
Mark Gerhard, co-CEO at MindsEye developer Build a Rocket Boy, believes the underwhelming reaction to the imminent PS5 game is a result of a "concerted effort" to "trash the game" and the studio, where those with negative feedback are being paid by someone to share it.
In a series of posts on the game's Discord server, Gerhard responded to a question from a fan asking if he thinks "all the people who reacted negatively were financed by someone". He replied: "100%." When pressed for further information, Gerhard said that "there is a concerted effort by some people that don't want to see Leslie or Build A Rocket Boy to be successful that are making a concerted effort to trash the game and the studio. It's pretty easy to see the bots and the repeated replies to any content that we put out."

The co-CEO does not elaborate on who those people wishing failure on the studio are, but despite the surprising claims, Gerhard reiterates his suggestions aren't "wild when it's true".
Recently, a handful of YouTubers were included in a hands-off preview event for MindsEye. To our knowledge, no games media outlets, such as Push Square, were invited. Those previews resulted in a lot of negative feedback just prior to the game's release date on 10th June. As spotted by Eurogamer, a round up post of all the issues included suggestions of it being a "broken mess, filled with bugs", and should be delayed.
Since the game's reveal earlier this year, public footage has raised a lot of questions in regard to its general quality, and how it looks dated. Gameplay trailers have been strangely short, and a recent overview clip called MindsEye "the home of infinite entertainment". The press release accompanying that trailer said the experience will "revolutionise gaming" and "surprise and delight its players for decades to come".
