There’s already been one adventure based on YouTuber Angry Video Game Nerd, but given his catalogue of content, we suppose an 8-Bit outing makes sense. This release will actually be available physically on an NES cartridge courtesy of Limited Run, but if you can’t be arsed with original hardware, then the PS5 and PS4 versions should suffice.
The trailer mentions that interspersed throughout the action, you’ll find various FMV cutscenes hosted by AVGN host James Rolfe which will make you feel like you’re playing an episode of the show.

Here’s what the blurb says:
“Journey through multiple levels inspired by the Angry Video Game Nerd universe, and blast away at enemies themed around each level! Slide below platforms, pick up power-ups, and take alternate routes to get to the boss room!”
The game’s due out on 23rd October.
One thing worth mentioning here is that the game has been developed by Mega Cat Studios, the same team rumoured to be working on God of War’s unannounced Metroidvania adaptation.

How does it have FMV cutscenes if its also fully playable on an NES?
@Haruki_NLI it’s all made possible through the power of 🌈LJN
The FMV cutscenes alone make this worth buying lol. It's basically an AVGN episode lodged inside a game, so I might as well play it.
Also, what timeline do we live in where the company that's supposedly making a God of War Metroidvania is also working on an AVGN game?
Any word on what the buffalo taking a diarrhea dump in his ear will look like in 8-bit graphics? And what of the sequence where the Nerd eats out the rotten you-know-what of a roadkill skunk, then downs it with beer (and does he then eat the rotten you-know-what itself afterward)?
I appreciated him having GWAR on recently. He needs to shave the head. Dream's over, man.
@Balaam_ Ha! The other week I was at a supermarket and saw a car's license plate where the last three letters were LJN (UK license plate). I scoffed out loud and everyone in the car asked me what was up - spent the next minute or so trying to explain the legacy and reputation of LJN's NES games but no one seemed to get it or why I would even care... 🤣
Looking forward to this. I loved AVGN's previous 16-bit style game - it was really good. Every reason to hope this will be the same!
I really enjoyed the other AVGN games and have been playing the demo of this on Steam and it's a day one purchase for me. Crazy to think I've now been watching AVGN for nearly 20 years and the show (on YouTube) is older than those NES games were back at the beginning of it. He's actually one of the main reasons I ever watched YouTube for a very long time
I have no idea who this is
@Balaam_ Laughing Joking Numbnuts
@PegasusActual93 no, I just dont spend my time watching youtubers , also im not interested in games I played decades ago.
