Re: 'We Have Many More Stories to Tell with Kratos': Sony Confirms New Games with God of War's Protagonist

Haruki_NLI

@RoomWithaMoose Its also telling one of the biggest complaints about Nintendo for a long time was ignoring older IP and not doing much exciting with the ones they were using. Mario and Zelda were stuck in a rut, albeit very good games, but not really doing much new. Then we got Breath of the Wild, Wonder and Odyssey. They dived into older games and remade them, or made long overdue sequels like with 2D and 3D Metroid, bringing back F-Zero, Advance Wars, Star Fox, finally making Kirby 3D....Splatoon existing.

Never forget people bemoaned Kirby Star Allies for just being another 2D Kirby, for Tears of the Kingdom just being BOTW again, for not doing anything new with Donkey Kong.

If the complaints about this being the third game of this style of God of War in....8 years are new, then PlayStation gets off easy. Not a day goes by where someone doesnt bemoan Nintendo not pumping out a new exciting 3D Mario, or reinventing Zelda again.

Re: Xbox Will Show PS5 Logos at Showcase, But May Adjust Moving Forward as Execs Publicly Contradict Each Other

It's funny how companies just function without a level of communication at the top. It's the same where I work in retail, they just put out a "bible" of what the stores are meant to look like.

Half of it is illegal food storage, the other half is new store layouts that are contradicted by the strict plans for departments they send out that "must be followed".

Or people in the same room failing to communicate in distribution. It's legendarily bad.

So I can believe this. Completely.

Re: Sudden Steam Deck Price Increase Pins More Questions on PS6

Haruki_NLI

It's funny that the article states no company is willing to eat a $100+ loss per console, when Nintendo confirmed their $50 price increase wasn't inclusive of all the new costs they face which means yes they are taking that loss.

I also would say Sony is as well, which is a bit horrific to think about, though probably not by as much as Nintendo. They also have 4 months notice, Sony and Xbox gave less than a week and Valve just....didn't give any.

Valve has no room or reason to subsidise hardware (despite owning Steam) as their devices aren't locked to just Steam. It's the same problem Xbox will seemingly face if Helix is open.

But seriously, someone burst the bubble already. There's no way the Switch 2 at $500 is the budget option here.

Re: Rumour: Dragon Quest Has Multiple Major Reveals Lined Up for Its Big Day This Week

@TheEnygma @Number09 While DQB3 would be amazing, it's not likely to happen. That team broke ties with SquareEnix under burnout, and then spent many years working on Pokopia, which for all intents and purposes is DQB3 Pokémon Edition, but given plenty of time to stew in the oven.

If they do a proper Builders 3, it almost certainly won't be with that team, or potentially even Koei Tecmo at all.

Re: Is This Our First Glimpse of PS6? Rocket League for Unreal Engine 6 Surprise Teased

Haruki_NLI

@AI-Generation UE5 CAN do good stuff, Yoshi just got released as a UE5 game for instance but it's a very focused type of game, that knows what it wants and what the engine can do on a single piece of hardware.

Most developers throw everything at the wall across multiple platform targets and it ends up a bit of a jumble sale of poor performance and muddy visuals because they felt like they had to use everything the engine offers.

As much as I hate Tim Sweeney he was right last year when he said developers need to build from the floor up and not the ceiling down.

Re: Poll: Sony's Killing Its PS5 PC Ports - But Do You Agree with Its Decision?

Haruki_NLI

Hilariously, as Ratchet and Clank was the reason I bought a PS5, and god knows when the next one is coming out, I have no reason to buy a PS6, because Sony only has one or two franchises left I give a crap about. And I'm not paying the rapidly rising prices for the privilege. Id rather use my already existing ship of Theseus PC I already have that also plays the third party games.

Same would happen with Nintendo if they culled off most of their franchises. If you don't make what I want to play, I ain't coming, and it makes no financial sense to buy a device for one or two things.

Re: 'Human Creativity Must Remain at the Centre': Sony Talks AI within PlayStation

Haruki_NLI

For now. As they adopt it more and more, they themselves are contributing to the problem leading to rising prices and this the cycle continues.

And eventually someone in Sony will pull a Jim Ryan, have a great idea, and start pushing for AI to replace staff because that's where the money is, just like live service pushes.

And if you told me they were doing this to make development easier, quicker, and hopefully cheaper, I call BS, because you can't tell me these studios have implemented it and STILL can't get multiple games out per generation surely?

Re: PS5 Game Expiry DRM Potentially Explained, Sony Still Yet to Comment

Haruki_NLI

@Futureshark My PS5 hasn't been plugged in since October 2024. I don't even know what firmware it's on.

And as for the Internet, my fibre is still down. Logged it with BT two weeks ago....repeatedly....still nothing, so still running on my phones 4G connection.

So yeah, it's rare, but this does happen. And it does suck.

Re: PS4 Game Expiry Timer Sparks DRM Concerns, Here's What We Know So Far

Haruki_NLI

@PercyChuggs Hey, you just described me!

I haven't plugged my PS5 Digital Edition (2020 model, what a bargain!) in since late 2024.

Further, our Internet cables got cut over a week ago I'm currently running on my phones 4G and that isn't fast enough for downloading or playing games online anyway. At least until BT come and fix it.

So yeah, let's say, hypothetically, this was real, and it was the worst case scenario of license revocation, then my library just got wiped.

As it stands, it's probably a glitch....that comes with its own UI anyway, but it's still food for thought that the capability is even there at all.
