In addition to announcing the livestream, the team has also shown off the game’s box art, which is what you’ll see on digital storefronts when you go to download it.
As a reminder, this is a live service game set in an online open world, where you’re able to complete quests and place props to trick to your heart’s content. It’ll be interesting to see what the reception is like to this one, and whether fans get on board with the business model.

Free to play? Okay, what’s the catch…
We're today announcing the announcement of the release date of the pre-release period of our live service game with no release date.
Just be a good sandbox that’s all I ask. And have the insane bail physics and flips and stuff, that was the best part of Skate 3.
Skate 4 or no deal.
@Mr_Singh All of the decks, trucks, wheels, shoes, and clothes you want to put on your character probably cost money lol
@Mr_Singh It’ll probably be a Fortnite-esque battle pass type situation. Different cosmetics and whatnot.
This might just be the first free to play I'll download in a long while. Played the heck out of Skate. back in the day. It was a bit hardcore trying to pull off the moves but as satisfying as beating a FromSoft enemy when you were successful.
They ruined it with micro transactions and always online 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
@Majin_Deicide Ironically, that’s the best solution to stop the game from being delisted, have the brands be on an individual pay scheme and rotate them in and out to avoid licensing issues down the line. I would not spend a penny but I hope there’s some way to save up in game money solely just to see if I can recreate my irl board that I’m terrified of since smashing the f**k out of my elbow months ago.
@Mr_Singh Same as it ever was. If it is successful or not, it will get extortionate and then die unceremoniously while everyone tells EA how they should've done it. And most likely, those people will be right.
@nessisonett I'm guessing that they won't understand that the players who've made insane videos of Skate 3 to kind of spread the word were doing it because the physics were so nuts, and they will instead take the message that players want an easier way to share on SM.
I've been playing pre-alpha for a while. It's basically just cosmetics you pay for. The map is fantastic and there are loads of cool spots. I really enjoy it for what it is.
Ah yes, the good old announcement for an announcement.....if you know the release date already just show it..... whats the point in announcing this announcement a day before??
A reactive isn't it bringing this out just because tony hawk's recently had a reboot!
Be a leader not a follower!
Sessions and Skater XL kind of filled the void of a sim skater games years ago this maybe a waste of time.

@B0udoir Honestly a decent way of doing it, especially if it’s solid wood given the cheaper brands skimping on wood is a sure fire way to really badly injure yourself. The first thing I look for in these games though are Independent trucks, brand loyalty is a powerful thing! I was surprised to see my wheels were in THPS 3+4 though given they’re mostly for cruising.
