And I've gone back and fired up Hollow Knight. Never did get round to it, kinda caught up in the hype or Slilksong, so will get through the first before picking that up.
I picked up Psychonauts on Steam for 69p or something daft a while back, maybe now a good time to play through it then move onto the 2, I hear it's good.
Already have Stardew Valley, Viewfinder not interested in.
I'll likely still pick it up after we get some impressions on console performance, I enjoyed 1 and 2 (never bothered with 3) and am bored to tears of games expecting weeks of my time to complete them, and open worlds full of filler that adds little.
I love pretty much anything to do with the Italian Mafia and a focussed, linear story with that setting is right up my street.
Hardly surprising, couldn't really care less, if they do. Hardly makes a compelling point to own either console however, and given they are pretty much just less powerful, convenient PCs with a few bells and whistles, I wonder if the inevitable will be in time they will both abandon hardware and focus on dev/publishing.
Glad I skipped this, have watched a few let's plays this morning and it looks awful performance, frames rates, bugs.
Hopefully in a year or so we will be looking at it a bit differently with a bit of work. But can't see me parting with cash for this effort any time soon
If this is gonna need user generated content then it's gonna end up on Essential when it hits an inevitable slump and needs a user bump, think I'll try it out then.
Completed The Precinct, very enjoyable game so have now moved on to Deliver at all Costs... Which is enjoyable enough, could be better though... So much loading.
Also sprinkling in some FH5 and will be looking to fire up a new campaign on Civil 7 on the PC seeing as a new patch is out.
And my new Chroma Dual Sense just arrived so will need to give that a bit of use.
The Precinct for me, gonna get that finished up today hopefully, have enjoyed it so far, really fun game and been ideal this week WFH, can just pop on, do a shift over lunch.
I have finally caved and bought FH5 despite already having played it to death, so will no doubt he firing that up.
Also picked up Deliver At All Costs this week as well, once I am finished up with The Precinct that will be next.
The last one to offer a reward program and bailing in it already.
I've not had the most out of it, just checked, £65. It was handy to pair with cheap PSN vouchers to take the cost of games down but overall was pretty poor.
Always used to annoy me when I would buy a game and a few days later it would be on a campaign that would get points, happened recently with Clair Obscur. Not a huge deal, not like it was a great rewards program anyway but still, was better than nothing.
Watching how console manufacturers are carrying on at the moment is making me feel like I'm no longer the target customer type for them however, and although the removal of a poor rewards program doesn't seem like a massive issue in the grand scheme, it's another little thing that will ultimately force me out of this gaming space.
Nothing for me but reading the list is a fair bit of scrolling. I like the fact that you list them with a nice bit of info, could that be expandable though? So if we want to read more we can? If that makes sense?
Anyway, this has reminded me how much I would kill for a new inFamous game along with remakes/remasters of the first 2 (and 3 as well, why not).
I mean we have remastered TLOU about a million times now, why not show inFamous some love
Ah, love the stench of politics permeating through everything, particularly rancid American politics.
Politics aside, if this is the state of play in the console market then I think unfortunately the Playstation will be my last.
I've said it in comments on other articles, the days of me having the time or inclination to sit down and dedicate a chunk of my life to the next 100 hour plus AAAA (🤨) blockbuster are long gone. And well given the fact that we seem fond of remastering anything and everything this gen, there just not much of the way of anything to really keep me hooked.
With the exception of a few, they no longer hold any interest for me. I find myself more drawn to smaller indie titles that tend to be more respectful of my time and diminishing attention span, or a good strategy game.
I actually play more on my PC now that I do on my PS5 and can see that trend continuing to be fair.
I don't mind an open world but I am one of the 64%
Open World games are fine, 100 hour long open world games full of fetch quest fillers, I don't have the time for that anymore and if I'm honest, I'm probably burnt out of that type of game.
So yeah, I'm down for more story driven, linear, shorter games. Allows me time to actually complete them instead of chucking them to the side when they inevitably bore me asking me to go get a doodah from big Mike at the other side of the bloody map

Re: Marvel Cosmic Invasion (PS5) - Marvel's Most Fun Beat-'Em-Up in Decades
Picked it up yesterday on PS5 but yet to play.
Did play the demo on Steam last month though, good fun.
Will get into it with the wee man tonight
Re: Marvel Cosmic Invasion Hypes Up Its Heroes with Stylish Opening Cinematic
Played the demo on PC a few weeks back and was enjoyable, looking forward to this
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 608
Not much on console for me this weekend.
Will work my way through the Sponge Bob festival on Sonic Racing but otherwise it will be PC for me, Anno 117 and/or EU5 are the current focus.
