Tennis World Tour 2 is supposedly awful. Which is weird because Sony literally have the better reviewed AO Tennis 2 on PS Now and they've never been shy about double dipping games between Plus and Now.
My son used to love PvZ but said they stopped supporting it so he doesn't tend to play it much anymore. It's a fun enough game though.
@hypnotoad I disagree, I think she's a good pundit. She's fine as the pitch side analyst in FIFA. The bigger annoyance is that they persist with Derek Rae and then get another no name beside him.
Tyler and Smith were getting old to a degree, but at least it aided immersion when playing Prem games. They should have gone all in and tried to get Neville.
@Kienda the reaction is negative BECAUSE the graphics are awful and it's been produced as a mobile game though. Not because twitter is full of hyperbole (I agree, it is).
This is a yearly football franchise that has had fantastic graphics for the last few years. Of course people are fuming that they've dumbed it down just so that people can play it on their iPhone. The video IS that bad. The 'roadmap' (excuse me whilst I throw up) IS that bad.
Why would I want a football game where I can only play as 9 different teams until Winter, when a third of the football season is already been and gone? Why would I want to play a mobile game on my PS5?
It's not like this is a new franchise. It's PES. It's the only other established football game other than FIFA. They have a smaller budget than FIFA, but that hasn't meant the previous iterations have been worse than FIFA, so you can't now use that as an excuse as to why the graphics are suddenly awful.
And, they've had TWO years to come up with this. TWO years!!!! And they flat out lied in all their promo stuff up to this point. At least if you pay £60 per year for a sports game there is some kind of onus to make the game better each year. Why would Konami need to make the gameplay or graphics better now it's F2P? As long as people are buying whatever rubbish they are selling for vbucks, sorry I mean, PES points, why would they need to change anything?
Of course, I may be wrong (and hope I am) but if everyone on twitter is being hyperbolic in their distate for this endeavour, then I guess I am as well because it's awful.
I think this announcment is so poorly received not neccessarily because it's F2P but because the graphics are awful when people were promised a next gen football game. The graphics are worse than the 2021 game!
Also, the bare bones release with 'roadmap' whereby people will have to wait until winter for more content. That may work for Fortnite, but football has defined seasons and it will be 4 or more months into the season before people can use different modes and clubs.
And the main thing PES had over FIFA all those years was the editing mode. If that goes or is watered down, it's game over for the community.
Youtubers have probably been 'incentivised' by Konami to say good things. A bit harder to do that with loads of randoms on social media.
Believe what you want of course, but the overwhelming reaction to this has been whatever is worse than negative! And rightly so. If I was Konami right now I'd feel extremely embarrassed!
@HMazzy111 the trouble is, if it's free to play, I don't see why they would bother spending money on improving presentation and game modes, as the game will mostly be funded by MyClub like FIFA is with FUT. Bad news for those who only like playing offline I think.
I don't think this will happen. They've literally spent two years building a new game on a new engine. No way they can afford to do it as F2P already. Maybe in the years to come it could happen, not that anyone actually wants it to. You can kiss goodbye to any improvements or updates in the single player modes if that's the case.
I'm personally looking forward to seeing how PES 2022 holds up now its on a new engine and fully next gen. Hopefully it can finally rival FIFA in the game-buying public's eyes. We need some competition.
I'm also looking forward to Among Us, not for myself, but my Son has wanted to play it for ages having watched Youtube videos.
@Pheap82 and I'd say MORE than plenty of people like football but that didn't stop everyone crying about getting PES with Plus. And PES is actually GOOD! WWE is niche, and terrible (and on PS Now already).
Can I just go back to the moment when loads of cry babies got PES (arguably the best football game around) swapped because they don't like sport. Presumably we will all be doing the same with WWE, baring in mind it's WRESTLING (seriously who outside of 12 year olds and American 'bros' like it) AND terrible? AND it's on, or been on, PS Now (quelle surprise).
Let's not even get started on COD. It's an old multiplayer only game. Not even a campaign. Come on Sony. This is lame.
Played one game on the beta and yes it was awful. Hopefully Konami don't do a Konami and end up shooting themselves in the foot as usual by basing the final version closely on this.
I can see it now. Everyone's panic subsiding as Konami state this is not indicative of the final product. Everyone gets excited. Konami reveal a game that is a 1% better than what the beta was!
I'm tempted to get this because who doesn't like a Track and Field type game for a bit of family fun. Seriously have to question why they've put things in like Football, Rugby and Tennis though instead of events that scream Olympics a bit more. I mean, if I want to play football I'm going to pick up a football game like FIFA or PES aren't I? Same goes for Baseball, Basketball and Tennis.
And then you look and the likes of 200m, 400m, pole vault, triple jump, gymnastics, javelin, shot put etc are missing. Oh, and diving, archery, weightlifting and numerous others.
Very strange decision by SEGA. I'll wait for a sale I guess.
