Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for September 2025?

Its a great month. Anyone that thinks it isn't has unrealistic expectations.

I've played and would recommend all three of them. So, yeah, high quality month imo

Psychonauts 2 is a great game the rest no thanks

A pretty decent crop. A friend of mine has been raving about Psychonauts 2 for ages (the first one was good), and Stardew Valley looks like a nice, therapeutic chill out kind of game. Overall, the Essential games have definitely improved this year.

2 amazing indie games and an amazing indie turned AAA game.

I can’t remember another month in which I liked all three games. Sony very certainly read my comments here that I want to not renew my subscription. They are making the right steps to keep me.

Fantastic month, but the issue with most fantastic months is I already own the highlighted games (psychonauts 2 and Stardew valley in this instance). I will check out Viewfinder though. Looks interesting.

It's not a Push Square PS Plus poll if the majority of votes isn't "No, it's a crap selection", and it's even better this month, considering the fact that all three of these games are highly acclaimed.

Wow, people calling "Psychonauts 2" a crap selection is... horrifying.

Great Lineup. I am only hoping that Microsoft will do the right thing and finally give us a PS5 upgrade of Psychonauts 2.

Decent games but nothing I'm interested in. I played Psychonauts 2 years ago.

An almost 10 years old game that's always cheap, and a 4 years old game that's been on Game Pass forever, so if you have both consoles and are interested in it you've probably played it already (also goes cheap usually).
I'd say Viewfinder it's the good pick but that's not for me at all. So for me in particular it's a terrible month.

Not so much. Like always, they add games that almost everyone already purchased on some -50% sales during these years. At least this month they add decent games. I went back from Premium to Extra, because Premium is so lacking. Extra is getting worse as well, if you have no idea what they will add next months you just need to check what games had poor sales, bad reception or are basically cheap these days, and you got a list for Extra in following months

Psychonaughts 2 I played on xbox back when I had one. I lost interest in it but got quite far, so I don't know if I'll want to play it again. Maybe..

Stardew - I have played it for hundreds of hours with my gf, on PS4 and with mods on PC, and like others said, it's a bit lame because it's often on sale for what, £5.99 or thereabouts? Not to mention it's really really old.

Viewfinder - Not familiar with it but I like the odd chill cosy game.

So objectively it's pretty good overall.

It’s a great month. I’ve played two of the three games. Viewfinder is an especially well made puzzle game with great mechanics

Psychonauts 2 alone makes it a great month. It's the best game Microsoft ever pretended they made.

I own but haven't yet played either psychonauts so I discount that from the offering for me. However I am interested in viewfinder as it looks an interesting puzzle game

@Jey887 well it's personal preference, and I am not happy with it. Psychonauts 2 is kind of cool but I've never played 1 so there's an investment there, Stardew Valley I assume most people interested in it would own on another console (I have it on Switch and I find it kind of boring), and while I appreciate a hidden gem I have no idea what Viewfinder is.

@Bentleyma You're surprised the biggest multiformat publisher going took a wedge of cash to have their four year old game that's well past its sales peak as a Plus game?

@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy You absolutely do not need to have played Psychonauts 1 to enjoy 2.

If you absolutely must, read a two minute synopsis of the first game, then get to enjoying one of the most vivid and rich worlds in gaming.

Honestly, if I wasn't getting back into Helldivers 2 I'd be cancelling PS plus at this point.

I would be happy with Stardew valley if I didn’t buy and play it a long time ago. That’s the problem when games have been on sale cheap many times in the past before entering Plus.

I’d be much more interested in Viewfinder if it was in VR, as it clearly could and should be.

There really should be an option of “great games, but I have them”. - giving only the options of “are you happy personally” or “are they objectively crap”, Just doesn’t cover it.

For those that haven't played it, Psychonauts 2 is one of the best Xbox Studios games and among great 3D platformers in general.

Definitely the worst month I’ve seen since I’ve been subscribed. It would’ve been ok if my region got Stardew Valley, but they gave us Dragon Marked For Death instead

I picked up Psychonauts on Steam for 69p or something daft a while back, maybe now a good time to play through it then move onto the 2, I hear it's good.

Already have Stardew Valley, Viewfinder not interested in.