Hope you all have a good one
Re: 75+ PS5, PS4 Games to Buy in PS Store's Black Friday Sale
Nothing for me, thankfully.
Can't even be bothered to do my usual and crack and buy FIFA.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 602
Sonic Racing Minecraft Festival
And since it's getting closer to the end of the month, I've line up the RE2, 3 and 4 remakes and SOMA to work my way through.
Have a good one all!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 601
I'm in a bit of a funk with games, nothing is really catching my attention at the minute.
So will likely just been some Sonc Racing with the kid, get through the festival stuff etc.
Tempted to fire up another run of Civ 7 on PC to see what the new patch is like.
Have a good one all!
Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS1 at Launch?
I remember getting it for Christmas the year it launched, what a machine, I loved it.
Wasn't long before an illicit trade sprung up at school, with one lad selling games for £5 you could play using the paper clip trick.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 597
Shinobi for me.
And I've gone back and fired up Hollow Knight. Never did get round to it, kinda caught up in the hype or Slilksong, so will get through the first before picking that up.
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for September 2025?
I picked up Psychonauts on Steam for 69p or something daft a while back, maybe now a good time to play through it then move onto the 2, I hear it's good.
Already have Stardew Valley, Viewfinder not interested in.
Very solid month.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 596
I'm feeling indecisive, so far today I have played a little of
Shinobi
Sonic Racing Crosswords
MGS (was gonna replay MGS and MGS2 before picking up Delta but I may shelf that for now)
Roadcraft
And Tempest Rising on PC.
Nothing is scratching the itch today
Re: These 14+ New PS5, PS4 Games Are Coming Out Next Week (25th-31st August)
Was never a Gears of War fan, so I'll skip that but good to see it on PS.
Shinobi! Stupidly excited for this.
Re: Shinobi: Art of Vengeance DLC Adds Dr. Eggman and Other Classic SEGA Villains in 2026
Man, I loved Shinobi on my Megadrive, so this is already pre ordered.
Re: American and Euro Truck Simulator PS5 Leak Confirms Series Is Finally Speeding to PlayStation
I have put a stupid amount of hours into ETS over the years on PC, really quite a relaxing game to just kick back with, pop on althe radio and drive.
Re: Sword of the Sea (PS5) - Stunning Journey-Like Is a PS Plus Extra Hall of Famer
Will be picking this up
Re: These 11+ PS5, PS4, and PS Plus Games Are Coming Out This Week (18th-24th August)
Will be picking up Sword of the Sea
Re: Round Up: Total Lack of Mafia: The Old Country PS5 Reviews Is a Red Flag
I'll likely still pick it up after we get some impressions on console performance, I enjoyed 1 and 2 (never bothered with 3) and am bored to tears of games expecting weeks of my time to complete them, and open worlds full of filler that adds little.
I love pretty much anything to do with the Italian Mafia and a focussed, linear story with that setting is right up my street.
Re: New PS5 Games for August and September 2025
Man this next couple of months is hard going on the wallet.
Mafia Old Country
Silent Hill f
Sonic Racing
Hell is Us
Shinobi
Re: Rumour: Sony to Put More First-Party PS5 Games on Xbox
"Corporation changes strategy to make more money"
Hardly surprising, couldn't really care less, if they do. Hardly makes a compelling point to own either console however, and given they are pretty much just less powerful, convenient PCs with a few bells and whistles, I wonder if the inevitable will be in time they will both abandon hardware and focus on dev/publishing.
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for August 2025 Announced
I've nearly bought Lies of P a million times but then remember it's a Soulslike and I don't have the patience in my old age to master them.
But I will definitely be giving it a try, with the intention of buying the DLC if I get along with it
Other 2 games, meh
Still a cracking month though
Re: State of Decay 3 Is Another Upcoming Xbox Game Tipped for PS5
@trev666 I also enjoyed the first more than the second.
Still fire it up from time to time, would welcome SoD3 on PlayStation
Re: Poll: 5 Years Later, What Do You Think of Ghost of Tsushima?
I think I was burnt out of large open worlds by the time I got to GoT, I played it when I had a sub to Extra.
It was enjoyable to a point, can't lie, it looked good, story seemed solid, decent characters.
I just got bored running around the world.
Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want from God of War Maker Sony Santa Monica Next?
Never been a fan of the newer GOW games so something new would be nice.
Re: EA Sports FC 26's First PS5, PS4 Trailer Is an Ode to the Haters
I'll do what I usually do and say I'm not gonna buy it then when it gets an inevitable Black Friday or December Deals discount I'll cave.
