Adding to the speculation of a Gears of War: E-Day port to PS5 from the past weekend is the suggestion State of Decay 3 will also make its way to Sony's current-gen console. According to outlet MP1ST, the upcoming survival game is listed as a target platform on developer CVs alongside Xbox Series X|S and PC.

This is the same detail that has drawn conclusions of a PS5 port for Gears of War: E-Day. It is suggested Microsoft will be announcing more of its multi-platform plans in the coming weeks, so there's potential for the two rumoured ports to be confirmed in the near future.

One of the titles Microsoft has had in development for many, many years alongside games like Fable and Contraband, it's been more than five years since State of Decay 3 was first announced. It reappeared at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2024, but wasn't present this year. It's suggested the title wasn't affected by the recent wave of layoffs at Xbox, which saw Perfect Dark, Everwild, and an unannounced MMO cancelled.

From studio Undead Labs, the State of Decay series allows you to live your post-apocalyptic fantasies, as zombies have taken over the world and you need to survive by building a base and recruiting allies. The games are well-regarded and would fill a niche on PS5.

Officially, next up from Microsoft is Gears of War: Reloaded, which remasters the first game in the series. Gears of War: E-Day is a prequel to that original story, and is also rumoured for PS5. With racing game Forza Horizon 5 reportedly the PS5's best-selling new game of 2025 so far, it's clear why Microsoft continues to invest in multi-platform versions of its first-party lineup.
