The main bulk of my weekend will be Trails Of Cold Steel 1 on PS4 for the first time. On my first field study and it's quite enjoyable so far! I quite like the cast of characters and I'm really quite fond of all the music so far too
There'll possibly be a bit of Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night & Injustice: God Among Us thrown in the mix as well.
I still don't like the redesigns. I don't like the look of the "mask suits" either. Not really feeling it at all and I don't trust activision in the slightest.
Gameplay itself looks fairly good though at least.
I found Divinity: Original sin II to be utterly engrossing @Shepherd_Tallon
The writing was very good all over the board, the strategic combat was very different for me and a breath of fresh air (And some battles can get quite difficult (I was playing on normal/standard difficulty setting) if you try not to abuse the AI), there's a bunch of different ways on how you can complete quests...
It's a lot of fun... It is also quite long.
I spent 135 or so hours on it... And I was tempted to start again and use the three party members I never took with me to see what happens with them
The game unfortunately bugged out on me a little so I have restart halfway through the Paramonia Temple. I'm enjoying it but I'll be really glad to get to Exodus and have the quicksave feature under my belt as it can get a bit frustrating at times too!
To everyone playing The Last Of Us Part 2 I hope you enjoy your time with it and I hope everyone has a great weekend! 😀
Well that's took the wind out of my sails already.
Like the others above I'm really confused on why the characters needed redesigns (Especially Cortex).
Plus the pre-order to get skins? Oh don't go down that slippery slope with DLC activision. You already burnt me out on Nitro fueled with the incessent MTX's and the rotating shop.
On the indies I'm actually interested in Little Devil Inside and Kena are the ones I'm looking out for, they look ace. There honestly wasn't much from the showcase that I wasn't at least a little bit interested in!
Even if I'm not interested in Goodbye Volcano high (The teen dinosaur one) personally I do feel a bit bad it seems to have become a bit of a punching bag of the indies shown in the PS5 showcase.
Not that I agree with the practice of timed exclusivity but Shadow Of The Tomb Raider was/is a well established franchise and the previous entry of it was on PS3/PS4.
Not to mention Lara herself still being fairly asscoiated with the Playstation brand thanks to her beginnings.
All these timed exclusives announced for PS5 are nearly all new IP right? So there isn't any expectations in place compared to Tomb Raider...
... Still not great mind but Sony wants people to buy PS5's at the end of the day and it's the games that'll do it even if most of them come to the Series X 6 months later
Well the past two weeks of the WAYPTW articles I started my first ever journey of The Last Of Us.
I ended up beating it last sunday.
It was pretty good & holds up fairly well indeed with a pretty tight and well written script. I did have a few gripes but they were mostly minor.
I won't be playing TLoU 2 around launch... but hopefully it'll be sooner rather then later as I'm interested in seeing where it's going.
Seeing Oddworld: Soulstorm in the PS5 reveal event really excited me however so this weekend I'm gonna be replaying my digital copy of the PS1 title Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee on PS3 with the intent on following it up with Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus (that I never got round to beating)
Not confirmed @Arugula I don't think but from the trailer I think it's safe to assume there's a good 75% chance they're probably gonna carry over the 1st person perspective from the previous entry
... It'd be even worse if it had happened to me in my first playthrough of Persona 3 (It being my first Atlus/smt game) seeing as I was a bit of a disaster with it @nessisonett due to me still using a Jack Frost with basic level bufu skills against the october full moon shadow.
I spent over an hour fighting that bloody wheel of fortune ever so slowly chipping away at it
It did also make the strega fights actually difficult though at least...
I've heard so many people having problems @nessisonett with Mitsuru and Marin Karin but I've played Vanilla P3 and FES with her in the party and never had some disaster wipeout cus of it
... Persona 4 is pretty good (I'm not terribly fond of golden's plot additions though) but I'm especially fond of the character arcs and plot in the third entry.
Whilst for me it's been enjoyable enough so far the Winter chapter from what I've played is a nice little shake up that's quite tense and definitely bumped it up a notch or two for myself as well
Still trekking through The Last Of Us for the first time.
I just got to the Winter chapter. Things have certainly taken a turn haven't they? Though I already know Joel's alive in Part 2 so I know he's just out of comission for a bit & not dead as the cut to the start of winter would've implied otherwise
I got DOOM 64 as well on PS4 and may give that a go as well over the weekend.
Divinity: Original Sin II was amazing! So looking forward to a new Divinity and that Baldur's Gate 3 reveal looked rather good! Can't wait to see more!!
I'll be playing more Day's Gone into the final act of the game. A good if somewhat unremarkable Sony exclusive. All the sequel really needs (For me at least) is a stronger narrative to wrap itself around.
I'll also be playing the mesmerising Pac Dot munching mayhem that is Pac-Man Championship 2 every now and again
The fact it's been directed by "a complete newcomer to the series" is a bit worrying in my book... surely you'd give them a smaller project first to test them out on!
I've never played or actually heard much about the first persona @crimsontadpoles... It's usually always Persona 2 (Usually Innocent Sin) I hear fans are talking about regarding the older entries. I was tempted to get a Playstation Classic on the cheap purely to try Persona 1 (Or Revelations Persona as it was called)
The PSP remake of Persona 1 @crimsontadpoles or the PS1 version?
I can only imagine that it's quite the different experience compared to Persona 5 (Not to mention 3 & 4)... Persona 1 has first person dungeon crawling like the first two mainline SMT games doesn't it?
As for me I'll be playing the same as last week. I'm on Opus/Chapter 7 of Shining Resonance Refrain and nearing the end of the game.
My run as the Amazon in Dragon's Crown Pro is also coming to a conclusion and I'll maybe make some more progress in Iconoclasts as well.
Shining Resonance Refrain (On PS4) is what I'll mainly be playing this weekend. I'm finding it pretty decent, if unambitious, and the more light hearted presentation and tone is just what I needed apparently.
Due to a colleague taking ill yesterday though I'll be back at work teaching on Monday.