Surely can't be much worse than last year 🤷🏼♂️
Re: 88+ PS5, PS4 Games You Should Buy in PS Store's Huge Summer Sale
Few things on my wishlist have cropped up. Gonna pick up Kentucky Route Zero and The Blue Prince I think
Re: Secret New PS5 Firmware Update Out Now, Get the Patch Notes Here
I was just thinking my system could do with some more stability, seems likes it's been a while.
Thank the wee man they have sent us a secret update!
Re: Best inFAMOUS Games
Man, how I loved those first two games.
I actually had the first, played about 10 mins and traded it.
Bought it back a couple of years later and loved it.
Second Son was OK but those first two were fantastic.
Re: 12+ PS5, PS4 Games You Should Buy in PS Store's PS Plus Weekend Offer Sale
@dardel yeah, some cracking deals on there at the minute, really does make this 15 year celebration look quite pitiful in comparison
Re: 12+ PS5, PS4 Games You Should Buy in PS Store's PS Plus Weekend Offer Sale
Thankfully this sale is garbage, the Steam Summer Sale has damaged my wallet a bit!
Re: Hands On: MindsEye Is a Boring Mess
Glad I skipped this, have watched a few let's plays this morning and it looks awful performance, frames rates, bugs.
Hopefully in a year or so we will be looking at it a bit differently with a bit of work. But can't see me parting with cash for this effort any time soon
Re: Site News: Where's Our MindsEye PS5 Review?
I've watched a few people playing it.
If this is gonna need user generated content then it's gonna end up on Essential when it hits an inevitable slump and needs a user bump, think I'll try it out then.
Re: DualSense PS5 Controllers Will Soon Be Able to Pair with Multiple Devices At Once
Yup, that will be a handy feature, although I now has 3 Dual Sense, 1 for PC and 2 for the PS5.
Still handy to know I can have them all synced to both with less messing around repairing
Re: These 9+ New PS5, PS4 Games Are Coming Out This Week (9th-15th June)
Still have a temptation to pre order MindsEye despite it looking pretty tragic from what I have seen 😂
I really just need to get stuck into my backlog
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 584
I'm still playing Deliver at all Costs, it's fun enough, not great. Hopefully get it finished up the weekend.
Will no doubt jump on FH5 at some point.
And I quite fancy firing up the PC and Civ 7, not played it since launch, will check out the new patches and such like
Re: Poll: Vote for Your PS5 Game of the Month (May 2025)
The Precinct was the only one I picked up,nreally enjoyed it so that.
Re: These 6+ New PS5, PS4 Games Are Coming Out This Week (2nd-8th June)
Ridge Racer if it wasn't so bloody expensive.
Otherwise the Switch 2 arrives this week so I'll probably be spending a bit of time on that
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 583

Have a good one!
Re: MindsEye CEO Says People Are Being Paid to 'Trash the Game' Online
Well, I'm sure once it is out there and rated 11/10 by everyone he will be proven correct.
🙄
Re: MindsEye Really Does Look Like a Long-Lost PS3 Game
The more I see of this, the more meh I feel towards it.
Will wait for some reviews/play throughs to see, looks like a wait for a sale at best type of game for me though
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for June 2025 Announced
Don't think I have played a basketball game since NBA Jam back in the day.
Destiny... Nah.
Kids talk highly of Bomb Funk so will give that and Alone in the Dark a try
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 582
Bank holiday weekend baby!
Re: Deliver At All Costs (PS5) - Special Delivery with Mixed Results
I was keeping an eye on this along with The Precinct, which I am really enjoying.
Seems to be a big of a mixed bag of reviews out there but at £25, I'm gonna take a punt on it
Re: Age Rating Suggests Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Isn't Too Far Down the Road
I managed to play the network test along with the kid, it's a fun game and probably one I will be looking to pick up.
That said some of the races were utter madness due to the weapons.
If they tone that down, touch up the speed a little and maybe just over all let the racing show through the chaos, it's will be a solid kart racer
Re: PlayStation Stars Rewards Program Shutting Down, Sony Confirms

Re: Ex-GTA Boss' PS5 Shooter MindsEye Gets a Tiny Gameplay Trailer, with Launch Just Weeks Away
For something I know nothing about, I'm interested.
Re: The Precinct (PS5) - GTA-Style Sandbox Is a Dynamic, Addictive Cop Movie Homage
Played it for a few hours after work, for to say it's a fun little game, would pretty much echo the comments of @Jeaz above.
Worth a punt for the price
Re: Even More PS5 Price Increases Being Considered by Sony
@ThroughTheIris56 if it's the latter then that will seal the deal for me that the 5 will be my last PlayStation

Re: Mafia: The Old Country Ditches Open World for Linear, Story-Based Gameplay on PS5
Old Country. Focused Story. Under £50.
Yup, count me in. More of this please.
