Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Adds Persona 5 Protagonist as Sales Top 1 Million Units

Its such a missed opportunity not having new courses for the Sega characters. Even more so for Persona which even has Mementos or a Palace right there for a Crossworlds course

Is one million for first month really that good? Sonic is SEGA's biggest brand after all, and Mario Kart sells in 10s of millions..

Wanted this game to be good so badly, but alas it's just too chaotic (no pun intended) to be fun.

@Stepan It's good for Sonics and Sega standards. Remember these guys consider 2 million units a success which for Playstation and Nintendo First parties would be considered disappointing.

@cainhurst94 Right, but seeing these numbers, I can't help but think how new Crazy Taxi would fare - not as big name as Sonic, but the project seems even more ambitious and would require solid online player base to succeed. And I don't know if that's in SEGA's Power [Surge].

@Stepan Already said but Sega does consider 1 million copies to be pretty good for Sonic games especially in terms of spin-offs. I would probably assume they're expecting this to be a title with good legs, just as most of their other Sonic games are so it'll probably get higher as the holiday season rolls in

The last sonic racing game had its sales leaked way back and apparently sold 3.5 million lifetime and did 1.3 of that in its 1st year. While this one has done 1m in its 1st month. Not to mention the last one was a $40 game while this is $70. I'd say it's doing amazing as long as it has legs

Also I'm a bit miffed the p5 soundtrack only has 2 songs lol. You'd think with Miku having like 5 or 6 tracks in there, they could get more for an ip they truly own themselves lol

@cainhurst94 I remember when Breath of the Wild had to sell 2m units to break even and be profitable after 7 years of dev time.

It's western developers who have the issues with unrealistic expectations.

@cainhurst94 Most Nintendo first-party releases seem like successes when they hit 1 million, as far as Nintendo is concerned. If we're talking mainline/major sub-series Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, or Pokemon, 1 million would be a disappointment. But something like Metroid or Pikmin is likely at least considered worthwhile at 1 million units sold.

I think Nintendo cares a lot more about releasing evergreen titles and keeping prices up rather than first month sales, honestly.

Anyways I hope this game hits the 5M milestone over the lifetime, but I think the price tag is a tad bit high right now.

@CielloArc astro bot sales were announced in the financial calls. Probably going to be the same for Yotei. Playstation has always been weird about sharing sales data. Like we don't know how GT7 has sold.
