Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart looks amazing in the above trailer, but even in screenshots, it's an absolute blinder. Take a look at them yourself below -- Insomniac Games has outdone itself here. The level of detail is ludicrous on every object and character.
We're so excited to see Ratchet & Clank return on PlayStation 5, and they're looking better than ever. Are you impressed by what you've seen of Rift Apart? Shift dimensions in the comments section below.

So Insomniac was working on 2 games simultaneously?
Looks great, I'm really happy they're back to the series proper instead of another remake. It's one of my favorite series, so this will definitely make me want to get a PS5 sooner rather than later.
No word on release date right?
It's like a Pixar movie now
I've had the working theory in my head for a while now that the next R&C would deal with dimension travelling and dimensional collapse. I'm so happy right now. If that female lombax at the end turned out to be Angela, I would have had a heart attack.
@Makina Yeah, they have multiple teams. It's how they managed to put out both Ratchet and Resistance games on PS3.
Glad to see this series making a comeback!
This game looks freakin' incredible.
Game looks beautiful. Really glad ol' Ratchet is still kicking through the generations since the PS2 days.
I loved Spider-Man and looking forward for more of it with Miles Morales (was disappointed the DLC never got to get us playing as him) but THIS game was the only game in the showcase that impressed me.
This made me think “ok THAT is leveraging the SSD in ways I never seen before in gaming!” But no launch date... hoping it’s a 2020 holiday launch game.
I bought r&c ps4 on day one, it will be day one on r&c ps5 too 😃
@Makina the other game is just a spin off side game (like first light / last light) and is being used to push the consoles sales this year.
It's not a full next gen game just a dlc they decided to upres and charge full price for (and limit it away from owners of the original).
@Tharsman that game dlc you were looking for IS this "game".
They took that dlc spun it into a "sequel" and are charging full price and not allowing owners of the original to play unless they buy a whole new console.
@Cybrshrk so long they handle it as Ubisoft habled Odyssey (that started as DLC) I would not mind. If it ends up being about as much content as base spider-man (~16 hours) I say that’s cool, even if it takes place on the same map.
If we talking 8 hours or less... yea that will be extremely lame.
That said I still am not sold on the PS5 at launch. So far only interested in two games and one might not be a launch title after all. I’ll likely wait for winter 2021 to get a PS5 (I will eventually get one.)
I... don't like this. It's too real. It triggers my uncanny valley in a nasty way. It's like they are trying to make a realism style for characters clearly designed to be cartoon characters.
Is every single game on PS5 going to take this approach? Trying as hard as possible to have computer rendered "realism"?
I hope Microsoft doesn't do the same...
@Jslade I'd guess around Q1 or Q2 2021.
@Cybrshrk That make sense. I though that was the full sequel.
I'm not into Spiderman comics, games or media, so i don't even know why Spiderman it's no longer Peter Parker, but a young black boy. Being a spin-off make more sense to me.
The R&C game on the other side looks like it will be a very good game. Tailored for PS5. The gameplay seems fast and snappy, just hope they add a Performance Mode.
Looks lush. One of the many reasons I'll be staying with PS next gen is R&C.
Sad to see no release date, so not looking likely as a launch title but will be worth waiting for.
@Heavyarms55 What do you mean by that? It looks like a natural evolution of the previous games to me. It looks more like a Pixar film to me. It's still cartoony. It's detailed for sure, but not realistic.
Just give it a smidge more humour like the older games... The remake of the first game was a bit too childish with the writing at times.
Other then that... Yeah I'm interested!
I am so glad that this looks like it's going to be a sequel to A Crack In Time, and that Nefarious looks set to be the baddie.
One thing I thought was interesting is when Rachet is teleporting around in combat, instead of the character model and camera moving in the world, it seemed the world moved to the camera. A really nice effect which looked great, and I would imagine - knowing nothing about programming - that it would be more memory intensive doing it that way? Using the PS5's extra power well perhaps...
The only game I remember from reveal. Looking forward. ☺️
Never played Ratchet and clank before but I’ll definitely be picking this up. This is what I wanted from Nintendo for years!
@SaikoWaifu2003 Looks like a light shade of violet to me.
Very impressive game. I will definitely be shifting dimensions when it is released.
@Octane Nooooooo not at all! Ugly and forced realism onto an obviously unrealistic character. I don't like the new look at all! I also don't like the animation in Pixar films either. It doesn't look like a cartoon or a game. It looks like an ugly CG movie, which is a style I really dislike.
It's a Ratchet Clank game, so I'd almost certainly enjoy the game play, but I don't like this graphical style at all!
@Heavyarms55 It looks pretty much the same as the last one.