Not a fan of Bethesda games really (played some Wolfenstein New Order) so this doesn't bother me particularly. If I did some how get into their back catalogue though, does that mean I would no longer be able to play Doom, Fallout 4 etc on PS? Are they being removed from the store, or is it just future releases not appearing?
Always want to give these games a go but they're ridiculously priced on PS Store at £35 I think? Never go on sale (apart from at the moment for the first time in years, where it's still £17).
I mean, a game like that, I'd probably be looking to spend no more than a tenner in a sale.
In theory The Witcher is strong AAA to add to Now. In reality it's a 6/7 year old game that most people have played and usually costs less than a tenner every other month in a sale. If they even suggest that this is a timed exclusive, that's going to be embarrassing.
That looks awesome but I hate that kind of fighting mechanic (not really an RPG kind of guy) so it's a no for me. If it had normal combat like Link to the Past for instance, then I'd be well in.
Not a great month for me personally, but only because I already own SW Squadrons, otherwise I would have been more than happy with that. The other two don't interest me but that's fine. More than enough to play anyway. And it's EURO 2020 in a couple of weeks so I won't have much time to play anyway!
Love a good Track and Field game, right back from Daley Thompsons Decathlon on Spectrum! Not sure why they've included things like football, baseball, basketball, tennis and rugby though? That hardly screams Olympics to me. And those modes aren't exactly going to better FIFA, NBA2K, The Show etc so I can't believe they would be a huge draw for many people.
It's even worse when you look at the list and the likes of javelin, triple jump, archery, gymnastics, diving and weightlifting aren't included.
@LiamCroft Sorry to be 'that' guy but you know Crotone and Spezia are actual Serie A teams right? Napoli and Lazio are fully licensed in FIFA 21. The only two who aren't are Juve and Roma
Played the trial over the weekend for about ten minutes and it didn't strike me as a 9/10 game. I found the arenas were too vast for the amount of players. It certainly didn't peak my interest but I'll give it another go.
@Total_Weirdo first off I'd say, what a guy out of a band refers to as new or remastered is neither here nor there. They probably don't really know or care about the difference.
And the other thing I'd say is, if Vicarious Visions AREN'T at the helm, I'd be careful wishing for a totally new game (cough THPS5 cough). I'd rather the safety net of a similar experience to what we just got, but for THPS3 and maybe 4 as well.
I'm all digital. But then I'm not bothered about playing games day one so very rarely spend over £10-15 on ANY game. I'll get my yearly copy of FIFA or PES on day one, and that's it. Not bothered about anything else, even if it takes a year or two to get them.
@Xenomorph_79 when you say Sony shutting down servers, surely that only matters for online only games, so it wouldn't matter if you had digital or disc, you still wouldn't be able to play it?
If I bought a game digital and had downloaded it to my library, I can't see at what point in time I'd never be able to play it again?
Terrible idea! Unless they somehow strike absolute gold with one of their games, which is unlikely, they have no chance in that market. Once the likes of Fortnite and Warzone (and Apex) get that audience, it's hard to get it back off them again as they are such established brands.
It's akin to trying to start a new social network now to take on Facebook. There's no point. It's already on pretty much everyone human beings mobile phone and most people are a) sheep and b) not that bothered to change to something else. It kind of becomes like when you stick with the same bank forever, even if they offer worse savings rates, because the alternative is to cancel all your direct debits and it just seems too much hassle!
Like, people aren't going to think "I know, I'll ditch my 5 years of progress on Fortnite to play this new game that's come out which is fairly similar anyway and that none of my friends play". Sure, some will, but vast majority won't because they like what is familiar. Whether that yields profits anyway, I have no idea. Seems like a stupid idea though.
Most of these games have been in sales millions of times by now, but imagine if you had only just purchase a PS4 for example. You could feasibly pick up Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs, Need for Speed, Little Nightmares, Just Cause 3, Star Wars Battlefront, Oxenfree all for less than £25 in total. You can argue about the merits of those games individually, but for value for money for a new gamer, that's awesome!
Played this on Apple Arcade and it's OK for that kind of mobile type experience. It surely can't cost more than a couple of quid on console though I'd imagine? It's fairly similar to Pumped BMX if you recall that?
@BoldAndBrash I bought it in a bundle with Squadrons and Battlefront 2 Celebration Edition all for £39.99 which I thought was great value! Wait for that to come around again!
I tried it on PS Now and it was fairly enjoyable from what I tried. Graphics are fairly bad though so hopefully the PS5 version will look a bit better maybe? Same with another Plus game that's on Now, Stranded Deep. Man, those graphics are UGLY!

Well, why should someone put down a not inconsiderable amount of money on something that doesn't work 100%?
I want my game console to do game related things. Not interested in movies etc. I have more than enough content via Netflix, Amazon, Sky etc to satisfy that itch. Just combine Plus and Now, that would be a better proposition.
