Re: PS5 Launch Causes Technical Issues at UK Retailers

GamingFiend

Got my digital edition from Amazon delivered earlier, driver left it by door and drove away so I'll file for a refund on that by claiming I never received it.

To make the day even better I managed to then grab a disc console right after they went live on Amazon just after 1pm for delivery on Sunday, which I will drop in to cex for £150 profit.

Courier should have followed procedure and got a signature or photo as per delivery notification, and people shouldn't be willing to pay cex so much to buy them. No apologies from me. Just a free digital edition PS5 and £150 to spend on games for it.

PS off to set up my digital edition now and won't be returning to this thread or account so post what replies you want because I won't be reading them haha

Re: Sony Exploring Ways to Store PS5 Games on External SSD

GamingFiend

@Northern_munkey although of course it would be nicer to have this option at launch, I agree with you.

Most of my library will be PS4 for a long time, and that's all on a 2TB external SSD. The few PS5 games I am likely to have during this period will easily fit on the internal with space to spare.

Last month it was the size of the console, last week it was back compat, if Sony fixed this storage issue, people would find something else to 'concern' themselves about. It's just the way it is nowadays.

Re: Sadly, You Can't Store PS5 Games on an External HDD

GamingFiend

@Arnna you can't 'swap out' the internal SSD as it's on the mainboard. The expansion slot is exactly that, an expansion for additional storage. And yes, once Sony whitelist approved products for that, it will be an easy job for people to do.

External SSDs are a thing, but none of them can provide anything like the speed of the internal, hence they are only appropriate for PS4 stuff but games will load faster from them than on the PS4 due to the faster USB interface, if that's any consolation.

In short, if you want additional PS5 storage then at this precise moment the answer is that that isn't possible, but Sony could well soon approve a couple if you really need and can afford that extra space.

Re: Which SSD Drives Will Be Compatible With PS5?

GamingFiend

@Stonecold no, or at least not on the current form of the PS5, simply because the external interfaces don't run at a high enough speed whatever the speed of any future drive you plugged in. I believe the maximum throughput is 10Gbps, which is way slower than the internal ssd.

Re: Hands On: Astro's Playroom Is an Extraordinary Demonstration of DualSense

GamingFiend

Sony were sitting quietly for months while Microsoft bragged about the power of Xbox, showing off the hardware, schmoozing the media etc. They haven't even made that big of a deal about the dualsense in the build-up either, certainly not the hyperbole that it sounds like this controller deserves on merit!

I tell you, the quiet ones are the worst. 😉

Re: Sony Shares Up-Close Images of PS5 and Its Accessories

GamingFiend

@Candayman313 Why waste all of that post dissing digital? It works for plenty of people who don't want to faff around storing and swapping discs in this day and age.

Why is it always the non-digital console buyers who post these rants? Live and let live, man. It's not your problem, it doesn't affect your life.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Delay Is Due to Current-Gen Consoles After All

GamingFiend

I've had this pre-ordered for months to play on PS5, with whatever basic resolution or framerate patch it may get, but just cancelled and will use the credit on Demons Souls or Miles Morales Ultimate.

Quite apart from the probable bad state this game is gonna release in, I've just lost a load of my hype and excitement for it at the moment. Will doubtless buy it, but prudence screamed at me that waiting for patches and the full next gen upgrade was the only sensible course of action at this point. I take no pleasure in that. ☹️

Re: Hands On: The Watch Dogs Legion Gimmick Can't Hide Tired Gameplay

GamingFiend

As a UK gamer I love the fact we've actually got London as a setting instead of the usual US Cities, and an open-world hacking game built around that should be right up my street....but I can't get excited to play this, even on PS5. Looks bland and boring.

Worth £20 max at some point down the line imo, wouldn't pay any more than that.

Re: PS Plus Subscriber Milestone Closes on 50 Million

GamingFiend

@Shepherd_Tallon I agree, would love more of the great indies that are out there to pop up as ps+ games occasionally, like they did at the start of the gen.

Although I guess thanks to psn sales they're often very very cheap anyway. I stick the ones I want on my psprices notification list and wait for the lovely email surprises ☺️

Re: WRC 9 PS5 Trailer Shows Next-Gen Rally Gameplay

GamingFiend

@Grimwood you have to start somewhere. this looks better than PS4. PS4 stuff looked better than PS3 when it first came out and so on. Thank goodness most people are happy with iterative improvements or we would all still be playing PS1 quality games.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed into December

GamingFiend

They're losing me with all these delays. Honestly not even hyped for this anymore. Plenty enough actual games to play over the next couple of months rather than listen to more bull statements from these clowns.

Re: My Time at Portia Sequel Comes to PS5, PS4 in 2022

GamingFiend

I enjoyed Portia, but for me it strayed the wrong side of the grinding line once you get a fair way into it. In other words, too much combining A into B into C, waiting x hours, then using another machine with other random stuff like above, all to make one item. Unlike games such as stardew it just wasn't fun at that point. Plus, always felt a bit janky to play even disregarding crashes.

And 2022 huh? Can't even think that far ahead with all that's coming out between now and then, plus backlog.

Re: PS5 Controllers Begin to Appear in the Wild

GamingFiend

@Spoonman-2 Congrats! Mine is Dec 12th. I'd have definitely got one for myself - I did have an Amazon pre-order, but going to have to wait it out now! She did say I could have it early but I felt it would be disrespectful really, and would cheapen the event a bit...we only get one 50th, after all

At least I won't be short of stuff to read and watch online - going to be a crazy amount of articles, hardware/software reviews and the like during that period.
