What are the best inFAMOUS games? Before Sucker Punch Productions began its noble quest to Japan with the Ghost series, it made a series of open world superhero titles, and it remains a fan favourite franchise.
Set in a world where a select few people possess superhuman powers thanks to a rare gene, the games use a karma system, allowing you to decide whether to use your abilities for good or evil. Whether you're a fan of Cole MacGrath's electrical talents or Delsin Rowe's more diverse pool of powers, these are great action games with satisfying traversal and fun stories.
But which is best? That's where you come in. This list of the best inFAMOUS games is ordered in accordance with your user ratings, meaning you can have a direct impact on how these titles are ranked. Using the search bar below, you can find games in the series and then leave your ratings, and doing so will contribute to this list.
Here we are, then: the best inFAMOUS games, ranked and rated by our community.
5. inFAMOUS: First Light (PS4)
inFAMOUS: First Light is a spin-off from the main series, starring the neon-powered conduit, Fetch. This standalone adventure has you playing as the character, telling the story of her past that led to her capture. It's another excuse to zip around an open world Seattle, and with a short run time, it's refreshingly brief. If you're after a slice of slick superhero action that doesn't outstay its welcome, this comes recommended.
4. inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood (PS3)
inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood is a standalone off-shoot from inFAMOUS 2, bringing to life a world in which vampires are taking over New Marais, and Cole is the latest victim. Eschewing the karma system of the main games, this is a fun riff on the series that gives you permission to let loose and embrace darkness as our hero battles vampiric forces.
3. inFAMOUS: Second Son (PS4)
Sucker Punch continues its popular superhero series with a brand new protagonist in inFAMOUS: Second Son. Taking the open world action to Seattle, you play as Delsin Rowe, a conduit with the amazing ability to absorb the powers of other superhumans. This gives you many more toys to play with as you progress, gaining unusual abilities based on smoke, neon, digital, and more. Exploring the city feels great, combat is fun and varied, and it looks fantastic — a great early showpiece for PS4.
2. inFAMOUS (PS3)
A fan favourite first-party franchise is inFAMOUS, starting life on PS3. Like some of Sony's other studios, this was a step into more mature territory for Sucker Punch Productions, following its run of Sly Cooper titles with a pulpy, open world superhero game. Playing as Cole MacGrath, who gains electrical abilities after a disastrous explosion, you can follow the route of good or evil as you jet about on telephone wires, blast baddies with lightning, and scale buildings in a flash. While it has its flaws, this first entry's entertaining story and fun superpowers laid the groundwork for a series that fans are still campaigning to return.
1. inFAMOUS 2 (PS3)
After the series got off to a promising start, inFAMOUS 2 is one of those sequels that improves basically everything, taking the franchise to the next level. Cole MacGrath is charged with stopping an almighty force from wiping out the country, and to do that, he'll need the help of some friends (and maybe enemies too). The morality system is still present, and you'll unlock brand new superpowers depending on the path you choose, giving Cole much more variety — and he even gets better melee combat to boot. With better gameplay, a more interesting setting, improved visuals, and an engaging story, it's a pitch-perfect sequel.
That's that for our list of the best inFAMOUS games. What do you think? Are these superpowered action adventures in the right order, or is the ranking downright villainous? Remember, you can contribute to how this list is ordered by leaving your user ratings on each game. Let us know what your favourite inFAMOUS games are in the comments section below.

Could never get into InFamous 1. The difficulty curve was insane.
Adore Second Son and First Light though.
@darkswabber InFamous 1 was difficult? I'm not even particularly good at video games, but don't recall it being challenging at all.
Second son is personally my favourite! Absolutely love Delsin's variety of powers with smoke being my favourite. Honestly, sucker punch did a great job at making every power feel distinct in this game.
Man, I miss inFAMOUS. I liked all the games but I actually think First Light was the best.
I never got into Second Son when it came out, and only finished it recently just for finishings sake. I love Festival of Blood, I remember being heavily into the TV show True Blood during that time as well, it was just perfect.
I loved second son , that special move he does , jumps high into the air, does a backflip , smirks to the camera and decimates whoever was on the ground , it was like a marvel film before marvel films , geat stuff.
@naruball I wouldn't say it was necessarily difficult, but it defo had some rough patches.
Like there would be instances where you're facing off like a million enemies and they all have pinpoint accuracy constantly making you suffer😂
@get2sammyb The closest we'll get to a flash game😪.
Sucker Punch did a great job on expanding the neon power. Those combat arenas were fantastic and running into those neon clouds for an extra burst of speed never got old.
I enjoyed second son and first light i played them recently on ps5 and both still hold up well obviously its upgraded for ps5 I will say second son seemed to me like a testing ground game for spiderman
I love them all! I especially love their bad endings. Also wish Fetch would’ve gotten a full game. Really great story and character.