Psychonauts 2 is great, but I have it. So I'll try out the other two games. I like puzzles on occasion and I've heard a lot about Stardew Valley. I loved Harvest Moon games and, this isnt that, but I'll play it for a bit probably.

Worst month in memory im sorry to say. The headliner is not even a PS5 game.

Interested in Viewfinder, played P2 at launch on gpass (personally wasn’t a fan,) and not remotely interested Stardew Valley. I’m happy if there’s at least one solid game I’m interested in a month, so I’m happy.

We need the option to select 'it is a good selection but not for me', I'm most interested in Viewfinder as I've heard decent things about this one and I hope it delivers.

What makes me laugh and what I don't miss is how on Facebook whenever the announcements go up about which games are coming, it's always filled with laughing emojis. They could put 3 brand new top tier releases on and there would still be the same laughing emojis and ridiculous comments.

Having said that, this does seem a weaker month in terms of the age of the games and how long they've already been available on game pass (well, 2 of them at least) so personally I'm a bit like meh for this month.

All excellent choices but a lot of Playstation players are big on brooding souls-like titles or moody action rpgs where you revenge your brother’s killer.

This is a month with a comic-y platformer, THE cozy farming game (which if you like these kinds of games you probably already own), and a puzzle game. So yeah, perfect for me. I got enough drama, I need lolz.

Compared to last month that's a pretty ropey line-up.
First month I won't have downloaded one of the games by the looks of it.

Omg once again a rubbish selection of games come on sony get it together & at least give your subscribers a decent selection for once these games seem to be getting worse from month to month

psychoinauts bu itself makes it a great selection, but unfortunately that also means i already have it and SDValley on the switch... so viewvinder it is

I think people put crap selection for a laugh nowadays. 3 good games in my opinion.

I suppose it depends on if I already on SV or not

A great steaming pile.

It has been for ages. The only game I can recall grabbing in the last 18 months is Payday 3, and I haven't played that past the intro.

And to think they put the price up! They've got to introduce a basic tier for online play only. My sub runs until September next year, because I bought and stacked a few annual subscriptions when they were cheap-ish, but I'm increasingly unsure if I'll renew. Even on Essential, I'm starting to begrudge paying for it now.

I think this month is great, but a lot of people into these games also already have them as well. So that doesn't help. Even then great Indies are discounted or talked about and people get so acclaimed Indies via PS+ is a bit hmm worthy for sure compared to others not as much talked about people 'may' get.

Most people want either games from a few months ago or AAA games that are like in a sense of Gamepass kind of thing and PS+ doesn't work that way, it's been clear for years now.

When we get the dumped games that flop yeah that's when I agree it sucks, I can only respect some of them so much and others not at all.

But great Indies even would be for some months, I respected the many on Xbox and people went 'oh these suck' and I'm like what rock are you living under. I don't care for many big Indies but even I can respect some of the lineups for those months.

Besides people wanting these on PS+ seem to forget they can get them discounted anyway, so why complain. You know which ones your looking for anyway. I have no interest in online either, not for eh multiplayer games, rather bot matches instead on occasion in older games.

I don't even need PS+ to get my PS1/PS2/PSP games anyway, so I don't need PS+ Deluxe/Premium, same with other games I just get them discounted. PS+ is clear what it offers of games, if people narrow their options and Sony can't cater to everyone then yeah the months are going to vary per license and per audience each month.

That and why would I sub all the time to access something when I can just digitally license buy it instead. There is more flexibility there....

I mean all 3 of these appeal to me or a mix of audiences that fit those genres.

But I also already have Viewfinder just not played it yet and tried Psychonauts 2 and I don't have Stardew Valley as I'm not sure if I want to go into it just yet.

But 2 of these are well known and many have Stardew Valley at this point even if they don't have the other 2, or vice versa.

But it's just not appealing to other hardcore audiences but it's not supposed to either.

I like Psychonauts 2 just didn't play it much, I haven't played Stardrew Valley but know enough about it.

But I got Grid Legneds before it went to Gamepass/EA Play and before the PS+ offering months later. I wanted that game regardless of them and bought it at $30, that's EA's fault launching it next to GT7, what were they thinking, did they learn nothing from Titanfall 2, yes.