I'll be playing Bloodstained Ritual of The Night on PS4 for the majority.
Might play some Dragon's Crown Pro as well when I fancy a break from the gothic Metroidvania. About halfway through my initial run as the Amazon.
Stay safe and have a good weekend everyone! 😁
Re: God of War PS5 Shows a Custom Design Concept for Next-Gen System
That's way too gaudy looking for me personally... It looks even worse then the standard one
Re: Open World Action RPG Genshin Impact Gets Closed Beta Test on PS4 Next Month
Shame ya can't play it offline as I was quite interested in it otherwise from that initial reveal... Oh well

Trying not to get too hyped from that trailer... But it looks absolutely gorgeous! Looking forward to that!!!

Re: PS5 Game Scarlet Nexus Debuts Short Slice of Gameplay
Ehhhhh... the monster designs look really naff to me.
The gameplay looks ok I suppose. Does look quite like Code Vein too...
Re: Persona 4 Golden Fans Remain Hopeful of a PS4 Port

Re: How Closely Were You Watching the PS5 Reveal Event?
13 out of 15.
Only messed up on the Kena release date and the game after Ghostwire Tokyo questions!

Re: Resident Evil Village Is Optimised for Next-Gen with No Load Times
I'm not invested in Ethan, the first person perspective or RE:VII as a whole personally...
... But this really looks quite exciting. Definitely an interesting direction 😁
Re: Oddworld: Soulstorm Brings Abe to Both PS5 and PS4
I'm kinda (But at the same time kinda not) surprised at how excited I was upon seeing this. I felt like a teenager all over again.
Genuinely surprised the hell outta me seeing Abe.
Can't bloody wait for this!!! 😀
Re: Ghostwire Tokyo Becomes PS5 Console Exclusive in New Gameplay Trailer
A lot more interesting to me then Deathloop.
Not groundbreaking but I'm interested in seeing more!
Re: Gallery: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Looks Like a Real Dimension Shift on PS5
Just give it a smidge more humour like the older games... The remake of the first game was a bit too childish with the writing at times.
Other then that... Yeah I'm interested!
Re: Gallery: Returnal Is a PS5 Roguelike with an Ever-Changing World
I quite like everything about it. Especially the roguelike element.
Sounds ace!
Re: PS Vita Exclusive Persona 4 Golden Is Jumping to PC, No Word on PS4
That does sound rather painful I have to admit...

Re: Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered Reportedly Launching Fall 2020
I'd be up to giving the series a go at some point... So a remaster trilogy on PS4 would certainly make it easier then my very temperamental PS3

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 326
Well I'm finally playing The Last of Us for the first time ever.
So far I'm enjoying it and those Clickers are damn unsettling!
Have a good weekend everyone!
Re: Talking Point: Will You Be Buying The Last of Us 2?
I should really get around to playing the first as I have to admit the second looked really good.
... Y'know when it wasn't uncomfortable with the violence 😂
Re: How Well Do You Know Grand Theft Auto?
Well I think we deserve a pat on the back then or maybe even a high five @Th3solution for such a decent score with so little knowledge 😂
Oh and nice new Death Stranding avatar too Sol!
Re: How Well Do You Know Grand Theft Auto?
10/15
Not gonna lie all of them were complete guesses on my part as I've only played about 4-5 hours of San Andreas 😂
Re: How Well Do You Know Crash Bandicoot?
12/15 for me. Not too shabby at all!

No Mileena still? Goddammit NetherRealm she was my main in X! 😂
Sheeva's new design looks rather weird too...

That... looks pretty cool and the mechanics sound interesting
It's particularly impressive from a core team of only 15 people!
