PS5's DualSense controller is one of the best pads you can use, especially when its bells and whistles are really taken advantage of, and it seems Sony isn't quite done throwing new features at it.
In a social post out of nowhere, PlayStation has announced that an update is planned for the controller that will allow it to be paired with more than one device:
Coming sometime later this year, the platform holder will release a DualSense update that will enhance "pairing functionality", letting you use your controller on multiple devices without having to re-pair.
For example, if you use the pad on your PS5 and your PC, you will be able to synchronise your DualSense on both machines at once; the controller won't need to be synced each time you swap devices.

Currently, if you use your DualSense on another device and then swap back to your PS5, you'll have to connect your controller via USB to have it realign with your console.
It's a seemingly minor feature but a very useful one for those who are using their PS5 pads across several devices. It'll certainly save the odd headache when moving from one to the next.
Sony says to stay tuned for more details; hopefully they aren't too far away.
Will you make use of this new DualSense functionality? Tell us in the comments section below.

Ah this is great. I have my DualSense Edge that I use with both my Mac and my PS5 but half of the time I find it too much of an hassle so just use a normal DualSense with my PS5.
Yup, that will be a handy feature, although I now has 3 Dual Sense, 1 for PC and 2 for the PS5.
Still handy to know I can have them all synced to both with less messing around repairing
I actually use my 30th anniversary Dualsense with my PS1 console via the 8bitdo adapter and occasionally with my PS5 so that's one less hassle to deal with.
This is great. I do this with my Xbox controller, a double tap of the pair button switches between console and whatever device you have connected by Bluetooth (PC, Mobile, etc.) it's very handy and much fiddlier with the Dualsense. A good fix.
That is a godsend!
I hope this includes the PSVR2 controllers as it’s a pain resyncing when going between PS5 and PC.
Ahh nice, sometimes use my 2nd dualsense for pairing with my RG556 when i wanna hook up to TV 👍
i couldn’t care less, it never was a big deal to me to re-sync my drift senses. but i’d love for $ony to show more love to their legacy and retrofit the ps3/ps2 controller like how xbox did their OG duke controller, s controller, & 360 controller. & so does nintendo with the GC and 64 controllers
@nomither6 Come on brother we all know the PS3 controller was not great, far too small, I don't miss it at all.
So you can get the built in drift just that faster 🤣
This is perfect for me! I have a Brook Wingman or whatever so I can use my Dualsense Edge (complete with custom profiles) on my PS3 and it's revived my love of gaming.
But it is so unbelievably annoying to re-pair every time I want to switch consoles
@Oram77 That’s the beauty of options, everyone can use what they like; i personally love the DS3.
Thank god. I have 6 DualSense so would be nice to sell a couple.
I would love this feature!! Ideally, same controller would work on PS5, PC, and Android without having to repair all the time.
DualSense is my preferred controller, and I still use some others simply because I'm too lazy to re-pair all the time and these ones were either around from old consoles or are 3rd party cheapos.
@nomither6 PS3 dualshock was basically made out of tracing paper. It doesn't need to come back.
Yes finally! I've got 3 Dualsense controllers for my main PS5, jailbroken PS5 and Steam Deck. Can't wait for this
Ohh... So I can play same game multiple times at once...
Thank f for that! I’ve got controllers all over the place, mainly for different consoles etc, but I have 4 ps5 controllers, 2 for ps5 and 2 for my steam deck. But it would be lovely to use one of my pads for Apple TV, one for iPad, maybe one for my shield etc. at the very least, I hope I would be able to drop one of my pad sets.
I hope Nintendo do the same type of thing as I have joy cons now paired with my switch 2 which I would prefer to have assigned with both
@Haggis555 Was thinking the very same, one of the reasons I don't use my PSVR2 with my PC much is having to re-pair the controllers each time.
This is actually really handy. I use mine with my steam deck but always just use it wired because it’s a faff to pair
When I read the title:
Oh cool! If you have multiple PS5s, you can play them both with the same controller at the same time. What a way to test a couple of TVs to see which is better, with identical playback. 😜
But not quite. Still, not having to resync a controller after hooking it up to a PC is cool. Would be nice if they brought back the wireless adapter too.
I just wish the Dualsense was more utilized on the platform it exists on. It feels weird that there has been so few games that have properly used the haptic feedback or novel features of the controller. In five years, Astro’s Playroom is still the pinnacle of Dualsense utilization. Seriously, where has this feature gone on PS5? Not sure if this is because of how dry first party has been or what, but the Dualsense in general has so much wasted potential.
This is great, I have to constantly resync my edge between PS5 and PC. Great job Sony, don't take too long with the update though.
So, if you have 1 pad paired to 2 PS5's in your house - will it turn them both on at the same time?...
@somnambulance "Not sure if this is because of how dry first party has been or what" I would definately say it's because of that, 3rd parties are obligated to use Dualsense (which is a damn shame)
That would be amazing!

Yep, same — marvellous little invention isn't it?
Finally. Such a pain to repair with the PC and PS5.
This is huge for me. I use a secondary Dualsense for my Steamdeck so being able to swap back and forth without pairing would be perfect.
As someone who has a PC and PS5, this is a welcome update.
I know the Xbox Series controllers let you do this as well, which was nice (not the X1 controllers). But the Xbox Controllers are just so loud that I hate using them on PC unless I absolutely have to.
I hope this will be rolled out for the Sense controllers for PSVR2. I switch between PS5 and PC VR a lot and have to pair them every time.
Good, I want to pair my 30th anniversary collection dualsense with ps5 and pc.
Given that the DS4 could be plugged in and update it's pairing in no time at all, the DS5 is just a weird pain to unregister and re-register every time you want use your controller on a different system.
@Jeaz
Too much of a hassle to use your phone changing cable? Wow, first world problems.
@Czar_Khastik LOL, nice story.
@Saucymonk It goes like this: "cool story bro"
@Chrisathickson it’s not like it’s a massive problem, if it were I’d buy a second Edge controller.
But it’s apparently Sony thought of as a something they could fix.
A welcome little feature. I use my launch day dualsense for my PC gaming and it's still going strong.
@Oram77 Yeah, I miss Sony’s weird and artsy games that tried new things. Feels like no one’s even talked about haptic feedback or triggers since maybe year 2 of the console’s lifecycle. Huge waste.
@somnambulance From the latest State of Play, it looks like they are moving back to the wacky/artsy style (aware most of what was shown is 3rd party)
@Oram77 Probably why that was my favorite State of Play perhaps ever. The Marvel fighting game was perhaps the low point of the showcase for me. Happy to see the return of weird games and Japanese studios.
That's a fair feature. Cabled or bluetooth. Nice. For whichever of phone or TV boxes or cloud apps or whichever it's nice to see it.
Dualsense support, Impulse triggers or just any general support is always cool to see.
Great news. The DualSense is my favorite controller, ever - and I'm primarily a Nintendo guy. I just wish it had better battery life.
How about we get analog sticks that don't get drift so easily? I have FIVE DualSense controllers purchased since 2021, and 3 of them developed drift WITHIN A YEAR. I'd rather they focus on fixing that honestly.
