost the same). That gap will get even smaller next gen.
The only true call-card they often used was mods, and they were really pissed of by the thought console were getting them aswell with Bethesda games only to be relieved by the fact that not all of them are coming to console (look up old Bethesda mod forums).
Tl;dr just ignore those sort of people, most of them are strong attention seekers crying ''Look at how superior i am'' and seeking for more bragging rights, when in truth they have low confidence in their purchase choices or are infuriated by the fact that people have the same kind of enjoyment on ''inferior machines''... and if console gaming would have died tommorow they would not give two F-s about it, hell they would probably celebrate it.
So Microsoft & Nintendo are allowed to test their IP on other devices, but Sony isn't? What's wrong with Guerrilla Games / Sony making some extra money to put towards their next games? They are effectively doing some marketing by showing PC players what they are missing, 3 years after the intial release on PS4.
@get2sammyb Update the article with a follow back from the sad fanboy where he claims this has all been a farce. It's still a sad thing to do, but that's not even his room.
https://twitter.com/THEAP99/status/1237749901704024064
@DominatorV93
Yea I agree I dont want consoles and playstation in particular to die. There are many advantages to have exclusives (going to get some virtue signalling flak there) but its all a very different debate. I'm glad gamers make a fuss even if sometimes in a silly or crazy way. Im not really too worried now but at least the noise sends some feedback that Sony needs to be very careful on the matter.
I like HH but now I'm wondering if he sees the devs interest more than console gamers. Devs want their games to reach as many people as possible no doubt.
@JJ2 Time will only tell. It's still a possibility Horizon:Zero dawn (cuz of decima engine) and maybe Dreams will be the only games they will port to PC. If so the damage to the console gaming will be quite minimal long-term.
We shall wait and see how it plays out, tho to my own dissapointment, i changed my mind about PS5 from ''Day one purchase'' to ''I will wait 2-3 years''.
Butthurt PlayStation fanboys being butthurt for getting called butthurt.
Video was made years ago and has nothing to do with Horizon. Was a giant troll. You can check his Twitter and you can see original date of video post. Here is link to his twitter post showing original post in 2018 having nothing to do with game
https://twitter.com/THEAP99/status/1238582856299024385?s=20
@SaikoWaifu2003
Drawing distances, LoD, particle effects, shadow quality, foliage, anisotropic filtering, etc etc etc are all things that put PCs aside from consoles.
''...and pisses them off, but still cling to those small near-unnoticable differences, and say PC version is superior experiance (when in truth its almost the same). ''
Yup, textbook.
And no, i experienced even 90+ FPS on some modern games, and by no means makes it an eye sore going back to 60 or 30 FPS. But i also stated ''Besides 60FPS'' meaning that i aknowledge that 60FPS is noticable.
My biggest regret of possibly going back to mainly PC gaming is sharing the same ecosystem with the same PC snobs, (if the worse case scenario does happen).
@SaikoWaifu2003
Because you're too used to console graphics so I won't blame you, but when next gen consoles do something like ray tracing you think that Sony just discovered quantum mechanics.
''That gap will get even smaller next gen {...}when in truth they have low confidence in their purchase choices or are infuriated by the fact that people have the same kind of enjoyment on ''inferior machines'' which again pisses them off.''
Textbook yet again.
@SaikoWaifu2003
And you are a case of textbook peasantry.
i could eat a bowl of alphabet soup and excrete a smarter and certainly more original insult, than that. But then again, maybe originality is not your strong suit, since you are so easy to follow the PCMasterrace banter.
Putting that ''statement'' behind...
Gaps can be narrowed at the start of the gen but everything will widen again.
That gap is getting smaller at the start, and by default so will the later stages in comparison to previous gens. Hell there will even come a time 10+ years from today, when graphics and FPS will be nearly indistinguishable from one another...but that's the streaming era that i hope will not come soon.
How are the multiplats on the PS4 still holding up? Are you telling me that games released in the past two years have 'narrowing differences' with those on the PC?
Make that last 3-4 years, and no the gap is not certainly getting smaller for this gen, but it is maintaining it balance to a degree. As for how the multiplats are holding up, the uncompressed screenshots and videos on DF speak for themselves. Again the difference is there, but by no means huge.
Also you did not answer my question...
Perhaps because you have edited your response?
{...} if consoles are already offering so much, why do you still feel the need to hold onto exclusives?
I could name a couple of reasons, but in this case i like to use one:
Exclusives always use the consoles fullest potential, and are in most cases the innovation tech-level leaders in gaming industry. Making them mutliplats, will most certainly diminish that long term, since it means less budget and especially less time for developers to push the same level of quality on multiple platforms, instead of one. Which ties into your next statement...
I hope all PC exclusives go to the PS4 as well as all the other consoles tomorrow. Can you say the same thing about your precious exclusives going to PC?
I absolutely can not say the same thing. I can name you maybe 1 or two (RTS) PC games exclusives in last 8 years that i would like to come to consoles, but even those are not the same high caliber as the Playstation exclusives, and trust me if there were the same sort of high quality exclusives on PC, i would have not be gaming mainly on consoles for the past 20+ years. A sentiment many console gamers share.
If not I think I know what you really think deep down, and I think it's clear who "have low confidence in their purchase choices" and need to rely on software exclusives to make them want to buy the hardware.
Again, originality is not your strong suit.
Time to listen to my own advice, and go our separate ways. And remember, a person that trully has high confidence in their purchase choices will never so strongly defend it. I most certainly did have high confidence, until these recent Playstation news.
@SaikoWaifu2003 that is why Sony caving to cater to gamers who care about just getting what they want is a bad move.
@3MonthBeef why the hell would you want Mario on Playstation he belongs on Nintendo systems simple as that I guarantee the ones who see this as a bad move, in the long run, did not think that for a second! it would be the beginning of the end for Nintendo.
not seen anyone port begging Mario around here?
@SaikoWaifu2003 you think this is about a game that was always there I have been around long enough to see what happens when console makers lose their identity they are not needed any more & become bankrupt.
Sony will always be around but not making much money Playstation division won't.
you do not care you get to play a game. & please stop with childish fanboy crap & that silly butthurt rubbish I care about PlayStation being here in 10 years' time you're worried about playing a game again.
you sound like you were born in 2003 to so let's leave it there with rude replys to people above as well.

She just seeks attention.
@DominatorV93 I hear that👍 why I left last reply blank.
@AdamNovice unless you are a shareholder for Sony or a PlayStation executive you don't lose anything why do you care?
@carlos82 you are correct but it may not remain to be years later soon it may be day and date releases which I don't mind, but you know people are gonna whine about that.