@get2sammyb same here! Just too short. I might give it another go to be honest.
I remember picking Infamous 1 as one of the free games that were offered when PSN got hacked by the Lizard Squad, safe to say to choose wisely. Really would like a remake of the classic.
Damn you all! I saw this article and immediately thought a remaster or new game was announced, immediately scrolling down. Why must you hurt me so?
On topic, I’d swap First Light with Festival of Blood and inFamous 1 with 2.
And we can play the majority of these in modern consoles, right? ... Right?
My slim PS3 was bundled with inFamous (and Killzone 2), and my PS4 was bundled with Second Son, so obviously that was first games I played on my new systems. Good times.
@Lup They really should rectify that, agreed.
All of these games were really good! Would be nice to get a new one, even though I know it’s not gonna happen.
I think this order is motivated by nostatia more than a clear judgement of where the games are right now. The original InFamous game is MUCH worse than Second Son in every way. The story is great, and it is the first in the series so I understand the temptation to think it is better than Second Son, but this is absolutely not true.
I would love for someone to re-make/re-master the first InFamous with modern graphics (and impliment the improved control scheme in Second Son) and it could be the best of the series.
It is absolutely insane that Sony abandoned this franchise and we had no sequels during the MCU heyday and superhero craze. InFamous is the best superhero franchise in gaming. The only games that even come close are the Insomniac Spider-man and Arkham Batman games.
One thing I really loved about this series is how the karma upgrades influenced playstyle. Typically, the goody upgrades would be things like "enemies have glowing weak spots that do bonus damage if you hit them" while the evil ones would be things like "rapid fire" or explosions.
This means that if you're a goody your powers push you towards you a very precise playstyle, while if you're evil your powers are pushing towards a playstyle that creates much more "collateral damage".
@get2sammyb
Isn't it so wild that for all the big 1st party franchises that got HD treatments in the PS3 and PS4 eras, we never got inFamous HD collection? Seriously, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, Uncharted, Jak and Daxter, almost every God of War game, TLOU (the first of many remasters), and then other franchises like Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, Spyro, etc. But never inFamous.
Such a shame, because inFamous 2 was so good.
Yep Second Son is my favourite. Also my first ever Plat too.
Sadly, ive never been able to Plat First Light though
I think it's time for a remastered collection. Loved all these entries (but 2 was definitely the best one).
Man i miss Infamous so much, and theres so much you can do with the world, the lore, the powers. But cant help but feel as though they peaked at 2 and just left the series alone when Second Son ended up being overwhelming. To this day i feel like they wrote themselves into a corner with the way they ended Infamous 2 and then they just left it. Hoping that Sucker Punch proves me wrong someday
@Brydontk luckily Naughty Dog has nothing to do with inFamous
Man, how I loved those first two games.
I actually had the first, played about 10 mins and traded it.
Bought it back a couple of years later and loved it.
Second Son was OK but those first two were fantastic.
I loved the inFamous series.
Hope we get a new one at some point or a remastered collection if a new one won't happen.
I personally like Second son the most with 2 being close 2nd then 1 in 3rd first light 4th and festival of blood 5th
@Dan12836666 that would make more sense if Spiderman was made by suker punch and not insomniac
Have fond memories of booting up second son on my brand spanking new ps4. Definitely miss this series!
@rusty82 ye I forgot that lol my mistake there not sure why I was thinking it was made by insomniac and not sucket punch😆
I'd rank them in order of release, first one = Best one. Last one = Worst one.
It's also one of those series I'm a little afraid to ever return too, despite absolutely loving them in my teens, something tells me they may not have been as good as I remember.
@Dalamar Meh, edited
I love the first 2 games, would be grand if Sony would revive them somehow.
Also played Second Son and First Light but they didn't have the same impact the first 2 games had... going from serious Cole to being a teenager just wasn't a good change imo.
I’ve played them all and InFamous: Second Son is by far my favorite. I’m probably bias though being from Seattle. The game blew me away when it released though and I platinumed it as soon as I could.
The game captures Seattle and the surrounding area at the beginning better than any other game I’ve played. Heavy Rain is a close second.
series basically got worse as it progressed . after 2, it was pretty meh. i hope if they bring it back it’s more like 2
Played, platinum'd, and loved every Infamous game! And if they re-released them all again, I'd do it all over!
We need a remastered collection of these. Many Sony classics are stuck on PS3 (and streaming them does not count).
Only the first 2 were good. SS and FL were particularly awful and it was clear the devs weren't fully invested in them. I had to force myself to complete them. Wish they would make an inFamous 3 with full commitment.
Really loved them. I never played the vampire one... I probably should have back in the day. Not sure how to get it now.
I always wished the PS Vita would have gotten an InFamous game.
