Re: Soapbox: We Need to Talk About FIFA 21 Ultimate Team's Unfathomably Crap Cosmetics

tomassi

The cosmetics in the 'season pass' are indeed dreadful. I just get them and quick sell them straightaway. You do also get plenty of packs in each season though to be fair. I enjoy FUT, only play offline and have never spent a penny on it. And, yes, I don't have Messi or Ronaldo or any legends, but I still have a damn good team of 85+ rated stars purely from earning packs etc, so I don't see it as a bad thing. Apart from the monotony and grind sometimes.

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Is Another £70 / $70 PS5 Game from Sony

tomassi

I say this on every article of this ilk, but I'll say it again. Does anyone really NEED to play Ratchet & Clank, or any other game for that matter, THAT BADLY, that they can't just wait a year or two and buy it for £20, rather than £70? Surely if you buy digital, that's the way to do it isn't it? Most people's backlogs are big enough, or there are enough quality games they've probably not played that are always cheap in sales on the PS Store, for them not to need to rush out and spend £70 on a game on day one?

The only game that I buy each year at near full price is PES or FIFA to satisfy my football urge. Anything else, nah. I can wait and buy it for £10-15 usually.

Re: Deal: EA Play Subscription on Sale for £0.79, $0.99

tomassi

I have FIFA 21 and recently bought the Star Wars bundle in a sale (Fallen Order, SWBF2 and Squadrons for £40) and my son has PvZ so have no interest in anything else on there to be honest. 79p is worth it though for most people to play through a couple of those games!

Re: Ubisoft Announces New Star Wars Game from The Division Team

tomassi

@Bad-MuthaAdebisi you say 'garbage' but SWBF2 is now an excellent game, Jedi Fallen Order is really good and Squadrons is decent as well. In fact, even the first Battlefront still gets played by my son and I on occasion. I'd say EA have actually done pretty well with Star Wars to date.

Re: 67 Per Cent of UK Game Sales Were Digital Last Year

tomassi

I always buy digital. Too lazy to swap discs around. If you could install from disc and then not have to use the disc again maybe I'd buy physical because of resale value, but I don't buy games day one anyway, always a year or two later when they are £15 or less, so not too bothered about resale.

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Use PS5's New UI Features?

tomassi

If we're being honest, the new UI is worse than the PS4, isn't it? Anyone who didn't bag a PS5 yet, don't worry, it's not all that. It's quieter, loads some games a bit quicker, and that's about it.

Quick resume on XBOX is far better than the cards system on PS5.

I preferred the bigger tiles/thumbs for each game cover on the PS4, rather than the little ones at the top like on PS5. And the fact you can't sort into folders etc is frustrating. Why are you taking features AWAY?? Surely you should be addingto existing ones?

Re: PS Store Holiday Sale Has More Than 1,000 PS5, PS4 Deals

tomassi

@Hanbaga why would anyone even pay most of these 'sales' prices in the first place?! I jus bought Star Wars BF2 and celebration upgrade for a combined £14. Now thats a sale price! Would never pay full price for any game. In fact, I'd never pay more than £15-20 for a game. Happto wait for a good sale.

Re: CD Projekt RED Tries to Distance Itself from Cyberpunk 2077 Refund Mess

tomassi

I can't believe a company could destroy it's reputation that quickly but CDPR have managed it with ease! And they keep on digging the hole even deeper.

The Witcher seems a long time ago now!!! Personally I think it's kind of funny, what with there being so many gaming snobs when it comes to Ubisoft and EA etc. "Our hallowed CDPR would never operate like 'those' companies, they push out quality product". Hmmmmm.

Re: CD Projekt RED Responds to Cyberpunk 2077 Epilepsy Concerns

tomassi

@Makina that doesn't cut it, sorry. Needs to be taken out, changed or switched off by default with the ability to turn it on.

I have epilepsy and can tell you, waking up from a seizure feels like you have been hit by a bus, you have no recollection of what happened that day, and your tongue is bit to shreds. In summary, it's not fun.

If there is an element in a game that can specifically cause that, it shouldn't be there. As most epileptics will agree, we know the risk of playing games but most of them are generally OK. This sounds like it isn't.

Re: Soapbox: Help! I Spent Money on Ultimate Team, and I'm Afraid I'll Do It Again

tomassi

I have just started getting into FUT on FIFA 21 having avoided it all these years before. Difference is, I don't really GET it, and I don't play online so have no care about having to get the 'best' players. It is massively thrilling to unlock new packs though, or spend the coins you've earned through playing to get new players etc. For the life of me though, I can't imagine why anyone would want to pay money on it. Can someone enlighten me? What's the point? I don't really 'get' FUT anyway if I'm honest. Like, I have some decent players but the only ones who are actually effective are the pacy ones. So why spend money on those that aren't? And, whats the difference between a Champs League version of a player, or a TOTW player or whatever? Just market value, or are their stats better?

And, ultimately, this chemistry thing. Does that make your team play better if it's higher by increasing the indiviual players stats? If so, I've not noticed any difference. And it just restricts who you can have in your team anyway, because you have to have the same players from the same league or nationality. I want to mix things up!!

Re: Empire of Sin (PS4) - Gangster Strategy Game Is a Broken Mess

tomassi

@OneManDroid this is one of the things I still don't understand about modern gaming. Why release a game full of bugs? That game will get reviewed on the day it's released and, if the reviews are terrible, it will be yesterdays news and no one will ever hear about it once it's been patched and got better. Sales will probably take a big hit. Surely it would have been better, sales wise, if the game was released in a good state from the start?

Re: PS Plus, PS Now Members Frustrated by Duplicate PS4 Games

tomassi

I have both subs. Don't really play online but my son plays the odd game online so have it for him. Wouldn't bother me if I didn't have it. And, to be honest, I don't really play much of what's on Now either really. But I do like the choice of being able to if I want.

At the end of the day, you can purchase both of these services for a combined £70 in certain sales, which works out about £5 per month. That's not too bad considering everything that offers. It's half of the cost of Netflix or Spotify.

Maybe Sony should offer them as a bundle for that amount or thereabouts, I'm sure most people would be happy to pay that, wouldn't they?

Re: EA Sports Responds to Footballer Rights Row Exploding on Social Media

tomassi

I have to question the players motives here when they would surely be fully aware that their likeness has been in both FIFA and PES for, in Ibra's case, about 15-20 years now!! Why the sudden interest?

My worry is that it gains traction because, although some people don't care about faces and names in the games, I personally feel it adds to the immersion etc. A player with a generic face pulls me right out of the game. I guess in PES it doesn't matter so much because you've always been able to edit the names, but FIFA you can't even do that.

Could have a huge shockwave across football games if this goes anywhere far!

Re: PS5 Review - The Future of PlayStation

tomassi

If I purchase the PS5, presumably I can still use the PS4 as it was the day I 'left' it? His grandparents want a console round their house for when the kids stay over, so the PS4 with all the games I have on it already would be perfect, as long as I can just copy them all across to the PS5. Would there be any issues with primary accounts etc?

Re: Huge PlayStation Store Indies Sale Has Lots of Great PS4 Games Going Cheap

tomassi

@thefourfoldroot but if you can (supposedly) play most of your PS4 games on a PS5, why would you keep the PS4? It's just more room taken up. IMO its better to have EVERYTHING under one roof. An all in one entertainment experience. I don't want to have to switch leads, discs, change channels etc. That's why it's important to me that Sony gets the BC thing correct. I just want to buy a PS5 (I'd wait but my son wants it!) and be able to play new and old games seamlessly, all of them!
